I have no idea how this place doesn't have perfect reviews on Yelp, this place is amazing! I stopped by on a trip from Minneapolis to Duluth with some friends based on a recommendation and we were blown away. I decided to go with a pastrami reuben and fries. The pastrami was fantastic - super flavorful, tender, and delicious. The sandwich was amazing. The ambiance is your classic local bar/restaurant, but with food that's a million times better than average. The staff were super friendly, and Mama T herself even stopped by our table to check on us. I highly recommend making the visit here!

AMAZING LOCAL FOOD Me and my friends are on a trip up north and stopped here after being recommended and loved it!!! Such a tasty and locally sourced menu with rotating weekly menu that is stellar! I had this weeks specialty raspberry maple burger with fries and homemade ranch, seriously delicious with jammy caramelized onions, creamy spicy cream cheese and a sweet and spiced maple raspberry barbecue drizzled generously. I had a mango cart beer on tap as well (one of my favs) and it was a lovely pint! My friends had the chipotle raspberry chicken club and it was on a nice sweet potato bun, delicious! Another friend got the Luigi's chicken inferno which was juicy smokey chicken with tasty sautéed peppers and onions, honey pepper sauce and a homemade bun. Will be going again and am so happy to have discovered this gem on the way up north!! Staff was extremely welcoming and friendly!

Fantastic smoked wings. French fries are some of the best ever. Homemade, double fried(?), awesome. They had some app special when we were there. Had some great wasabi seafood balls. Also had their brisket chili, which was delicious, and tried their cheesy grits. Loved'em.

    Peanuts Inferno

This place is delicious!!! Wow! Service was exemplary (Bella, I think her name was). We had the nachos, wonton special, Peanut's Inferno and a burger that was similar to the Peanuts inferno. We couldn't eat it all, and I don't think I've ever had such good leftovers!

If you want something smoked or want some Louisiana flavors, try this place. Today we had shrimp Poboy and a bowl of Gumbo with a side of cornbread. The food was tasty. The grits are amazing. The waitress was outstanding. The chef was gracious and engaging. They could use more seating as this is a bar/restaurant and can be sort of crowded at times.

Buffalo chicken salad is amazing. And the staff is top-notch. I love coming here.

Had a great time at Mama T's for the Super Bowl! They had great food and drinks in a really fun atmosphere, with raffles and specials all night long, including free shots for every touchdown! (Yikes high scoring game) Will def be back for more fun in the future, esp looking forward to St Patty's Day party! Well done gang, we'll be back!

This is a must go to destination if you like Southern comfort/BBQ food. Absolutely the best Sammie's we've had in a long time! The Mac & cheese is incredibly rich and tasty! Great service and a great place to enjoy wonderful food!

Best Philly you'll find with hopping on a plane! This food is banging and will have you coming back for more. Great work Mamma T!

Continuing our two month motorhome trip, we find ourselves in Superior, WI for five days. When I…read morefirst saw mention of Anchor Bar, I wondered if it was a location of the Anchor Bar and Grill in Buffalo, NY (IYKYK). It is not associated in any way. I persuaded my wife to go for an early dinner. I told her my perception was a "dive bar". She wasn't too pleased and I told her maybe an "eclectic bar" would be a better description. Yes...an eclectic bar. Cash only with an ATM at the ready with only a $2.50 service fee (my bank refunds all ATM service fees). We got the last two seats at the bar. There were two people working the bar and they were extremely welcoming, friendly, and attentive. We are from Texas and as soon as I open my mouth, you can see the "look" on their face. We both were very glad we went. My wife ordered the California burger and I ordered the mushroom and swiss cheese with the addition of sauteed onions and bacon. My burger was absolutely delicious. My wife really enjoyed hers, but mentioned she wished she had ordered it medium. The fries were obviously hand-cut and I assume on the premises...hot and delicious. Don't worry about plenty of ketchup. The bar had several, very large bottles of Heinz ketchup within easy reach. Plenty of rolls of paper towels. We ordered two Leinenkugel's Summer Shandy drafts; nice and cold. They use a very unique pint glass with a hole and magnet in the bottom. The glass is placed on the machine and it is enters through the bottom. Never have seen this before. Ambiance? Very eclectic with a nautical theme. I loved this place! Again, both servers at the bar were very attentive. Never walked by without asking is everything OK, or if there was anything we needed. This is a must when in Superior or Duluth. Would return again and I highly recommend.

