While working on the island these last few days, I had the opportunity to take 3 hours of my busy day and go for a body scrub, wrap, facial massage, and shampoo. It was totally an immersive experience and I could not have asked or more relaxing break My masseuse was named Kate. She was very friendly, very helpful and she explained every step of the way as she was proceeding through each one of the processes. I would and will definitely be going back next time I'm on Island.

First time here and the lady at the counter was really nice. She ended up the one who did my body scrub. My sister and I had a wonderful time there some of the clientele was fun to be with. I did the cold water bath and I did slowly get in; however the Korean ladies that was they were playful having splashing me with the cold bath. Let me get back to the scrubs. The body scrubs were excellent. She definitely scrubbed every nocks and cranny on my body. The scabs that were coming out was probably the 3 years since I got one in Seoul South Korea. I'll definitely will return since my sister said she loved it there.

Ask the Community - Makaloa Sauna

Hello, if I book a one hour body scrub do I have access to the cold-hot bath and the steam sauna?…

Hi there! Yes, with purchase of any body scrub or spa packages, you have free use of the hot/cold tubs and saunas at no extra charge. 😊

    Can you wear swimsuits?

Hi, Jennifer! Sorry, for hygienic purposes we require everyone to thoroughly shower and enter the baths without any clothes. We offer gowns for privacy, and the baths are exclusive to women only. Hope this helps! Let us know if you have any more…

Hey guys! I am obsessed. Ok so the place is located on Monsarrat where cars are kind of flying on…read morethe road so be careful. There are tons of street parking on Monsarrat and the side roads. I lucked out and found parking right across the street. As you walk down the ramp you see a nice lawn, 2 story large house and the barrel. I happen to go on the day that the run club meets later that evening so there was an ice bath in front. We are welcomed with a warm smile and the host answers all of our questions on all of their services: sauna, cold plunge, red light therapy and IV drip. He handed us towels and escorted us to our section. We opt and go for the contrast therapy. I wasn't sure what to expect since this is my first time but the combination of heat in the sauna and cold in the ice bath is a game-changer. He recommended that we do the sauna for 15-25 minutes then 3+ minutes in the ice bath. Our section is a beautiful oasis. As you walk through the gate there are black stones and plants that create a serene area. The sauna is in a shape of a barrel designed with natural wood and glass doors that add a modern touch. There is a shower that we used to rinse between going to the sauna and the ice bath. We got 45 minutes that I felt was enough time to do both twice. The sauna was relaxing and the cold plunge a shocking but exhilarating experience. I could feel my circulation improve and a decrease in inflammation. I highly recommend this place! I left feeling refreshed.

I managed to make it up to my neck for about a second before I scrambled out of the tub. My second round lasted longer at about 45 seconds. Then I made it to 1:15 and 2:10. I spent 10 minutes in the sauna between rounds and took cold showers between my plunges. This felt remarkably good, especially in light of the deep soreness in my body from running a marathon. My partner and I made a date out of it. It was a great way to have some screen free time that is so undiluted. I loved it and will be buying a package to come back. The space is beautiful and serene. There are two sides each with a sauna and cold plunge. The girl at the front desk was both helpful and friendly. This is her jam and it set me at ease. Studio 7 also operates a run club on Tuesdays. I may have to try that out as well!

Finally she said 6pm but we had to come in at 530pm. We said fine. At exactly 530pm she called us as we got a little lost and we're behind. She showed us the saunas, dry and wet with hot and cold pools. Our massages/scrubs were at 6pm and she said shell call us. We just got situated when our masseuse came in around 550pm. They demanded we go to our massages now which felt rushed but whatever ? The lady told me to just go and I could go to the spa later. Its a room with 4 tables and everyone is naked and exposed just FYI. No privacy. My lady starts scrubbing me throughly but then starts talks to the other lady in korean. She laughs as she says "kokori" in korean as she rubs my belly. Her and the other lady starts laughing. They gossip a bit more until I start death staring at them nakedness on the table. They begin to shush each other by saying "shhhhh". Ummm not very peaceful experience. I did the one hr combo, scrub, soap massage, scalp, facial.. and my lady was definitely not a professional masseuse lol. She was basically running her hands up and down me like a slip and slide. Her facial was her flicking my face aggressively without targeting specific muscle groups or areas. I told her to be gentle on my scalp since I was nervous at this point. When it came to check out the lady at the front/owner? Got really aggressive with me for not leaving a tip. It was pretty awkward. Not someplace I would recommend as relaxing. Although my friends person was really good, her name was Jay if you decide to go :) When we checked

