My understanding is that the Maine Diner is an institution in the area. For years I've seen their advertisements on television and I've seen them get all kinds of recognition on local and national food shows. We went in for a quick breakfast on a Tuesday at about 11:30 on our way home from Maine, just before they began to fill up. Definitely seems like a spot that both tourists and locals alike flock to. We ordered a chili cheese omelette and blueberry pancakes. The omelette was alright, though nothing to write home about as the chili wasn't my favorite. The homefries looked good but turned out to not be as seasoned and flavorful as they looked. The pancakes were the best thing, very thick and you get a generous portion, but they could've used slightly more blueberry flavor in my opinion. For the most part it's very run of the mill diner fare in a very simple atmosphere. It works as a fairly quick, decent spot when you're in the area or passing through, but aside from that I don't think I see myself going out of my way to stop at the Maine Diner.

I've been waiting to go here for years. It's a diner on the side of the road. It's cute outside, and is packed with people inside. Our server was incredibly sweet. When she saw my dad taking a picture of my mother and me she grabbed his phone and took a picture of all three of us. I got the meal that had seafood chowder, lobster pie, with good potato salad and coleslaw, and dessert (blueberry ice cream, so good!). It was the ultimate Maine dining experience. All the food and service was great. The only unfortunate part was that we were charged for an extra lobster pot pie meal. I tried contacting the business several times, and my name and number was taken by one person, another, after I knew I needed to speak to the owner, told me he was always really busy. I think even with paying for another meal we didn't receive, the place is still pretty great.

The food was good, not outstanding but good. It's Maine in July so a 30 minute wait for food is normal. We had our puppy so we ate outside so it was quiet

Nice little meal here. Not really my favorite stop, but I do fear that I screwed this one up and it wasn't on them. It happens.... It's got the old diner feel to it, for sure.... You get the nostalgia of the place as soon as you walk in. After I ordered, I had buyers remorse as I had not gotten some of the more famous things this place had. I am now still upset as I type this. The Lobster Pie and some of the namesake lobster sandwiches would have probably been much better than what I had. I was a bit burnt out on seafood and it was breakfastish time. I screwed up and ordered something that I knew I didn't like but thought I might be wrong. Nope. I was right, that I was wrong.... I got the country breakfast, with CITY HAM! What a moron!! I hate city ham and have no idea why I ordered it. Hate it! Hate it! Hate it! Mad at myself for being a dumbass. It came with beans on toast and I ordered some kind of local sausages too. C had corned beef hash and eggs, and stole my beans and toast. I had some sausage gravy too to slap on them biscuits. Server was nice. It's hard to remember exactly because I lost my internal cool.... I did good keeping it contained, I don't think C even picked up on it as I am mastering my ability to have internal meltdowns with no external visibility. C did learn something here.... She likes baked beans on toast.... We are now looking for ways to get this elsewhere. We live in Memphis, so it's not that common. So we now ask for toast at BBQ places. Tehehe Sausage gravy was pretty good. Biscuits were fair. Hot Italian Sausages were very good, I liked them much better than city fucking ham. Beans are really nice with a good flavor and a nice kick. The side of potatoes were tasty. City ham sucks and should be banished from the planet earth immediately! I may make it back, if I do, I will get the Lobster Pie probably! Message me if you have and let me know your thoughts. We love you Maine!!! '26 - 20

Amazing diner experience. Was visiting from California and stopped by since it was featured on Diners, Drive-ins, and Dives. It has your classic old school dinner feel, with the friendliest staff, and stellar food. We had to try so many things as they are famous for multiple items - loved the seafood chowder, lobster pie, blueberry pie, and blueberry chip ice cream. Linda, our server, was also the sweetest and shared more about the food and the area. Definitely a must try spot and will be on my list next time I'm in the area!

Came here on a Monday morning and had a great experience! If you are looking for a little diner this is a great option! The menu has a variety of breakfast and lunch options. Our waiter was so friendly and we were able to be seated immediately. Parking was also very easy. I was feeling more lunch so I ordered a cup of She-crab soup and a side of homemade codfish cake. Guy fieri has been here and he fried the codfish cake so I had to too!! I loved both of these! I thought they were great. I also thought the prices were very fair for ~$8 for soup and ~$6 for codfish cake. I would definitely come back here especially for a classic diner feel!

14 years after I tried the lobster pie for the first time, and several visits since then including today... And the lobster pie is still the greatest thing I've ever eaten in my lifetime! Winner and still champion!

