Good food, good prices, quick service. My favorite is the California burrito. It's pretty big. Best hangover food ever! I like the Carne asada fries too. We have liked everything we have tried besides the fish tacos. They aren't bad, just not the best. read more

What a nice surprise. Was in the area for daughter's softball game and stumbled upon Mananas. The best chicken burrito I've had in a long long time. Everything very reasonably priced. Nice homey, authentic family atmosphere which was charming and comfortable...the opposite of a chain restaurant. Friendly service too! read more

Was driving through Alpine and decided to pick up dinner on my way home. Ordered a few things to go there hot hot carrots and salsa are great. Unfortunately when I got home the chicken quesadilla had absolutely no cheese... Lol it was just chicken in a folded tortilla. And the fries in the carne asada fries were not cooked all the way :( They were not that busy either, even if they were I was happy to wait for good food.... I will try them one more time maybe just order something different. read more

Best Mexican food in Alpine! Grew up in Alpine and know all the Mexican food restaurants very well and Mañanas has always been my hands down favorite. Now that I've moved away, I find myself missing this place and always look forward to coming back and getting another one of those amazing Cali burritos! 6 April 2014 I and 5 others ate at Manana's last night. One of our party had the carnitas plate. He had a few bites, set it aside and complained it was the worst carnitas he'd ever tasted. He spent the rest of the night puking. This place is serving spoiled food. read more

How did I forget I ate there rolled tacos and they hardly put any meat. Went there tonight and wish I hadn't because I was really looking forward to eating a good burrito. I ordered a bean burrito no cheese to go. The beans were not fully cooked as there was little hard pieces and way more tortilla than beans. $4.50 expensive! Not the best choice in Alpine! I only come here when I'm really craving Mexican food but it's late and Tapatio's is closed. A few times I've gotten sick from eating here, so has a friend of mine. The only thing I order here now is the rolled tacos. I do like the salsa and hot sauce they have. read more

This place is just ok even if you're starving and haven't eaten all day. Food is bland, the tables are dirty, and the music blasts through the restaurant at a level too loud, thus ruining whatever ambiance there was. There are plenty of other Mexican joints in Alpine, skip this one and find another. read more

This is ALWAYS my go to taco shop, but tonight may have just changed my mind... I've been a vegetarian for 4 years and they always have the best potato rolled tacos and have no problem taking meat out of my orders. However tonight I ordered a half order of "carne asada-less" carne asada fries and 3 POTATO rolled tacos (and my friend who eats meat, ordered the same kind of potato rolled tacos but slightly altered). When we got home and began to eat our food, I noticed small chunks of meat under my fries and was instantly put off from my meal. After picking out all of the meat specks I turned to my POTATO rolled tacos in hope for a satisfying outcome. However as soon an I bit into my rolled tacos I realized that something wasn't right about them, after ripping them all open, I was appalled by the sight of fully loaded BEEF rolled tacos!!! My friend looked at me in confusion as I tore apart my food thinking maybe it had just been one (which they have done to me in the past, giving me two potato tacos and one beef hidden in between the two). When I ask for something that they sell on their menu, I shouldn't be presented with the wrong thing!! Definitely won't be back for a while.... read more

Prices have gone up and quality has decreased over the last several visits. I've started going elsewhere until/if I hear better things.

The food was too good to be away for longer than a month. On a whim, I decided to stop by again despite past bad experiences with service. The surf and turf burrito is simply delicious. pretty fast service. prices ok. food ok. ordered the fries, and they were the previously frozen, straight into the fryer, and dropped into a 3.5x3.5 box, and handed to me in about less than 20seconds later. a bit too hot to eat right away, but it was just right after you start driving at 65mph on the freeway 8, with all the windows rolled down. they tasted not too salty, not too bland. also got the carne asada burrito. I don't know, the burrito was not as good as some of the other places I had tried. It was mostly tortilla, and not enough meat. It was also hard to chew into it, the meat was too tough. Their salsa was good though, really fresh tasting! It was a bit out of the way for me to get there, and I feel food was only ok, meh :/ If I am in the area again, i'd probably pick some place else, or if I had to go, I'd order something else. read more

After 10 months I tried the chicken burrito again. Filling, is still the best compliment I can give. Still lacks flavor that a few onions and peppers would provide. On the plus side, the carne burrito was very good. The tortilla was filled with onions, tomatoes, chopped jalapeños, guacamole, and plenty of seasoned beef...if only there were a chicken version. Also on the plus side, I was happy to find that a chipotle salsa option has been added. Now, if your looking for a chicken burrito, try Hilberto's off Jamacha in Rancho. It's everything this burrito is not, awesome tasting. And should you find yourself in El Cajon, I think you'll find their rolled tacos blow Manana's out of the water too. Having lived in Alpine for the past 4 years Manana's was our favorite Mexican restaurant. The past three or four times we have eaten there we have noticed the food isn't anywhere near what it used to be. We tried them again yesterday. I ordered chorizo and eggs. It seemed like they had prepared it earlier and then reheated it. Terrible. Sorry Manana. I have just added you to my list of restaurants I will never visit again. read more

I am not an overly picky customer for restaurants. I went to Manana's in Alpine yesterday and will never return. I ordered a chile relleno burrito. They asked if I wanted enchilada sauce, and I said yes. I did not know they add $2+ to the price. For a la carte burrito and 1 beer, the total was $12.15. The cheese on top of the burrito was not melted. They gave me plastic utensils so trying to cut the burrito on the ceramic plate, was interesting (I almost used my pocket knife). The service staff were not friendly, no eye contact, no thank you, actually one woman gives you dirty looks when you ask for something. I am always very friendly and tip well for good service. The burrito was one of the worst tasting, not hot to serving temperature, and then unfriendly service. Oh well, I can go to Sombrero's around town and get friendly service, much better food, for 2/3'rds or less the cost. read more

Friends and i were driving through alpine. I was starving and wasnt sure where to eat my friend had suggested to come to Mañanas taco shop she kept saying it was a great taco shop nd kept saying great things about it. I had never been here so i decided to give it a try. We walk in there were two cashiers one female nd a male. I never got greeted as well as my friends the girl was completely rude, while we were looking at the menu she never told us she would help us whenever we were ready. So i come up to the register my friend and i place our order , young lady never said thank you once we got done. She also forgot to give us our drink which i understand happens sometimes. Our food was ready i order carne asada nachos which i was enjoying they were real good. Half way through the plate i find a HAIR ! Immediately i walked towards the cashier (the male know) and told him what had happened. Just to make my first visit even worse the male cashier didn't even bother to apologise of what had happened! He asked me if i wanted another plate i said no nd walked back to my table. I was totally in shock knowing how they had reacted to this incident. I had to take the initiation and ask them if they could refund the money!! I totally disappointed with the visit and worst customer service ever! Never going back again. To whoever is im charge please tell your cashiers that customer service is first!!! Never going back read more
