LOVE LOVE this place. My hubby and I come here whenever we can. They have wonderful food. My usual is the Pasta Ravenna. Delicious! It is bow tie pasta, chicken, artichoke hearts, sun dried tomatoes all smothered in a garlic cream sauce. My mouth is watering just writing about it. I can also recommend the tootsie rolls as an appetizer. This is several kinds of cheese and herbs rolled into a wonton wrapper and fried gooey deliciousness, served with their homemade marinara. This place fills up fast. So either get there early or prepare to wait. The only take reservations for parties if 8 or more. Seating is pretty tight. There isn't much privacy between you and the table next to you. All this being said, you can't pass up the food. read more

Our new family favorite! Moved to Montana from Colorado about one year ago, and had been dying to try this place. There is usually a pretty good wait time, so the earlier you can get there, the better. Don't worry about the wait, because after you are seated, it will totally pay off! We were given their buttery garlic bread, while we waited for our food to arrive. It was amazing! Freshly baked bread, topped with parmesan cheese, Italian herbs, and the best part, chunks of garlic delicately placed over the top. In addition we ordered the Italian nachos for an appetizer. If it were just my hubby and I, this would have sufficed. The nachos were even more delicious then they looked. There is some kind of sauce incorporated over the entire dish, which makes this appetizer a huge hit! Our menu continued as follows; Manicotti Ripieni, pasta stuffed with ricotta, mozzarella and parmesan cheeses, served with marinara, Pollo con Formaggio, two breaded chicken cutlets, ricotta, mozzarella, parmesan and romano and marinara, (this was very rich and flavorful), Sun-Dried Tomato Penne, grilled chicken, sun-dried tomatoes, broccoli and garlic oil, (fantastic), Gnocchi di Patata Dolce, crispy pancetta, fresh sage and sweet potato gnocchi tossed in a savory brown butter sauce, (absolutely divine and beautiful presentation), a Brick oven pizza entitled Abby's Favorite, fresh mozzarella, pepperoni and roasted garlic marinara, (two can definitely share), and finally, a kids meal cheese pizza, cut in wedges, served in a basket. Super cute. And as if that wasn't enough, our desserts included a wedge of Lemon Mascorpone Cake (so light, fluffy, and luxurious), and a flourless chocolate torte, with huckleberry amarone sauce, (simply heavenly). The restaurant atmosphere is quite exciting, and was a perfect setting for my extended family. The servers seemed to be working extremely hard to meet the needs of all their guests, which was a huge comfort to me. Have to agree with others who gave this place one star. Skip it. We stopped in on a recent week night. There were several empty tables but for some reason, the woman who seated us put us adjacent to the cash register and we were constantly being bumped by staff entering orders and charges. In addition, they didn't seem too pleased to have us. They have 6 different soup selections on the menu but in reality, there was only one soup available that night. So we did not stay. Being from Atlanta, we appreciate the hospitality that comes from visiting a truly professional restaurant. It can make a mediocre meal a pleasant exprerience. I like YELP. When a restaurant has as many one or two star ratings as they do 4 stars, beware. read more

We were seated immediately when walking in at 6 on a Tuesday in July. We were offered bar seating upstairs which would be cooler or a table downstairs that she said might be a little louder. We chose the table and probably should have taken the bar offer. Our table was right by the kitchen window with heating elements and thus was very warm. However the food was worth it. We had iced tea and water which was constantly refreshed. The garlic bread is tasty. Husband ordered a bow tie pasta with a vodka type sauce that was tangy. I had a shrimp and chicken fettuccini with a cream sauce and peas and pancetta. It was super tasty. Very generous portions and we took home about half of the entrees with no room for dessert. Service was good and we will definitely return on our next trip to the Kalispell area. read more

From the minute our group of four walked in, the staff was very friendly and we must have timed it properly because we were seated almost immediately. Our server, Aubrey, was friendly and attentive. We were brought a fresh, parm/garlic bread when we were seated which was delicious. I started with the caprese which tasted nice and fresh. I ordered the pasta ravenna which was amazing, especially when I added meatballs to the order. One warning though, the portion sizes are huge so you may not be able to finish your meal. Worst hostess ever. We went here last night for the LAST time. The food is always good so there are no issues from us on the food. The hostess, however, has never been good, but last night was by far the worst we have been treated by this employee. We arrived at 5:00 PM last night and were the second couple seated. There was nobody else in the restaurant except for one other couple and she wanted to seat us directly next to the only other couple in the restaurant. Looking around we quickly spotted another table in the same area and the hostess told us that it was reserved for an elderly couple. We have been going here long enough to know that this place doesn't accept reservations unless you have 7 or more people in your party.....we assumed that maybe there is an elderly couple that comes in often on Monday evenings or something?? She ended up seating us on one of their "community style" tables so, in her words, "we would be in the mix of it all". Not really the romantic setting we were hoping for but it was fine. Believe it or not the restaurant really wasn't that busy during our time there last night and the next couple that came in was seated where the hostess wanted to sit us the first time. The very next couple that came in, probably twenty minutes after we arrived, was sat in the seat we asked to be seated in and they were in their early twenties. My wife asked the hostess if they were the "elderly couple" she was referring to. The hostess responded with - "dip your bread in the sauce - it'll taste great". My wife actually had to ask the hostess to leave our table,as she just stood there awkwardly, basically telling her to eat bread over and over. We were flabbergasted and asked the next server we saw to speak to a manager to explain our distaste with this hostess. It didn't sound like there was a manager on site so we explained to the waitress what had happened but never really felt like we got any resolution - thus the reason for this review. Where we sat really wasn't the issue. The issue is the ATTITUDE of the HOSTESS. We have watched her countless times before have an attitude with multiple customers, but this was over the top. She LIED (for no reason), and was completely INAPPROPRIATE. Her ONLY job (from a customer's stand point) is to seat people. Simple. She utilizing this like it is some kind of power trip. So happy we found this place on Yelp while visiting the area for our wedding!! We are not Italian but we have visited Italy extensively and this place is the bomb! Every fish at our table was passed around and everyone liked everything. They don't know what Spaghetti is I ordered spaghetti and I got linguini. The meatballs were okay the marinara was just crushed tomatoes with no basil or oregano or any herb that i could taste over the massive amount of garlic they use. My wife salad was just a little better. Looked for a wood fired oven they don't have one. Even thought advertise they have wood fired pizza on the menu. Don't go it's terrible and the hostess was dressed liked she worked in a strip club. read more