The famous diner featured on triple D! Went in with high expectations and it didn't 100% deliver. Though don't get me wrong, great food. Ordered the lobster pie, baked haddock, seafood chowder and stuffed mushrooms. Mushrooms- overflowing with stuffing. Serving came with like 6 and weighed probably 2lbs. Stuffing was yummy but couldn't really tell that it had crab in it. Very yummy though Seafood chowder - looked like a cup of milk with a ton of seafood. Flavor didn't exactly make me think "famous" but plenty of seafood and pretty tasty Lobster pie - dang small pie for about $40, but breading was packed with flavor. Bunch of pieces of claw. Though you charging me for more than a whole lobster but only giving a couple of claws? Little disappointed but had to try it because it's a famous dish and the breading really delivered on the flavor Baked haddock - also fairly pricey for a small portion of fish. Needed tad more seasoning I think, but grateful for a haddock that's not fried Coleslaw - they delivered! Need to teach other places to make it Food was a bit delayed, no harm there. Very busy location. Staff very friendly as expected. Yes do try this and give your take. Inside looks classic and just plain awesome. It's an experience

Great seafood chowder. Lobster roll is good. Have to stop here every time we are in the area.

Came here for lunch around 1230pm. Just at the peak of service. Waited a few minutes for a table but were contacted quickly by the server. Drinks came stock as did the chowders. Got the seafood chowder and the clam chowder. Clam chowder was very thick, a little thicker than I am used to. Saw later on while eating the server scooping chowder from the pot behind the register and you could tell it was thick and also running low as she dipped the Kassel in pretty far to scoop some chowder. Seafood chowder was good. Ordered a cheeseburger and thought it came with lettuce and tomatoes but I was wrong. Just came plain with cheese. Tasted good but I wound up using one of the tomatoes on a chicken sandwich that came with two tomatoes. Noise was a little loud but that was expected as the dinner was packed.

Welcome to the Maine Diner, a staple in Wells, Maine serving quality food at reasonable prices! You can also get breakfast anytime!! I've been visiting this spot since I was a kid and have fond memories. I remember waiting an hour for a table some mornings due to its popularity (luckily this morning there was no wait). This time around I ordered one of their combo plates, the Aces High. It came with everything I was craving, one egg, one strip of bacon, one sausage, toast, AND a blueberry pancake. Everything was delicious, but the star of the show was definitely the pancake, so fricken good. The interior is cool as it has that old school charm and photos of celebrities that I think have visited the diner. Our waitress was very sweet as well and food came out quick. Visit the Maine Diner!!!! Ps. They also have a cute gift shop next door. I got some goodies to bring home for my boyfriend!

What can I say about the Maine Diner. It's the best diner in the town, even the whole state of Maine! Whether you go for breakfast or lunch, you will not be disappointed. Why? Because the food is good, it's like home cooked food away from home, price is very reasonable. The people working here are great! I have been coming here for many years because I visit the southern towns of Maine yearly. And my family was told to come here a long time ago and we have been coming ever since. Never disappointed. And they have a nice gift shop to come to and visit after. One thing to know. In the summer, it's get very crowded. There are long lines in the morning for breakfast, that I remember well. It's no surprise though. Their food is great, blueberry pancakes are amazing! If you have not been, well what are you waiting for? It's a must if you are in Wells.

The highlight for me is, without question, the two-foot lobster roll. It's huge, loaded with fresh lobster from end to end, and served on a perfectly soft sub roll. We came here at around 5PM on a Monday, you know, prime time dinner hours, and the place wasn't too busy (it definitely got busier). This place screams New England from the second you walk in to the second you leave. The cozy environment and seafood based menu kind of makes picking what to order pretty easy, especially when a two foot long lobster roll is a menu staple, so that's exactly what I ordered. The lobster roll came with chips that I wasn't even able to touch since the giant roll and lobster consumed every inch of my stomach (I really should have gotten a smaller one). I gotta be honest here, I ordered the giant lobster roll hot and with butter and I couldn't even tell if butter was used or not. I think my main issue is how dense the roll is, at some point I had to just start taking the lobster off since the bread was so thick. Overall, Bull N' Claw is a solid seafood restaurant in a state built on sea food restaurants. I totally get why my parents love this place, but the lobster roll itself was pretty bland compared to other ones I've had in the area and I probably won't be returning on future trips to New England. The staff was great, the place looks really cool, and this place is definitely somewhere worth checking out because it might just be a favourite for you.
