We got in when they opened around 7am and the place started to fill-in quickly. We got the Socal Benedict (Turkey) and breakfast burritos. Extremely busy place for grossly overpriced, average breakfast food that is always disappointing due to the exaggerated excitement from drunk Yelpers, hungover from the night before, and not able to fully comprehend the appropriate cost of a scrambled egg or burnt toast. This place was hyped up so figured I'd try the place w a few friends! It's a lovely diner that's always busy w people so it can be a bit of a wait! There's an indoor and outdoor option for dining and towards the back there's a little shop area for some soaps and goodies. Server was nice and efficient, answered our questions and checked in on us while managing his other tables. The portions are big!! Always a 5-star experience here, at Mama Kat's! A dear friend and I had come together for a cup of coffee and upgraded our visit to breakfast. I tried to convince myself to order something other than my usual, but my gut said, "go with what you know", and I was not disappointed! My go-to is their chorizo breakfast burrito with avocado and boiiiiiiii, was it flames!!!!! This isn't a bad thing at all, trust....... The thing I remember... I ordered a Mexican Mocha. I have had several of these over time. This, by far, was the best. Honestly, I couldn't tell you what food I ordered, what it tasted like, what the waiter was like, anything. I swear, everything seemed good to go, I wasn't upset about anything....But that Mexican Mochas was Out-F'ing-Stsnding. It was amazing. I talked about the t for days. Loved the lattes here! Tried a special maple one and a vanilla one, and both were solid. I believe that they are known for their corned beef hash here, so that's what we ordered! Got the Campbell's (corned beef hash benedict) and it was tasty. Expected the corned beef to be whole pieces of meat, rather than what you would find in a can. We also ordered the Southern Comfort, which is basically biscuits and gravy. Gravy was decent, but overall it was lacking something. It wasn't until after we left, where we realized we were supposed to also get a side of eggs that we never received. Wait time was also SUPER long so be prepared for that. read more

I joined my kids for breakfast this morning at one of their favorite places, I have been here a few times and this is by far one of the best breakfast restaurants in north county, first time I have ever sat. At the bar, our server was Eddie, my kids favorite server, he is super nice, makes sure you are always doing well,the staff makes everything look easy, for as busy as they always are, you would think there would be chaos, but not here. I am writing about Mama Kat's for the first time, however, I have been dining at this restaurant many times before.Mama Kat's is one of my favourite breakfast/branch places to go to. They have recently increased the sitting area due to high popularity and demand for their awesome foods. The food this restaurant serves its delicious and homely. The ingredients are fresh and some dishes are signature homemade, ex. Corn beef. I am a big fan of eggs benedict and they good selection of those. You can mix two different egg benedicts which I would recommend. The hollandaise sauce is delicious and nicely combines all components of the dish. Kudos to the entire Mama Cat's crew! They are alway nice and happy to help with food selection if you are having trouble to decide. Please be advised that the wait time is usually a bit long but the food is worth the wait. Solid breakfast/brunch spot! Came here around 10am on a Sunday and we were seated within 20 minutes for 2 people. I liked that we could order from their cafe/dessert section while we waited. The Mexicat mocha was delicious and came with a cute cow sticker lol. I thought the traditiona breakfast with french toast I got was great, especially their hash browns. Perfectly cooked and crispy on the outside. I wish I could get hash browns done right like that at home. My husband said the corned beef hash was "real corned beef hash." This place is truly the Kat's meow when it comes to a "mom and pop" breakfast place! There is plenty of indoor seating options and an outdoor seating area. Their outdoor area is nicely spaced out with a beautiful succulent fountain! I'm a "succer" for plants so there you go. On occasion this restaurant also has a small gift shop open with some pretty cute stuff. It's great to peruse while you wait for your table. Most of the time, expect a wait for this place. It can be shorter or longer depending on the crowd. I've been here a handful of times and I would say the wait on average can be 30/45 minutes to an 1.5/2 hours. Call ahead of time if you are concerned but the food is totally worth the wait! They have vegan and vegetarian options and the staff have been accommodating with requests. Like today 8/14/2025 My wife had her usual chicken fried steak, it's usually very good however today it was very dry and the country gravy had a sweet taste to it like nutmeg was added. Same with me I got the fried chicken and it was tasty but way over breaded. This place is always really busy and the parking lot isn't huge so if you come on the weekends, better