I went here the other evening for an early and casual date night with my boyfriend. Everything we ordered was outstanding. Already looking forward to going back! The highlights for me were the jasmine flower Pilsner which was delightfully aromatic and similar to a floral tea, the sizzling noodles with chicken, the dumplings and all of the bao buns. Easily the best restaurant in Baker, and top 3 in all of Denver. Had pretty much everything on the menu with a big party and nothing missed. They don't hold back on spices or flavors. Yes. It is as good as the hype! Really, really good, and very nice people. The location is in the River North Art District. It's fun to walk around on a Saturday morning, then stop in for lunch. 2nd visit- Had the fancy wun tun tong, mala wings, spicy chicken bao buns, and the crab and cheese wontons. The fancy wun tun was soo good and very flavorful, the mala wings were to die for (my favorite), the chicken bao buns were okay, the crab cheese wontons were on the sweeter side for my husband and I, but in the culinary world you take chances and try new things...so bravo to them for experimenting with ingredients and new flavors and making something different that you don't normally get at other restaurants. Overpriced and underwhelming. Came here bc of the stellar reviews but felt like it was very overpriced for what it was and the portion size. Scallion pancakes were crispy but way too thin. Sauce that came with it was alright. Wontons were tasty, not amazing. Chili oil on the side definitely helped. Ginger scallion noodles had good ginger flavor but it was just oil as the sauce. Noodles were kinda hard. Needed chili and protein but adding a protein is extra $4. Salted egg toast was decent, nice filling. Service was good, so quick! Ambiance is cute, chill, casual dining. I was pleasantly surprised by this restaurant. Smaller menu which is how you know it's good. I got the spicy noodles with pork belly and it was amazing so much spice and flavor. I remember MAKfam from Avanti but I'm always in sensory overload in there, so I was somewhat unprepared for the MAKfam restaurant experience. We drove down from Evergreen to check it out. In short, it was well worth the drive! The restaurant is fairly small but very clean, and the staff was both friendly and helpful. We started with the slightly sweet pork belly bao buns and the spicy Málà wings. (I'm a huge fan of Szechuan peppercorns so the wings were a given.) For dinner, we shared the salt and pepper chicken rice plate, the XO shrimp fried rice, which was a bit spicy, and the *very spicy* sizzling spicy noodles. The wings and the noodles were too much for my husband, but that just means I get the leftovers for lunch tomorrow! Each dish was delicious and I can't wait to go back. read more

Fantastic and highly exceeded expectations. We went on a Saturday afternoon, and even though I had expected it to be busy, it wasn't. We had brought our 6-month-old, which I realized was risky, so I was thrilled when we were easily able to snag a table. We ordered the garlic butter rice cakes with steak, scallion pancake, wings, spicy noodles, and all of the bao buns. My favorite were the rice cakes, but would get all of it again. We heard great things about makfam and we decided to come here on a double date. We were so excited to try it; however, the service ruined the experience. Wait times were long and the unclean table we sat delayed our seating from 35 to 50 minutes. Our drinks never came after 30 minutes. I went to the counter to check on them and speak with a server. The drinks again never came. I had to ask another server - she was great and brought them out. Shortly after we were then told we had to leave because they needed our table for a reservation... we had been sat for less than an hour Their website also suggests they don't take reservations - We never got to finish our drinks. What a cool place! Service was good. We ordered at the counter and got to sit where we wanted. They brought each dish out as soon as it was ready so everything came out fresh and hot! The tofu bao bun was amazing. The Thai Basil Ranch on top was so flavorful and unique. The market greens were good but extremely salty. Loved the stir fry (I subbed tofu for beef)! I just wish there were a little more veggies. This dish was also a little on the salty side. They are very accommodating for vegetarians and vegans! Really great food! Everything was delish. Be aware that food comes QUICK. After ordering you will get all your mood in 5 minutes. A bit hectic for us who ordered 3 apps and 2 entrees, to have everything delivered at once, but that's the style. My wife and I have been frequenting this place since it was at Avanti. We're so glad to see them open up a brick and mortar. The food is extremely tasty and we have yet to have a bad experience. We usually sit at the bar where we're greeted by Grace, the bar manager. She's super friendly, informative, and attentive. She's the only thing we like better here other than the food. That actually goes for all the employees. Honestly, all the employees are so friendly. Everyone is always smiling and making sure you have what you want. Check it out, get the mala wings/mozz sticks. Such a disappointment for a place with great reviews. The scallion pancakes were beyond salty. The crab rangoons were not crispy and too sweet. The wrong food was brought to our table three times, including a pork bao bun which I ate thinking it was tofu as a ten year vegetarian. When someone brought over my actual tofu bun & I realized what I happened, I told them and not even an apology or anything. I also dislike how you need to get up to place your order, get utensils, etc. and are still expected to tip 20%. Definitely won't be back. read more

Braved the weather and tried MAKfam for the 1st time during the frigid cold. It was -2 when we arrived for lunch on MLK Day. Luckily we tried almost the entire menu and it warmed us all up nicely. Went with: crab and cheese (so good! almost desserty) chinatown dumplings (great!), mala wings (these wings actually have meat! were piping hot and so crispy), chicken & egg fried rice (yum), salt & pepper chicken rice plate (thinking this was my favorite. super crispy chicken, good spice. would have been perfect if I just wanted one plate of something), sizzling spicy noodles (this was everyone's favorite - such a good bite to the noodle and the spice was perfect) Pork belly bao (good but I prefer actual pork belly. this pork was like carnitas...shredded) and beef stir-fried noodles (prob our least fav if we had to pick one. weird when most reviews say that's their favorite). Then for drinks - gotta try the pork fat old fashioned. Don't remember the name but it was great! Really love all their beers too. I must find the peppercorn lager that I had. It was delicious and complemented my meal so well. Decor was cute and the staff was polite. Food came out fairly quickly. Wishing it wasn't counter-service!
