INCREDIBLE! Fresh, saucy, huge portions and the GARLIC BREAD. Oh my Gawd! Our waitress was Ashley and she was excellent and very knowledgeable about the menu. We sat upstairs on the back patio and it was lovely. They brought out warm garlic bread smothered in garlic, olive oil and Parmesan. We had Caesar salad and bowl (it was huge for a starter) of minestrone. Then more garlic bread .. then our entrees, which neither of us could finish. My hubby had the bolognese and I had the Fettuccine lulubella and added grilled chicken. I wanted to try the Tiramisu, but simply had no room. I recommend reservations. We went on Sunday night around 6p and had to wait about 45 minutes. We will definitely return here on our next trip. read more

We went on a Tuesday at 5 pm when they opened. I was surprised at how fast the room filled. The space is small but not cramped. Our waitress was very good. Attentive without being intrusive. We ordered a bottle of Chianti and my daughter ordered a blush wine. The wine was to our liking. We ordered calamari as an appetizer. Not the best I have had but the batter was light and the dipping sauce was flavorful and it was enjoyable. I had a green salad that was very fresh and the vinaigrette dressing was really tasty. For entrees I had linguine rustica which I really enjoyed, my wife had pasta revena which she said was really good and my daughter had the spaghetti with meatballs. The times between courses was spot on and all the flavors were on point. So why 4 stars. That would be because of the host that seated us. We asked for a table for three. He asked if we would like a table outside. It was 96 degrees so we declined. He then offered us seats at the bar which we did not want because we would like to be able to talk to one another. So we declined. We thought that that was it so my wife said ok thank you and we were about to leave. Then he said in sarcastic rude voice " so you want a table inside without a reservation?" My wife said yes please. He led us to the worst table they had and seated us. No where does it say you need reservations. We had been out site seeing and we were probably not dressed the greatest but I have never been talked to like this from a host before. Every one else were so nice we put it behind us and had a great meal. It was just to bad the host had to be such an ass. My husband and I are here while in a vacation to see Glacier antlers Park. This restaurant was right next to our rental and I kept smelling delicious smells coming from that direction, so after a long day of hiking we stopped here to eat dinner bi ordered lasagna and my husband ordered the pasta Ravenna. I ate here twice in a week. It was fantastic both times. Had the bolonese and the penne Ravenna. The bolonese had great flavors. I really appreciated them subbing the pesto oil in for the garlic cream sauce on the Ravenna. My only criticism of the dish was that there wasn't very much chicken. We planned to celebrate a friend's 40th birthday here last night. Upon arrival the room upstairs that we had called & requested then called to confirm was closed. Our waitress, Taylor, saved the day after an unpleasant interaction with the manager, Sarah. After receiving & paying our bill the same manager (Sarah) approached our table to tell us they needed our table for another awaiting party. At this time she also said that no cake, decorations or outside beverages were aloud & if we were indulging in any personal food or beverages then we needed to leave. The outside beverage was a bottle of unopened wine on the table that had been given as a birthday gift, the cake & decorations had been approved by both previous phone calls. The manager's (Sarah) aggressive & unpleasant approach to addressing the issue seemed unnecessary as we were finishing up & heading out. Sarah then took the time to offer what felt like a sarcastic "Happy Birthday" as we exited. Hopefully this approach to management is not felt by other employees. What could've been a delightful evening with friends turned into an astonished group of polite & respectful dinner guests, wondering why such harsh & unnecessary behavior was exhibited by the manager of a restaurant. read more

Such fabulous food. For me, it's everything I want in an Italian restaurant. Garlicky, basily, cheesy, spicy, so intensely flavorful, I can't quit eating it. We started with the Caprese which surrounded a small green leaf lettuce drizzled in balsamic and olive oil. Lots of fresh basil, herbed seasoning, and sea salt. A great starter for two. My hubby chose the Pollo con Formaggio which is their rendition of Chicken Parm. I tried a bite of his and it was moist. The perfect chicken parm, really. You can get pasta with it or not. He chose no pasta and it is such a huge portion. In fact, as we watched the plates coming out, all the portions were generous and leave you with plenty leftover. I chose the Cioppino which was the best I've ever had. (Comparing to Seattle and the Oregon Coast). This surprised me as we are in Montana and seafood isn't always the best. I am used to getting some crab in Cioppino but this honestly doesn't need it. The broth was addictive. Fresh rosemary and basil, fish stock, olive oil, garlic, divinely umami tomatoes embracing shrimp, cod, mussels and clams. So so fabulous but it came out piping hot and I had to wait a good 10 minutes for it to cool. But it was so worth it. Meals come with AYCE fresh baked parm and garlic bread. Its heavan. Service was good. James knew his stuff. Unfortunately, he was so busy and rushed. They seemed understaffed. We were highly pleased. We'll be be back soon. read more

