Staff are very nice. They take ATM and credit card which is a big plus for me. I had the butter croissant and my friend and I shared the bacon maple Cronut and the red velvet Cronut. We both agree both were a bit hard and crunchy. We're used to it being a bit more buttery and moist. The butter croissant wasn't too bad. Not as flaky as I desire but it was good. read more

I was thinking about Mama's donuts today and I needed to post a review! I have been coming here for your years!! Even before I could drive.. Thanks mom!! ;) What can I say the donuts, croissants, their breakfast always fresh and sooo delish! You know that you are having fresh yumminess because they are soft even when they go in your mouth OH and the smell mmmm ::sigh:: soo good!!! Mmmm dooooonuttttt ::Homer Simpson voice:::: ;)!!! I have been here extremely early in the morning and their are already folks getting their coffee, donut and breakfast.. Cronut heaven! This place gets THE highest marks because I've passed by it for 5 years thinking that it's just a crappy little dump but I was really wrong about that. Really wrong. I was craving Cronuts the other day so I searched the area and there are only a couple places near Encino/Van Nuys that are servin up these high cal treats. So I ventured out and went in to see what they had to offer. The place is very clean, I had to park on the street but it was all good. So they had a nice selection of regular donuts and I see that they make some pretty incredible sandwiches there too for breakfast/lunch. Everything looked fresh and well prepared. So I set my gaze on the cronuts which were placed front and center, as to not be distracted by the other sweet treats. I, of course, ordered one of each! I have to taste everything. The lady asked if this was my first time there and I said yeah and that I had found them on yelp, as I checked in :) Came home, opened the box, and she had gave me a free cinnamon and sugar donut! How cool/nice is that? The cronuts were amazing, the service was great and I will definitely come back. It's the little things that make you want to frequent a place. I can see why they sell out of their donuts here. I did a tasting comparing Dunkin' Donuts to this place and Mama's Donuts overall is a superior donut. They have different types of cronuts here. At 6 am, someone bought all their cronuts. They only had the glazed left. I've cronut tastings all over LA. This version is among the best of them. I tried around three of their donuts taking a nibble of each comparing to the variety of donuts I bought at Dunkin' Donuts. This, right now, is my favorite donut shop in the Valley and up there with DK Donuts in Santa Monica. For traditional donuts, I like Earl's up in Chatsworth for donuts which open 24/7 for your all day donut craving. read more

WOW!!!! What a great lil donut spot.....I started going there in the early mornings a couple of weeks ago...and I have discovered that the donuts are the best & freshest MELT in your mouth donuts ever 8)) One thing though....They will not accept visa or debit pymts unless you spend at least 5 bucks...but other than that A-OK. Went here specifically for their infamous cronuts. Three of us tried them and sadly none of us found them to be that good. The cronuts were neither soft like a donut, nor flaky like a croissant. In fact we all agreed that they were pretty dry and bland. So disappointing. On the bright side, the other donuts from here were wonderful. Especially the cream puffs. Those were surprisingly delicious. Not to mention the customer service was spot on. I'll come back for their cream puffs and regular donuts. But I'll be sure to stay away from their cronuts from now on. read more

EASILY the best donuts in the valley if not all of SO CAL. To top it off they have a plethora of other baked goods croissants, muffins, even that new hip thing CRONUTS! They even make the most best tasting simple yet complex sandwiches ever! This is sandwich art at its finest! These sandwiches takes dumps on Subway. COME HERE! You won't regret it. read more

The Cronuts here are so amazing!!! I have been here a couple time already and I can not get enough of the Cronuts. They have tons of great options for donuts as well. They carry the classics but, they also have other unique flavors too. I have also tried the mango smoothie which is pretty good as well. The only downside to this place is that they share parking with a somewhat busy 7-11 and Mexican restaurant so it's a bit though to get a spot when you first get there but, something opens up eventually. read more

This place is definitely a hole in the wall kinda place. It's located in a plaza in Van Nuys...or is it Lake Balboa? LOL Anyways, it's not a 24 hour operational kind of place but they do open really early in the morning and close at 6pm. I got there around 5pm. I know they carry cronuts but I called ahead to make sure they had any before I stopped by. LOL At $3.95 a pop...not bad! I picked up 4 - Rocky Road Nutella, Taro, Tirimisu, and Sticky Buns. They also had Maple bacon but too but I would definitely like to try this for another day. LOL So, I don't think they make their cronuts round the clock during open hours because they didn't have a fresh feel but I still ate 1/4 out of each donut. LOL It still tasted good to me. (Note: I said good, not great. LOL) My fave flavor out of the 4 was Nutella Rocky Road. You can't go wrong with Nutella - yummy! Of course getting here at the end of the day...I guess they quality is what to be expected. LOL Anyways, you can definitely tell that this is a mom N pop kinda operation. The lady running the place was so sweet when she asked if I was the one that called about the cronuts. She threw in 4 cream puffs. Those were yummy, by the way. I say come in early to get a fresh batch of cronuts. And to the sweet lady running the place...I'm coming back to try the other donuts next time too. :) read more

