This was our second visit as we like to eat in the Arts District before heading to the Smith Center. It had been quite some time since our last visit. We had reservations a month or so ago, but it was First Friday and after circling blocks for about 20 minutes, we had no choice but to cancel our reservation due to lack of parking. We had no issues finding parking and walking this time. The service was great! So many places have been falling short in service, and they had multiple employees moving throughout the restaurant and helping tables. We didn't have to wait for anything. We ordered Brussels sprouts for an appetizer. I believe theirs were steamed. I've had better, but they were still a good option. I really enjoyed my petite filet mignon. They allowed me to sub spring vegetables for the potatoes. The burrata with chili oil and pistachios was a great touch on the fresh zucchini and squash. My husband eats a lot, and was a bit disappointed in only getting 3 scallops. He did enjoy his food nonetheless, and I shared some of my dinner as I had plans for dessert. I planned on the panna cotta, but when I realized they had pistachio ice cream in the affogato, it made my decision more difficult. Regardless, I did stay with the panna cotta and a cappuccino. Been here a few times - great experiences. Chef and owner walk around and greet tables. Wait staff is incredibly passionate about the restaurant and chef too. Wine list was great, and cocktails are reliable. Burger - big and juicy, a top burger in LV and definitely top for downtown. It's a quaity patty, and unique flavors so definitely recommended. Beef Tartare - yes! Buffalo cauliflower was flavorful- recommended. Mediterranean dip dish was also a good app - but quite filling. Portions are large, flavors are incredibly. One of the best steaks I've ever had. The meat was perfectly seasoned, not salty, perfect temperature, tender, juicy. The mashed potatoes were so soft and flavorful. The mushrooms in bordelaise sauce were fantastic. I didn't take a photo of the seasonal spring greens salad but the dressing and pickled strawberries with the bit of the chickpea crunch made this a memorable dish. Ambiance is excellent, lively but you can have a conversation at your table, even in proximity to the kitchen. Everyone was friendly and checked on us multiple times. Main St Provisions is a bar and restaurant located in the Arts District of Downtown Las Vegas. They might sound familiar to you since the Chef has recently WON on the TV Show Hell's Kitchen and has also been nominated for the James Beard Award of Emerging Chef. She will be gone by June to work for Gordon Ramsay so you might want to try this place now. They feature fresh fish and steaks but have other dishes too. Inside is a bar and also traditional seating with a view of the open kitchen. They also work as a team to serve you. We started out by sharing the side order of the Maitake Mushrooms as an appetizer. My husband loved them. He loved the rich beefy sauce. I was expecting bordelaise to be more wine forward but the dish was good anyway. For my main I had the Fish Of The Day that was Sea Bass. The fish was a good sized portion and was mild and flaky. The skin came out crisp but didn't stay crispy. This sat in a minted pea sauce that could have used some mint. It was also topped with some lemon panko that gave it a nice crunch. It was still very good but the tastiest part of the plate to me was the pickled fennel asparagus salad. It just popped the most. My husband had the Duck Breast. It was suppose to be in an orange BBQ sauce. This was too subtle with flavors to identify but the duck was cooked nicely. Lovely dinner! We came here before a show at the Majestic Rep across the street and our server, Courtney, was kind enough to ask if we had a show or anything to go to make sure we were out on time. This is the kind of place where regulars get "the usual" and the owners actually ask how you're doing and mean it. Seeing the husband-and-wife team working the room together and genuinely enjoying each other's company was a real treat, especially for Vegas! That kind of chemistry is rare and it rubs off on the employees and customers. We sat at the bar and the bartenders all had these cute shirts. I forgot to catch her name but our main bartender with the rubber duck shirt was so damn awesome. I joked that she was giving Able Baker free advertising! Their executive chef, Ellie Parker, just won the latest season of Hell's Kitchen and yeah I can see why. Happy hour every day. Good food, great vibes, zero