What a great stop for wings, a make your own bloody Mary bar and to watch the Lyons. We ordered a cheeseburger, brisket sandwich, and spicy wings with fries and the Mac and cheese balls. It's hard to choose the best. If I had to it would be the spicy wings but everything was delicious WOW! Excellent food, atmosphere and staff. Kelly was hustling today. Waiting on tables, getting drinks, and slinging food. Amazing skills and still a friendly attitude. Restrooms are clean, and the building was easy to enter without steps. Street parking and parking lots near by so lots of options to get here safely.

We were in town visiting some friends and wanted to meet at Main Street BBQ. We went at opening and were seated immediately. We ordered a fish sandwich and a massive burger. The Fish Sandwich was lightly breaded and was fine. We should have ordered more of a BBQ item. The Massive Burger was tall, but not that massive. The bun to meat ratio was way off. The coleslaw was not my favorite too as the veg was not as crisp as I would like it. The cornbread I got with it was the best thing we had during our meal.

Deconstructed Sandwich (trying to eat the least salty parts) & collard greens (I was SO excited for these).

The appetizers were decent. But the entrees were SO SALTY. Like, so bad I could t even eat it. The server did a good job-which is why this review isn't a one star. But that food! WOW, just so so salty. The side of collard greens seemed like they cooked them with pork (which is salty) and then ADDED salt on top of that or it could be that they were old and the water evaporated and I got an older batch that had the bottom juices ‍

Excellent food, great atmosphere. I really enjoyed this bbq sandwich. This might be the only place you can get good bbq in Michigan. The place gets crowded, but there is a good bar with good beers to select from.

I've been wanting to stop here for sometime, and I am so happy to have finally made a trip in for dinner! I ordered fries, mac n cheese, and the Star Spangled Pigwich- all were delicious. The bar tender, the host, and the waitress were all very friendly and helpful. Sauces were good, tasted to me like: a spicy ranch, Carolina mustard, spicy bbq, and a tangy bbq. Will be coming back again to try out more.

    Combo Platter

Visited Main Street BBQ this past Saturday. The restaurant was clean, and well staffed. We ordered the Garlic bread cheese curds for our appetizer. They were served with a dark marinara type sauce. They were fantastic. We each ordered the combo platter. This meal consists of a sampling of ribs, brisket, pulled pork, corn bread and two sides. I chose Mac n cheese and French fries for my sides. The star of this meal was the corn bread. The server brought butter and honey to top the corn bread and it was amazing! As far as the sides go the fries were hot, crunchy, and delicious, but the Mac n cheese was not very good. It wasn't very warm and it was really mushy. The pulled pork was ok. It was a little fatty, and needed seasoning. The brisket had a good bark, and a nice smoke ring. It was tender, but under seasoned. The ribs were disappointing. Very dry, and very under seasoned. There are several different sauces on the table to sample. It is fun to try them. The spicy BBQ was my personal favorite. Our server was friendly as well. I'm only leaving three stars because I don't think that the quality of the food equaled the prices charged.

Might be the best food joint in town for dinner. Excellent brisket and that's what you should stick with. The brisket Reuben (so really more of a Montreal instead of a Reuben proper) isn't quite right, the meat is very good quality but there isn't the right balance of the other stuff, (thousand island or Russian dressing, sauerkraut). Good service even though someone in my group gave our waitress a hard time. Fun surroundings and good big screens if you want to watch a Michigan team play a football, baseball or hockey game. You'll have a harder time getting them to tune into a Northwestern or Brewer's game.

And to add insult to injury, our bartender forgot to add the bitters till after my sip. Pro move. Classic lack of mixology training. Now comes the best part of our evening. Should have listened to the kind old man at the previous stop to avoid this rebranded failed establishment. Our food has arrived tucked neatly in aluminum foil packets. I ordered ribs, kielbasa, Mac & cheese, and baked beans. My wife had brisket, Mac & cheese, and Brussel sprouts. Why did everything come in aluminum foil pouches. We were just told that everything just came off the smoker. Clearly it had NOT. Both of our meals were sooooooooooooooo SALTY that there was not enough water in the restaurant to get back the loss of moisture in our bodies. If I was a hunter, I would have used our meals to bait deer. Perfect little pouches of salt licks. Yes! We brought to the staff's attention. They were kind to take our meals off our bill and give us a gift card to use on our next visit. That was kind of them. But, the gift card has no use, because it has NO monetary value. It's just blank, nothing was loaded on it. The QR code just takes you to calling the restaurant. Classic marketing move. Back to our SALTY meals. They were so salty that I had to pull over to some random home and use their garden hose to get water. Burned my mouth from the hot hose water. I even feel bad for the late evening Trash Pandas. Maybe that's why we saw so many of them dead along the road. They died from dehydration from all of the salty scraps from the restaurant. I was so hopeful. We thought that after the rebrand from being Big Boiler Brewing and its failures they would have learned. Our advice, listen to your elders and NEVER go to the Hop Hog. Drive by. Keep going. Arby's is a little further down the road. They have the "MEATS".

They were just o.k., a little dry. The beans were nasty, couldn't eat them. The cornbread muffin looked like it was made in someone's garage, didn't even try it. The only potatoes they had was waffle fries or tots. The tots came out just slightly warm. Most BBQ joints have smashed or mashed potatoes or potato salad. No coleslaw. Have plenty of food left. Didn't even bother taking it home. The one glass of beer I had was good. Did give the server, Zachary, a 20% tip. He was a nice young man and a hard worker. It wasn't his fault the food was nowhere near worth the $29.68 I spent.

Valuing my life I stopped to let it go, and as I waited, noticed some folks lining up at this former gas station, by the looks of it. I went and got my wood but, determined to stop for lunch before the 1.5 hr drive to my jobsite, I popped into the Whistlepig. Four people waited ahead of me, one with a family-sized order, and my wait was about seven or eight minutes. That's when I snapped the shots Being a cheapskate, I opted for the pork sandwich, jambalaya, and collards. The order was bagged and handed to me practically instantly. I turned around to face a self-serve bbq sauce bar featuring 1oz containers to fill with your choice of 5 different *homemade* sauces and three or four from sweet baby ray. I left the grocery-store stuff for the next guy and filled up on the unique ones. The jambalaya was nice spice level and flavorful with a fair amount of meat. The pork sandwich was good, except for the lump of crispy fat which was DELICIOUS!! I think I've had better collards, though these were alright. I ate my meal in their track-side picnic table pavilion. A freight went by and was quite loud. So, it was authentic whistlepig ambience. I'd do it again. Next time I'll try the brisket, coleslaw, and hopefully some smoked chicken. And I'll get the dessert. Maybe if I get back there in summer they'll have the peach crisp!!
