This is the 2nd time in a month I've eaten here. Both times the food was excellent, the waitress friendly, attentive and sweet. Love it!!

I love the Brick Oven Pizza! The Meatballs are also fantastic. Love seeing the live bands come around too.

Unfortunately, the night fell well short of expectations. The evening started with the usual downtown Saratoga parking battle no fault of the restaurant, but worth noting. The free lot was full, it was below zero outside, and by the time we arrived we were already a bit rattled. We were seated promptly with our reservation, which was appreciated, but the dining room was ice cold. Tables are packed extremely close together; close enough that we were essentially part of the couple next to us on what appeared to be a very uncomfortable first date. If you're looking for an intimate or romantic dinner, this is probably not the place. The wine-by-the-glass selection was very limited only one cabernet option and the overall wine list seemed designed to push diners toward very overpriced bottles. Our server was slow to come over and didn't know the specials, which didn't help set the tone. We started with the spicy calamari, which was decent but nothing special about a 6/10. It was a bit chewy, which is disappointing for a restaurant positioning itself as high-end. For entrées, we ordered the salmon and the strip steak. Both were cooked properly, but overwhelmingly salty. If you love salt, this might be your dream meal. For us, it wasn't enjoyable we didn't finish our dishes and discarded the leftovers entirely. Maybe it was an off night for the kitchen, but given the cost and overall experience, we won't be returning. Saratoga has far too many excellent dining options to justify another try. We'd much rather spend our money at 15 Church or Chianti Il Ristorante, where the food and atmosphere have consistently delivered. Disappointing overall, especially for what was meant to be a special night out.

I'll admit that living near Trenton has made me a little spoiled when it comes to pizza, but even with that in mind, this was not great by any stretch of the national imagination. The main appeal was convenience. Giuseppe's was only a few steps from our hotel, and the idea of eating pizza on the balcony overlooking the lake at sunset sounded too good to pass up. The order was ready quickly, less than thirty minutes, which I appreciated. Unfortunately, despite asking for utensils and plates both on the phone and again in person, they forgot them entirely. A short walk back to the shop solved the problem, and to their credit, the staff handed them over without any fuss. The pizza itself was the kind of food that serves a purpose but not a memory. The crust was too thick and doughy, the sauce had very little character, and the cheese existed mostly to keep everything from falling apart. It was utility-grade food sold at premium tourist-town prices. We knew we were paying that tax going in, but even so, it felt steep for what we got. Still, it did the job. Our family had a meal, the sunset over the lake was beautiful, and we went from phone call to first bite in under forty minutes on a Saturday night. For that, I'll give some credit. But for the pizza itself, there's not much to recommend. Three stars for speed and convenience, not for flavor.

Vegetable Pizza was delicious, we opted for thin crust and it was really good. Delicious. Caesar salad also did not disappoint. Tina was superbly warm and it was a lovely experience to talk to her. We enjoyed a delicious martini and the bread they put on the table. We are used to an olive oil mixture to accompany the bread but this came with a bean mixture, which was odd and we aren't the biggest bean fans so we avoided that. For our entrees, my mom got the Rigatoni with Chicken and Vodka Sauce. She said it was great but the sauce didn't look anything like Vodka sauce. I got the bolognese and my mom said the sauce in mine looked like vodka sauce. In any event the food was good. The place is pretty small, packed with lots of tables so it's bustling, it's loud (not a bad thing), and there's a lot going on. The one negative about it being a small place is that unfortunately we had to listen to a server complain to one of the managers for about 5 minutes about another co-worker and that was definitely not what we wanted as part of our experience. This place seems to care about presentation, as they are obviously a popular place to go in Saratoga Springs so this was definitely a little off-putting. Overall, it wasn't a bad experience by any means. Just a few little kinks to work out.