They made my Valentine's Day surprise for my kids awesome! Promised the kids that if we go out in time we could get a treat, we pulled in and it was raining and there still was a huge line! But, this is tradition, all the holidays we come here so they can see what fun treats they have. Today, they did not disappoint! My one daughter got a unicorn, while the other picked a large heart doughnut with sprinkles, and they got a few for their teachers. This place has been around for forever, and I am grateful because it's where my parents took us on our way to school as kids too! Such a friendly staff that keeps the line moving, and the doughnuts hot and fresh. Wish the parking lot was better, but hey, its worth the craziness! read more

I live in Sacramento, and ordered a dozen each of their most popular donuts and cronuts for some clients in the Van Nuys area. When my client got there the next morning to pick them up at the appointed time, my card was declined -the bank flagged it as suspicious activity. How embarrassing for my client! But the awesome staff let her take them without payment and called me after she left to settle the account. I don't know a whole lot of businesses who would have let $70 worth of donuts walk out the door in good faith, and I'm so grateful they did, because it would have been horribly embarrassing for me if my client had been forced to pay or leave empty handed. I am so so grateful to Hung for his faith. To be fair, I anticipated the card could be flagged for suspicious activity and asked them to charge my card the day before when I placed the order so any complications could be dealt with before my client arrived at 7 am. The girl who took my order spoke slightly broken English, and I was disappointed to learn that she hadn't understood my request. Maybe Mama's should consider having their employees who speak English well handle the phones. read more

Yum!!!! They have the best mini croissants and amazing taro cronuts. Yeah, I said taro cronuts. The lady who was helping me and my mom was super nice. We asked if we could get a discount because we were going to sell them at church for the Typhoon Haiyan victims. I actually don't know if we got a good discount because my mom paid, but we did buy some things for ourselves. We bought macaroon cookies and 2 taro cronuts. 1 cronut was supposed to be for me, but I ended up only having a little bit because we ended up sharing it with the rest of the volunteers at church who were serving food. The little that I did taste was pretty incredible. It was like taro whipped cream in between two crunchy and soft cronut buns... (I call them buns because they hold something in between). The texture of the "buns" is definitely better than the one from Spudnuts. The macaroon was really nice, soft and coconutty with a little bit of crunch on top. It was delicious! I will definitely come back. The customer service was excellent and the mini croissants, cronuts, and macaroons were bomb! You might miss this place because it looks like a little shack with green trim. It's along the south side of Sherman Way, cross street is Balboa. If you're going north on Balboa, there's an entrance right before the Sherman Way light. If you're going east on Sherman Way, once you pass the Balboa light, there's an entrance. read more

Had some delivered by personal courier last night (from LA to Nashville). Oh my! please come East young man. (Mike Tang, et al that is.) Tender and flavorful, filled with lemon or creme. Plain glazed, Sugar-raised and Old fashioned Cake style. I had samples of every one. Star of the show was the German Chocolate Cronut - complex and fantastic...Sweet Chocolate sprinkled with Coconut topping on crispy, yet slightly tender layers of dough then filled with creamy smooth and perfectly sweet Bavarian Cream. Yowzaaa. We need you in Nashville. Y'all come now. read more

My favorite donut shop in the valley! Their apple fritter is pretty close to Randy's. I love the fact that they have special flavors that the usual donut shops don't have (like blueberry old fashioned, red velvet old fashioned...) I usually get their apple fritter or maple long john. I feel #blessed that we have Mama's so I don't have to drive all the way to Randy's or SK. read more

They didnt have the donut that I wanted when I went. Customer service was good but the only reason I even took time to go was for that bacon donut from the pictures. I bought a half a dozen but they were subpar. I'd honestly give them a 2.5 if its possible on this grading scale. They do have a lot of hype but will I actually bother to take another drive down there probably not. Will I go back? if I am in the neighborhood then maybe. read more

I'm a pretty basic donut lover. Give me a maple old fashioned and I'm a happy guy. But they have this cronut with fruity pebbles and it's The Bomb! It has Bavarian cream in the middle and something about the combo of dough, cereal, frosting, and cream makes it fantastic. The people working there are very nice. I wish their burritos came with potatoes; and most of them have meat. But I look forward to trying their egg sandwiches in the future. They also decorate donuts for holidays and for the Dodgers, which is fun. read more

