Wow. I wanted seafood and boy did I get it! I had a taste for seafood and all the restaurants that I generally go to were closed so I stepped out of my comfort zone and found Mambo"s Seafood on Yelp. I am happy that I did. To my delight I had a fusion of seafood and spices. With the help of Wendi my waitress. I ordered satiated shrimp sautéed in Mambo ranchero sauce with shrimp fried rice and a side salad. It was perfect , 5 plus on a a scale of 1 to 5. I also ordered and had seafood empanadas. Driven by this place for years and never tried. Finally stopped in. Why did I wait so long?!?! This place is AWESOME!!! Got the empanadas, Mambo Style Shrimp, and fried shrimp with mambo rice. Everything was EXCELLENT! So much flavor. The staff is very friendly and check on you often. The prices were VERY fair. The only negative is the beer is a little pricey. Server was nice and polite. the fried shrimp was cold when they brought out my order.. I asked to speak to manager and spoke to Marcelleno, he asked if he could bring me out 2 shrimps to comp my meal. The most dispectful Manager, rolled his eyes at me when I asked for my condiment. I might come back based on my previous experience but that Manager needs to be fired for being so rude. The worst customer service I have ever received at this restaurant. read more

Service was slow and waitress seemed disorganized. Fried fish and shrimp had an "off" flavor like from old grease. Ordered french fries and was served asian style fried rice. Overall was not impressed with the food or service. Positive note is that portions were large and prices are reasonable. What's better than being treated with respect at a popular Mexican joint? Enjoying every bit of it. I loved coming here, because I looove fish. Not only do I love eating fish, I also love catching em' too. I enjoyed the atmosphere, all the bright lights and neon signs. So colorful and popping reminded me of Sonic Colors.. if you've ever played the game. I ordered the Mambo rice, fish, shrimp, & Mangorita. The rice was delicious. I had to rethink where I was. The fish was tasty, not as good as Sheephead or Red Snapper.. talk about some good tasting fish. The mangorita was not too sweet or too bitter due to alcohol. It nicely prepared and topped with spices. Our waitress, Andrea; as I can remember her name was polite as she can be. She couldn't speak English well, but she still served us. I'm glad she wasn't rude since we couldn't understand every other word she was saying. We both was patience (her and I). The overall experience was calming and great! No doubt.. A Mexican restaurant without Chips and Salsa or Flour Tortillas? Mambo is that place . After you try the seafood however it is unlikely you will care one way or the other. Probably, no more so likely one of the best "Fresh Fish" seafood restaurants in Houston. I had the Pulpo, et al Ceviche which was extraordinary with a fresh oyster 'tossed in' which was a superb touch. There was a bit more tomato than I am accustomed to however it was fresh tomato and added to the the consistency rather than detracted from the dish. As well the shrimp and fresh fish had been preserved long before the meal was served hence it was all of excellent flavor. Since this is a franchise please do not project my review beyond this particular Mambo. In addition probably one of the better Michelada's in the city. read more

The service is always fast and pleasant. I find the food portions plentiful for the price$. Its loud and bustling. The patio is always a great option when the weather permits. Its a hands on seafood dining. Scott towels instead of linen. Whether fried or grilled or steamed the food is fresh. They have an indoor market where you can purchase seafood for home cooking or have it prepared to go. I definitely recommend it for both afternoon and evening dining for good food, friendly service, relaxed atmosphere. Must try: Mambo Michelada with your favorite beer. New to Texas. Went here twice on lunch break. Staff is not culturally versatile but they are very pleasant. The food is really good, but there are no active covid procedures in place other than wearing a mask. No limit to the amount of occupants. I got into a debate with another customer on my lunch break about how close I was standing to him, meanwhile there were about 75 other ppl in the establishment all within close sitting and eating quarters of one another, not including staff. Not sure why he was so worried about me. The staff corrected everything by preparing and giving me my Togo order. I wished the other customer Luck during the remainder of his wait! LOOKS CAN BE DECEIVING. The only thing that was decent about this place was the fried rice. I couldn't even finish 1/4 of my plate. The grilled vegetables that came with the entree was a complete joke and the crawfish was the size of a miniature Twix chocolate bar. At least hubby enjoyed the bacon wrapped shrimp. The air conditioning is not working properly. It's nearly 80 degrees inside. To operate in Houston in summer you are looking to dine inside and take a break from the summer heat. You won't get that here, feels very humid inside. If you want to eat where it feels comfortable plan on going elsewhere. Food was ok. read more

