Amazing tourist spots all around here, and this spot is a complement to everything! You must try this spot if you are in the area. I am 100 percent recommending the pulled pork Mac and cheese extreme grilled cheese. There are so many other grilled cheeses to try as well- you can't go wrong with any of the other choices. The place is a pretty small restaurant, but the temperature is so amazing that you can go out and enjoy the beautiful views outside. There are many tables outside. This grilled cheese sandwich is the best sandwich I have EVER had. Please trust me on this. When I come back to visit Massachusetts again, I will include this spot in my agenda. read more

We had lunch here Thu 8/19/21 after a morning of exploring historic Concord, MA. Very busy still at 1:30pm, but our wait while they cleaned the table was only five minutes. Very clean as they followed Covid protocols to the letter. Our friendly server was Tainee P who quickly brought our cool beverages, wine & iced tea on this hot & muggy afternoon. They offer a variety of cold drinks, wine, & a full bar. A nice cool window seat to refresh ourselves after our walkabout. I had a small NE clam chowder - very good & a big caesar salad. My bride had Cape Cod chicken sandwich Diced chicken breast, craisins, nuts, mayo, and lettuce on wheat) w/ a side of fresh fruit. Lunch was $65 w/ tax & tip. The a fair value in Concord, MA. Main St Market & Cafe has coffee & teas, a bakery and serves breakfast, lunch, & dinner. Open seven days a week Sun-Wed 8am-4pm & Thu-Sat 8am-8pm. Plenty of seating. Street parking and public parking nearby. So a very nice lunch in beautiful historic Concord which a must stop on the Lexington-Concord National Historic trail. Atmosphere was wonderful; service excellent; prices very high for small portions, overall food was mediocre. I had fish & chips, very good but the Cole slaw was not dressed well at all. I've always had good experiences at this place, so I was surprised today when I was somewhat overlooked at about 1:00 p.m. I was promptly seated at a high top at the back, but it took about 10 minutes for someone to come and acknowledge me. In the meantime, I watched as "Bob," a seemingly regular customer, walked in 10 minutes after me, took a seat at a high top in front of me, had someone clean the table for him, and take his order within a few minutes. In the meantime, I sat there waiting. Eventually, a kind server paused at my table and asked if anyone had taken my order. I told her no so she asked what I'd wanted and I put in a drink order, to start. Another 10 minutes went by, and this same server paused again--I'm fairly sure I wasn't in her section--and asked if I'd received my drink. Again, the answer was no. She went to check on it, came back to tell me that the drink had spilled at the bar, and then asked if anyone had taken my food order. Yet again, the answer was no. It was now 20 minutes into my time at the table, but she kindly took my order. Shortly after she took my order, Bob received his meal and drink while I waited. Finally, my drink was delivered by the server who I think was supposed to be helping me, but the drink was a mess and sloshed quite a bit on the table. After she left, the same server who had paused earlier, stopped at my table. She clearly recognized that I was somewhat of a ghost. She asked me to remind her of my order, which I did, and she went to the back and came back with it, apologizing for the delays. I, in no way, blame her for any of it. If anything, she was my hero. And Bob was nearly done with his lunch. I'm not sure what happened to the server who was supposed to be taking care of me, but it felt like I wasn't at all a priority, which made me kind of sad. read more

Pre-Covid this place was great for food and service. Been there 3 times since 2022 and they lost a lot since before Covid. Today (3/24/23) food took a long time and Turkey TIps were overcooked, wife's pot pie wasn't hot. Had to ask the waiter repeatedly for water, prosecco and then the check. Our waiter walked by a table with one person about 10 times and finally went to that table. No apology. $83 for that? No way. There are better places around. read more

