Went with a party of about 24 people. Got a banquet room. The service was on point- they were all very prompt and courteous. Unfortunately that was the only positive. The appetizer buffet had a limited selection- including crackers & cheese- the roasted vegetables were served cold, the crab cakes were unpalatable, the calamari was soggy and flavorless, the sushi was fine, but not fancy- just basic tuna and cream cheese rolls. The meals were a disaster. First- wedge salads for all- those were okay, then on to the meals. I got halibut and it was completely overcooked and flavorless- not even a sauce to liven it up. We were brought family style bowls of room temperature potatoes and assorted vegetables. I ate a few bites. My dad got the bacon wrapped filet and it was okay, aside from the bacon being semi-raw and rubbery. The cheesecake (that was our ONLY desert option) was fine. Although it's hard to screw up cheesecake. Overall it was a big disappointment, especially since the bill was well over $1000. read more

My friend and I went here on a Friday night around 6 so of course the wait was 45-50 minutes which is to be expected. We sat in the bar and ended up ordering and eating there. It was very very loud and we were sitting so close to the other customers that I felt like we were all together, which is ok I guess if you feel like meeting people...and it is the south so they were all very friendly. I ordered the grilled salmon with a baked potato and of course the Lexintonian salad. I wanted a glass of wine and when I asked about two of them the waitress (in the bar mine you) didn't know anything about the flavor or bouquet or anything and had to go ask the bartender which I found strange. The salmon was delicious. Moist and meaty with a little crisp around the edges. The baked potato was pillowy and delicious and of course the salad was great. I would go back but maybe wait for dining room seating or make reservations if I wanted a more relaxed dinner. read more

So went to the Palomar location yesterday with friends and started by ordering a Four Roses Barrel Proof neat. My drink came back on the rocks (more on that later), which happens sometimes. The waiter took it back no problem yet, but then he brings it back. The glass is cold, there's almost no smell to it, the color is a pale yellow, and when I take a cautious sip, it's clearly watered down and cold. Obviously not a fresh pour, but recycled from the glass full of ice chips. I sent it back again, and this time the bartender delivered it, and she apologized (weakly) and said "I just poured it through a strainer, you must really know your Bourbon to be able to tell the difference". A stand up bartender would have apologized for the sloppiness and comped the drink. She was trying to get away with it. Regarding the rocks pour, filling a glass with ice chips works for a Diet Coke, but that's really pour form for Whiskey. My wife's cocktail came with a small iceball in it, perfect for a rocks pour. My drink was watered down before it hit the table. Very disappointing, overshadowed the rest of the meal. read more

The Lexington Salad is amazing! Love the atmosphere & staff is always wonderful. We never have to ask for refills or wait for empty dishes to be removed. They are always on top of things and the food is perfect every time. This is one of our favorite places!!! read more

Disappointing. Went here last night with daughter and her boyfriend. Split the twin filets. Asked for medium well. One steak perfect the other was pretty much rare. The boyfriend ordered sirloin medium well and it came out very well. We sent the rare steak back and told the server about the other steak being cooked to beef jerky. They acknowledged the mistake but didn't offer us any incentive for our inconvenience With that being said I would say it was just ok here. Really good food and a nice atmosphere. Didn't realize it was set up to be able to order off of 3 menus. We started with Spicy Shrimp Roll from Aqua which was good but cut poorly (different sizes). My wife had a gnocchi special that she loved. I had the Kobe burger which was one of the best burgers I have ever had! I thought it was really cool that all 3 restaurants were available to order from...we sat in Malone's and ordered entrees off of their menu, but you have choice of Aqua (sushi) and Harry's ( bar food) too....you can sit where you want depending on what type of atmosphere you are looking for. All in all it was a great choice! read more

My wife and I went to Malone's tonight for dinner as we knew from past experience that this was a good place to eat with good service. Unfortunately, our experience this evening left a lot to be desired. To begin with, we were totally ignored by no less than 6 employees hanging around the front entrance area while we waited for approximately 5-8 minutes. We were the only persons waiting to be seated during that time. The hostess then arrived and set us at a table. She was friendly and after setting us, wished us a good evening. This was the only person we got to speak too. For the next 8-10 minutes we sat and watched wait staff walk around our table serving other customers or just hanging around. At a nearby table, several wait staff were gathered around a customer laughing and joking. Never did any staff make eye contact or stop to ask if we had been served. We never even got a glass of water! At this point, we felt totally ignored and was not going to wait any longer. So my wife and I left, went to a nearby restaurant where we were immediately greeted and made to feel welcome. We received prompt service and was even given a discount card for our next visit as it was the first time we ate there. Two totally different experiences. I will not visit this Malone's again. read more

