Service ranges to pretty friendly to just ok. Good beer specials and nice atmosphere outside and in the bar area. Ate there for the first time last night and wasn't too impressed. Got a chicken sandwich which was basically just avocado and kind of tough grilled chicken on a pretty soggy roll. Edible (although I only ate about half) but I wouldn't return for that. Should have known it would be good by all of the cars in parking lot, but we did get seated promptly and wait staff was friendly and efficient. We went to a late lunch yesterday. We asked if it was happy hour being it was nearly 4 pm. The waitress said no so we ordered beers not on the happy hour menu. It was fine. The waitress came back and asked if there were any questions, my mom asked if she could get a pizza off the kids menu, the waitress clearly didn't want to do it so said she would speak to her manager, which was fine. She came back and said we could order flatbread. I told my mom my she wouldn't like it. My moms never liked a flatbread. Should have been no big deal but we asked for a few more minutes. She came back and we all ordered. I asked to have my bowl of soup, which wasn't even hot. I never asked for it to be taken off the bill, just said I didn't like it. The rest of the food came. The nachos were cold, the cheese curds were barely warm and the chicken wings were also barely warm. When the waitress asked how everything was we let her know, three of the items were cold and not good. Pretty soon the manager comes stomping over, as we're eating the rest of the food, and told us to leave. 4 out of the 5 of us were still enjoying our meal. He refused to listen to us, just told us to get out and he would cover the bill. Keep in mind we never asked for anything to be taken off the bill. Had an unfortunate meal there last week. My beer glass came dirty, looked like it still had some left over Bloody Mary mix on it. The waffle fries, which are usually amazing, came hard with little potato in them. The first bite of pulled pork sandwich I ate was straight fat. Always busy, especially during game days of any Minnesota sports. Good bar food but they aren't great food wise. Service is usually pretty good in my opinion but they can be very bothersome sometimes with checking in on you during busy hours. I have so far had very positive experiences here. I have been to Malone's a few times. The food is good, but when I tried to make a reservation the guy who answered seemed to have no idea what he was doing. I was put on hold for a good while, then a woman answered and told me they were "no longer taking reservations for today". So apparently you can't make same-day reservations or there's some sort of time limit on when you can reserve a table. She said I was welcome to come "sit and wait" if they were busy, she clearly didn't understand the reasoning behind calling ahead. We ended up going to another nearby restaurant that happily took my reservation request when I called. read more

Very busy for a Wednesday night in the bar area but we able to get a table for a group of 5 in the dining room without too much wait. Service was good our waitress very friendly and patient when I couldn't make up my mind on what to get. I had the turkey burger which was seasoned well and had a bowl of the chicken rice soup on the side which was the highlight of my meal it was very good. One of the guys I was with had a steak and he said it was cooked exactly like he asked. He didn't seem to care for the French onion soup though. One of the other guys I was with said his burger was great and everyone seemed to enjoy the waffle fries I am almost sad I got the soup instead. Came here on a busy Saturday and once again, I had the best service. We were seated within 10 minutes and right away greeted by our waitress. I've never had such great service than I did from her. She checked in on us plenty of times, and made sure that we never had an empty glass. The veggie burger and waffle fries were delicious and enjoyed the atmosphere. Will definitely be back soon! its hard to write a review of Malones because there are a lot of good and bad parts to this place depending on what you are looking for. Food - LOVE their cheese curds. Really good burgers, super fresh and crisp salads. entrees are pretty big in size and tasty as well. I haven't had anything here that has disappointed my taste buds. Staff - they have always seemed friendly to me. But they can get a little busy and after you have been served, don't expect them to come back. The restaurant tries to turn you over as quickly as possible. Even if you are seated in the bar area. Atmosphere - Busy, Loud, and Fun if you are looking for that. If you are looking for a quiet place to eat dinner, DONT COME HERE. the bar is 65% of the restaurant and it is LOUD. The music is turned up, so accordingly, people have to talk louder to hear eachother. Plenty of TVs to watch your sporting event. price is pretty accurate to me, more than apple bees, but cheaper than Redstone. read more

When we arrived we were given a buzzer/pager to notify for our table. We went to the bar for a beer. After about 20 minutes the pager went off. It took a bit to get the bartender to close out our tab ( it was busy). By the time we got to the host she told us they cancelled because we took too long. That was really stupid. You guys need to think about dumb policies like that. You went out of your way to annoy a paying customer with a thoughtless policy. read more

I love this place. Their HH prices are great and so is their customer service. They make you feel like a regular even if you're not one. First time out of town visitor and loved it! Chose this place just because of the name (Post) Malones. Started with the French onion soup which was one of the best I had. Sorry for the long write-up, but I wanted to get the story complete. I've always been extremely pleased with the food at Malone's, however my experience last night left me very, very disappointed with management and their customer service. Went to Malone's with my wife, two kids, and my parents to celebrate my birthday. We arrived shortly after 5 and the hostess informed us of their happy hour appetizer specials, available until 6 oclock. Once seated, we ordered 4 items off of their happy hour special menu (two of which were to be meals for my wife and mother) - all items we would not have otherwise ordered if they had not been reduced price specials for happy hour. An hour and a half later when we were done and paying the bill, we noticed that the waiter hadn't applied the happy hour pricing to those items, so we brought it to his attention (no big deal, it happens), at which time he informed us that because we had been seated in the dining room, we could not order off of the happy hour menu and had to pay full price. We politely asked him if there was anything he could do for us, since we had been told by the hostess about the specials, no one had told us we couldn't order them in the dining room, and the only reason we ordered those was because they were specials. The waiter went and asked his manager if he could help us. The manager (a younger man the hostess later told us was named Austin) came over, asked us what the situation was, and then proceeded to tell us that regardless of what we had been told, it was their policy not to provide happy hour pricing to guests seated in the dining area and that he would not honor the pricing we were originally told. The waiter then came back and apologized to us for the situation and what his manager had said, and told us if it was up to him he would have given us the deal, but his manager wouldn't allow him to do it. Poor management. I've never had a manager completely ignore a legitimate claim before. We never got upset or raised our voices, we simply explained the situation and asked to be given the pricing we were promised, and when they said no we paid our bill and left. At the end of the day, the food was still terrific, but the experience did put a damper on my evening and really slanted my view of the establishment based on how they treat customers. read more