Wish I could give zero stars. Literally just threw $20 worth of food in the trash because it was garbage! I ordered the Special Mambo Fried rice habanero style.l with extra shrimp pork and eggs. I received a box of bland rice with 3 baby shrimp and a few sprinkles of pork. No habanero. Seriously? This was definitely my last time going to Mambos. Hadn't been in years and decided to give them another try. Never again. I'm disgusted. This is one of my favorite place to come eat with my boyfriend every single Friday , until yesterday. We always sit at the bar where Alex the bartender gives us the biggest customer service, despite we being discriminated from other places here at Mambo's it didn't. Alex being gay too he understands us and always made us smile when we eat. Going back to yesterday, not only we notice him not working there, but that he got fired. We were disappointed not just because of that, but because the others bartenders barely say anything to us. We felt very unsecured something we never had from this place. read more

1. Bad/rude service. We waved at the waitress 3 times and she deliberately looked at us in the eye and looked away. When the manager saw us and finally decided to help us the waitress looked at us and shrugged. It's a "Family" restaurant, and a Mexican background ... lots of "Ambiente", sometimes loud music and singing patrons. Lots of fun. The moment we got there , they're was no server to attend us took couple of minutes to take our order for our drinks about 30 minutes later takes our order and we're sitting waiting over 1hr & 30 minutes until we asked when was our food coming and she said the system went down so it didn't go through ! If the order didn't go through why couldn't she tell us within couple of minutes. She asked what we ordered multiple times and we asked for the manager and the manager was no where to be found!!! She had the audacity to ask if we were ready for the receipt WITH NO FOOD YET!! Fiona was well aware of us and give our customers good service with no problem! I used to love going here. Haven't gotten Mambo food in about two years. Was so excited today because my brother went to buy some. To my disappointment 1) the grilled shrimp I got were smaller than my pinky. 2) the gumbo lacked flavor, was kind of flat even my dad noticed and he loved the gumbo from before. 3) they gave me the smallest amount of fries but that's ok because they were super soggy and not good. The only thing that I loved was the rice. 4) my family got the plates with the fried shrimp and fish and the shrimp were also smaller than my pinky and the fish was small too!!! Everything got smaller and they gave us way less food. I get if this is a way for the company to save money but the plates are not that cheap. read more

Been to this location for numerous of times every time i'm in town, and always such a great service when ordering out or eating there. however, that is not the reason why i'm suggesting this location. overall the food is amazing. the employees amazing as well. there's a cashier that always amazed me from his way of working i don't really remember the employee name, but he was really nice a bit quiet,but was impress that he,s able to multitask. not only i seen him working as the cashier, but also at the bar at the same time. i would gladly recommend this employee to anyone that is looking for someone that will deliver you an amazing service to your businesses. so next time i'm back in town. i would gladly come to mambos. great job on the people ya have hired! read more

Gringa white Girl Review: before I married my husband, I never ate here. Then, he brought me here and it's been extra pounds ever since :). Seriously- the food here is consistent and great quality. I pretty much order the same three things every time so I will review those: Chelada wings are the best- good size wings, thoroughly cooked, and spiced with the Mambo michelada sauce - just the right level of spicy for me! The empanadas are the best of any I've ever had. The outside is perfectly flaky and the filling is superb! The combination fish and shrimp ceviche is a generous portion with fresh pico (I add a little michelada mix to mine - ask for a small side of that and mix it in). I also think the rice is excellent and let me say again - the michelada mix is so good I keep a bottle in stock at all times. The atmosphere is very casual and this place is always busy. It's on my top 10'list of favorite restaurants! read more