Went last night and set on the bar side called Harrys and ordered the two 4.5oz twin filets with chimichurri which came with a salad and one pound baked potato the salad is probably one of the best i've ever had if not the best . The bartender was very professional and always aware of everyone's drinks and carrying a conversation when he could see that it was permitted . Atmosphere was nice and warm even when doors were opened to the outside temperature being frigid since the patio is enclosed in glass during the winter they have wonderful heaters. No complaints on this visit money well spent. read more

Typical cheesy stark house menu, nothing special about preparation of the cheap ingredients. I had to send my steak back twice only to just keep it but not eat it. We've been to Malone's a half dozen times now. The first five visits were great. Excellent service, good drinks, wonderfully prepared steaks, good side dishes and a nice atmosphere. They have a wide selection of dishes, but you really should go for the steak on your first visit. There are a wide variety of preparations and toppings for the steaks including all the major cuts. I'm partial to the dual filets with bleu cheese topping. The Sushi bar can provide some interesting rolls to go along with your meal or be your meal. I skipped the steak on one visit and had "Cal's Chicken". It was flavorful and excellent. On the most recent visit we were let down a little bit. The restaurant was quite loud and our party of 5 were seated at a round table in the middle of the room that could fit 8. By the end of the meal, we had folded down the table leafs so we could hear each other speak (and still had plenty of room). Our drink order was a bit messed up. A dirty martini was incredibly salty (more than should be expected) and an ordered Gibson was delivered with olives since they had ran out of onions. To their credit, they sent one of the staff to the store to get some onions. But probably should have cocktail onions in stock or at least asked if a different drink would be preferred rather than delivering the wrong drink. My steaks were great, but another's Prime Rib was dry. The Lexington salad, broccoli, asparagus and baked potato (loaded) sides were great. The Mac and Cheese was a letdown (dry and not very cheesy). We decided against dessert. Interestingly, someone called the next day to ask about our experience (not done for any of the last 5 visits). A nice touch, but really didn't express any concern when I reiterated the above other than "I'll tell a manager". I haven't heard back and don't expect to. I plan to return to Malone's (the food is usually excellent) and I hope the above issues were just a one-time event. read more

I called the day before to make sure they could handle my numerous food allergies. The manager checked to see what type of oil the potatoes were coated with and discovered there was soy in the oil, so they baked a potato just for me without oil. They also allowed me to bring in my salad dressing and potato topping with no fuss, and they were really good about my meal, including grilling my steak on a piece of foil just to ensure no cross-contamination. And a day later, I still feel great, so no allergens! The menu was large, the atmosphere nice, and the wait staff were attentive without being intrusive. Two thumbs up for this place! read more

Wow. I never thought I'd ever put a 2 star on a Malones. Last night was by far the worst experience I've had. Food was bland, service was subpar, etc. We didn't get all of our food the first time around, it took forever to get our drinks and the sushi was borderline awful. My steak was decent, but not worth the $40.00 price tag. I've heard a lot of people complaining about the overall perception of Malones declining over the past 6 months. I hope they change, but I can honestly say I won't be back for a while. read more

Our server Amanda was very friendly and helpful and made us feel welcome for our first time at any BGH group restaurant. The food was delicious, especially our appetizer- the Aqua crab Rangoon roll (it was to die for!) We shared the "The Calipari", a filet mignon with fried lobster. It was good but didn't knock our socks off like our appetizer did. Perhaps that's a sign we should order solely off the Aqua menu next time. We will definitely be returning. read more

Malones is my to go to place for steak!! I always get either the twin filets or the 12oz and they have never failed me ! The house salad dressing is amazing so creamy and delicious! If you like lobster their lobster mac and cheese is delicious. Also their potato croquettes you can't pass up. I saw a post complaining about food their I have gone a couple of times with a large party and somebody didn't like their food or they weren't satisfied and the manager himself or head chef would come out and offer a replacement to make it right! Food was ok. Service was very poor. Waiter forgot to bring the salad, so after reminding him he brought it with the meal. One order at our table was wrong as well. Then twice during the meal we had to ask passing staff to get our waiter to come to the table (for water and drink refills). It was not for lack of staff - there were 4 or 5 waiters/staff standing in a group at the edge of the room. They just did not seem interested in engaging with their customers. It's unfortunate, as we would love to have a great steakhouse to go to nearby. But due to the service, we will not be back. read more

