    Mongolian Beef 蒙古牛

Was craving authentic Chinese food and this one came highly recommended. The owners are so happy and kind. The soup was so good and fresh. The photo of the Mongolian beef is steamy, it came out piping hot. I had some picky eaters with me and they also enjoyed the beef. Will be back!

Just got off the plane, found this Chinese restaurant on the main road leading to our hotel. So hungry...forgot to take pics. Ordered Fish filet with vegetables, Mandarin beef and Honey walnut shrimps. Each entree comes with complimentary rice. Everything tasted good, typical American style as was stated on menu, we devoured it all. I expected smaller portions since prices are all under$20. Walnut shrimp is the best of the 3. Staff is friendly and efficient, comfortable seating, clean tables and floors. Will visit again.

Mandarin King Chinese Food is for when you havr a craving Chinese food in Laguna Beach. Located on N Pacific Coast Hwy, I find the parking kind of hard. I guess I'm unimaginitive when it comes to chinese food. I just wanted some beef chow mein. A little greasy. I enjoyed the noodles. I greatly enjoy the small serving of rice they included. Atmosphere: 3 stars. Crowded. So is, in and out hamburger, most good places are. The ambiance is cozy and small. Service: 4 stars. They are busy and the wait is long. If you are looking for fast food it's not here. Recommend calling ahead if you want to save 20 or 30 minutes. Value: 5 stars. I paid $15 for the chow main. For the quality I felt I got my money's worth considering it is Laguna Beach. Quality: 3 Stars. I got my money's worth for the quality and quantity of food. The service was friendly, though it did take a little longer for the food to arrive during peak hours. This slight delay is the only one reason I'm not giving a full five stars. The other is the box leaked. Fortunately they put it in a bag. Overall, Mandarin King is the best value for local Chinese food.

The biggest problem is unfortunately the thing with the restaurant's name on it. The xiao long bao used to feel delicate and deliberate. On this visit, nearly the entire basket had already leaked before we touched them. Once a soup dumpling loses its soup into the steamer, you're basically eating a steamed pork dumpling with an identity crisis. The wrappers also felt heavier than I remember, with thick pinched tops that became dry and doughy. The pork filling itself was decent, but the overall construction just felt rushed. The boiled pork and chive dumplings had the opposite problem of what I want from a dumpling wrapper. Too much dough, not enough filling experience. The chili wontons were considerably better because the wrappers were thinner and more supple. If that texture showed up across more of the dumpling menu, I'd probably feel very differently. There are still good dishes here. The rice cakes were chewy and satisfying and disappeared quickly at our table. Bok choy was simple and solid. The pig ear had good flavor and texture, although ours leaned salty and a little softer than ideal. What pushes this down to two stars is everything surrounding the food. Ordering and paying are heavily pushed through QR codes, yet the system isn't particularly intuitive. I tried paying through Apple Pay with Amex several times before realizing it simply wasn't accepted, with no useful explanation on screen. Service feels similarly detached. Everyone appears extremely busy, yet getting help with ordinary things can be strangely difficult. During our visit one of my kids spilled water beside the table and we were told it could simply be cleaned after we left. I'm not asking for white glove service, but sitting next to a puddle while eating is an odd solution. The restroom situation doesn't help. You have to retrieve a key and head upstairs into an older restroom that feels completely disconnected from the otherwise modern ordering setup downstairs. That's ultimately my issue with Sunny Dumpling House now. There are pieces of a good restaurant still here and a few dishes I enjoy. But the execution has become uneven, the service feels increasingly automated without becoming easier and the dumplings themselves are no longer good enough to compensate for it. I'd rather have fewer systems and better dumplings.

The food is consistently great, the portions are huge, and the prices are very affordable. One of the main reasons we keep coming back is Leo. His service is amazing -- always friendly, welcoming, and very accommodating. He really makes the dining experience even better and makes you feel taken care of every time. The restaurant does get packed during lunch and dinner, which just shows how good the food is. If you want a more relaxed visit, I recommend going around 2 PM, which is usually when we come. Overall, great food, great service, and a place we will keep returning to.

I can barely respond in time until he speaks again or asks the question over. I asked him to slow down when picking up an order today. He said okay, but kept speaking at rapid machine gun rate. Here's the problem: He makes the customer feel rushed when there is no need. As a result, the customer interaction becomes unpleasant and even somewhat disrespectful. I know that's not his intention, but I can tell you that I would prefer to speak to another person if that option is available. I was picking up at an order around 11:30 am on Wednesday morning and there was only one another customer who was waiting for her pickup order. The restaurant was empty. The invoice number on the receipt is 60102. Thank you.
