Just made it back after a long hiatus. We went early on a Saturday night and had no wait. Our server came by promptly with menus and took our drink order. We shared the very larged combo platter and an order of onion rings. The onion rings were perfect and it was a huge basket. We have always appreciated their hush puppies and they were fantastic tonight. We have always found their cornbread to be just so-so as we prefer a moistter version. The portions are bigger than I recall but the shortbread it the same. The cusumber side salad was good. The brisket, ribs and pulled pork were all really good, The brisket was so tender! Updating my review after the restaurant rebranded as a deli. Overall I'm disappointed with the re-branding. I used to bring my family here regularly from GR when it was a BBQ joint, but after they changed it to a deli...well, let's just say it's not a destination any longer. Even though I was surprised with the transformation, I did try the menu. It was just...average. While I do get that perhaps Lowell didn't have a decent deli shop, SE Grand Rapids has several options. We don't have a lot of options for decent BBQ, so I am sad that it changed. read more

The atmosphere here is an old building turned into a restaurant. Which I always love. I love the exposed brick here. I ordered the Stick Ribs ($18). These are day old ribs sliced and deep fried and tossed in Hot Honey or Sweet Chili sauce. I chose hot honey, and I chose it correctly. The sauce was intense in its spiciness, but yet not too hot. The ribs themselves were excellent, there were bits that were over fried and un-eatable. However overall they just were nice and cruncy and juicy at the same time, while intense flavor. I got baked beans and mac n cheese balls. The baked beans were amazing, maybe the best I've had. If not top 3 for sure. So good I got another order to take home ($5). The mac n chese balls were very good, though I ended up dipping them in my hot honey sauce (delicious), instead of the spicy cheese sauce. It also came with a slice of cornbread, it was good, but nothing special. The person I was with ordered the Pulled Pork meal ($19), with a salad and potato salad. Everything was declared to be very good. The service was good. It was with a smile and seemed glad to be there and help. Overall an easy 5 star review! Would I return? Absolutely! What a great stop for wings, a make your own bloody Mary bar and to watch the Lyons. We ordered a cheeseburger, brisket sandwich, and spicy wings with fries and the Mac and cheese balls. It's hard to choose the best. If I had to it would be the spicy wings but everything was delicious WOW! Excellent food, atmosphere and staff. Kelly was hustling today. Waiting on tables, getting drinks, and slinging food. Amazing skills and still a friendly attitude. Restrooms are clean, and the building was easy to enter without steps. We were in town visiting some friends and wanted to meet at Main Street BBQ. We went at opening and were seated immediately. We ordered a fish sandwich and a massive burger. The Fish Sandwich was lightly breaded and was fine. We should have ordered more of a BBQ item. The Massive Burger was tall, but not that massive. The bun to meat ratio was way off. The coleslaw was not my favorite too as the veg was not as crisp as I would like it. The cornbread I got with it was the best thing we had during our meal. read more

The appetizers were decent. But the entrees were SO SALTY. Like, so bad I could t even eat it. The server did a good job-which is why this review isn't a one star. But that food! We were disappointed to learn that they no longer are a BarBQue restaurant. (overheard conversations from tables around us and they too were surprised and disappointed) We decided to stay and try it. The sandwiches were tasty, but we had difficulty with one of the orders that had some substitutions...it took our server 3 visits back and forth to the kitchen to get the original order filled. Our server seemed to be in a bad mood and this last interaction didn't help her attitude. We won't be back....the BarBQue was the draw...we can get sandwiches in our town. read more

we loved the old bbq menu and the new menu has a lot to offer. However, my question is what happened? The article in the Lowell Ledger mentioned the operating costs needed to be reduced. Well I guess the no plate, no silver wear and a sandwich wrapped in a to go paper saved them money. But the price of a sandwich $17, fries $3 and coke $3.50, (total $23.50) plus tax and tip was $30! I could have had a nice steak, baked potato, sautéed vegetables and a coffee for the same price with a cloth napkin, plate and silver wear elsewhere. I'm glad we have some newer options in town with excellent food for less with plates, silver wear and great service included. What a disappointment. read more