Truly delicious, but it can get a wee bit pricey. There are more financially managable options on the menu, but if you want steak (which is what they are known for) plan to go home with your wallet feeling quite a bit lighter. The house dressing for their salad is my favorite. And if you have room (or even if you don't...it's THAT good) be sure to try "The World's Greatest Dessert." I had high hopes from Malones based off their reputation. I was not impressed. The prime rib was a big portion but way to dried out and tasteless. The fried oysters were good as was the service but a piece of meat like that should only be found on a Chinese buffet somewhere. For a seventy dollar meal You gotta do better folks. Empty glass of wine. Empty glass of water. Steak that tasted old and not fresh. Not impressed. A very disappointing evening. With being one of the top steakhouses in the US they might want to step it up. No one, not one person from their staff asked how the meal was and if we enjoyed our time there. Malone's is the jewel of Lexington. Excellent food, excellent service. Whatever your type of food, Malone's has it and can prepare it to perfection. If you like your food plain - stripped down - they will prepare it especially for you. Like something different and delicious? Try their specialties. People go their especially for their Lexingtonian Salad. Their Salmon is the best. I'm told their steaks are fantastic. The atmosphere is upscale, yet comfortable. Disappointing. The food was good, but based on the hype in other reviews and advertisements, I expected more. The service was very rushed. Given the quality if restaurant that this is billed to be, I expected to be able to finish one course before the next arrived, but that was not to be. We started with the crab Rangoon roll, which was very tasty. Our salads arrived soon after and before we'd finished the starter. The Lexingtonian is lettuce, tomato and bacon with ranch dressing. Good, but nothing special. We had filets. These were cooked very nicely, but not outstanding. I would explore other Lexington restaurants before returning to this one. read more

I did not mean to give them two stars. We entered the restaurant at 4:30. The self important young lady in charge handed us off to another. We walked by several empty booths and the entire middle section was empty. We were seated at a small dark booth. We asked for something else. She conferred with manager and came back to tell us that she would "try" to find something else. Manager approached and was lacking in customer relations. After awhile we got up to leave. The girl was returning. We asked if we could have a booth. She said that they were booked and no. It was 4:30. There wasn't anyone in lobby waiting for all those empty booths and tables. We left and went to Sedona TapHouse where we were treated with kindness and respect. They appreciated our business. read more

They have a great music selection and a good salad but that's about it. i've found that the sliders are good but the steaks are sometimes over cooked and always over seasoned. The fish is always frozen and for a seafood and steak place this should not happen. The service is good but the food just really mediocore at best. read more

I really liked Malone's. It was a little weird with the, I think, three restaurants in one. But the food was good and we really enjoyed ourselves. I had a filet and it was cooked to perfection. The plating was nothing impressive...just a big white plate with the sides in a little dish. But there was no way to complain about the food itself. It was delicious and I would return in a heartbeat. The staff was really nice and we never felt like we were wanting anything. All in all a great restaurant. I've been dining at Malone's since 2002 and have had almost always had a fantastic experience in my large sample size (approximately 100 times). The quality of the food is impeccable and is as good as any major steak house, yet the prices are more reasonable. The service is almost always great, but not quite as consistent as the food. I think the restaurant gets so congested at times that service gets a bit slow - it's fine if you aren't in a hurry, but I would go in there with the mind set that you are going to be there for an hour at minimum, and maybe even more if it's your first time. The steaks are the go-to with Malones, but you can never go wrong with anything else on the menu. I always enjoy the original Malone's as well (Tates Creek) but the other ones that I have eaten at are just as good. It's good to know I can get a high quality dinner when I am in town in Lexington visiting family! I've traveled the world and eaten at many good places and Maline's still ranks high on my list! read more

Be sure to make reservations during this time of the year. I was with a group of 8 other women for our monthly meeting. We got our table right away and the two waiters took down our orders. This waiter knew everything on the menu and was able to answer our questions. Our salads came to our tables pretty quickly and they even got our special ordered salads done correctly. We didn't have to wait long for our main entrée's to come out too. I was extremely pleasure with the service we got this restaurant. read more