Food is great. Service (which is rendered almost exclusively by vapid 20-somethings in tight dresses who think they are hot shit), is completely horrendous. I ate here last weekend with a group of friends, two of whom are visibly pregnant. We had a res but were crammed cheek-to-jowl by the surly hostess into a little corner booth that the pregnant girls could barely fit into. Our hostile, inattentive server didn't tell us about any of the wine features. She rolled her eyes when the pregnant girls asked for virgin drinks and told them, "I don't know if we can even do that." She attempted to discourage my friend from ordering their equivalent of chicken parm "because it takes 30 minutes to make and we have people waiting for your table." She forgot to put my order in, slamming it down without an apology 15 minutes after everybody else had finished their food. She called the girls in our group "sweetie" in the most venomous, sarcastic tone. We got a grand total of one drink refill over the entire course of the meal. The whole experience was super disappointing-- we were there to have a good time and drop some money on drinks and didn't get to do either. BTW, I have never had these issues at the Billings or Missoula locations. The self-importance and rudeness seem to be exclusively a Whitefish thing. Anyway, do yourself a favor and skip this one. There are plenty of other, better places to eat in town where you won't be treated like human garbage. read more

I am disappointed to report that after frequenting Mambo's for 10+ years we had the most disappointing dinner there this week. My dish was so salty that it was inedible. My husband's favorite spaghetti and meatballs were also completely different, meatballs were full of gristle and he couldn't eat his dinner either. I really dont get it how this place is only half rated. When we walked inwe were immediately seated by a very cute baby girl who throughout the night filled up our water glasses at a very crucial pace, we were all going through a horrible day long hangover. Had something called italian nachos for an appetizer, fried lasagna slices with gorgonzola and alfredo cheeses and the works and it was uniquely outrageously delicious. I ordered my goto dish: pasta carbonara which was a nice party in my mouth. Made me horizontal for awhile, but it was well worth it. For Whitefish, its pretty good. Compared to most places its average. Creamy Parmesan sauce was overwhelming on fettuccine alla rustica, and the pancetta was a little too much like American bacon. Its busy and there was a decent wait. Very noisy inside. Service was mediocre - came by to take orders and check once later, and otherwise inattentive. Would try somewhere else on next visit, just to see if could find better. read more

We ate here a few weeks back after going up the Going to the Sun road in Glacier National Park. We stopped in about 9pm and it was very busy. We waited about 10 minutes. My dish was just okay, it was my fault that I made it too hot but it was good but it just did not present well. My brother in law had had a spectacular dish! And my wife's pasta was just okay. They will customize for you too. The wine selection is extensive...and we usually get one of the Sangiovese. This place is good but it certainly has a different vibe than the other Italian place. The garlic bread is awesome, with a great amount of garlic. If you do not quite like garlic, let the waitresses know light on garlic. Rough around the edges. Mambo is ok. Usually try not to go there because it's never been impressive but I did recently. Mast outside and over the back area behind the kitchen where cooks go out to smoke and garbage is stored. A little unappetizing. Servers all wear flip flops. While I don't have a problem with that, the health dept. does so not noticing that as management makes me wonder what else is not noticed. It's. We live 3 hours away and this has always been one of my favorite places, but the service has taken a serious turn for the worst. On two consecutive trips I have been waited on by the server "Rodlynn." On both occasions she forgets to bring our garlic bread out until after we received our meals even after asking multiple times. This has always been the best part of Ciao Mambo, eating delicious garlic bread while sipping wine! After our meal she made snide remarks to my wife about not eating all of her food, not something I deem appropriate to say to a customer. Every time we needed something we would have to flag her down because she seemed to be too busy flirting with what must have been the male manager back by the cook station. The whole place wreaks of chaos like they are surprised how busy it is. It is Friday night in Whitefish people! I will give the cooks kudos, they turn out delicious dishes and when my wife ordered caprese that were way over salted, they immediately brought out a new plate that was perfect. The host should be friendly, the service should be good, if not what's the point of being open on Friday and Saturday in Whitefish? There are plenty of good places to eat in this town and unfortunately next time we will probably choose somewhere else. read more

We were traveling and recommended to try this restaurant. I can't say enough about how awesome the food and service was! We had the eggplant, chicken parmigiana, seafood linguini and the bolognese.