pretense. They've been open about five years and, honestly, they're a big reason the Arts District shines. Yes I said it. Better than Esther's. The food and drinks are consistently excellent. "The Usual" changes daily and is whatever the bartender feels inspired to make. When we went, it was a rum-based cocktail that somehow tasted like those Asian tube popsicles in plastic. So damn good. The beef tartare was fresh and clean. The fry bread with dipping sauces was a playful nod to Indian flavors without being heavy-handed. And whatever sorcery is happening in that cilantro mint chutney... they need to bottle that shit immediately. We also had the pork chop, which was very tasty, and the fresh sourdough with lemon butter was excellent because of course it was. We'll definitely be back. read more

When we're in Vegas, we skip the Strip and tourist traps. We prefer to spend our time where the locals are eating and drinking at small, boutique-style restaurants that feel authentic and are usually full of regulars. One of the best areas for that, in my opinion, is the Arts District. On our most recent visit, we decided to check out Main St. Provisions, and it turned out to be a whole experience. The space itself is tastefully laid out, and a classy décor that feels welcoming without being pretentious. While there, we had the pleasure of meeting the owner, Kim, who is truly a lovely soul. She made us feel right at home. As luck would have it, we were there on the day their chef, Ellie, was competing on Hell's Kitchen, so I had to try her special pork chop from the show. My wife ordered the short rib, and we shared the Brussels sprouts and a Caesar salad. Everything was beautifully plated and tasted just as good as it looked. The pork chop was perfectly seasoned, and the glaze took it to another level. The short rib was equally impressive, tender and comforting, like a mini roast. For appetizers, we started with the Fry Bread and Dips, which were sooo addicting. Cocktails were a must, my wife had the Fig-urativey Speaking, and I went with I Know the Owner. Both were on point. Finally made my way into here and really really enjoyed it! Inside is absolutely beautiful and this is such a great spot in the Arts District! The service was absolutely stellar. A woman came up to our table who I am assuming is either a manager or owner and told us her favorite items. And our server was just outstanding. His name was Chris! To start, we ordered a couple drinks. I ordered the monkey bars drink which is a gin drink, and it was sooo good. Definitely an incredible craft cocktail. To eat, I ordered the MSP burger which was cooked perfect. We also got the rolls and dumpling, which was suggested by our waiter. The rolls were outstanding and sooo good! The dumpling was a short rib dumpling and it was interesting as it was just one big one, and didn't look like your typical dumpling. Definitely think this is a great spot for meat lovers. The greeting and welcome you receive at the entrance made you feel like they're very happy to see you. The dining room is spacious and no crowding of table so guests can move around without disturbing the patrons next to them. Our sever was absolutely great in helping us make decisions from the menu that aligned with our taste. The cocktails from the menu are a solid 5/5 carefully crafted and delicious. Main St Provisions' dining options represented many of my favorites. My meal started with a caesar salad with anchovies (my choice) and tasty pumpernickel croutons. The duck breast entree with the orange bbq sauce was very good earning a 4/5. Unfortunately, I filled up and no room for dessert but will sample the sweets on future visits. Ok. I don't live in Vegas but this is my 2nd time at this restaurant. Came last summer & had a great meal that included the best watermelon salad I've had in my life! So back in Vegas & it's Dec so no watermelon salad, but the seasonal menu had a roasted beet salad. It was good. The dressing is very good but there was just a tad bit too much dressing for me such that it drowned out some of the beet taste. And it was good but no where near as fabulous as that 1watermelon salad I still daydream about! For my entree, I got the seasonal fish which was black cod sitting on leeks with a mushroom broth. It was good. A light fish, flavorful. They have several interesting cocktails on the menu. I tried the Buenos Dias, a mezcal drink. It had a good taste, not very alcohol forward. I saw a few other cocktails I'd try next time. Our server shared that the chef had been on one