This place is a delicacy, every time my wife and I are in town it's a mandatory stop. The staff is always very friendly and helpful. The food is absolutely delicious every single option and we've tried everything.. believe me. The restaurant is in a nice area just steps from beautiful views of one of the most beautiful beaches in California. Go Extra Spicy

    Excellent Ramen

Food was so amazing I wanted to order the whole left side of the menu. 10/10 Was served by some super buff guy that looks like he definitely skipped leg day but by how fast we was bringing out our food and drinks he gets a pass. 10/10 The bar seemed super cool to sit at but we were in a booth which imo was a pretty solid experience 10/10 Ramen was delicious, the Udon did catch my eye for next visit for sure

Chill beach restaurant ambiance! Food came out SO quickly (5mins or so) and the waitress always immediately came by to refill our water cups. The food was very salty though, hence all the water refills. I recommend their calamari, so tender and with the right amount of batter. If you're looking for a nice lunch by the coast after a beach/hiking activity, this is the place to be! :)

Spicy edamame ugh I couldn't get enough!! Ramen so amazing

Service was absolutely amazing, food was even better. Small little ramen place is the type of places my husband and I love. All the workers so sweet.

WOW! WOW! So we were strolling to downtown and decided to try the GU Ramen restaurant. Super cool inside with nice our seating. And HOLY SMOKES best pork belly sliders I've ever had. Wife got the pork belly ramen and again some of the best ramen ever...the flavors were amazing. Our waiter, Brandon was fantastic, super helpful, so friendly and made the experience even better. Can't wait to try everything on the menu...yummolicious and our dog in backpack couldn't have agreed more...one of the best restaurants on our foodcation.

    Early dinner on 07/13/25.

Good ramen. Friendly staff. Perfect location by the beach. Would definitely go back and recommend to others.

Chill spot good service and the ramen and udon always hits. The mild tofu udon is so good and lowkey 2 meals. The fried rice is also pretty good. The price is good too. This on a rainy day hits. The spicy level is spicy tho watch out

Quick service, great food, and good vibes!! Gu Ramen has everything you need and more! I cannot wait to come here again, the servers were so funny and kind, they answered all our questions and helped my friend pick the perfect bowl when he was indecisive. I can't wait to return soon!! (Please pardon the terrible photos, we were having too much fun!!)

We were happy to find a ramen place after hiking... wanted the soup. Thankful that we could choose the level of spiciness. Also, the server asked if we had any allergies or sensitivities. Good job! The tonkotsu broth did not disappoint. Yum! We were happy with how plentiful the noodles were. Could've been cooked a tad longer. The chashu was good. So good that we would've probably enjoyed another piece and a few more toppings. If we had more time, we would've tried the tapas. The menu looked great. The restaurant gets busy during dinner. There were about six booths, a big table and a bunch of spots at the bar. We only had to wait a few minutes after writing our names on the waitlist before we got seated.

I can't believe I live so close and it was my first time coming to this place after 3 years. If only I would've known! A very quaint, small little spot nestled amongst other shops on PCH but this one isn't to miss. On a rainy day it's perfect for ramen with all the choices one could ask for. I'd highly recommend ordering some tapas which all sound great but we definitely have a clear winner with the ahi tuna on top of crispy rice. The filet mignon entree was also something I'll come back again and again for.

The place is clean, restrooms were tidy, and the food was fine but definitely not authentic which was expected because it's a franchise with many locations. Our server was very kind, he seemed really new and timid but he was very attentive. We ordered a couple bowls of ramen, a bento box, and a sushi roll. After a couple minutes the server returns and tells us that the sushi rice isn't quite ready so it'll be a couple minutes, no problem for us. After a couple more minutes he comes back and seems really hesitant to say what he wants to say but finally comes out with "I'm really sorry but I won't be able to serve the sushi roll or the sushi with that comes with the bento box, I don't think the chef wants to make it." Given the restaurant opens at 11:30 and we were the only customers there with an arrival time of 12:45 I expected 1. The sushi rice would be ready because it was over an hour after opening 2. For the chef to make whatever is available on the menu. My family isn't one to make a scene so we let the server know that it was fine and we would order something else. The restaurant is small enough that you hear every exchange and when our server went back to give our order the two chefs spoke to each other in Spanish and then to the server in english. My family and I are filipino but unfortunately for the chefs in the back I do understand Spanish and all I will say is that they were definitely giving our server a hard time. I try my best to be very gracious because you never know what someone is going through but I will stay true to my experience and what I witnessed. I personally do not condone any bullying and so I really did not appreciate the way they were treating our server or the effect it had on our dining experience. Won't be returning to this location.

Good broth, noodle quality, and Chashu. Added some spice to it with their chili oil (which is a bit more potent than most places, so don't go too crazy if you can't handle some heat) Also tried a spicy tuna hand roll. Well constructed and good quality tuna. Will have to come back and try more of the Sushi selection. Friendly and attentive staff as well!

It was a Friday night and surprisingly we were sat pretty quick. Started with edamame and they were very good and presented nicely. The California roll wasn't anything to write home about but they were large. The crunch roll was one of my favorite I have ever had but a tad on the sweet side. I liked that it wasn't too crunchy like some rolls are. It is surgical in its layers of crunch. Another roll I liked was the dragon roll. The rolls are on the larger side which is good but they match the price. The Tonkotsu ramen was pretty bland so I recommend adding some spice or sauce to spruce up the broth but the ingredients were all tasty. Overall it's a decent place to get sushi. Service was excellent and quick and they always checked on us to make sure we had everything we needed. Worth checking out if you are close by but I was neither super impressed nor upset we ate there either.

It's recommended to get 1 portion and order more as you go since it'll be fresh and not soggy. I tried their recommended dipping so as, the beef and the duck. Both of them had amazing flavors that made me keep wanting more! The soba was nice and chewy with the perfect al dente texture, and it paired perfectly well with the dipping sauce. Also tried the shrimp tempura soba and was pleased with the portion they provided. The tempura itself was also nicely coated, not too heavy on the crumbs. I don't think many restaurants offers cold soba option so if you never tried it, here is the probably the best place in south OC to give it a shot. This restaurant is located in a large plaza so there are plenty parking. The wait is usually not long at all. I have been here a few times with my family during lunch and dinner and it is never that packed. I think it is located in a pretty secluded area so it is not busy but the food is very good. The decor is simple but clean and has many tables. This most recent visit I ordered the marinated beef hot udon and my daughter ordered the Kakiage cold udon. I didn't know what Kakiage is so the staff kindly educated me that it is a ball of Tempura vegetables. Please don't mix it up with Karaage which is Fried Chicken. They are two different dishes. The broth of my beef udon is deep with umami flavor. The soup base has a legit dashi flavor, not the instant udon flavor. You can tell the difference right away. We also ordered the grill squid. The grill squid is tender and has a unique tastes like the dried squid snacks that I get from the Japanese market. The staff even offered hot water for my daughter's left over dipping sauce. She mixed her dipping sauce with hot water to drink it as a soup. Overall the food is great and we'll definitely be back for more.
