I was disappointed in my last visit to Walt's. We took my son's car in because the brakes were pulsing. They called me and I told them that is what I wanted fixed. They said the technician did not see anything wrong, but they would test drive again. They then called my son to pick the car up without fixing the brakes. I don't care if they did not see anything wrong. I wanted them to turn the rotors and charge me for it. We ended up taking the car to a brake specialist and had the brakes fixed. Do not go to this shop unless you want to be scammed and ripped off by having your issue misdiagnosed, sold services you don't need, and charged higher-than-the-dealer exorbitant prices for the pleasure! This is a detailed review of my recent two visits to this facility. The good, bad, and ugly. Only 3,000 miles ago, I brought my 2012 Nissan Rogue here to replace the driver's side CV axle (torn boot) and fix an oil leak. They diagnosed the leak as needing a new oil cooler and oil pan gasket, which they replaced. I also asked them to check the brakes. They claimed my rear pads were down to 2mm and needed new pads and rotors. I only authorized the pads since the rotors were perfectly fine. At that time, they said front brakes were nearing replacement, but the rears were critical. The prices were high, but I was short on time and trusted them--my first mistake. Fast forward to last week, just 3,000 miles later. My second mistake was returning. The car was still leaking oil on my driveway in the exact same spot. I wanted them to re-check the leak under their 3-year/36,000-mile warranty. I also requested an oil change, asked them to look into an SRS airbag code (passenger seat occupant sensor), and requested a general inspection. Hours later, the service manager, Paul, called with the diagnosis and the red flags started flying: They did the oil change. No problem there. They couldn't fix the airbag issue, told me to go to the dealer, and waived the $171 diagnostic fee. Fair enough. Paul said the oil leak was coming from the CVT transmission pan gasket and quoted $700+ to repair and service the CVT. I was highly suspicious because the transmission was replaced less than 15,000 miles ago by the previous owner and the leak was in the exact same spot on my driveway. Red flag #1. He claimed my front brake pads were down to 3mm and the rears were already at 5mm. He tried to upsell a front brake job with rotors for $600+. This made zero sense since they just replaced the rear pads only 3,000 miles ago (new pads are 8-8.5mm). Red Flag #2. He tried to sell engine and cabin air filters for a ridiculous $170. This is a cheap, 5-minute DIY job, and not even the dealer would charge that much! Red Flag #3. I told Paul to wrap it up, paid for the oil change, and took my car. This week, I took it to an honest shop down the road that specializes in Japanese vehicles. They inspected it and found the truth: The CVT transmission pan was indeed leaking. However, their estimate was $200+ cheaper than Walt's to repair and service the CVT so I let them fix it. They also found another leak from the CV axle seal. Walt's suspiciously failed to diagnose this, and it was likely caused by their own poor workmanship when replacing the CV axle on my last visit. Best practice is to replace the seal with the axle. Walt's either reused or damaged the seal when replacing the axle assembly. I did not trust Walt's to honor their warranty nor their ability to repair it without breaking something else. This cost me $400 to replace the leaking seal. They measured the brake pads: both front and rear pads and rotors were completely fine and measured at 8mm! Either Paul lied about them being at 3mm and 5mm to force an upsell or they are incompetent to even measure the brake pads. Go anywhere else. If you do use them, absolutely get a second opinion. There are far more honest, professional shops out there. I will never go back. read more

Their employees stay....next to no turnover. Can your dealership say that? I think not. The techs get to know your vehicle. Management and the employees get along. It's a rare trait these days but it's alive and well at Walt's. Do yourself a favor and at least try Walt's. Don't throw your hard earned money away at an uncaring bloated dealership. Went in for a major service (105,000 mile) on my 2015 Honda Odyssey. They replaced the timing belts, water pump, spark plugs and performed valve adjustment. I also had the oil changed at the same time. I had an excellent experience at Walts. They did extras such as rotating tires, performing additional inspections (e,g., brakes) and washed the car. The cost was much better than taking it into the dealership. I will definitely being going back to Walts for future work. read more

I used to love Walt's, but after a bad experience there, I won't be going back. First, I was told I had an oil leak that was going to cost major $$ to fix. I took it to another shop for a second opinion and they could not find any leak. I had front brakes done here. Two to three years later, I find out that the brake assembly was installed incorrectly. So now I will have to pay another mechanic to fix them. And finally, I had a clunking issue with the car. I was told that it was the shocks and struts by this shop. So those were replaced, costing a significant amount. This did not fix my problem. Instead, the service manager was like, "My daughter had a similar issue and it ended up being the sway bar links, which is pretty common." It WAS the sway bar links. If they knew this was common, why did they go for the most expensive fix first?? This really ticks me off. I felt like I was scammed by this shop. I won't be returning. Really disappointing because they came highly regarded by a friend. But I guess things have changed since Walt sold the business. read more

After my experience this past weekend with Walt's Auto Service I had to come here and give them a review. It was my first time using them and was really happy with their fair prices but most of all, what I find more valuable is their honesty. As I told Sisi, it is so hard to find auto repair shops that are trustworthy because I've been burned so many times. I took my car in because it was having electrical issues and I could not figure out what was going on. They charged me a fair price for the diagnostic and called me a couple of hours later to tell me that it was a 10 dollar part that was missing and that I only owed them the price for the diagnostic and the price of the part. I was so appreciative that they were that straight with me. Some places quoted me a ridiculous 500 dollars for the diagnostic alone. Usually, in my experience, another auto shop would have taken advantage of the situation and would have charged me a ridiculous amount of money. Three weeks later we hadn't heard anything so I went in and they said that they had exchanged a computer chip that was $700 but they never contacted us to tell us that did not work. The first time I came in, I didn't figure I'd get serviced right away but they did make an appointment for the following morning (it was for the "Check Engine" light, so my car was driveable).