of those cooking shows/contests (cant recall the name) but I always appreciate a chef who add creativity to their menu items. I had to snap a picture of her to add to my review! Our server was super friendly & helpful with the menu. The owner (I believe) gave us a very friendly welcome and the hostess acknowledged us again as we were leaving the restaurant. Went here for my first time after searching for a good reviewed place in the Arts District. I came here with a friend and we tried a couple of different items so this is a combined review. Starting with drinks... She had a beer and I had the Queen of Hearts. I struggle so bad deciding on cocktail drinks so I was nervous getting this. I'm happy to say it was beautiful and yummy. The rose syrup really did it. We ordered two appetizers: short rib dumpling and main st crab cake. She was very intrigued how the short rib dumpling was presented. It looks like a very saucy tennis ball. It was enough to split between the two of us. The sauce was very good. She was unsure on the shell but I liked it. We both agreed the crab cake was meh, it was a bit doughy, couldn't really taste the crab, but the butter sauce was very good. We decided to get the porterhouse and that was enough to feed three people. It came with two sides we choose the mac and cheese and brussels sprouts. I'm very easy to please but I did not like the brussels sprouts. They tasted liked they were steamed and that was it. I do not recommended. The mac and cheese was fine, I wanted it gooier. The steak we asked for medium rare....some pieces were medium rare others were more medium. Some bites had that yummy velvety taste but not every bite. Lastly our server was lovely, service was on it for filling my water cup, which I always appreciate. Overall, good for the occasion but I think I want to try a few more restaurants in the area before I'll be coming back. read more

June sees me in the Arts Dictrict a lot for the Fallout Fringe Fest; Main St. Provisions was conveniently open for an early dinner before a performance. Plus, Restaurant Week! Three courses, $70. Regular menu prices in parentheses. First Course choice Cajun BBQ Shrimp ($21): Six peeled good-sized crustaceans, with excellent snap bite texture, in plenty of souplike liquid. Lemon-forward; did not pick up the expected bold smokiness of the seasoning. Bread slices grilled to a nice balance of toastiness and chewable. Second Course choice Filet Mignon ($46): A 6oz hunk just edging into medium-rare territory. Sliced well, texture rather soft, meat flavor unremarkable but was a good conveyor of the punchy sauce and creamy potatoes. Third Course choice Panna Cotta ($15): Shaped like the very top of a dome, with a shiny ruby red roof. Not sure if any flavorings were added as I didn't taste any, but the consistency was perfect. Fruit delivered the much-needed sweet/tart boost. Also, Drink (not part of RW) HUDL High Hatter Pineapple American Wheat ($9): One pint in a cool-looking can. Value: The Restaurant Week menu was a pretty good deal; food itself was solid. I would not travel across town for it, but otherwise would be a dependable choice for a straightforward meal. Beer price in line with tourist Las Vegas. Atmosphere: Large space, sound carries, bright American style, decor not particularly themed to stick in my memory. It may sound like a general store, but everything I got was generally impressive. Main St Provisions is one of the anchors of the Arts District food revolution. Founded by Kim Owens, who was working the room during dinner service, and now helmed by a homegrown chef in Ellie Parker, they offer daily dinner service with a simple menu of "modern American comfort food." My Yelp buddy who suggested and frequents this spot said that they appear to have just launched a new spring menu, so I just focused on what sounded good on the menu rather than reviews. She raved about the Roasted Spanish Octopus ($22.00), so we shared a plate. I was fascinated with how the octopus came off with a somewhat meaty chew while still being tender. You could've fooled me in a blind taste into thinking it was perhaps a fancy tinned fish. The meat went well with the jalapeño aioli, which wasn't spicy at all, and the roasted potatoes were soft and delicious. For my entree, I went with their Duck Breast ($37.00), which cooked nicely medium-rare. It was meaty but not too chewy. It came with both an orange BBQ sauce and an orange gelee, and I loved the interplay between the American and French influences. The toasted farro was a filling pairing, and