Finally some decent Thai food. Moved to the area a couple years ago and have been looking for some Thai food. Prices are decent, servings are generous. Got a a large Thom Kha soup and a Panang chicken curry. The soup was enough for 4 people. Happy with the food. Ambiance... well, it's not all there. It's an old space attached to a motel, it has that old sticky restaurant feel. The tables and bench seats are set in place, and the benches are too far from the table. A family of six went to this hidden gem of a restaurant on Good Friday. The restaurant is part of an extension of a hotel, and I was a little skeptical to be honest with you. However, when the appetizers started to arrive and the main course all I can say is it's one of the best restaurants I've been to for flavorful food that is a blend Thai and Burmese. This is a family business and it does take time for the food to come out because it's cooked to order. The food is fresh and I would highly recommend going here. Food: We were a large group and ordered Shrimp Tempura, Panang Curry, Pad Thai, Pad Kee Mao, Pattaya Fried Rice, Beef Noodle Soup, and Mango Sticky Rice. Each and every item was delicious and good portion sizes. The food was really spicy, keep that in mind when ordering based on the spice level. Star Item for us: The Pattaya Fried Rice which we haven't tried anywhere else so far. A delicious fried rice wrapped with an Omelette. Service: This place seemed like short staffed because there was only one person taking the orders and serving us at the same time which caused a lot of delay in taking orders or receiving food. The Pad Ka Pao Mu Krub is absolutely fantastic and I have yet to taste anything like it in the Niagara Falls area. If you do not want to be as adventurous, but are looking for something equally delicious, the Pad Thai is superb and really brings out the flavors of citrus and amazing bean sprouts accentuate whatever meat you select, making it a can't miss selection. We decided to spend our Valentine's Day here as this was where we had our first date a little over 8 years ago. This place is never crowded, it's always nice and quiet, the staff is attentive but they give you your space, the staff is friendly, and the prices are reasonable. We both had and shared the Pad Thai and the Beef Curry. We've never been disappointed with any of the food items here. I hope this restaurant never closes, so I'd highly recommend checking this place out for any of your Thai or Burmese cravings. We ordered Pad Ke Mao, red curry, and eggplant curry for the meal and mango with black sticky rice and Thai iced tea for desert. The shrimp red curry was pretty average. The body of the curry was skimpy, overly dependent on green beans, and would have wowed with more bamboo shoots and vegetables. It really could have benefitted a from more Thai chili, ginger and lemongrass. Some kaffir lime peel/ leaves to make it pop. The beef Pad Kee Mao ("drunken noodle") really disappointed. When it was brought to the table, the server called it Pad see ew, which is a dish using the same wide noodle. The dish lacked the distinctive sweet and spice it's known for and was vegetable anemic. Instead, it was strongly soy flavored (pad see ew means noodle friend in soy sauce). When we asked the server, she apologized and said she said the wrong word, when we tried to clarify, she brought the dish to the kitchen and some raised angry sounding voices/ yelling ensued. We left the dish after two bites each. No oyster sauce flavor.No sweet and sour chili. Carrots rather than bell peppers. We probably would have eaten more except the beef has a strange taste stemming, we guessed from the baking-soda laden meat being cooked together at high heat and sticking to the egg. The eggplant was the star of the show. It appeared a little oily but was really so tasty. The silky tumeric-flavored eggplant was highlighter with crispy topping, perhaps garlic, fried scallion? It reminded me of the crunch from pieces of dried shrimp atop curried eggplant my Burmese college roommate used in his Khayan Thee Hnut. The mango was fresh, the choice of white or black sticky rice was welcomed. Unlike many places in North America, it wasn't overpowered with either coconut milk or sweetened condensed milk. The iced milk tea was extremely rich and tasty, enough so to allow me to water down and add plenty more ice to prolong the drinking adventure. What we learned: focus on rice and curry dishes, try rice-based Burmese dishes. read more