This place is great. I've lived in Lowell my whole life, and this place has always been here. I always get excited when we come here, because the food is super good! My favorite thing to get is smoked chicken, it's delicious. The service here is great, I've never had a bad waiter/waitress here. Today I had an especially great waiter who was super kind and understanding. The ambiance here is also great, it just has kind of a nice atmosphere and there's excitement everywhere which is really fun. Overall, this is why I rated it 5 stars. read more

Appetizer we had the fried pickles plain... they were good but I'd put them at about a 4 star. Had a little hint of spice. Sauce was good. They were really greasy and wet for about 2/5ths of them where the breading fell off. Not sure I'd get again. Had the sausage with baked beans and hush puppies. All were excellent. The sausage was really good. Definitely will get it again. I shared mine with my wife who had the brisket with potato salad and Mac and cheese balls. All of it was excellent. The cheese sauce w the Mac and cheese balls was so good. The brisket was so moist and flavorful. Kids scarfed their pulled pork. Had great flavor. We loved the menu before the major menu change. Their bbq was fantastic. This change is not for the best. We went there tonight for their bbq and were surprised by the menu change. It was as if they removed all the pork from the menu and raised all the prices. We decided to give it a try anyway but we're so disappointed. No plates, no silverware, and everything in either a paper bag or paper wrapper. My husband ordered the Sam Elliott burger and the server said he could have either chips or fries. She didn't bother to mention that it would be an upcharge. I ordered a hot dog and a brat dog. Big mistake, the brat dog was just a hot dog with kraut and dressing. The hot dogs were the cheap type, not beef hot dogs. Definitely not woth the price. We don't mind paying for good food and service, but this dinner was a stretch. I've been wanting to stop here for sometime, and I am so happy to have finally made a trip in for dinner! I ordered fries, mac n cheese, and the Star Spangled Pigwich- all were delicious. The bar tender, the host, and the waitress were all very friendly and helpful. Sauces were good, tasted to me like: a spicy ranch, Carolina mustard, spicy bbq, and a tangy bbq. Love this place. Great, friendly service. The food is always exceptional & the servings are generously sized. The restaurant is clean, well-decorated & cozy feeling for the bigger space. My favorites are the smoked 1/2 chicken, brisket sandwich & the sausages (especially the jalapeño cheddar special). The Mac & cheese is one of the best anywhere! Visited Main Street BBQ this past Saturday. The restaurant was clean, and well staffed. We ordered the Garlic bread cheese curds for our appetizer. They were served with a dark marinara type sauce. They were fantastic. We each ordered the combo platter. This meal consists of a sampling of ribs, brisket, pulled pork, corn bread and two sides. I chose Mac n cheese and French fries for my sides. The star of this meal was the corn bread. The server brought butter and honey to top the corn bread and it was amazing! As far as the sides go the fries were hot, crunchy, and delicious, but the Mac n cheese was not very good. It wasn't very warm and it was really mushy. The pulled pork was ok. It was a little fatty, and needed seasoning. The brisket had a good bark, and a nice smoke ring. It was tender, but under seasoned. The ribs were disappointing. Very dry, and very under seasoned. There are several different sauces on the table to sample. It is fun to try them. The spicy BBQ was my personal favorite. Our server was friendly as well. I'm only leaving three stars because I don't think that the quality of the food equaled the prices charged. read more

Might be the best food joint in town for dinner. Excellent brisket and that's what you should stick with. The brisket Reuben (so really more of a Montreal instead of a Reuben proper) isn't quite right, the meat is very good quality but there isn't the right balance of the other stuff, (thousand island or Russian dressing, sauerkraut). Good service even though someone in my group gave our waitress a hard time. Fun surroundings and good big screens if you want to watch a Michigan team play a football, baseball or hockey game. You'll have a harder time getting them to tune into a Northwestern or Brewer's game. read more