I've gotten a lot of people addicted to this place. It has the top three qualities I appreciate in a food spot. 1. They have the best donuts that are insanely light, flavorful, fresh, and not overly sweet. 2. The people who run it are always amazingly nice. 3. It's a classic donut joint, as in the prices are what you would and should pay for a donut, and they give you donut holes on the house. It's also filled with locals and regulars- always a good sign. Oh! And they have GREAT chocolate donuts, as in chocolate in the dough, not just the icing. Why is this so hard to find these days?! read more

Friendly staff and quick service. Your typical Asian owned donut and breakfast sandwich joint that pepper any cities with a good amount of Asians in the area. When I entered, there were a handful of older citizens occurring tables. Reading paper while babying a donut or two. I was greeted promptly and the guy behind the counter was friendly with his suggestions. I ended up with a croissant sandwich with eggs, bacon, and sausage. Also a chocolate cake donut with peanuts and a glazed twist. Not bad for brunch. The total was somewhere between $5-6. The food was decent. Exactly what I had expected from a place like this. What I liked was that they tried to keep the grease to a minimal. The sandwich wasn't overly greasy like from other places considering this was in a croissant. The donuts were also as expected. Not much to complain about :-) Just a decent place to grab a bite of sandwich or donuts! read more

Unfortunately I've been here just once and it was on my way to the airport...in a hurry. However I was impressed. Pastries, sandwiches, drinks, etc. I only give this place 4 stars for first impressions. I'll have to give this little place another try. Then I'll try Dad's Donuts in Burbank! I hear the Boston cream filling is doesn't have the artificial taste like Mama's. I'll be the judge of that. read more

Not only were the donuts outrageously delicious but the people who work here are amazing!!! I called them on a Sunday at 11:45 and ask them if I could have 50 donut for a birthday party. Not only did they have 50 delicious donuts but they went out of their way and prepared a special donut celebrating my son's birthday. I love these guys! They really are the best donuts in the valley. Friendly staff and they have a wide variety of stuff to choose from! They're so sweet because they throw in extra donut holes if you're new to the shop! Thus far, the best doughnuts in San Fernando Valley. The chocolate glazed doughnuts were delicious. Just the right sweetness for my taste. I also ordered the bacon cronuts. Dangerously addictive. The staff was friendly and knowledgeable. I had to call them on the phone because I thought I had been charged twice. The guy who helped me was very cool and calm and assured me they would take care of the issue. Great dooughnuts and coffee. Definetly coming back to try their breakfast and lunch sandwiches. The corner plaza is pretty run down and has questionable people hanging out, BUT this donut shop is still worth the visit.

No, I am NOT pregnant. :-) just cravings like most people have. Walked in this morning around 10am & was greeted by couple of employees. Both very nice, sweet, helpful and kind. They have so many different donuts, croissants, sandwiches, hot and cold coffee, espresso, latte, bottled drinks and more.. They have an indoor and outdoor seating and the place is super cute and very clean, chill and you get what you pay for. I got a dozen donuts from them and tried one on my way home and it was just decadent, fresh, fluffy and the frosting isn't overly sweet. Has parking and a restroom for their customers! Will definitely return next time I am in the Encino area. Established back in 1960 & Winnie/the owner of the place took over ownership in February of 2023. The next morning, I opened the box and realized how small the donuts really are for the price. Compared to Randy's Donuts, there's really no comparison. Further, they become a bit hard. There's also another donut shop south of the boulevard on Topanga Canyon (I believe around 4872 Topanga Canyon Blvd) that does an excellent job. If you go too late, they're usually sold out -- which says a lot. Sometimes driving a little farther for better quality, larger donuts, and fair prices is absolutely worth the trip.

It was uncomfortable to see, and it prompted me to leave this review. Good variety doesn't make up for bad service. I wouldn't recommend this place if you're expecting to feel welcomed.

They do accept credit cards but there's a small fee when used. Price wise, they're all pretty much cohesive with the others in town. Positive for the place, the hours are good.

They offer plenty of options and also serve food, though I didn't try it, so I can't comment on that. But the boba itself was solid, and since I love a good boba, this place gets a pass from me. The guy at the register was really nice, and parking was a breeze. Even though I'm not from the area, if I ever pass by again, I'll definitely stop for another drink.

ELNO is located in a building with other small vendors, and there's a seating area that fits only two to three people. I found parking easily since I went on a weekday around 4 PM. My sister mentioned that on weekends, parking is a real hassle. It's definitely worth stopping by if you're in the neighborhood.

The food is excellent -- salads, sandwiches, quesadillas, pastries -- and I routinely get two to three days' worth for fifty dollars. This guy is the worst at his job, because he actually kept stalling the line by telling me to get in the back of the line, when it would've been faster to ask me my name and just pass me the bag.
