I ordered uber eats from this restaurant a little while back and everything I got was very yummy. The ramen and poke bowl were on point. Mammoth poke is the best poke I've had in Chicago so far. I always get the 3 scoop protein build your own bowl. All the ingredients are so fresh and tasty. I always get the spicy tuna, ahi tuna and spicy salmon over rice. My favorite sauces are the wasabi mayo and the volcano sauce. I've tried Mammoth Poke a few times and have enjoyed my meals! The 3 Scoop Protein bowl is a pretty decent size (it's equivalent to a "regular" size at other poke places) for about $17. I've tried their salmon, spicy salmon, ahi tuna, and tofu -- all were delicious and tasted fresh. They have a range of toppings you can choose. I was most surprised by kimchi since I haven't seen that at other poke restaurants (though I haven't been to too many in Chicago). I also tried their noodle base (the other options are sushi rice, brown rice, or mixed greens) which was okay but I will probably stick to rice in the future. After a long flight and landing in chilly Chicago, this ramen spot in the Loop was our first stop, since it was nearby our hotel--and it was exactly what we needed! The ramen was rich, flavorful, and incredibly comforting on a cold day. Definitely a bowl that warms you from the inside out. They also offer poke bowls, which is a great option if you're in the mood for something lighter or cold. The restaurant is on the smaller side, but it's clean and well-kept, with a welcoming vibe. I just don't think the quality of the ingredients were that great but I did think the selection of toppings was pretty decent. I also got a Thai tea which was actually BAD. Good quality ingredients, however the staff tends to go too heavy on the rice and fillers, and is too stingy on the fish and toppings. You have to ask for more of each topping because they will give you 1 teaspoon of a topping and think it's enough. Ambiance is nice but seating is limited. read more

I would say the ramen is what I expected. It is relatively average and something I'm not mad about. The egg was a little overcooked for me and I wish there were more noodles. I thought they had a good selection of protein options, as well as toppings, some (like beets) being a little more unusual. This was a perfect stop between checking out the museums in this loop area. It was casual and easy to find a spot to hang for a bit, the employees were friendly and helpful, and I found a ramen that was yummy but not heavy. The garlic ramen was light but still had that nice fresh garlic flavor. It was only lightly spicy so I think most people would enjoy it, and has classically curly egg noodles. The toppings were decent enough, a plain egg right over medium lightly marinated and a thin grilled piece of pork chashu. Mammoth Poke opened earlier this summer, in the space that used to be occupied by Pastoral (RIP). The name is a cute play on words, as Mammoth is relatively small, albeit clean and bright, with counter and table seating available. For a Loop location, the hours are generous (11 am - 9 pm, including weekends, per their web site and door signage). By no stretch am I a poke expert, as my knowledge is limited to the uninspired-looking bowls of rice, fish, and seaweed that can sometimes be found next to the prepared sushi section of a supermarket (I know)....With that being said, I was ready to expand my palate with some real poke! When my turn came, I mentioned to the worker behind the counter that it was my first visit. I opted for the veggie bowl, served with tofu). From there, I was able to customize. I liked that I could change up my base, with two toppings, so I was not stuck with something one-note (I chose rice and greens). As a first-timer, the selections for mix-ins, toppings, and sauce were a lot, so I basically plagiarized the '606' bowl - one of the Loop signature menu items. The lemon sauce gave it a bright burst of zest and I added on the Furiyake which I learned is a mixture of sesame seeds, seaweed, and salt. Everything was fresh and the individual flavors were complementary. Being able to order through a human and not a kiosk was a bonus. On my next visit I look forward to branching out into some of the proteins and sampling a signature bowl. Mammoth also offers small bites (miso soup, seaweed salad, gyoza, edamame) as well as the ramen and bowls, so there is truly something for everyone. read more

Stopped by for a quick poke fix one evening and seems like a nice addition to the Loop! Tl;dr probably still a slight preference for Poke Poke, but definitely a solid option! The inside is nice and has a moderate amount of seating, and I appreciate that they make it easy to order online or on the tablet near the front door. I got a large build-your-own (17$) with noodles (these are basically vermicelli rice noodles), and greens, 3x salmon, 1x spicy salmon, 1x tuna. I thought the portion size overall was fine, but maybe a bit on the small side considering I ordered a 'large'. Definitely spring for the rice base instead if you want to be more full! I chose the classic poke and spicy mayo as my sauces and found them to be very tasty and my food wasn't not over-sauced. The fish was fine - no complaints about freshness. Their ordering system is very straightforward, though they do have limits on the number of toppings you can pick (up to 8). Things like seaweed salad and avocado are extra $$. I'd say they lose out to Poke Poke here since I believe the former has more topping options, and are also a teeny bit more generous with the amount of food you get for a large. The interior here is a little nicer, though, especially since it's so shiny and new. Luckily when we ordered it was pretty empty and the food came out very quickly! Definitely recommend coming by in the evenings/after the lunch rush if you want to avoid crowds. Will probably stop by again soon, and maybe try their ramen! read more

On a whim, I went to Mammoth Poke for lunch today. I saw their sidewalk signs for ramen a few days ago and thought I might want to try it. I had low expectations, to be honest, because it had the feel of a franchise from the outside. I ordered the spicy roasted garlic ramen, because I enjoyed it at Umai in the past. I saw that they also have Thai iced tea, so I ordered that as well. I got the drink within a few minutes. It was actually really good, had a very authentic taste and nice tea flavor. I sat down and waited about 8 minutes for the ramen to be brought to my table. It had a dark reddish orange color, so I thought it might have a nice spicy taste. Yep, I was right. It had a stronger spicy taste than the one at Umai. The pork had a nice char to it and was properly cooked. The egg was boiled nicely, not too soft and not too hard. I finished everything within 10 minutes. I would definitely come back and order the spicy roasted garlic ramen and the Thai iced tea again. This might be one of my favorite go-to lunches here in the Loop. read more