Sadly, the only review I can give is of the service. We waited by the "wait to be seated" sign for 5 minutes while several waitress, and staff looked at us. Not one of them greeted us. Yes, they were busy. I get busy and short staffed. What I don't get is that no one stopped for a second to say hello we'll be right with you, or even to say sorry but we are overly busy and cannot serve you at this time. I would respect that. So we went to Helen's where we were greeted and seated immediately, the food arrived quickly and it was excellent. My wife and I stopped in on Sunday morning for breakfast and luckily, did not have to wait for a table. The Café offers takeout as well as table service. My wife and I both ordered the French toast with bananas. I had a side of sausage and she had a side fruit salad. The French toast consisted of 4 thin slices of bread. Not your standard American bread. My side of sausage was three links. It appeared our French toast was served with real maple syrup and the not the thick sugary corn syrup. The fruit salad was fresh. We were both very satisfied with our meals. The prices were very fair and the service was very good and friendly. There was street parking and a parking lot in the area. Folks, lets remember we are coming out of pandemic where millions of people lost their lives, and businesses closed permanently. I mention this because we sat next to two abusive, pompous, and nasty senior citizens who gave their waitress (who was also ours) a very difficult time because their pancakes were too big and he wanted smaller ones. So me and my friend went to the cafe and let me start with saying how pretty it is. The atmosphere is perfect for where they are located in concord and the empress lemonade was great as well. Unfortunately the food did not hold up well at all. The Mac and cheese was bland beyond bland even though there was beer inside it and the top of ritz was shocking to me. The Ruben wasn't even on toasted bread so by the time it hit the table it was soggy. The flavor of the calamari bowl was good but the calamari itself was overcooked and rubbery. The worst part of our time here though was that we both ordered our drinks at the same time 3x I got my last drink as we paid the bill and then proceeded to wait 25 min for her drink as she then had to walk in and they told her they couldn't give her another drink because they have a 2 drink policy as they gave me my drink even though we ordered at the same time. read more

A friend and I visited Main Streets last Thursday, between lunch and dinner. It was not too busy. After initially being told that we could not sit down if we were just ordering drinks by the young lady up front, (which we would totally understand if it were busy but there were several open spots and tables), a server, Raquel, happily said that she would take us. She checked up on us and attended to us as if we were a "regular" table & was incredibly kind. The iced lattes were good. Tip: caramel sauce. This is our second time visiting Concord and having lunch at Main Streets Cafe. The food is pretty good and served quickly. The place is charming, although the restrooms could use some TLC. The best thing abouyt MSC is the service. On this visit we especially loved our server, Will. He truly was the epitomy of New England hospitality, which is no nonsense and efficient. I asked him for an "obscene amount of pickles" with my burger, and that was exactly what he brought me! When we finished and walked over to check out the cemetary, he ran out the door to hand us my daughter's bookbag, which she had just left at the table. I live right around the corner and used to love this place pre-pandemic, but I've been several times in the past few years -- quality of food has declined and service is always painfully slow. I suspect they've been struggling with staffing. I'm pretty patient, but it still doesn't make for a good experience. I took my brother and his family here for lunch a few weeks ago, and between the wait times and mostly disappointing food, I wish I'd taken them somewhere else. After a serious spiral down in quality, smaller portions but higher prices and getting my orders wrong at least half a dozen time with takeout, it's just not worth it. PLEASE READ ENTIRE THING: From being a kid from a neighboring town, my family and I used to go here all the time when I was younger. Every fall we would go to Concord to see the trees and the leaves. After we would usually stop at this place for lunch. It seemed alright when I was little, but recently it was a different story. 3 friends and I- all in high school, attended this place after a dip in Walden pond on a hot day. Knowing this place already, I thought it would be a good choice to come here. We were seated soon after entering, but there was somthing off about our waiter. He was very brisk with us, and was rude when seating us- not treating us with respect whatsoever. I work in a restaurant myself so I understand that things can get tense sometimes, so I brushed it off as that.. When taking our orders he started to make small rude comments under his breath, and keep in mind, we were all being extremely respectful to him. It seemed very unfair for him to treat us like this, and it seemed like he was doing it just because we were younger. When our food came out everything was good, except my order was completely wrong. I was very respectful about it, and he offered to bring it back and they could make what I actually ordered with him. Im not ragging on him for the mistake at all. Again, I work in a restaurant, so I get it. But... when he was talking to me about all of this, he was getting obviously annoyed with us. Eventually, I got the thing I ordered, and the food ended up being solid. This guy though was just on our case the entire time from the beginning. Heres the kicker- He brought the check out and we asked to split it 4 ways. Right when he was putting it down on the table he said something along the lines of "you gonna run away after looking at that?". Something completely rude and unprofessional. Totally not ok to say. It felt like we were being profiled by this guy just because we were younger. At this point we were all done with his BS. He gave the first person at the table the handheld to pay, and he tipped around 15-18%. A pretty ok amount especially for bad service plus, we are still just kids ordering $20+ burgers (like, what the heck????!!) , I dont know what people expect. But our waiter says something along the lines of "wow- ok" sarcastically. I ended up tipping but my other 2 friends just had enough of his rude and confrontational behavior and just paid and left. After that he started to get straight up angry and yelled at us. At this point we just left beucase we couldnt stand him anymore. We all had a horrible experience with just the worst service ever. Came here on a Tuesday with some friends. It was a lovely, warm fall day and we ordered a Mediterranean flatbread and some chowder. This place is interesting and offers several things. Flatbreads, hotdogs, burritos, quesadillas, chowder, and ice cream. I probably missed a few things too. We were lucky enough to score a table outside under the umbrella. The chowder was nice and creamy. I had just a taste, and my friend filled up on it, so he only had a small piece of the flatbread. They did NOT skimp on ingredients for this dish. Every inch was covered with a generous portion of olives, artichokes and cheese. It was quite tasty as well. I'd definitely order it again. Heck, I'm going to try to make it at home! read more

