Favorite place of all time ! Cheap prices and good food never disappoints! I haven't had a drink from here yet but I'm sure it's good. The only down side is that ITS ALL WAYS PACKED ! This place is very good. Great food and drinks but the manager has a nasty attitude. We ordered a lobster and when we received it we were shocked. No meat, just shell.. it wS stuffed with peppers and onions. We were not going to pay to eat peppers and onions. We called the manager over and she said "well that's a pound and a half".... but there was absolutely no meat. Then she proceeded to say that if she wants to eat a lobster then she'll go and buy one at wholesale price.. then she said "this is a business you have to understand that. Then she said that if we'd like she would offer a lobster with meat and then she came back saying that it would be 91 dollars! But with a nasty attitude. For a lobster tail in NYC(where I'm from) we pay no more than 40. And the lobster tail contains all the meat!! I am disappointed that they serve their "lobster" and the way that manager treated us. read more

The food is okay , I went in not so long ago ask for bacon cheese shrimp. The shrimps were over cooked taste like burn. Went here yesterday and I was impressed by how affordable everything was. Our waitress was very nice and attentive, always checking on us. I ordered the 6 shrimps with crab cake dish, the crab cake was really good and flavorful. I heard the rice was very good here but it was alright. Maybe I didn't get a good batch of rice ? I don't know. I also got the calamari, it wasn't that great not to bad either but the red sauce definitely needs some work. It had a very weird taste to it, like an acidic or vinegar taste to it that did not compliment the calamari at all. read more

I like to call this place Sunday because that's where we go every Sunday after church whenever we want good seafood or when we have out-of-town relatives and want to take them to have some good seafood! The best Mexican seafood restaurant in Houston, Texas. The best grilled red snapper in Houston. If you order off the menu it's just like every other seafood restaurant but if you choose your fish and get it cooked the way you want it that's where you separate the men from the boys, but be prepared to spend money like a grown man! Their ceviche tostadas are absolutely the best, and if you do order off the menu and you're not feeling fishy the Monterey chicken is absolutely delicious always juicy and tender!! Food is pretty good. Portions are pretty good as well. After eating, my family and I paid a waitress, and began to walk out, and got chased by the manager, and security accused of not paying. (In front of 60+ customers) Once the waiter cleared the issue up, and informed the manager it was HER FAULT, he offered no apology, simply turned and walked back inside. Came here for lunch the other day and had the 6 pc. shrimp and stuffed crab. My husband got the whole fried tilapia. We both had the shrimp mambo rice as our side. Spoiler alert, it's shrimp fried rice. The food was really good and fresh tasting and we both enjoyed what we got. The service is where Mambo really suffers. I think we saw our waitress three times during our entire lunch. It also took a really long time to have lunch. We were there over an hour and we're both pretty quick eaters so it wasn't us taking our sweet time eating. So if you have time limitations I would not recommend going here. Overall, if you're looking for good, cheap seafood and you have some time to kill I'd say this is a good place to go. read more

Our family loves this place. The gumbo is always consistently excellent. The shrimp fried rice is remarkable. People come here just for the shrimp fried rice!! If you love fried seafood without the high upscale prices, this is the place to go. I kind of find it funny that people preface their negative reviews with "the place is packed" then complain about the service. The word that comes to mind for this place is "consistency." When you put out that kind of volume of food with the huge turnout of customers, speaks to the quality of what you are receiving. I went in yesterday for lunch with a group of friends who recommended it. I live pretty close to this place but honestly I don't think I've ever been in to eat. The restaurant is fine nothing to special and it seemed clean enough. My friends recommend that I get the #1 combo which is six fried shrimp and two filets of tilapia fried as well. It was decent nothing all that special the shrimp was a bit rubbery I though and the batter just kind of fell off the fish. I ordered a cup of gumbo which was by far the best thing I had the whole time we were there it was really good if I went back I would probably just order the bowl of gumbo. The fried rice that everyone talks about is good but I thought it was sort of an odd combination for this place. It did taste good though. My biggest problem came wit the service they were crowded and I don't know if that affected the waitress or not but she only came by like once several times we stopped other wait people to ask them for this or that. Also it took quite some time for the food to come. We were in the restaurant like 90 minutes which is a long time for lunch if you ask me. All in all decent sea food at a good price you may have to wait a little while to get it and the gumbo is very good. read more

You will see a wide variety of people, blue-collar workers, business people, moms with kids, all nationalities here. It is a wonderful, happy, LOUD environment. Cheap, filling, good food. I'm from out of town and went here after hearing the food was good and cheap. Didn't know what to expect. The dining room is one large open area with lots of tables. We sat on the patio. The food was good and I don't have any complaints about the service. The place was full but it didn't take long to get our food and the waitress checked on us frequently. If you are looking for fancy, this isn't the place. But if you are looking for a very casual, low-key outing, this is your place. read more

Working on the north side today, I spontaneously stopped by the 45 location. I was super suprised by the fun atmosphere, freash seafood and awesome flavors along with a reasonable lunch menu. I can tell why the mambo rice is so famous....it's really delicious. I also got the fish and loved the tartar sauce. I can't imagine more delicate batter.