the wilted spinach and snap peas both added welcome textures. I also tried a bit of my friend's Short Rib ($39.00). The beef was very tender and flavorful, which is great when you just get a big hunk of meat like that. The Korean sticky sauce isn't a direct 1:1 translation of any Korean marinade I've had, but it's perfect for the dish. I really enjoyed that fluffy cauliflower rice too, and I wouldn't mind grabbing one of these for myself in the future. We kept it a short night, but I'll definitely have my eye on Main St Provisions for another time where I can hopefully delve into desserts and perhaps even drinks. Saw this place on the Cooking Channel and the food looked great. Specifically the Scottish Egg. Had to try it. Found that the egg hasn't been on the menu for years, but menu items looked great. Ordered an I Know the Owner (Old Fashioned) so good I had to order a second! Ordered the octopus appetizer. Was expecting rubber, but was very tender! Also ordered the half rack of lamb, the duck, and mashed potatoes side. All was excellent! My wife got the Bark at the Moon cocktail and my son got the Buenos Dias. They both enjoyed their drinks! We shared some appetizers. My favorite being the apple and pear salad. It came with large pieces of prosciutto, a pleasant surprise. I got the rib eye b/c I've been craving steak for a long time even though this is not a steakhouse. Why not. And while it wasn't horrible it definitely didn't impress. Maybe the cut of meat wasn't great? I don't know. But they do better at Texas Roadhouse. Overall this place is okay. Bright ambiance and an upscale feel. This restaurant was located in the Arts District near downtown Las Vegas. Great to see how this area has elevated! It was casual but modern upbeat feel to it. Had a couple drinks at the bar before we got seated for our reservation, party of 6. For starters - we had oysters, short rib dumpling, caesar salad and beet salad. My friend and I split the beet salad since they mentioned it was a large portion - wish it had a bit more beets, felt like it had so much arugula. The Caesar salad portion felt a bit off, needed more lettuce to the amount of large croutons. The short rib dumpling was good, something different to try and the oysters were great! Our main entrees were, the New York steak, Branzino, and 2 of the Porterhouse steaks with two side items. Side orders: shiitake mushrooms, Brussel sprouts with bacon, mashed potatoes, Mac and cheese and yams. The steaks were perfectly cooked. I thought the Porterhouse steak with two sides was such a great deal! Loved the taste of the filet which melted in your mouth. All the sides were good and great portion, my fav were shiitake mushroom and the fluffy mashed potatoes. Although we were all stuffed! Last night our team had an outstanding dinner at Main St. Provisions, and I can't say enough about the experience from start to finish. I booked our reservation about a week out -- last minute for a group -- but Liliana made the process seamless by personally calling to confirm. Imagine my surprise when she was also at the host stand to greet us! She remembered our conversation, welcomed us warmly, and asked how we'd discovered the restaurant. It was one of the best first impressions I've had walking into a dining room. The drinks and apps did not disappoint. I went with the Harvey Dent cocktail -- pickle magic is all I'll say. IYKYK. The main courses were equally solid. I ordered the filet mignon and it was cooked beautifully. Our server Desiree was friendly, attentive, and made the whole table feel taken care of without being intrusive. Midway through dinner, a loud party nearby made things a bit disruptive. From the moment we walked into Main St Provisions, we knew it was going to be a great night. Every person we encountered greeted us with a smile, which immediately set the tone for a welcoming and enjoyable dinner. Our waitress, Courtney, was hands down one of the best servers we've had in a long time. She was wearing a cat shirt, and as a fellow cat lover I instantly thought, "This is going to be good." I was right! She had a great sense of humor, was incredibly friendly, and stayed perfectly attentive the entire evening. We never had to ask for refills, check-ins, or anything else--she was always one step ahead without ever hovering. For dinner we shared the 32oz T-Bone, which came with two sides. We chose the potatoes and the mac and cheese, and everything was absolutely delicious. The steak was cooked perfectly and had great flavor, and both sides were just as impressive.
