The worst pasta ever. I'm not a pasta fan but I was trying to figure out why there were so many people eating outdoors. I honestly think it's the setting (beautiful, it's Estes Park) or it's maybe the THC hitting people. I don't get it because similar to other reviews - the pasta is subpar. I can do better with a jar of ragu! My chicken parm was not good. Watered down spaghetti and really dry and tasteless chicken - I didn't finish at all. We also ordered chicken and veggies and the reviews came back as overly soggy vegetables that were gross. My sister in law ordered creamy pesto and she is a great eater but she barely touched it. Mama Roses had the potential to be a mainstay for anyone wanting to have an excellent Italian meal while in Estes Park. Unfortunately that potential is missed by the restaurant in just about every conceivable way. What did I like? Well the minestrone soup was a hit. Great flavor and a very heavy hitting punch of vegetables in the bowl. Terrific. Sorry but that is the end of the likes segment. Where did they miss the mark? Well, to start with, the garlic bread is seriously a joke. It's like hotdog rolls that are scooped out to make them flat and then a heavy dose of garlic powder butter substitute is liberally applied to the remaining bread. The entrees were expensive for the size and when you think about the cost in the portion it's nowhere near good value for money. $14 for spaghetti arrabbiata. The sauce was spicy and that is where this dish ends. I was mad while still eating. I ordered salmon on top of it. $5.00 for the piece which was non-marinaded and simply baked and tossed on top. Over cooked and about half of it was gray meat. As I walked out, all I could think about was how I wasted an opportunity to go to Antonio's again. We were jeep, off trail riding all day and we're starving, looking for a 4-5 star restaurant to eat at. I love it because all of my friends tell me I'm in charge of looking at Yelp to see where we can go. I found Mama Roses because one of the young ladies in our group was craving spaghetti...And we all love Italian! It wasn't quite 4 stars but wanted to give it a shot! After looking at all the pictures it looked like it was serving some pretty good food! The restaurant was tucked back into a cute little nook area by a stream. There was outdoor seating which was adorable and we only had to wait for 5 minutes. When we got seated our waitress wasn't very personable. I am a big one for personality, making sure the customer's are taken care of. I felt like when we were asking questions she didn't have time for us. A couple people in my group felt that she was rude at times. I don't think we were ever asked once if any of us wanted our drinks refilled. So that is the only reason why I am giving this review three stars. We sat indoors which was great, lots of old interior to look at. No one in our group had any complaints about our food. We did order 2 Key lime pies and we only received one of them. We had an error on receipt, but again didn't want to bother waitress. Due to the longer wait we just decided pass on the other one and not bother the waitress. Would I come back and eat here if I was on another vacation to Estes Park Colorado? The service was a disaster and a disgrace. We were left unnoticed at our table for so long with not even water served to us. Bread came after a wait but no water still. We had to ask the waiter for our food when tables that ordered after us started getting the food. And we had kids with us. My wife and I enjoy coming to Mama Roses often and love their food and location. In the summer we like to sit outside by the river. Recently we came here after have a very bad interaction at another local restaurant and to be honest when getting here we were not in a good mood. Once walking through the door however the hostess here greeted us with a big smile and really helped turn things around for us. She seated us quickly at a nice big table right next to where the food comes out. I got the eggplant parm and my wife got the mushroom ravioli. Everything was really good and our waiter was very attentive and friendly. Thank you for improving our night and showing us how a restaurant should be done. read more

2nd visit here. Service was excellent both times. Fettuccine Alfredo & Fettuccine Pesto are delicious. Very generous portions always plenty for leftovers - especially if you have any appetizers. The Ricotta Rollups are pretty yummy too!! read more

We were very disappointed in dinner this evening. We had a 5:45pm reservation and arrived 5 minutes late. We were the only people in the waiting area but when asked if we could have an outdoor seat we're told we were second in line for the one open table. So we sat inside next to a windowsill with four dead flys in it. We order drinks for the adults and soft drinks for the kids. Our waiter returned before the drinks arrived and asked for our food order and so we ordered two appetizers and four dinners and a bottle of wine. Our drinks arrived and about 10 minutes later our appetizers arrived. Totally reasonable! Then about 1.5 minutes after our appetizers arrived our full meals arrived. We tried to stop the server saying we just received these appetizers, he simply looked at us and then continued to put food in the table. About 10 minutes later the bottle of wine showed up. We refused it and said we were very unhappy with the speed of dinner. Our waiter just shook his head. I said we wanted the wine and one of the appetizers canceled. He said okay and walked away. He didn't return until we were totally done and gave us the check. We were in and out in less than thirty minutes for what we hoped would be a relaxing meal by the river. We never even got an "I'm sorry." Also while walking out we saw not only the table we'd asked for empty but also two other outside seating options open. It seemed all the food was already made and just reheated to make this meal go so fast. read more

$14 for spaghetti with meat sauce (comes with garlic bread and house salad) seemed a little steep. Mama Rose's is located just off the main downtown street of Estes Park outside of Rocky Mountain NP which makes it an easy place to stop by after a day of hiking adventures. While the staff was helpful and we were seated within 10 minutes on a Sunday evening, it does seem like a bit of a tourist trap. The pricing is probably comparable to other restaurants in the area that cater to visitors to the nearby park so I would not deter other guests from giving it a try if you are craving Italian. read more

