Great to find a Taiwanese place so easily accessible in the Alpharetta area. The staff were extremely courteous and friendly. One look at the menu and I already knew it wasn't engine Taiwanese food but I wasn't really expecting it to be. I mean it was owned by Korean people so it's probably their take on it. Just came to the food court to grab some food and I saw this place and thought, I'll grab some Taiwan "style" of food! Some items on the menu looked like it was made for a more Americanized experience. I don't remember the name but it was like rice with an orange chicken looking thing. That is not Taiwanese. Not even real Chinese lol. On to the food: I ordered the classic beef noodle soup and when it came out it was a much lighter color broth than it normally is. Instead of a dark reddish black broth, it was a light brown. The flavor was pretty similar but nowhere near as rich as it could or should be. It did remind of of Beef Noodle Soup and that's just what I wanted at the time. For a price of 7.60 something it was totally worth. The noodles were so QQ(a Taiwanese or Chinese form of measuring how chewy a noodle is). My fav part was definitely the noodles and you get SO much in it too. I was pleasantly surprised. I left quite stuffed! Overall this place isn't a bad find for the area and you get great bang for your buck. If I were to rate on authenticity this place would've failed miserably. But for the price and pretty decent taste of the food, it's pretty good if you ask me-- just come expecting real Taiwanese food and you'll be good. read more

My favorites: Taiwanese rice noodles with the optional curry - stir fried rice noodles with chicken and shrimp and veggies. Bamboo shoots with pork - "A1" on the chinese menu - delicious! Szechuan sytle double cooked pork belly Salt and pepper chicken - this is incredibly addictive and the best version I've ever had. Mama's Kitchen is my go to take out lunch spot. We've been regular patrons of Mama's Kitchen and have enjoyed most everything that we've ordered. The usual goodies that we get are the Beef Stew Noodle Soup, Taiwanese Stir-Fried Rice Noodle w/ Pork, and the Fish Filet in Black Bean Sauce. The Beef Stew Noodle Soup is a favorite, we always get that on every visit if we can stay a while to eat it onsite. It's best enjoyed fresh, not as takeaway. We ordered the beef and broccoli and a bowl of chicken noodle soup The downside to Mama's is the price. Located inside the Korean H-Mart, you'll find Taiwanese food that is DELICIOUS. Niu rou mian (beef noodle soup) = huge portions, hand pulled noodles, tender beef - amazing! Jajangmyeon with the hand pulled noodles are also amazing. Everything here comes in huge portions (one dish could be shared between two people), low prices and is consistently delicious per my parents who frequent this place every week. I was intrigued by the Asian supermarket with a food court inside and that's how I was led to this little restaurant. There are lots of places to choose from, but the reviews at Mama's Kitchen were the best. My family and I didn't venture away from traditional Chinese dishes. We ordered General Tso's chicken, house fried rice, and beef with vegetables. Everything was very good and tasty! My only complaint is that the fried rice was lacking some flavor and was a little pale in color. I like dark fried rice with a good amount of soy sauce. We ordered from this place on Uber Eats. I picked it because Uber eats had great reviews and so did Yao. I was not disappointed. For appetizers we got this vegetable spring rolls and the scallion pancakes. The spring rolls were delicious. The scallion pancakes were all so good, not what I expected and I didn't like the sauce with them but they're definitely worth trying. I also got the sesame chicken which is amazing. We got the beef along with the eggplant and pork and I loved all of it. The hot and sour soup was more sour than it was anything else and I don't know that I would get it again but it was definitely hearty and well-made. Additionally I was craving lo mein and I was not disappointed. I would definitely give this place five stars and I'll definitely be ordering from here again. While I did not like the flavors of some things they were necessarily bad but rather unique. There's plenty of other things to try getting Taiwanese noodles which I will be trying to get next. I do recommend this place at least for Uber eats. I haven't been to the restaurant but it is someplace I would order out from again!! read more

They are in the food court inside the H Matt- cooks and staff are from La Mei Zi in Doraville, so the good is great! They are still as friendly as always and the food is still super tasty. My fav is the seafood. They also have beef, pork and preserved veggie and with option of regular noodle or rice noodle. Fried pork chop on rice - portion is huge and pork chop is seasoned very well. Very savory dish Boiled pork dumplings - very flavorful and bursting with juice and meat inside Taiwanese style spicy boiled fish - slightly pricier than their other menu items, but worth it. Very aromatic and delicious Taiwanese rice noodle (curry or regular) - also a must try item. It's just plain good. Chicken nuggets: ok, I might have lied when I said I haven't been disappointed. I got the nuggets once and found it to be very dry. Maybe over fried? But it's ok, I'm willing to overlook it because everything else I ordered was great. I've visited this restaurant numerous times over the years and it always had good (but not great) Taiwanese food. This last visit though (late Sept 2019), the Taiwanese food they served was awesome. Apparently there has been a change of ownership and now they serve the most authentic Taiwanese meal I have ever had in Atlanta. I had their beef noodle soup and the fried chicken and rice dish. Both dishes were tasty and reminded me of Taiwan deeply. This place is definitely the go to place when I crave Taiwanese food now. read more