come early. The food is really good and the service has always been wonderful as well. My son loves the French toast, I love the breakfast fried rice and my husband is a loyal fan of the breakfast burrito. Ambiance gives me a farmhouse homey feel. It's cute and clean. We've been a couple times but I felt compelled to write a review today because I really felt like the service today made me a believer of this place. We had to wait a little and my son was saying how he was super hungry and a waitress came by and heard him and gave him some fruit to eat while we waited. I have eaten here a couple times during pandemic before they temporarily closed. Their food is tasteful and I can't wait for them to reopen their doors as there's so much more I need to try off their menu! Over a wk ago they were taking orders on their well loved pies, and their coffee to take home. I missed my window on all the pies I'd love to indulge but I was able to order my "purrfect" coffee pouch to enjoy for several days. It's concentrated so you need to add in water or milk. It provides 12 servings of 10oz (pour 5oz into your cup then add 5oz of water or milk) What a great way to be able to support them during this pandemic!! I hate to do this, because I've never done it before. But I do not suggest this restaurant whatsoever! Not because of the food but because of the service. I had eaten here one time before with takeout. I was not the person that picked it up, so I can say the meal was good not life-changing, but good breakfast food. They are supposedly known for their pies. It being my birthday I decided to order one on their website for pick up. And so I went the day of to pick up the pie, which was also the day I ordered online and paid for the pie. I was met with a woman behind the coffee counter, she was utterly rude to say the least. Barking at me asking me how I even made an order saying they did not have my pie. I showed her my receipt stating the day of pick up was that day today. She said " Why would I order that pie"? They don't even have it in. The blueberry pie was an offered choice online. Basically blaming me for putting in an online order on their website for something that they offer. I said three sentences to this woman and she acted as if she was so offended I bothered to patronize the restaurant she was working at she didn't even tell me she was getting a manager, but just walked away to grab one acting the whole time as if I had done something to offend her. I was in complete shock I spoke to the manager who said there was a minimum for 48 hours to order a pie. How would I know that it does not say that on their website and my order Did not say that, and it went through online. They did refund me for my pie. Needless to say it was my birthday and I've never been treated so poorly, and they didn't offer me a substitute or anything They didn't even offer me a piece to take home nothing! They did not even apologize for this woman's behavior. So if you wanted to be treated like dirt go on in, otherwise I would find another mom and Pop shop that gives a crap about your patronage and appreciates you being there. This is the face of their restaurant, and that is not a good look. My 80 yr old mother and 13 yr old daughter went in first and came out to get me, when she was rude to them too. She spoke down to her fellow employees as well. I understand we were not special that day. This is just her normal MO., but not how i would want my business represented. read more

What a find so close to our home! First time here and so far experience is stellar! They greeted us with genuine friendliness and the amazing part is our waitstaff, Lilly. She rocks best service. So friendly and helpful with the menu and then the barista, Cori! She made me a non coffee oat milk latte and wowie, so delicious, but again Cori's customer service is way above excellent. She made my latte "with love". Actually, everyone is super friendly and ready to serve us in any way! We ordered the plant based fried rice and added egg whites, the Florentine spinach and side of French toast. Everything was made so well and delicious, except maybe the French toast (a little on the dry side)--it could use some tweaking. The dining room is very roomy and has alot of warmth to it. Now this place definitely lives up to the hype! Makes sense why there's always a long time to sit and eat here. First off, the aesthetic of this place is adorable and I really wish I could have sat inside to really enjoy it. It had such a homey vibe that you immediately feel comfortable when stepping inside. And the entire staff is incredibly friendly. Including our waiter, Eddie, who was fan-frickin-tastic!! I thank him for telling me to get the home fries versus the hashbrowns. Perfect choice with the feta and kielbasa I had picked. The Supreme French Toast was out of this world. We got strawberries added on and they gave us a handful of them! I've never seen a restaurant add that many strawberries as an add-on before. The best part is that they grow their own fruit so it was incredibly fresh. The only thing I didn't like was this place can get expensive fast especially when you have add-ons. Each one costs a couple dollars, which adds up quickly.