All I can say is ehh. Wanted it to be great. Weird they don't give you salad forks. Gave us dirty plates for our app. Wife's chicken and veggie meal was a a pre cooked dried out chicken. I had baked rigatoni and added a meatball. Mine was ok but my meatball was cold. I cut it in half and hid it under the melted cheese to warm it up. I was very disappointed in the menu selection. It's turned into more like a spaghetti works...nothing outstanding on the menu. What happend to the Primavera? Food was Luke warm. Bread would have been nice served ahead of time, bt came when they brought the food and again not very warm. Wait staff was not very attentive. we needed anther round of drinks and the waiter came around again towards the end of our meal. we use to be big fans of this place, but not sure if I will go back. Mama Rose's building was very attractive, & the interior decor was elegant & classy. I ordered the Seafood Baked Pasta, served with a small Italian Salad & Garlic Bread. Rigatoni Pasta was thick, swollen, & bland, stuck together by a lot of stringy Mozzarella. A few Tbsp. of white sauce would have moistened it. Tiny shreds of Crabmeat were mixed in, & I found 3 bites of Lobster. For the high price, I was disappointed. I picked out the Seafood & left 2/3 of the gummy Pasta. Bread had been reheated & was tough & chewy. It surprised & bothered me that @ 8:30pm, after the last 6 tables had their entrees, 3 Servers sat down @ a corner table INSIDE the Dining Room & proceeded to roll silverware. It's been a long time since I've seen that, even in casual cafes & diners. Their eyes darted back & forth watching the Diners, & it was necessary to catch their eye when something was needed. Obscurity is a desired trait in Servers. No one wants to be watched by strangers while they're eating. There was no walking by the tables asking how Dinner was? Or Would you like a refill? I had to hand-signal that I was finished & ready for my check. She finished what she was doing for 3 more minutes, & THEN she came & asked if I would like more water? Sept 2019 - updated review. We have always enjoyed Mama Tose's but tonight....the food was not good. Our server was blah and messed up our order a bit. We know that can happen sometimes. Ok. But the food was very dry. My chicken Parmesan was dry; the lasagna was dry, the spinach artichoke dip was awesome. And the chicken fettuccine on zucchini noodles was good but not enough sauce. This restaurant had great service, great food, and a beautiful location. We had the tomato cream pasta, pesto pasta, and baked penne pasta. All three were very large and high quality. Each meal also came with a wonderful salad and some super cheesy/garlics bread. Our waitress Marissa was great and even made sure to plate each half of our shared dish (and kept the bread coming). We sat outside along the river and listened to some great live music. Would definitely recommend. read more

It's not the most outstanding, but I don't know how you do Italian any different :-) we enjoyed our meal and you can't beat the atmosphere of sitting out on the patio by the water! Saturday afternoon and the day before Easter was a beautiful day to explore Estes! Sadly Mama Rose's was ill prepared to staff the restaurant appropriately that day. When we walked in there was a couple ahead of us waiting and at least 2 times the host and or wait staff saw us standing in the host area. We waited at least 10 mins before the host came to seat us and by that time approx 6 other people were standing behind us. I thought the food was really good and I was happy that they had a zucchini noodle option at no charge instead of regular pasta. I had zucchini noodles with Alfredo and grilled chicken and it was really good! To start I had the caprese and their homemade mozzarella was divine, but it's not the right season for ripe tomatoes. My husband had the lasagna and really liked it. The garlic bread appeared to be a store bought frozen bread which was disappointing. The location is beautiful inside and right next to the river. Service was great as usual. However, the last three times going the food has not been. The pesto was simply awful and neither my wife or I could eat it (way too much pesto, oil and the chicken tasted as though it had been cooked in old oil). This used to be one of our favorite places to eat us Estes but we will no be able to support the business any longer. read more

I wish I could tell you what the food was like but after we waited for 45 minutes we ended up leaving. We had checked in and told them we had a small dog and we would like to sit on the deck. They assured us this was fine and we waited for an outside table on the porch. After waiting for 45 minutes we got called, put in our order and were waiting for our salad when a girl came out and told us that the manager said the dog could not be on the porch, rather had to be on the main walkway outside the porch which our leash would not even reach. We were told this was from the manager however when my husband went in to talk to the manager he wasn't even on duty that night so who knows who decided it but we ended up leaving. Setting was amazing on this beautiful day. We sat on the patio with the stream flowing next to us. Food was good and not terribly overpriced. Came here with my husband and daughter for dinner. Great service, was able to be seated right away. The chicken on the chicken parm was lackluster but my husband and daughter ordered the lasagna and YUM! I kept stealing bites from my daughter. Well made and hearty. Wanted to try the cannolis but was too full! Overall a good place to try if your wanting Italian on your Estes Park visit. read more

My fettuccine with tomato cream sauce had 0 flavor, coke, and was completely inedible. The mozzarella sticks were from the freezer and were 100% freezer-burnt. They also sat us next to the kitchen door when the restaurant was completely empty. I regret spending any money here and felt bad for the people waiting in the lobby for whatever "food" that was. Feel bad that this was a local restaurant, but they need to seriously change some things. read more

this place looked really good on the website, but when we arrived, the restaurant looked old and run down. we still gave it a shot. it took about 10 minutes for our server to come over to us. the garlic bread was not great, it was hard and not hot. it tasted like the frozen garlic bread from the store. the lasagna tasted fake and like a frozen meal; we gave it back immediately. we decided to just eat our salad and that was okay. i really would not recommend coming here we should've went to mcdonald's across the street instead. read more
