After rereading my initial review and conversing with the owner (two stars for him), I'm editing this post for content and tone. My experience was less than ideal. The prices were higher than what I expected, the turkey was on the tough side, and the bread didn't seem to hold up to the condiments. Pickle slices might be a good addition, and my fried potatoes were undercooked and under seasoned. In my opinion, using thicker, carved slices on sandwiches can be great, but when you do, cut and portioning become paramount. Too many thick slices reduce the surface area and enzymatic exposure of the meat resulting in a chewier bite. Shaving or thin slicing lets you add more meat without the chew. I think it would also help to roast the potatoes in the oven ahead of time with seasonings and then just crisping then in a pan for service. Just seems like it would help create a consistent product that would be quick. Just a thought. read more

Visited Main St Deli 12/15 @ 11:30am. One customer ahead of me. Ordered a New Yorker sandwich w/ side order of potato salad to go. Pros: Sandwich was delicious, generously layered with corned beef and pastrami, topped w/ kraut and cheese. Just the way I would make it at home. Potato salad was a mild, mayo and mustard base with thinly sliced red onion. Again, just as I would make it at home. Cons: 1. Took a 1/2 hour to get my order. Heard nothing from the staff explaining any reason for delay other than when Chris hollered out that they were having to re-toast the bread since the first try was overdone. That was around 11:50. 2. Lack of masks by staff. I am aware that the Governor has made the wearing of masks a volunteer issue regarding restaurants in Georgia, therefore not seeing masks being worn by the staff and 7 out of eight of the customers entering the store during my visit is well within the state guidelines. I have been patronizing North Georgia restaurants since early summer because until yesterday, every one I visited required staff and customers to wear masks when entering their establishments. I am over 70 years old and feel covid prevention is a high priority in my life now. Because of Chris's choice on this issue, I can not allow myself to return, despite the great food. Fortunately, the majority of restaurants I've been to have chosen to earn my business with safe business practices. read more

So going on day two eating here. Yesterday had the Corned Beef Pastrami Sandwich with Smoked Gouda Pasta Salad. Seriously fantastic pasta salad, a new twist on a classic dish, and the dressing on the sandwich made it nothing short of spectacular, not to mention the generous serving of meat easily enough for 2 people. Today I had the Turkey and Swiss with avocado. Everything was perfect and once again with ample protein. Had the Coleslaw today equally impressive. The food is great, and their iced coffee is fantastic I'll be back tomorrow for more. All that said, while the food and drinks are very impressive what is even more impressive, are the people that work there. Met Chris yesterday and he remembered my name today he also went out of his way to help me find a place to work out here when the restaurant closed which was super nice of him. Stopped in today for the first time-everything was delicious! My parents each ordered one of the specials, meatloaf with potatoes and green beans and red beans with rice and sausage. Both of them loved the food! My husband got a Philly sandwich, I ordered the New Yorker, and we both got a side of potato salad. Everything, except the bread, is made fresh, in the store, and it is delicious! We got a chocolate cupcake to go, and enjoyed it later at home. Will definitely be going back! read more

Best lunch I've had in a long time! This was my first visit to downtown Buford and I decided to support a locally-owned business. So glad I did. "B''s Favorite" is an exceptionally delicious sandwich, and the potato salad and fresh-squeezed lemonade were perfect pairings. Very friendly service, too. I'm a very busy person and trust that ordering online will be accurate once I pick it up. I get back to work and an item was left off the order. It was only five dollars but, I paid for something I didn't get. Email sent and no reply. That is what gives this place a lower score. Customer service is extremely important. Open the bag when you pick your order up and make sure everything is there. Had they replied with resolve, the score would be better. After all that, the food is very good, I must say.
