Walked in for lunch at opening. We sat out back patio which is great overlooking the river. All the staff is extremely friendly and helpful. We are visiting from NC and our meals were fantastic. We went late on our first evening in Estes Park, and it was one of the few places still open after 8. We shared the combo fajitas for two, and there was easily enough meat to feed four adults. We also tried the bison tacos and started with the queso blanco and homemade salsa--both bursting with flavor and absolutely delicious. Service wasn't the best, but the food more than made up for it. For dessert, we ordered sopapillas and fried ice cream. The sopapillas were very good and traditional, but the fried ice cream wasn't our favorite since it came with strawberry ice cream (we didn't realize it would be flavored, and none of us are fans of strawberry). Food was decent, not amazing. Margaritas were good. Honestly, the biggest disappointment here was the service. Yet again showcasing that women in their 40s are invisible. Considering we're the best tippers, this is so dumb on their part. We were seated promptly. We came in while here on vacation based on great reviews. There were five of us and we were quickly seated. All of us tried a margarita of some sort. I had a frozen strawberry one and it was tasty. The chips and salsa (extra charge) were good and a great way to start since we were hungry. I ordered a chicken fajita bowl. And left off the green peppers. It had great flavor and was really fresh. Ed's was SLAMMED when we arrived in a very hungry state after running 9 miles in Estes Park and walking several others on top of it. I come from Texas, so perhaps expectations for Mexican food are higher than most, but this meal was very disappointing. We had been looking online and seen menu photos with a chicken taco option for under 10 dollars for three tacos. When we arrived at Ed's, there was no chicken taco option in sight. Barbacoa, bison, and battered fish, but no chicken. I asked the waiter and he let me know the chicken taco option was apparently sent back so many times they took it off the menu! (This should have been a sign.) He informed me that I could order another taco option and just get chicken with it, so I did that. We were told at the front that chips and salsa were included, so when the server didn't bring any, we asked for them. We were double disappointed, first with the food (they messed up my order, and both my partner and I found the food meh at very best; fast food tacos are better even in Texas), then with the bill. They charged us for the chips and salsa (note they are NOT INCLUDED), and then instead of charging $15.50 for the chicken tacos like the other ones, the tacos came out to be over $20!! They charged for every single topping instead of just ringing it up like the other menu options but with chicken. We went back to ask about the bill and to their credit, the manager on staff was SO kind and apologetic about the bill issue and made everything right. So I give them one star for customer service! I think the views if you sit outside may be nice, but just don't come here looking for outstanding Mexican. We found our food very forgettable (the chips were hard, the salsa super spicy) and were frustrated by the miscommunications between staff members and surprise upcharge. When we have visitors from out of state, we always seem to drive up to Estes and Ed's Cantina is one of our go to stops. So this was probably my 4th time here and my review is mixed. Food: The Sweet Corn soup is amazing!!! The rest of our food, presentation is awesome, but everything else lacks flavor. This time I got the Chicken fajitas, the chicken had no seasoning. My mom visiting from out of town had the Chicken Enchiladas, which was topped with a salsa verde, presentation is beautiful, but lacked flavor. The salsa also was very plain. Luckily, there were two bottles of hot sauce on the table, we went through most and it helped! Atmosphere: We sat in the bar area, it was a Sunday late afternoon, and not too busy. The have music playing in the background but not too loud, so nice to have a conversation. Service: our waitress Marianna was great. Got our order quickly, brought out our chips and salsa quickly and our food arrived quickly and looked amazing! Tip: The food looks amazing, and is good, it just needs some flavor. My husband and I went to this restaurant 3 years ago and we were excited to return. It was one of our favorite places last time we were in Estes. I'm sad to say we were very disappointed. Chips and salsa you have to pay separate for, which is fine. Very good chips and salsa, unlimited. We ordered two bowls, one with fajita chicken and the other with barbacoa. The food came very fast, almost suspiciously fast. The chicken bowl came messy. I was pretty appalled by the quality of the chicken. It was extremely chewy, I almost had to spit it out. Even my husband who will eat anything said it was overly chewy. It also had no flavor at all. I never add salt to things, but this meal desperately needed it. Also, the onions and bell peppers it came with were cut in all different sizes--some were julienned and others were very chunky. This is not something I usually notice, my personal opinion is if you can notice it, that's not a good thing. My husband said his barbacoa bowl was a 3/5. I couldn't even finish the chicken bowl because it was so chewy, and I never leave food. Sadly the best part of the meal was the chips and salsa, which is just sad. Overall, very sad at the downhill turn of this restaurant. The one redeeming quality was our waitress was so kind and friendly, she was amazing. Sadly cannot recommend this restaurant to anyone though and we will not be returning. read more

First time trying Bison Enchiladas. I asked for all rice and no beans and all the sauces and garnishes on the side (I like flavors but not a lot of heat). I took my first bite and I realized I should have asked the waiter about the heat level of the bison meat. He came back to our table to see how we were doing and I asked for a side of sour cream to lessen the heat and it helped greatly. Now I was able to taste and enjoy the enchiladas. They seasoned it well. Bison is lean and it needs assistance from the chef to make it tasty. Excellent service from our waiter. I like it a lot when restaurants use handheld devices to place orders and to check out guests. Your credit card never leaves your hand. Small parking lot next to the restaurant. We're in Estes Park this week and decided to hit up Ed's on our first night in town. Let me tell you: GREAT decision. We've already been back another night for dinner. They've got an awesome Happy Hour menu featuring some tasty cocktails and some really tasty happy hour food at good prices. Friendly, fast service just combines to make it even better. Our favorite foods are the bison tacos, the fish tacos and the pretzel bites with queso. We've also had the Mexican street corn soup, the nachos & the fajita bowls. All of it is delicious and made fresh! On a cold winter Estes Park day, the spice of the bison tacos and the warmth of the Mexican street corn soup can't be beat.