Came here for my birthday dinner, was ID'd so ended up getting a free dessert which was so sweet, it was the dough fondue:) Had the Chicken Parmesan with added pasta shared with the hubs, ordered the Napoli pizza but kitchen got it wrong two times, so it was omitted from our bill and we took it to go. Our friends had fettuccine alla rustica, a MUST TRY!!!! Our bill came all together, and our companions wanted it separated but once it was separated the pizza was re-added to our bill. Not impressed, we didn't tip due to our $13 pizza being re-added, we couldn't flag the waiter as it was super busy, plus he seemed annoyed having to separate the bill to begin with:( read more

Very popular Italian restaurant in whitefish. The place was packed the night we went, so waited an hour for a table. No bar to hang out in, but they said they could bring us drinks if we wanted. I had the lasagna, which was very tasty, but almost vegetarian because the cheese and spinach overwhelmed what meat was hiding in the dish. My wife had shrimp arrabiatta, which had a very nice flavor, although not really spicy and a paucity of shrimp. Complimentary garlic bread was tasty and salad was nice. We had the absolute worst experience at Mambo's. We ordered a takeout dinner and when we arrived home we discovered part of my husband's meal was not there. We called Mambo's to ask for a refund and the gal that we spoke to said she was a manager and was utterly horrible! It's too bad, because the food at Mambo is usually pretty good but the service my husband and I have always felt was very lacking. The waitresses don't really seem to care and it takes forever for you to get your food. If you ask for more bread or a refill on a drink it takes them way too long to get back to you. I think the wait staff needs some hospitality training because they are terrible! read more

Great, fresh Italian food. Our server,Julia, was a doll. Super friendly and effecient. The hot Italian garlic bread was love at first bite. The Pollo Con Fromaggio was huge and delicious. The food came out steaming hot. I love the flexibility when ordering your meals. Pick your pasta/sauce, substitutions not a problem. I love this. Went to dinner with a friend here for the first time. Place is beautiful, lovely environment. Our waitress was not the best by all means. My friend and I are both in the food industry ourselves so we are very patient. Our first appetizer was cold, and had it remade. Our second was slimy. My friends pasta sauce was so incredibly salty. Annual Garlic Budget of $200,000.00! After reading the reviews I have decided that the 400+ 5 star reviews were not of Italian descent and must often frequent Pizza Hut so Ciao Mambo would be a step up! Crowded and one of the worst restaurant flow patterns I've ever seen. Often small spaces can work well if thought out and the greed of mass customers didn't factor in. Garlic? Oh man, didn't want my husband close to me for 2 days! Love me some garlic but there is a point of over use. Ciao Mambo is a prime example of this!!! the bread served at the start of your experience was tons of raw garlic/olive oil with a cheese topping. The cheese topping was not of high quality and the garlic was so raw that it was ridiculously strong & bitter. The ciabatta was freshly baked and texturally spot on. This brings me to the gravy/sauce.....gag! It was canned diced tomatoes dumped in a pot with tons of garlic. Taadaa, that is it. It was more like under seasoned bruschetta topping. Italian grandma's are turning over in their graves. Attaching picture of the enormous chunks of tomatoes in the gravy/sauce for my grandson's spaghetti? What authentic Italian restaurant serves chunks of tomatoes? Where is the pride in the slow, simmered, seasoned gravy/sauce? I had the chicken parm and could only take a few bites. On a positive note, the ricotta was perfection! My grandson had spaghetti w/meatballs and seriously how can that really get messed up? Well, again, the sauce. Combine that with overcooked pasta and add meatballs that could of been purchased at Costco and "come and get it" dinner. Or not!!! The wine list is not maintained therefore I didn't get what I ordered as it had been replaced with another vintage. Pizza seemed to be a favorite but watching the kitchen staff (boys) toss the dough was painful. They trash tossed more dough than they stretched and presented to the customers. It was obvious that training is lacking in this arena. Lemon marscapone cake was A+. Topped with Huckleberry sauce.....this settled my tummy. Won't be back but like with any small business venture in America, I wish them prosperity. read more

From the service to the food we had a horrible experience. Definitely felt that locals where treaded much better. Took us 20 min to get seated and then about another 30 min before we got our food order in. We where supposed to get some bread which we eventually got. It was loaded with garlic although I told waiter that I am allergic to garlic. Second bread came long after our food was already out. Which also took about 45 min to be served. It looked like plain bread with butter but as soon as I brought it close to my moth is also had garlic on it. Good thing I smelled it before I ate it. The seafood pasta I ordered was awful and tasteless with soggy break and pasta swimming in way to much sauce. The mussels tased very only and super chewy. The restaurant itself is loud with lots of kids and bro parties yelling. It also sits in a clone of Gael I since it's an open kitchen. So we smelled like we just rolled out of a garlic bread factory. I will go somewhere else with better service and food for the next couple days we are here. read more
