Horrible chicken and it was tuff as hell. Breading would come off instantly with such a powerful paprika flavor it overpowered everything. Random areas of the restaurant smelled like sewage and the soda station served uncarbonated and warm soda with zero flavor (don't know how that's possible) customer service was VERY weak with workers giving attitude. I love hot chicken so I wanted to try Main chick since I pass it all the time. This location is in the same lot as Super King. This is location is very clean with lots of open space to eat inside. Orders are placed on the kiosk. The menu is pretty standard to its name (chicken sandwhich, chicken tenders or chicken (bone in). They have five levels of hotness" that you can request. (They have a wall of photos of the customers who ate the hottest level 'Supreme'.... Bold lol). I ordered a leg and thigh with fries (medium hotness). Medium had a nice kick to it and the chicken was crispy and good. Nice amount of fries. Not sure if I'm brave enough to try supreme but I will be back to try more options on the menu. First time trying Main chicken. Great quality. My best friend and I both got combo #1 which is a sandwich, a tender, fries and a drink. We also got a side of macaroni and cheese. The chicken was crispy and delicious. We got mild and medium heat. A fair warning to anyone who can't handle spicy foods. The medium is very spicy. Luckily for us we love a good kick of heat. Is MC Hot Chicken better than Howlin's Rays? Definitely not! But is it better than Dave's Hot Chicken? Absolutely! I got MC Sandwich (spicy) and it was delicious when I balanced the spice with the sweetness of the MC sauce (their mayo sauce). The sandwich was kind of small though, so definitely consider grabbing a side of fries or one of the other side options (coleslaw, Mac & cheese). My husband got the tenders and the skin/batter was overcooked. It tasted like they were cooked in old oil. Maybe he got a bad batch? The fries were decent. Can never go wrong with this spot. I used to go to the one in Woodland Hills since it was closer to us but since the Northridge one opened, it's super convenient! Parking gets a little packed since it's located in a busy plaza next to Northridge mall. There's a DSW and Daiso along with a supermarket and other food spots. Almost always a struggle finding parking. Lots of seating at this location and service is always quick! Love the beautiful mural on the right wall when you walk in. We typically get the combo #1 and #2 with extra MC sauces because you can never have too much. I'll start off with the bad because it's the reason for my rating. There was the FOULEST smell inside the restaurant. Right when I walked in it smelled like old fermented cabbage and poop mixed together it was so bad I actually couldn't stay inside to order I had to have my husband order for me while I waited outside. (I almost canceled getting the food because the smell was so disgusting but my husband wanted me to try it because it's one of his favorites) When we went back in to pick up the order the smell seemed to have gotten worse and I had to run outside and actually vomited in the trash can outside. That's why there's a little bit of a wait before we get our food. This food establishment is located in a large and super busy shopping center across the street from the Northridge Fashion Center. The parking lot is large and free but you might still have to go up and down an aisle once or twice. Ordered a plate with CHICKEN STRIPS AND FRIES and the fries were seasoned, thank goodness. Today I was doing some shopping next door and stopped by for some hot chicken tenders. The girl at the counter looked bored. I said "Hi" with a smile to her and ordered a 3 chicken tender combo. She remained looking bored somehow. That's fine, I just came here to enjoy the food. The background music was a little too loud to me. But it's bearable. However, there's a group of four young adults sitting near the front counter and were talking and laughing so loud totally ignoring other customers. A couple sitting next to them didn't say anything but was obviously annoyed. I wanted to wait outside, but there was no seating outside. So no way to escape. I had to stay inside listening to the loud music and the loud group. When I got my order, the fries were hot and crispy but the chicken tenders were lukewarm. I only finished two tenders because the third one was as tough and cold as rubber. I felt a little sad because the food was mediocre, the staff was uninviting, and some customers were loud/rude. I go there about once every two weeks. I really enjoy their food and think that the combination of spicy and sweet is perfect. I would love to eat there, but I always just take out because I feel like there is an ongoing problem with their bathrooms. I'm not sure exactly if it's a building plumbing problem, but WOW. It smells rancid cause the bathrooms are unkept and the smell leaks into the dining area. I also think their soda machines have some problems hence the wet floor sign near the drain. Quality: The chicken is so juicy here. I have yet to find a place that does it better. Their chicken sandwich is on the smaller side and I didn't get any flavor from their slaw. Those are the only flaws I experienced which I can overlook. Their spicy level has a kick so go with medium or mild if you can't handle spicy food. This is one of the better hot chicken spots.