Not sure if this was the norm but we should have known better given the craziness at the hostess station. We eventually got a table outside but it did not come with a server. We did flag one down after we had waited over 10 mins. We decided to order a couple of starters for our light lunch. The calamari was very good but the buffalo cauliflower was a bit weak. We came an hour before closing and ordered a few things to-go. The food took a while but that was expected. However, we realized at home that some of our items were forgotten or different from what we ordered. It was obvious that the staff were trying their best, so I don't blame them. Rather, I think the management should have shut the doors before 4pm because big groups kept coming in last minute and making things overwhelming for everyone. When a restaurant is centrally located, and well populated- you might expect things like slightly slower service, and food that is prepared quickly, and not 4-5 star quality - but good - good enough to eat and come back. The ambiance is fun- a bustling cafe with lots of people. But, having eaten at this cafe three times now, I just have to say that we won't be back- the food and service are just not good. The menu is large, and at first looks like there's something for everyone. For apps- there's beet salad, wings and truffle fries; entrees include risotto, grilled salmon, pot roast, gumbo and fish tacos... One might expected they'd reached a level of organization so as to present these varied menu items with fresh ingredients to satisfactorily meet expectations of guests. The reason to "have something for everyone" would be to demonstrate the the kitchen was organized in a way to serve these items simply, with fresh ingredients. To appeal to the trends, there is plenty of "smashed avocado" on the menu- in sandwiches and on the fish tacos. My question after having some of that was - is this canned guacamole? Is there no one prepping fresh avocado in the AM? The fish tacos with "fresh grilled fish of the day" seemed appealing, so my date had the avocado BLT and I ordered the fish tacos. I requested sliced avocado (I am not a fan of guac, and take no chances), and asked for no sauce on the tacos. The servers were busy, and I took care to make sure she took our order- though it seemed as though she was unable to modify the order on the device she was using, though she assured me the order was taken with those requests. Our food came out quickly, as on the menu- without the requested modifications. The fish tacos tasted like frozen tilapia, strong flavor (barely warmed BTW), topped with a pickled purple cabbage (why not fresh?) a heavy, sweet sauce (not lemony or bright, but sweet and gloppy), "fresh" tomato salsa and "smashed avocado." The last two ingredients had the appearance and taste of having been prepared days before, with a sad, opaque appearance. The taste matched. The same smashed avocado came on the BLT, which, as one of my hubby favorites- was forced down. Is there no one prepping fresh avocado/ ingredients in the AM? The server came out only after we were finished, and even seeing the innards of the fish tacos pushed to the side only said, "Oh you don't like guacamole?" It is so frustrating to see lost opportunity like this. I don't recommend eating here. Both of us had stomach aches for the rest of the day! read more

I have been wanting to visit this location for quite some time. On Sunday, I was able to make it happen!! I visited with my son and daughter just before noon time on a beautiful winter day in New England. Upon arrival, we noticed that there was no line and a short 5 minute late, which we later realized was a blessing because we beat the crowd! Service was great. We had a very nice waitress, who was easy going and very friendly. She was there when we needed her and her attention to detail was noticeable. The food was fantastic. We had pancakes, french toast, home fries along with a BLT sandwich with avacado. The portion size was perfect. Not too much, not too little. My son thought the coffee was fantastic. He was able to serve himself at the "honor tray". He thought this was a great idea! We did not have dessert, as we had enough with our meal. We plan to return for lunch, sometime this Summer. We did notice that the other customers seemed a bit "snooty". A lot of people staring at each other. This may have been because the table were so close to each other. This did not bother us, but all 3 of us noticed the same thing. If you are ever in Concord, MA (site of the start of the Revolutionary War) this is worth a stop. read more