The location was ideal - right on the water and near so many cute shops in town. We were a little early for our reservation, so we explored the back for a bit (our reservation was inside). We enjoyed the picturesque landscape and beautiful lights illuminating the yard - this would be a lovely spot for a party or even a small wedding. Inside was also lovely with quaint decor; I particularly loved the simple seasonal hydrangeas on the table. There was a little confusion with our reservation at first, but after sorting that out, we were seated at a comfortable table for our party. Not surprisingly, the menu focuses on seafood and fresh ingredients. We started with the graham cracker encrusted calamari, which was a unique take on a classic dish that worked well! Very crunchy and refreshing. For my entree, I went with the crab-stuffed flounder, which was delightful. I enjoyed the risotto accompanying it and the fresh sauce and arugula. A filling but not stuffing meal that was high quality! Our dining partners all enjoyed their meals as well, focusing mostly on their seafood options. We split a bottle of white wine, which paired nicely with all our entrees and starters. We did not get dessert, and I did not pay for this meal, so I cannot speak to the after dinner menu or the prices. The ambience was excellent and the food was delicious and fresh, so I would definitely return on future visits to Lake George, hopefully sitting outside next time!

I had every expectation that it would the perfect setting for a quiet dinner with a lovely view, exceptional cuisine and attentive service. Unfortunately, for a restaurant of this caliber, they did not meet the mark. Let's start with the good stuff. They have a parking lot which is really appreciated in Bolton Landing, NY. We were warmly greeted at the door and wished Happy Anniversary. We were seated on the porch (our choice of tables because there was only one set of two diners in the restaurant at 6 p.m. on a Sunday night). Off to a good start. I commented about the pretty dress the hostess (at least we assumed she was) who seated us was wearing. A sweet Jamaican gal who goes by "Skinny Girl" offered water and chatted with us (we recognized her Caribbean accent and asked her which Jamaican parish she was from). She was more attentive to us during the evening than our waiter, Owen (he was clearly overwhelmed handling tables on the porch as well as on the patio outside). To his credit, Owen was honest about the crab legs and we were grateful. Service was slow, from drinks to getting the bill. What really rattled our chains is that the hostess in the pretty dress visited diners at every table on the porch - sometimes more than once - except us. We felt ignored. Our drinks were very good. The specialty of the house (a cucumber concoction) was actually the signature drink at our wedding. My husband enjoyed it. My Blood Orange Martini was delicious, albeit $18 which I thought was more like NYC prices. Appetizers were good. I ordered the Escargot which was served on puff pastry with a light cream sauce. Delicious. My husband's Grilled Clams did not look to be grilled at all, and swimming in what appeared to be the same cream sauce as my Escargot which, because he is lactose intolerant, was a concern. My husband's Chef's Choice steak was strip steak, cooked rare as requested, and served over truffle mashed potatoes with asparagus spears on the side. While pricey st $65, he was pleased. I ordered the venison, rare ($41). What was served to me were 2-1/2 small medallions of which two were rare and one was seriously well done (could not eat it). Spinach was on the side. I would have loved some of the yummy truffle mashed potatoes that accompanied my husband's steak. Again, with no one paying attention to us, by the time our waiter came to check on our food, my husband was already finished with his meal. So Owen's offer to return my overcooked venison to the kitchen was not an option. I packed my dinner to go. We asked for an order of churros to share and two coffees (the espresso machine apparently wasn't working). The coffee was old and barely lukewarm. We asked for replacements. One would think that the kitchen staff would try to make up for their two errors and at least provide us with fresh replacements. Nope. They probably microwaved the first two cups. I did not drink mine. This restaurant claims to be rated among the top 100 in the country. We certainly expected better service and care worthy of their New York City prices. I've worked in the hospitality industry for over 40 years and would never disrespect customers like that, especially when they chose my restaurant for a special occasion. So yes, I was disappointed. Would we give Chateau on the Lake another chance? We have so many wonderful choices in Saratoga and Albany (which would have been the same distance). Maybe.
