    Cocina Plate

We went in for an early dinner, and it wasn't crowded, which made for a relaxed meal with phenomenal service! We tried the Cocina Plate and the Create-Your-Own Combo. The homemade chips were fresh and delicious, and the salsa had a tasty little kick. The tortilla soup was flavorful--though it had quite a bit of onion, the seasoning still shined through. We also custom-ordered a chicken enchilada topped with queso, and it was absolutely delicious. The restaurant has a super cute setup, a welcoming atmosphere, and a huge menu full of variety. Overall, a great dining experience we'd definitely recommend! I door and outdoor patio seating available! Huge drink list with lots of custom margaritas available

Pretty good! We liked that they are not located downtown so it's a lot easier to get to and park. The place is small but we went in around 3:30 so it was a good time on a Saturday. My husband had the sizzling fajita platter- (chicken and bacon) He said it was one of the best fajitas he has ever had. I had the chicken fajitas. They give you lots of meat. Service was slow even at 3:30-4:00. It's pretty good food and we were hungry after hiking RMNP. Not the best Mexican food I've ever had but pretty good for this area.

Wanted some legit Mexican food, and not tourist trap stuff. Came here and we were pleasantly surprised! Food was outstanding, lots of flavor and seasoning! And dishes we normally see at home! Shrimp enchiladas: shrimp inside the tortillas AND on top. Shrimp Michelada - enough said! Pastor street tacos, SO MUCH MEAT! Really flavorful, could taste the chorizo! Only reason to remove a star was their cucumber margarita, while very tasty, was kinda weak. Didn't taste much tequila. Service was really good too. Y'all visit this place! It's great! Oh, and you can park at the restaurant!!

    That's your carne asada.

This is not authentic Mexican food at all. I ordered a carne asada burrito that had the smallest portion of carne asada I have ever seen. The meat was so salty and overcooked. Full of fillers like beans, rice and too much cheese. The food is not good. I don't know how they have 4 stars. It's sad the food is overpriced and not good. I don't recommend this place go get some pizza or a burger. Don't think I'm being salty either. It's the food that's salty.

Love the outdoor seating, there's plenty indoor if that's your preference. Fish taco is a must, it'is very flavorful. Chips and salsa as well! Guacamole was ok. Waiter was very nice and helpful. Service was a bit slow, but it was worth the wait.

Well, it's been a year and Im back in Colorado with some church summer campers. This time I'm in Estes Park, Colorado and as I always do I wanted to try a local Mom & Pop rather than a chain restaurant. So after checking Yelp and reviews, I decided to try La Cocina de Mama. It had 4 stars and a total of 312 reviews. I looked over the menu and decided to try the Chicken Mole Enchilada plate. Plate also comes with a serving Spanish rice and refried beans. All I can say is WOW !!! Shredded chicken white meat top with a sweet not spicy mole sauce. Rice cooked to perfection and serving of beans topped with melted cheddar cheese. Service was outstanding and food was delicious. Giving La Cocina de Mama FIVE stars. I travel all over this country and I highly recommend this establishment.

    Chicken fajitas!

This is always our first stop when we get into Estes, every time. Always great food even with getting different items! Only thing is that it can get cramped and the parking lot is small.

It was that good the first time that we decided to come back and do it all over again the next day. Parking is somewhat limited, but we arrived early on weekday mornings and had no trouble finding a spot. The restaurant is charming from the outside, with a colorful "Greetings from Estes Park" old postcard mural that makes for a great photo opportunity. Inside, the atmosphere is modern yet cozy, and both days we were lucky enough to snag a window booth. Our first experience set the tone right away. We walked in just as a server was arriving for her shift. Noticing nobody was at the host stand, she seated us before even putting away her personal belongings. That's customer service. For breakfast, I ordered a special that I can't seem to find on the menu now--an Eggs Benedict with pulled pork. I debated swapping the greens for potatoes but decided to be healthy. To my surprise, the dish was served on crispy potato pancakes instead of an English muffin, which meant I got the best of both worlds. The combination was fantastic, and honestly, I think Eggs Benedict works even better on potato pancakes than on bread. Every bite was packed with flavor. The next morning, I made myself try something different, even though I was tempted to order the same thing again. I chose the Cambridge Skillet: smoked ham and bacon with jack and cheddar cheeses over seasoned ranch potatoes, topped with two over-easy eggs and creamy hollandaise. It was delicious and hearty, although my first day's breakfast still edged it out as my favorite. I also sampled my friend's whole wheat blueberry pancake. It was enormous and surprisingly flavorful. I especially appreciated that many of their sweeter breakfast options come with eggs and a choice of bacon or sausage. It's a nice balance and makes for a more satisfying meal. The food, service, and atmosphere were consistently excellent on both visits. The Egg of Estes quickly became one of our favorite breakfast spots in Estes Park, and it's definitely somewhere we'll return on future trips.

My daughter enjoyed her Vive La France French Toast as well. Our waitress was very friendly and had good timing - there were no long waits for her to reappear, as sometimes happens elsewhere. There was a little snafu - if I hadn't been paying attention, I'd have paid someone else's bill, almost 4X ours - but clearly it was an honest mistake and it's no harm, no foul. All symptoms point to food poisoning. We will not be back. This was our first visit to You Need Pie. What we liked: Our waiter was really hospitable, friendly, and did his best to provide service in a timely way despite being the only server available for all the customers. The coffee was decent, though in a small mug, and so was the hot chocolate we orders for the kids (which came with whipped cream, much to their delight!). The decor on the walls felt kind of scanty but what is there was cute. There is a pretty wide pie selection. Food serving sizes were okay. The single person bathroom was clean. What we didn't like: *The $2 veg add-ins of onion and jalapeños to the $12 omelette were raw. *The corned beef hash was extremely basic and barely seasoned, the potatoes were well cooked but bland and pale. It was edible but not worth $15. *Our party ordered a $9 bread bowl soup and waffle fries as well; it was eaten but the cheese ingredient was really overpowering in flavor - the small size was a good thing, in this case, because otherwise it couldn't have been finished. *The batter on the chicken tenders in the kid's meal were almost burnt on the edges, but still pale everywhere else. Something off with the oil temperature I guess. They didn't get eaten. *The color of everything was pretty much all beige and served on white plates, which impacted the impression of the meal - zero visual appeal. One of my favorite parts of eating at mom-and-pop diners is the way the meals feel homey, warming you from the inside out. This did not create that kind of impression. Lastly, the pie (which was the main draw for us and why we picked this dining option). We ordered one slice of rhubarb at $6.25. The pie was very disappointing - something in it was either stale or had gone bad. It tasted really unpleasant and we ended up throwing it away. Our total for everything was about $80 with tip and it was sadly not money well spent. We love stand alone dining options but probably will not be returning.