My first time was completely satisfactory! Went for lunch, took a seat at the bar and was well taken care of by an excellent, friendly and attentive bartender. The food was one step above run of the mill bar food in both quality and price although not overly priced for the quality. Atmosphere caught my eye right away...loaded with TV's, smiling servers and a chill, easy feeling. I had been holding off sharing this story with anyone until I had a chance to speak with the owner. I had a chance to speak with him today so here is the review... So here is the story. And as I get ready to type this out I am still in disbelief! Myself a mom of 2 last Thursday night decided to get out for a MUCH needed ladies night out! My friends and I decided on Malone's. Here we are 4 moms enjoying a little time away from the kids and MUCH needed drinks! We ordered food and drinks and were having a GREAT time until it all went sour! I ordered a second beer... Yep. That is how it all started! I ordered a second beer and when it arrived I realized it was 10 minutes until happy hour. So what normal person wouldn't ask if it was on happy hour price? I mean 10 minutes away. The waitress had not informed us of this when I ordered. So I ask if it was happy hour priced. Her response, "Uh... Happy is at 8 pm." I mention it being 10 minutes from Happy Hour and would she hold onto it until 8 so I can have it at the happy hour price. (This is not an outlandish question) She proceeds to roll her eyes and walk away like I asked her to scrape gum from the bottom of my shoe. Moments later someone who we thought was just a manager comes over to the table with said beer. (He doesn't tell us who he is) "Mam, What do you want me to do with this? You want me to waste this beer and dump it out" (imagine condescending tone). I proceed to tell this man I would like it at happy hour price if possible as now we have just 8 minutes to go. I proceed to ask if he minded just holding onto it and for sure don't dump it out. His reply,"It doesn't work like that." So I then went on to mention how close we are to the time. Response... "Well it will be piss warm." Sadly, I drink a beer really slow so that wasn't going to effect me in the slightest. That aside... this is how we are being spoken to during this really easy make the customer happy moment. BUT obviously as you can see customer service in not top priority. He leaves with the beer after speaking to me so completely unprofessionally! The waitress comes back and asks if we would like water and a new friend sits down. We inform the friend of the evening's events and first to mind for her was, I BETTER wait and added 10 minutes to order for good measure. I want the happy hour price. A little time goes by and my friend gets her order in and I tell the waitress that I am good without the beer now. I basically told her I don't like how I was treated over the whole thing and I used a choice word to describe the man who was so inappropriate. ... BAM less than 2 minutes and here he is WITH that same beer and says " You don't want this now? " I proceeded to tell him I don't like how I was treated and I am all set with having it now. He THEN puts the beer down on the table. Puts his hands on the edge of table, leans in and says in a tone that I can not give descriptive words to give justice "TELL ME WHAT I DID." I respond, "seriously?" His comes back with a "Yeah. Tell me what I did!" I proceed to tell him I am not going to do this right now and that I am all set with the beer. I thank him as now I am concerned he may go really crazy... He says, "You need to leave!" YES, you READ that RIGHT! I am thinking to myself WTF? This guy is NUTS! Here I am a MOM out with other mom friends and EVERYONE at the table has their mouth dropped to the floor! I seriously asked if he was kidding. He responded with "No. You need to leave and you can never come back. I'll cover your meal." (Not like ANY of us will ever step foot near Malone's after this treatment) I explain that I am not leaving my friends and ask if he is covering the whole table... The answer he gave..."YES!" Are you READING this and wondering how $2 off a beer wasn't a better choice than covering the ENTIRE close to $70 tab? Yep... we are still scratching our heads over it! This man proceeds to WALK the 4 of us to the door and he says to one of my friends, "I am sorry about your friend and you all have to leave because of her." Her reaction was PRICELESS! Here it is... "Um. What? Do you understand it is YOU?" He was so angered that she didn't agree with him and that his scare tactics were not working... he storms off and says, "I am not doing this anymore" The 4 of us decide to walk over to the other side of the parking lot and enjoy a WONDERFUL meal at Patrick's. We now had lots to talk about with all this entertainment! AND we all fell in love with Patrick's a restaurant none of us have ever tried! So honestly that part turned out GREAT! NOW for the kicker! I made every effort to connect with the owner of Malone's BECAUSE if I were an owner I would for SURE want to know of a manager treating customers this way! I get on the phone with him this morning and GUESS WHAT... This crazy guy who took this $2 off to the next level IS THE OWNER! Told ya it was a kicker! read more

Malone's for lunch today, they were off the hook. We had a short wait, to be expected. They seated our party while was in the restroom, but as soon as I returned to the table I was promptly asked for my drink order. I liked our sever she was attentive and professional. I ordered the taco salad, it was good. They put guacamole and fresh jalapeños on it which was little different than any taco salad I've had before, but I liked it.