I have been craving Burmese food for so long and this hits the spot. I had pork belly curry which was very delicioso , it was a bit on the saltier side but it balances out with rice. Pad thai was also really nice too, considering the amount of Pad Thai I have tried from different restaurants. The chickpeas and paratha, and vegetable samosa took me right back to Burma. Don't let the fact this restaurant is attached to a motel deter you from stopping in! Park in the middle spots of the motel a short walk over. The outside definitely does not represent the quality of the food inside. The spring rolls were standard and I thought could use a little more flavor but were perfectly crispy. My husband enjoyed the calamari and fish soup he ordered. The pad Thai was one of my favorites I have ordered at any Thai restaurant and provided enough for leftovers too. After having fresh rambutan on our honeymoon in Hawaii, we were excited to see it on the menu for dessert over ice! Came here for the second time last week because I was craving for papaya salad. We had papaya salad, pad kee mao, noodle salad, Shan Kao Soy and forbidden mango sticky rice. We were the only table at the time of dining. Our server were very nice and attentive. However, if you're hungry then this might not be the best place for you as the food takes longer than other places. Papaya salad was really good but the portion is too small for the price. It seems that their price have gone up since the last time I was here which is understandable because everything else have gone up however the portion does not reflect on the price. After we received our papaya salad, it took another 20 minutes to get our entrees. Pad Kee Mao was good but again the portion does not reflect on the price. I love drunken noodle ( flat noodle ) so I don't usually complain with however it's being cooked. Shan Kao Soy was disappointed due to my past experiences. Shan Kao Soy usually serves separately with soup on the side and you mix it yourself which was what I expected upon ordering this dish. I will not be ordering this dish again if I do come back. This dish does not have flavor and was on the salty side even though I personally eat more salt than anybody I know. Noodle salad was one of the main reason why my brother wanted to come here, but he ended up being disappointed with the dish. I took a few bites and it tasted like coconut noodle soup but turned it into salad. Our best dish was the appetizer and the dessert which I did not take a picture of. We were looking for something Asian and the reviews looked good so we gave it a try. We got the papaya salad ($9.95) and the ingredients were ok but the taste was a little off. Too much fish sauce. The pad kee mao ($13.95) had good taste but they over cooked the noodles and they fell apart. The Eastern Thai Beef Salad ($15.96) was too salty and the beef was really tough. This is a new place and hopefully they will improve their execution. The venue is nice and the service was great. Unfortunately we left disappointed. Decent food and a fair option for Thai in the Falls. It's close to the outlet mall. I've been here a few times and most recently have been obsessed with their eggplant dish. It's an eggplant curry with a ginger, garlic base and the pieces of eggplant are very tasty and cooked just right. The dish comes with rice, although the first time I opted for the dish without the rice to save a few calories and it was great too. Their tom yum soup is good although a tad on the sweet side...almost a bit too sweet, but they have nice large and family sized portions that are very shareable. I sometimes have trouble getting water refilled here (unfortunately have to keep asking). The most recent time I came here the order was messed up and they brought out panang curry instead of eggplant curry, but quickly corrected the error when noted. Hopefully the food didn't go to waste! They do have hot coffee, but beware--it's only with milk and sugar and there is no black coffee option. The pineapple boat is very delicious, served in half a pineapple with fried rice, cashews, raisins and your choice of protein. I've sampled a bit of that when friends have ordered it and really enjoy it! This is a great dining option if you're shopping at the outlet mall nearby! read more

My first time here and I would have to say that I'm appalled and dismayed that this place had a 4.5 star overall rating. I ordered the ocean roll with peanut sauce for appetizer and the chicken ginger stir fry dish it actually had a different name but that's what it essentially was. The ocean roll was just ok and the peanut sauce was horrible. It was very oily and stringy consistency and didn't taste that great either. Also, in it near the entrance and everytime the door opened I caught a whiff of a bad smell that was like a cats dirty litter box. One of my favorite vietnamese restaurants is called pho golden on one Ave. They have similar ocean rolls which they call spring rolls and also similar stir fry dish to what I ordered at mandalay. The food at pho golden is much more tastier and fresh and costs less. At Mandalay I spent $22 and for a similar meal at pho golden i spend about $16. I highly recommend pho golden over mandalay and will never visit mandalay again read more

Best Burmese food in the Buffalo,NY area and on our top 5 list of best overall food in Buffalo/Niagara falls. You have to order the authentic dishes, any of the Burmese curries are amazing. The service might be slow on a day the place is packed, but the people do their best, don't give you attitude, and the best part - Food is Always consistently delicious, no matter the wait! I dined alone, and was comfortable dining alone. It's a average sized restaurant, nothing fancy, but nice. Nobody was here when I first got here except for the family, but three other tables were filled by the time I finished. I order the pineapple boat with tofu, it was really tasty and a beautiful presentation. I wanted a little extra sauce and they brought me two options. It was good on its own, but the sauce added something to it. The rice was delicious! I also ordered the Thai iced tea which was very large and tasty. I've heard a lot of great things about this place, I was recommended by a few of my co-workers to come here. I ended up picking up food on a Wednesday night after work, roughly gave a time of about 20 minutes. When I had called, I could barely hear the women taking my order due to the noise level, was surprised when I got there almost everyone had cleared out. I settled for the Yellow Curry, medium spice, with Chicken. It was delicious, filled with tender potatoes, carrots, peppers, and loads of chicken. I opted for medium spice, but know for next time to tell them to crank it up! I ended up getting an extra side of white rice for $2. The meal itself was around $12, and it fed four comfortably. I also ordered the Samosa's, which were not as expected. Anywhere else I've been to their Samosa's are enviting, filled with colorful vegetables and you can opt in for a meat of your choice. They unfortunately fell short here. I ordered them veggie style. They came filled with potato and onions, it was like eating mush, and it looked like mush too. Bland, if it wasn't for the sauce they come with on the side, it'd be tasteless. I would have ordered more, I just couldn't pronounce any of the noodle dishes, and trying to over a phone would be difficult, so I stuck with what I know. This place is okay. Went with my family for dinner on a Saturday night and was seated right away. Service was somewhat slow, from taking our order to having our food served. We ate family style and ordered a few dishes including beef curry, goat curry, pad thai, and fried fish. We ordered medium spiciness and found it to be pretty hot already so I recommend ordering mild if your taste buds are sensitive. Food was fine, however I felt like the spice they added to alter the level of spice level masked the already developed flavors of the dish. For example, the pad thais I've had at other places typically have a somewhat sweet taste from the use of palm sugar, but the dish here tasted mainly of spicy sauce. The beef curry was good and reminded me of a beef rendang. I enjoyed this more than the goat curry we ordered. My friend ordered a Thai tea which she claimed was too sweet and had too much cream added. Overall, would try eating here again with a lower spice level to enjoy the main flavors of the dishes more. read more
