This place is officially one of our top 10s of all time! From Joe the manager, host with the most and to Kelsie our sweet server! Everything was great! We got a bottle of red chilled prior to being seated. Joe was super helpful and gave us a bunch of tips on where to go and stay while in Estes Park! We had a couple small plates, lobster ceased salad and a couple glasses of Rose! Also a mozzarella tomato basil sandwich with truffle potato chips.. service was great! We scored a great spot on the patio so we could dog watch and feel the cool Colorado breeze and listen to the bubbling creek out back... we will definitely be back to this spot. We tried Mama Rose's for the first time while visiting Estes in August. I loved my chicken Alfredo and my husband liked the lasagna. This time I ordered chicken and vegetables, no pasta (darn carbs!). The serving was large. I could not eat it all. My husband had the lasagna again and said it was some of the best lasagna he has had. The decor is charming. I love all of the woodwork. The staff was very friendly and attentive. read more

We were looking for a home cooked Italian meal. Mama Rose's was a family favorite. Spaghetti bolognese had superb deep flavor, the bowl was sopped up with toasted garlic bread. Chicken parmigiana and Shrimp scampi were delicious to the last fork-ful, just like mom's back home. MAMA ROSE'S: An incredibly average experience. I was told that the wait for this place can often reach over two hours. After our experience there, I couldn't tell you why. Let me preface the remainder of this review with a recollection of my first attempt to dine here. I was on one of many weekend trips to (T)Estes Park and as the sun set, had thoughts of dinner. I spied this Italian restaurant next to a pizzeria (both have the same owner apparently) and went to see if there was a free table. Walking up to the host outside the front door, I and my wife were brusquely turned away by this 20-ish, "didn't-know-when-to-quit-the-gel" head having, dude-bro, club douche. I had barely gotten the query out of my mouth before being rudely told that they were full, complete with glare. We quickly went elsewhere. I decide to give this place a second go, in spite of my earlier experience, and my better judgment. We got there 40 minutes early, got in the door as one of first groups in, and got to a table with no problem. So far so good right? For $60 (not including tip) we got an incredibly depressing caesar to share, two glasses of cool prosecco in warm flutes, a salty mushroom ravioli entree for her, a greasy lasagne for me, and bread so sad I saw it cry . The markup here is silly, unwarranted and mist of the people who worked there looked like they didn't want to be there. Added to this, is the very rushed nature of... well, everything. So, basically the best part of my meal was the water. It took 45 minutes for our meals to come out. The garden salad consisted of lettuce, one tomato and black canned olives. Seriously???!! Black olives at an Italian joint? I'm Italian & this place was so confused on what Italian is. I ordered the chicken and veggies. The chicken breast was half of a real chicken breast (dried and tiny). The veggies were something you would see at an Asian restaurant...soaked... I mean soaked in soy sauce. It was horrible. I love veggies and thought for sure they would be grilled nicely with a little bit of olive oil. I couldn't even eat these... so nasty. Ohhhh and my meal cost frickin $16. Ridiculous. The decor is hideous and the chairs have no cushions; just fabric stapled to the wood. So uncomfortable. This place is horrible!!! The waitress was nice, but super spacey. read more

While I know that Estes Park is not known for its gastronomy, how hard is it to mess up Italian-American classics like lasagna or chicken parmesan? I will say we chose this place for the outside seating, and we thought the reviews were decent. Lasagna: chewy. Tasteless. Needed spices. Chicken Parmesan:holy crap. BAD. Chicken had NO flavor. I actually spat it out. It's like someone just breaded the chicken without salt, pepper, NOTHING. The pasta had no flavor either, it was overcooked. Even the guy behind us complained about the chicken TWICE to his server. Honestly, how hard is it to mess this up? A Tyson breaded chicken with 99 cent pasta and Hunt's sauce would have tasted so much better. Tip: cook pasta in water with garlic and salt, al dente. Add some garlic, pepper, salt, oregano to plain cheap Hunt's sauce. Add spices to chicken. Please keep in mind I had some weed and drinks before this, so not even intoxicated was this good at all. Mama Rose's has been an Estes Park staple for years, but recently the quality has declined. Our food was average, (chicken Parmesan and meat spaghetti); the service was very good, but our biggest complaint was the cleanliness of the restaurant. The bathrooms were dirty and restaurant floor and entry way were filthy. No one was keeping up cleaning around the tables. Such atmosphere really tainted our being able to enjoy our meals. We were anxious to get out of such a dirty place. Sadly, after many years of enjoying Mama Rose's food, we will not return. read more

Seeing they had gluten-free pasta available on their menu, I pursued the spaghetti with meatballs, traditional style. What came out was no meatballs a very sticky overcooked mushy mostaccioli pasta. The spaghetti sauce was very good and had considerable meat in it, but I could not penetrate the sticky overcooked gluten-free pasta, I left half the pasta in the bowl and just ate the sauce on the top with a minimal amount of pasta. The service was terrible even though they had plenty of people working and very few customers, our server never smiled and it took us finally having to ask for our check, we could have just got up and walked away as other people had gotten theirs and paid I was amazed. The food was mediocre and over priced. My friend got the chicken and vegetables, the chicken breast was super small and over a huge bowl of vegetables, over half the veggies were green bell pepper. The food was pretty good, They have taken steps due to Covid-19 so the service may be a little slow. We had a wide range of choices since one in our was vegan. The Waiter (Jose) was very good and made some suggestions that we tried. I had the Angry Chicken with an extra Italian Sausage very good. I like how they didn't attempt to cover up the meal with heavy on the sauce. My wife had the Fettuccine Alfredo and she was happy with it. We come to Estes Park once a year and last year ate at Poppy's which was enjoyable. We decided to try this place instead and were very disappointed. Service was slow and took a significant amount of time to even be greeted by our waiter. My wife's dinner came not only wrong but the chicken was raw. When we sent it back the waiter returned only minutes later with clearly the same food just a new sauce dumped on top. My food was bland and the veggies in the sauce were undercooked and overpowering. Pastas are clearly from a box and everything tastes frozen, not fresh or homemade. We scrambled to find a place for lunch when we discovered Nepal's Cafe was closed. It's a bad sign for Mama Roses's that we ended up being the only ones here the whole time for lunch. To be fair, it was April and not high season, but still. The garlic bread arrived with way too much parmesan on top. I gritted my teeth and made it through. Next came my salad. I had almost asked for the dressing on the side, but I was told it was tossed so I thought they'd use a lighter hand. Nope. All I tasted was strong Italian dressing. I got the dinner entree at lunch of portobello mushroom ravioli with tomato cream sauce. It came with the aforementioned salad, so I didn't have to order a mini house salad, so really the price was on par with lunch entrees. The ravioli was absolutely drowned in sauce. I had to push off the sauce in order to eat. It was enough sauce for about five entrees. Despite that, it was by far the best food of our visit and was pretty tasty. I noted an ongoing theme in getting food at Mama Rose's: everything is drowned and lacks subtlety. (Other theme: The food is pretty mediocre Italian fare.) The husband was not too impressed by his arrabiata sauce atop spaghetti with grilled chicken. The son got the rigatoni with alfredo. The daughter had the spaghetti with butter and they added cheese per her request. They were happy but they're 8. We sat at the window with a view of the river. The server was nice but we waited around for 10 minutes for her to come by so we could ask for the check. It's not like she was busy with other patrons or anything. read more

Loaded with vegetables but not in a tomato base, which was a nice change. I had chicken saltimbocca - excellent. Served with prosciutto, white wine sauce served over freshly grilled mixed vegetables.
