They offer high chairs which is a plus if you're coming with toddlers. Service is quick and the food is decent. Got their 5 meats and an order of their bo lat lop which was okay. This restaurant was so overrated, they had a slick video my sister watched it on (YouTube I think) so she insisted we went there for a family reunion. We waited 40 minutes for a table for 11 people, I almost wanted to leave. They advertised ayce but who can possibly eat more than 1 plate? So much rice it's filling. The worst dish was the $39.99 for a fish soup n caramelized catfish, so overpriced n all the grilled meats were so sweet it was inedible. were so sweet , the dipping sauce was literally syrup, I added so much lemon but couldn't get rid of the overwhelming sweet taste. The egg rolls were bland no substance what in the world did they put in there. Service was so slow n they forgot to bring my order! I had to eat from my husband plate! The coke was 100% flat I complained n got no relief, most restaurant would have replaced it w another drink, very bad customer service. I was very upset at how I was treated n will never come back here. Long story short: My family loves Com Tam Dao Vien. They have been a loyal fan for years and refused to try broken rice any where else. This means they can eat here ALL year round. I gotta agree with them though, the marinated pork here is so flavorful, not too sweet, the pork texture is tender and the smell is AMAZING.. My goto here is usually is the Vermicilli with Spring roll since Im not a big fan of rice platter. However, in my most recent visit with my friend, we both order broken rice, and wow, it still hits! I came here on a weekday afternoon for lunch and we had quick service, and a delicious meal! Food came out relatively quick. The suon (pork chop) was moist and juicy compared to other place and seasoning was on point. My boyfriend got the combo 5 with tau hu ky which was ultra crispy and freshly made. You get handed a order form and our final tally was 1 rice, 1 vermicelli, 1 fried egg, 2 steamed egg, 2 nem nuong, 2 grilled chicken, 2 grilled pork, 2 grilled pork chop, 5 pork skins, and 5 broths. And as I sit here typing this review nearly 4 hours later, still feeling very very full. I don't think you need to get the AYCE, because the regular plates seemed to already be a huge portion. My grandma got the noodle dish with pork and veggies. Each dish does come with soup. The soup has lots of MSG though. The service was quick and our food came out fast and hot. Sooooooo glad that I decided to get a plate of Com Tam today. I got the #33 Combo which has Tofu skin wrapped Shrimp, Pork Chop, Shredded Pork Skin and Steamed Egg Loaf. This is what I usually get with Broken Rice plates. I did not expect this to be one of the best places I've ever been to. I was just blown away by their flavors. Even the Nuoc Cham (fish sauce) was amazing. It's definitely on the spicy side and not overly sweet like most other places. They also include some pickled cabbage which is an excellent palate cleanser. Lastly they give a great clear soup garnished with some fresh green onions. Since we had already looked at the menu beforehand, we knew what we wanted and placed our order pretty quickly. For the first round, they provide a list of items you can choose from. My husband and I both ordered vermicelli bowls, and we each decided to try an order of all the proteins available. Our food took a little longer than expected to come out, but it was also a busy dinner hour, so it was understandable. When the food finally arrived, we were surprised by how much was served in the first round--the portions were huge! We started getting full pretty quickly. If we came back, I think we would do it a little differently. The place is in a strip mall with plenty of parking, nothing fancy inside, chairs are kinda hard (metal, no cushion), but the staff is super sweet and attentive with smiles. The bo was a bit more dry. However, it was delicious and had a nice char taste to both. There was a good amount of bi in the dish itself. The cha was decent, nothing too special. The tau hu ky was very delicious. It was STUFFED with shrimp in the middle, compared to other places have a lot of air pockets in the middle. The broth that accompany it was better than I thought because it looked clear so I was skeptic. Overall, I love this place and I would come back again. The meat quality was disappointing. Instead of using real pork chops for the grilled pork, it seemed like they used a cheaper cut. The chả was just okay ,not bad, but nothing special. Overall, the dish was filling, but it lacked the flavor and satisfaction I usually expect from a good cơm tấm plate. From the bright and clean interior to the friendly staff it just adds to the amazing rice dishes they serve here. That's if you're in the mood for rice, if not they have a variety of cold vermicelli dishes to suit your palette. I'm a bit familiar with broken rice dishes because sometimes I'll get them when I'm not craving pho but someone I am going out to eat with is. The food is very good and if you have never had com tam I think the food here would be a pretty good introduction to it. They just recently updated their pricing to $24.99 for regular and $34.99 for upgraded. We really enjoyed the portion sizes and how much food they gave us for the AYCE. The selection is not bad for what you get. As long as you like the options, the AYCE is completely worth it. We definitely enjoyed the broken rice, vermicelli, rolled up beef, and egg rolls.