I have been a regular here for nearly a year. In an area with no shortage of Taiwanese and Chinese offerings, this place truly stands alone. Your first thought, it's in a grocery store? Really? Let me break it down for you: 1.) H-mart is to grocery stores as NASA is to bottle rockets 2.) Mama's Taiwanese chili bean noodle dish can be ordered in a variety of configurations and they take tremendous pride in its authenticity. 3.) If you are a fan of spicy, tell them. I have had several iterations of a variety of their dishes ranging from intense flavor heat to blazing seafood dishes. 4.) In a small unassuming container on the counter contains a spicy oil/paste that can only be described as mythic. I literally put it on everything. 5.) They are the absolute nicest people and do whatever they can to make sure you enjoy the dish they've prepared for you. 6.) Their dumplings are outrageously good. 7.) I drive nearly 20 minutes to have lunch here passing a litany of more convenient places. Building a rapport with a group of people who take great pride in their food is something many overlook. Do yourself a favor and give them a chance. When you're done, you're still in an awesome grocery store with a massive ramen aisle. read more

MAMA MIA! When David R. posted a photo of his Taiwanese Rice Noodles, I knew that I would have to run down and check them out. I was actually in the store on Sunday morning but they do not open until 11am so I had to wait for another day. :( This restaurant is located in the H-Mart food court so ambiance and decor is not why you would choose to eat here. Therefore, this review is all about the food. Today I had the pleasure of having lunch with my son (Awwwwwe!), so we decided to try out this new Asian restaurant. I decided to order the Taiwanese Rice Noodles without curry and he ordered Mama's Chicken with Rice. My dish arrived smoking hot while my son's arrived a short time later. We both waited until the smoke dissipated before diving in. My noodles were perfectly seasoned and were neither greasy nor dry which has been an issue with other restaurants. It was a perfect balance of beef, shrimp and vegetables and the serving size was HUGE. This is definitely enough to share or save for another meal or snack. My son liked his chicken and rice. The chicken was lightly breaded white meat that had been fried and dressed in a sweet sauce. He really liked it because it was a quality dish and he loves a sweet sauce. Even the rice was nice! Each dish was $7.95 and more than worth the price. So glad to finally have a new option for one of my favorite Asian dishes. Thank you David! read more

Best Singapore Noodles I've ever eaten!!! I was in the Johns Creek area today and craving Asian cuisine. I found Mama's on Yelp and ordered take-out. This place is located in the food court at HMart but parking was easy. The flavor of the dish was amazing and it came with plenty of chicken and shrimp! Highly recommend Mama's!!! read more

4/19/202. It was a cold and raining day. I was feeling down as the pandemic making it's way around the globe and it's the fifth week of home quarantine. The only thing that could cheer me up is the authentic Taiwan style cooking. I used to go to La Mei Zi in Chamblee to get my home style cooking fix, but the original cook and owners left and started their business inside the H-mart at Johns Creek. I am a die hard foodie of Taiwan style cooking. As soon as I read about the original cook/owner owns this place. I decided to take a long drive, it was a long 40 min drive to the place and another 40 min to get back home, but it was WORTH EVERY SINGLE MINUTE. The food was just the way I remembered. I ordered, Chicken Nugget, Pork Chop Bento, Chicken Drum Stick Bento, and the awesome Beef Noodle soup. Even when they got cold after the 40 min drive home, they still taste delicious. Not only, the owner packed the food in such meticulous fashion, all dishes are packed neatly, there is no spillage, and clean! What's even extraordinarily, every single person working at Mama also were wearing their masks. Imagine working in the kitchen with masks on. Thank you for caring for your customer and for your sacrifice. The portion were generous, and pork chop were marinated just right, not too salty with a hint of sweetness to it and full of flavors. The beef noodle soup was delicious , the hand made noodle really makes a difference. The beef noodle soup was the only thing I microwaved , it will be disrespectful if I eat it cold. While heating up the contents I snacked on the cold chicken nuggets (sorry chef) and they still taste super yummy. After waiting patiently for 3 long mins. It was piping hot and ready to chow down. It was the perfect dish for this cold raining day. Again, thank you for working thru this difficult time, and making delicious food for people like us. read more
