Came in for lunch today and decided to try the Jalapeño burger. This burger holds up to its name. It has plenty of jalapeños and it definitely has a kick to it! Service was quick and friendly. I love the 50's vibe here, makes me feel like I'm back in that era. There is limited parking on site, but not an issue if you get here before lunch rush hour. I've been wanting to try this place out and we finally decided to go tonight. This is apparently a staple in Sumner and after living around here basically my whole life, I dined in. And I will have to say I was extremely disappointed. I had hopes for it to be likes Wally's in Buckley, but it was not. Not even close. My best reference would be Jack in the Box. I got the mushroom Swiss burger, and by the time it made it to me, my bottom bun was already soggy and the fries were very soft and unseasoned. All around, I didn't like it. I probably at almost 3/4 of the burger and gave the rest to my boyfriend, hardly touched the fries. The only reason I would go back to this place, and the only reason why it received two stars instead of one, is because we got a chocolate marshmallow milkshake to go...and that was heavenly. WOW this place is straight butt. I had ordered a cheeseburger and I said ketchup only. The girl at the front counter looked confused so I repeated myself because obviously it was too many words for her brain to handle. I also order a side of curly fries. Although it is very Smokey and hot inside, the servers were great and kept good attitudes! They were very attentive and handled the busy times very well! Went here yesterday, food was good. When drinks were ordered, coconut mango were both drinks. What was given to us was frozen stirred eggnog drinks. It is a cute small shop down the street from Sumner High School. They have a couples outside and about a dozen inside. We came to have ice cream. Ice cream was good, but nothing special. Disappointed. Wow I went in with such high hope and left disappointed. I was in the area for worn and thought this would be a great place for lunch. Got there and was like hey this is neat has charm. After waiting an extremely long time for the couple ahead of me to order then waiting for the cashier to make ice cream and drinks; she greeted me by saying " It will be 20 minutes for any food order". I was kind of surprised but thought must be cooked fresh and I've waiting this long. So I ordered the Spartan Burger w/onion rings and found a seat. We ordered 3 cheeseburger meals upgraded to curly fries and small shakes and it was over $45(?!) which is far higher then competitors but I can live with that if it's good. The milkshakes were called our first and they were completely runny- the consistency of chocolate milk. The food took an additional 30 minutes of standing there holding liquid milkshakes, and the fries were nothing like shown in photos, they were very very thin and fried all stuck together in a block not warm and with no flavor (we threw 2 of the 3 orders away). This place was not good at all. The patties on the burgers were very small. I ordered the Tillamook burger that was supposed to have cheese and bacon. The cheese was melted off the burger and I had a barely noticeable piece of bacon and tons of bun. We asked for ketchup and we're given four small to go packets for four meals (two burgers w/fries and two corn dogs w/fries). I had to go back in and ask for more ketchup. The girl only handed me a few more to go packets and was annoyed when I asked for more. She was reluctant and I had to explain that my kids needed ketchup for their fries and corn dogs. Later I took my kids inside to use the restroom and saw they had bottles of ketchup. Not sure why we didn't get one?! After we ate we ordered soft serve chocolate/vanilla swirl ice cream cones. Whatever they brought out was NOT real ice cream. It was awful! The cost food court had WAY better ice cream. The service was so poor that I didn't even bother asking to exchange the ice cream. My husband and I threw away our ice cream. My two year old and four year old kids only had a few bites of their ice cream before throwing it away. Not sure what is up with this place. As some of the other Yelp reviews have indicated the service may be hit and miss at the Main Street Dairy Freeze. Yes, the place was busy so that accounts for much of it but it also seemed grossly understaffed for the amount of customers there. None of the workers were sluffing off, they just seemed overwhelmed. Despite that primary complaint there isn't really much else to complain about this place. It is one of the better restaurants I have come across in Sumner. The burgers aren't really the bells and whistles kind of burgers you may come across but they are pretty tasty. Probably the best thing about the Dairy Freeze is the shakes. They have a nice, broad list of different flavors. I got a Hazelnut shake and I must say it was very well executed. The ice cream and the shakes is all this place needed to prove to me that I whenever I am back in Sumner I will definitely make a point to come here. The service is on point and are Eager to help , No it's Ronald Mcfast but worth the few minutes extra ! They also support the local youth in the area . What ice cream place that offers soft serve makes you wait for 15-20 mins just to tell us that their machine is not working. Really? It was not like we went right when they opened. We already paid $4.00 for 2 cones, so she offered us scooped ice cream. We both chose mint chocolate chip. It was soft and flavorless. Literally the WORST ice cream I have ever had. I am not an ice cream snob by any means, but this stuff was as bland as bland can be. In addition to the bad ice cream and the long wait, it was sad to see that one of the employees brought their dog and tied it up on the side by the picnic tables. If you are in the mood for a great shake check out the Dairy Freeze. The shakes are great but service is hit and miss on how fast you will get your order. On the two times we have had burgers and fries they were dripping with grease. Yuck! No matter how good the shakes are you can't get a "meal" there. On warm afternoons the line is long giving the impression they have great food and a customer bsse. It is long because of slow service.