We had the Platinum Body Scrub (#5), and one had the facials only. My technician was Mina. She performed my service package. At other spas I've been to, different people performed different tasks in the spa package. Mina was excellent at everything, from scrubs and massages to facials. She was professional, friendly, and thorough with her work. She also provided instructions after each item session (my package included facility use, scrub, massage, and facials). I got to the facility ~30 mins before my appointment. An employee walked me through the facility and provided instructions. I used the hot tub and plunge pool before the scrub. After my session was done with Mina, I had lunch with friends. After that, I used the dry and charcoal rooms. The business was clean and organized. They had lockers for us to store our things in. The posted signs on the wall were a little confusing, but you can always ask the staff if you are unclear. They were friendly. In the beginning, I was a little nervous about booking for my group after reading the negative reviews and responses, as I wanted the day to go smoothly since we were there to celebrate birthdays. Anyway, I'm glad it went well :).

I was honestly blown away by both the service and the amenities. I did the basic scrub package, which came out to around $100 total including the $50 entrance fee, and it was absolutely worth it. The entrance gives access to all the spa amenities including the charcoal sauna, red clay sauna, steam sauna, dry sauna, hot tub, and cold plunge tub. I came in around 10 AM without an appointment and they were still able to accommodate me for an 11:30 scrub, which I really appreciated. I highly recommend making an appointment though, especially if you're planning on getting a scrub or package service. I was able to experience all of the amenities, and for most of the saunas I actually had the rooms to myself, which made the experience feel even more relaxing and peaceful. Honestly, this would make a perfect solo date or even such a great girls' day activity. My scrub was done by Young, and she was amazing. She made me feel comfortable the entire time, maintained eye contact while speaking with me, was very personable, and provided such attentive service. You can tell she genuinely cares about making clients feel at ease. This was actually my second Korean spa experience in Honolulu, and honestly, the other one doesn't even compare to this level of cleanliness, service, and overall atmosphere. The only minor thing that made me slightly uncomfortable was during checkout while I was tipping -- another worker or possibly co-owner was standing directly behind me, and I wasn't sure if she was looking at the screen. It wasn't enough to ruin the experience, but it was the only moment that felt a little awkward. Other than that, my experience was amazing from start to finish. Definitely worth the visit, and I could easily see myself coming back monthly.

Service - 5 stars Ambiance- 5 stars…read more I visited Spa U'ilani last week for a Anti-Aging facial. I wanted to spend the entire day in here! As soon as you check in for your appointment, there are forms you will have to complete and while you do that, you are provided with a warm face towel and soothe the nerves and to begin your relaxation treatment. The staff member that greeted me was very warm and welcoming. You are offered a luxurious robe and slippers to wear during the entirety of your spa treatment. Prior to entering your treatment room, they ask you to wait in a beautifully curated and super cute room with a water dispenser and mixed nuts for you to enjoy while you wait. It was a whole vibe with low lighting , modern touches and such comfortable lounge chairs. Donna was the female who served me. She seemed very knowledgeable about how to better care for my skin and was thorough with each step she took. After your treatment, you have the option to take a nice, warm bath in their state of the art, delta showers and help yourself to the products in the bathroom. I can't wait to visit again :)

I had a wonderful massage experience at Uilani Spa from the moment I walked in. Everyone who works there is friendly and attentive. I was greeted with a refreshing hot towel for my hands and given a consent form to complete. Then I was escorted to the women's locker room with a bathrobe and slippers, where i changed and stored my belongings in a complimentary locker. Afterwards, I relaxed in a quiet, dimly lit lounge until my massage therapist, Yumiko, retrieved me. She expertly honed in on my problem areas before she began working on me. My shoulders were very tight and in pain while she worked on them. I heard my spine pop a few times. It's that moment of "Ahh..." when the pockets of tension you didn't know about are released and you wonder how much you were low grade suffering in daily life without realizing. I signed up for the lomi lomi massage, which I've never had before. I'm not sure if the hot towel treatment is part of every massage they do here but it's a nice touch that helps undo the knots. It's like Uilani thought of every little thing to help you relax beyond the massage itself. The massage cot can be adjusted to a seated position, which is how my massage ended. It's like they're easing you back into being vertical again. The experience continues: You go back to the lounge where you sip iced tea and eat a small crunchy snack before you leisurely make your way back to the locker room for a hot shower. Shampoo, conditioner, body wash, towels, a blow dryer, Q-tips... all provided for you. You're not rushed to pay and get out. This place is about 50% more than another place where i had a one year membership, but all the little touches they use to enhance your relaxation and enjoyment make the experience so relaxing. You didn't just get a massage, you got a full relaxing experience.
