Inside was mostly cabbage and not a lot of clear noodles, carrots, or celery. The wrapper was crisp and crunchy. Instead of the usual sweet chili sauce they provide a sweet and tangy plum sauce. It would've been better if the sauce was more viscous though so it wouldn't just drip off the egg roll. * PAD THAI For sure not the best pad thai I've had and this was lacking in flavor - no complex smoky, charred flavor from the cooking, no taste from the tamarind paste, no savory taste from the other sauces used. I also thought it was so weird that a Thai place doesn't take requests for spice level. They only had dry chili flakes on the table so you could adjust the heat that way, but it didn't hit the same way. They are pretty stingy on the protein but it was a generous portion of noodles even though it looks small in the photo. Just the right amount of egg and nice slippery noodles and sweet soy sauce Pad ba mee: sort of like phad see ew but with egg noodles! Taro and mushroom spring rolls: tasty alternative to the standard Thai spring roll! Spicy eggplant stir fry: you can choose white, brown or turmeric rice to accompany! Is turmeric rice extra healthy? Taro spring rolls PROS: - Good quantity to share, came with four pieces and a dipping sauce - OK flavor, but rather have it on the more bland side than on the overly seasoned side. Cons: - Does not re-heat well unless you have a toaster oven Crispy chicken with cream sauce PROS: - Good amount especially to share - Comes with choice of rice: white, brown, turmeric - Almost 50/50 ratio of protein to carb. CONS: - Is definitely not crispy when it comes to tossed in the sauce. - Would not recommend for takeout or delivery, as it will lose the crunch. Pad see iu with pork PROS: - Good quality to share. - Decent balance between noodles and other ingredients such as vegetables and meat. CONS: - Slightly on the salty end, may be a little too much sauce. Works well for reheating. If you have leftovers, highly recommend, adding additional vegetables, or scrambling egg with the remainder so it absorbs some of the extra salt. I really like how authentic the food tastes and how affordable it is. The flavors of their pad Thai is perfectly balanced, which is why it's my favorite dish with the boat noodles coming in at a close second. I've had other dishes as well such as pad kee mao, khao soi, panang curry, curry fried rice, and the basil pork belly dish which are all made pretty well too. This is the perfect place to order from when you're too lazy to whip up dinner on a week night or when you simply want comfort food. There is a water jug and spices for you at your table. The food took roughly 10-15 minutes to arrive, it smelled sooo good! I would say that the food was amazing, they have hot sauces in the side that you can add to kick up the spiciness of the dish as opposed to asking for a spice level between 1-5. The pad Thai my friend ordered was good, spices like sriracha and chili oil where added to enhance the spiciness flavor. I got the pad see Ew and it was one of the better pad see ews I've had in a while. The sauce was not sweet or too salty, the perfect savory balance with that signature taste that comes with pad see ew. Nothing was under or overcooked. The only thing is that this dish needed lots of spice to up the kick, as I am someone that likes spicy food. We did run out of water at some point and it wasn't being refilled. Alas, the dish as a whole was not as satisfying as other Thai style fried trout I have had. Their trout is particularly thin without much meat. The sauce was oddly thick too, so it was goopy. Even after warming, it was thick and gelatinous. - Seafood Delight, in yellow curry - 4 Stars This was yummy in a normal, expected kind of way. I didn't mark it down because it has 4 scallops and 4 good size shrimps. Points for good contents. - Jungle Curry (red paste), with soft tofu - 3 Stars The menu was clear that this curry dish doesn't have coconut milk. What I didn't expect was for the dish to be soupy with the contents in liquids. The dish was flavorful, even though it was nearly identical to the Phad Chad Seafood. We ordered from Manao through their online ChowNow system. We liked this so that we could order online and pick up when they said it was ready, instead of waiting at the restaurant. We ordered their Crispy Rolls, Pad See Ew, and fried tofu and everything was good. We did ask for utensils, but they weren't in the bag (but no worries or a big deal). Their Thai tea was really good! On their website it says they close at 9pm and on google maps it says they close at 9pm, but they do close at 10pm (which is what Yelp says). So make sure you're double checking their times. Tried getting into the ramen place next door for dinner, only to be shown the way time was over an hour long. This place was next door. So starving from our 7 hr drive from north of whistler we came in to check them out. They were extremely busy and swamped too. I felt so bad for the lady working the register. She may have been the manager or owner. She was not only taking our orders, but also the telephone orders, working as a bus boy, carrying out plates to people, even had to be a security guard to kick out someone begging for money and almost got into a fight with that individual when she stole a coke!! She apologized profusely for that incident, but it's cool. I ordered their pad thai with beef, tom kha with chicken, yellow curry with beef, another curry dish as well as appetizers of egg rolls and hot chicken wings. She stated it would take about 25 min for the food to come out which we were ok with. Food was really good!! I don't know whether it was because I haven't eaten for over 12 hours. Or I did a 5 hr hike and haven't eaten. Or we drove an additional 7 hrs. Or whether the MSG game was strong. But it was one of those moments after taking my first bite I had to close my eyes and just slowly chew and smile. The pad thai was amazing. Extremely soft and tender beef. You can really taste the nutty rich flavors. The tom kha was also really good. Deep rich flavors. Coconut flavor was amazing. The other dish that was amazing was the yellow curry. It came with the curry already in the rice. So it wasent all supy. But the taste of curry was throughout. Tasted amazing!! The eggrolls are good too. If you mess those up, are you a real Asian restaurant? I would highly recommend those 4 dishes. I really wanted to give them 5 stars. Stopped for a quick late lunch, and found they weren't too busy on a Saturday afternoon. I was able to order without a wait in line, and there were several open tables, a couple weren't cleaned. The nice girl taking my order was quick and polite, and I was sent to find my table with my utensils and cup for water. They have water carafes at the tables, hopefully they're changed between visitors. The soup special was pretty yummy, but definitely needed some chili paste to spice it up. Love Manao for takeout! The most consistently delicious Thai food in Seattle, which is saying a lot because there are other good Thai spots (Wild Ginger, 45th Vegetarian Thai). My go-to at Manao is the pad thai with shrimp, which is always enough to eat for a few days. The noodles are not drenched in tamarind, but have mixture of spices for flavor and chopped nuts for texture. Other favorites are the garlic green beans, and crispy rolls with peanut sauce. The place itself is delicious and very authentic, with a kitchen of hardworking Thai ladies in the back. You're supposed to order up at the front, be given a number, and then go sit at a table where you wait for them to bring out your food. I ordered a Chinese Broccoli with Crispy Pork Belly, but a few minutes after ordering I was told that they were out of Chinese Broccoli. They gave me the option to switch to a different dish or to just choose another vegetable, so I switched over to the Basil Crispy Pork Belly which is very similar but has different vegetables in it. The food came out within 10-15 minutes for everyone at the table, so not too bad! The portion size is really great. I think my biggest problem was that the pork belly was too hard and not as crispy as I had expected it to be. The sauce was great, the vegetables were great, it was overall a nice dish!