Everything looked super cute but there were coloring and crayon scribbles on everything. It was on the books, the tables the displays etc. I asked a local friend and they said this is normal. When the waitress went to take our drink orders she was ok slightly rude. We looked at our friend and he said they aren't known for their service and can be a little rude. I asked if it's like Dicks Last Resort and he laughed and said no. I think she was okay after that and was like a standard waitress at more restaurants after . I would just say dont expect bending over backwards to make the customer number 1 service . I'm okay with that. They have some very interesting and yummy selections for burgers . I got excited for a blue cheese Burger. I will say that my Pattie was very well done and the bun was on point. The blue cheese dressing top.... Not what I want for a blue cheese burger . I was expecting the blue cheese crumble. The fries... bomb! Definitely get fries. Do I want to go back? Maybe if can sit outside on a nice day. Sort of got the ick sitting inside but it's because I'm not a dive bar kind of girl.

I said no at first because it looked like a depressed bar but what set it to a yes instead was the glorious smell that wafted from the restaurant during the afternoon before we went while they were freshly smoking their meats. So when the decision came to find a place, we said why not? We came on a Friday, which was even better, because we were able to take advantage of their Friday fish fry. I looked on Yelp to see what we should order while here and the fish fry got a lot of mentions so we decided to try that and some of their BBQ. The fish fry was worth the mention. It was AYCE but I would be surprised if you could want more after the first plate with their generous portions sizes. The fries were in-house hand cut and covered with Parmesan cheese. The fish was crispy on the outside and flaky on the inside. It was a great Up North-style fish fry. The BBQ was very good as well. I tried the pulled pork sandwich and it came on a giant bun. Once again, the portion sizes were very generous. The sandwich came with a side of homemade BBQ sauce but honestly the meat had such a good flavor I didn't even need to add any to the sandwich. I have to give them a thumbs up for making many of their items like sauces and sides in-house even though it seemed like they could get away with less quality for being a small town bar & grill. This place really hit the spot, we were looking for no frills comfort food, and that is exactly what we found at The Shack. Price point vs. portion sizes were great and the service was small town friendly and prompt. Looks can be deceiving but The Shack isn't the dumpy bar I thought it was at first and I am glad we gave this place a shot.

Even though we are visiting Duluth during this crazy time of the wild fires, Duluth Grill made our trip worth it! They have a streamlined process for getting seated, the staff are welcoming and knowledgeable about the menu and local area. My family ordered the usual staples: biscuits and gravy, pancakes and sausage, and bacon/eggs/sausage. All were hearty portions and perfectly prepped. I tried the "Triple B" which turns out to be a Midwest version of Bibimbop. Made with manoomin (wild rice), beef/pork mix, kimchi, marinated kale- probably my fave of the dish. The combo is a deliciously perfect power meal to start any day and weekend right! I was pleasantly surprised and impressed by the care they take in procuring local ingredients- even their kale and some herbs are from their own lil garden. I highly recommend the Duluth Grill, there's something for everyone! We will definitely stop by on our next trip out to Duluth.

Located…read moreconveniently in the center of Canal Park, we stopped by on a sunny Wednesday early afternoon, hoping to score some of the best sandwiches in town. Even though this was well past lunch time at 2PM, the outside patio was packed and there was a line of 10 people or so to contend with to order at the register. Due to how busy it was, our food took about 20 minutes to arrive. The Squealy Dan, Porketta ($16) - Unlike most other restaurants with Iron Range Porketta, Northern Waters slices their porketta thinly instead of pulling the pork apart. It has a pleasant spiced flavor and the texture feels as if it's cured rather than roasted. It's relatively tender, and while they give a decent amount of meat, it's completely overshadowed by the heavy spicy quality of the black pepper and the acidity and vegetalness of the crunchy pepperoncini. There's a bit of melted gooey provolone on top of the porketta. While nice, there's not enough to balance out the peppers. This is all on a crusty almost baguette-like hero roll, toasty and warm. The sandwich is served with a side dip that's essentially black pepper and pepperoncini water. Definitely not needed given how overwhelming those elements are in the sandwich. (3/5) Pastrami Mommy ($19) - I haven't had bison pastrami before. Now I know why it's not very common - it's way too lean and dry compared to beef pastrami. Still, it's nicely spiced and peppery, and there's not much of the bison gamey flavor since it's cooked out from the curing. There's a little bit of mayo underneath and some mustard on top, but it's not enough moisture or fat in my opinion to counteract the leanness of the bison. While there are some slices of provolone above the meat, they are served cold. I feel like melting it with the pastrami on the griddle would do wonders to help develop some more unctuousness. It's also served on cold rye - perhaps toasting with some butter would also help. Otherwise, the sandwich is just too dry and lean for my tastes. (3/5) I feel like I ordered the wrong items. I probably should have gone with some of the seafood sandwiches, but I found it strange they only serve Atlantic salmon rather than local lake fish. In the end, I appreciate that Northern Waters Smokehaus makes most of their meats in house, but after trying their food, I feel like it's more hype than substance. Bathrooms - Larger ones located upstairs, shared with the rest of the businesses in the mini mall. Note: Northern Waters Smokehaus charges a 3% credit card fee.