High quality BBQ in small town Michigan is well worth the drive. (Or when a colleague brings it to work to let everyone try)! Mega Meat Madness is what we had and it was perfect to try everything they offer. The mac and cheese balls dipped in cheese were full of flavor but I might have a heart attack. The cornbread was traditional southern cornbread that was tasty as well. The ribs were falling of the bone and had great flavor as well. The brisket was perfect for my taste and had some of the fatty cut that provides more of the flavor. I went to lunch with a few work colleagues of mine and the place was pretty crowded for a mid week, mid day lunch. We love Main St. BBQ at work. We order it for 95% of our events. The pork is always made right and with great flavor. The sides are delishes, we always get the house salad and mac-n-cheese. On our last visit, the food arrived before our drinks - and most of it was cold. After we'd eaten, we were finishing our drinks and chatting when our server approached us and asked us to give up our table since there was "a line forming." We finished up quickly and as we left we saw one party waiting for a table - not exactly a long queue. This place is pretty amazing; the ambiance, the bar tender, the server(Shawn) and the fooood... We all ordered various meals and none of us were even a bit disappointed! The only bad thing... okay it wasn't that bad and Shawn warned me that they run out early every time they offer them up on the menu and sure enough. The bacon wrapped smoked jalapeño bites were sold out (insert serious pouty face because this is all I wanted...) but the pork belly sandwich was probably one of the best I've had to date so that made up for it. We were recently on the hunt for smoked meat and ended up selecting Main Street in Lowell. What an outstanding decision. We had a little trouble placing our takeout order due to a very crowded restaurant and numerous other take out orders. I was placed on hold and decided to hang up after I waited for 5 minutes. Staff called me back using caller ID and I got our order in - though the employee couldn't hear me that well over the loud restaurant. I didn't mind the hassle because I was looking forward to trying this smoked meat fare. Our group ordered the combo meal (pork, brisket & ribs) in addition to two orders of smoked chicken. We love smoked chicken and were not disappointed. The sides included mac & cheese, hush puppies and fries. The smoked chicken was outstanding. High marks. We also enjoyed the other smoked meat offerings which our small party sampled. Not sure if I enjoyed the pork or brisket more - both were delicious. With the sides, we had plenty to go around our group of five. I was hoping for some leftovers, but no chance of that with this meal. Everything was devoured. When we came into the restaurant to pick up our order, we were happy to see a packed venue. What a neat restaurant with plenty of Michigan craft beer on tap. The joint was hopping (it was a Saturday evening). Glad to see a local place doing well. Before we left, the staff made sure that we had the right bbq/sauce options. I think we ended up with 3 or 4 different dipping sauces. I was impressed that the staff took the time to make sure that we had what we wanted. I asked our friendly service which meat he suggested and he said "why not 1/2 pulled pork and 1/2 brisket" so that's exactly what I did! One side was better than the other. It was lighter in color, I believe it was the brisket. It had a nice smokey flavor and extremely tender! I will say, black olives on the nachos can go. They did not match well with the onions, soft nacho cheese and the meats. Portion: HUGE. It's listed on the menu as an appetizer but it comes out on a tray slightly smaller than a small baking sheet. Our server recommended the Mac & Cheese Waffle as an appetizer - off the charts good! Nice selection of beers, not overwhelming, just good blend of draft, bottled, and craft brews. My wife had a Blue Moon and I had Dark Horse Amber. The beef brisket sandwich my wife had and the beef brisket dinner I had were delicious. The slow cooking and Texas rub style made all the difference. We live in Texas and it tasted like Texas BBQ! We were so full we couldn't order dessert. BBQ game on fleek. I had half regular brisket sandwich and half brisket ruben. Both were Smokey and delicious, but if the two I'd say the OG was my favorite. I went with the fried macaroni balls with cheese dipping sauce, which I thought was an interesting side and was not disappointed.
