Tonight I am having the Curry Chicken with snow peas and onions, add broccoli, except they substituted instead of added. It's okay though. I'm in a rush. Still the flavor is great, onions supple yet slightly crunchy, and just the right curry heat. A family of 6 in the window try to calm a squealing toddler. This has been my second visit here. I absolutely love it. Their sushi is amazing. So fresh. So hard to find sushi so delicious and fresh. My favorite are the California roll and rock and roll. The California roll is so fresh. The avocado is so ripe. The rock and roll is just delicious, the whole roll is deep fried. Can't go wrong with that! The last time I went I got one with eel. And eel isn't my favorite but here it might be. Wow was it good. The only things I am picky about here are there miso soup. I feel it could use my miso paste. Great little gem in philly! We decided to have dinner here after a long day of walking. The staff was very courteous, and dealt with indecisiveness very well. The restaurant was not too busy which was good for us because we were seated as soon as we walked in. I noticed they had sushi on the menu but I didn't order any of the specialty rolls. Our food was brought out at a good time. I ordered shrimp noodles which were probably made to order because they were very hot. They are pretty generous with the shrimp. Staying at the Crowne Plaza on Market and walked over to look for a spot to eat and found this place. Reading the other reviews always is a good guide. I had General's chicken and rice - so realistically cannot comment or rate anything other than that (tho it does not stop others from rating food they did not eat) - the crispy chips you get to begin with are some of the best I have eaten and I am at chinese places all over the USA - these are way different - and very good. They serve hot tea and a big glass of water too. The server was very, very, nice and my experience was very good... Now - if we can only get them to join the airline miles program to get miles too - I would eat there all the time - My experience was very good - and the food was DEFINATELY not like the food in Nebraska as Mark said - ( and I have been to Nebraska, more than once ) this food is better - enjoy your visit, food, and ask them to get on the air miles program.. read more

It's surprisingly decent with the typical Americanized Chinese fare, all at very reasonable prices for Rittenhouse. My Buddhist Delight and beef chow fun were solid, and not overly salty, although the portions are on the small side, compared to Square on Square. I have been here twice now. For the sushi, I thought this place was a 4! I will definitely come back for the sushi. I had the volcano roll and it was delicious. I had the garden salad both times and it was refreshing and the dressing was delicious. I wish the actual salad was a little bigger just so I could eat more of that dressing. I had the eggplant and garlic sauce the first time and it was a little lacking in flavor. I think that was a one off though. I picked a bunch of hot oil on it and it was fine as leftovers the next day. I also like ending the night with my orange half they give u. Definitely my new go to sushi spot! Check them out! DELICIOUS lemon grass dishes, this place offers a bit more than just the typical American style Chinese fare, it also offers a bit of Thai and Southeast Asian cuisine. The schezuan shrimp is spicy and simple with grilled onion and medium sized sauteed shrimp but worth trying. The lemon grass lo mein is savory and delicious as well. Prices are incredibly competitive. Dinner for two with tip was about $25 and the portions were so large we both had to leave a lot of food behind, (unfortunately our hotel room had no fridge). Why is it so hard to find scallion pancakes? Aren't they super easy to make? Anyways, after a long afternoon of shopping, with a light wallet, my friend and I were looking for a cheap place to eat. She suggested Applebees but I'm the type that doesn't like chain restaurants. It's my last resort. So I passed this tiny little place and right on the Appetizer part of the menu, I saw SCALLION PANCAKES. YES. Score. Went in. The pancakes were good, but you can't really mess them up (except for this one place that put peanut butter in between them. A peanut butter scallion pancake? Are YOU kidding me?!) Anyways, for about $24, we were STUFFED. The pancakes were huge and crispy. I ordered beef and asparagus which were ok. But seriously, they give huge portions here. My part of the bill came out to be $13. But for $13 I got a huge serving of scallion pancake, a soup, shrimp eggroll, and a large large plate of beef and asparagus and fried rice. I was stuffed. (The rice was kind of dry). I ate the scallion pancakes later that night too, after drinking. Not as amazing, but when you're drunk and hungry everything tastes good. read more

My girlfriends love to vege out to Chinese food while watching movies and such, so I have tried my fair share of Americanized Chinese food restaurants in Philly. Anyways, I usually order the Scallion pancakes which are seasoned with some special seasoning (amazing!) and general tso's chicken! it is enough food to feed 2-3 people, or keep me happy for 2-3 meals. The food was fresh, prices reasonable and delivery to Fairmount was fast. I thought the fried rice and the sweet and sour sauce could have used a little more seasoning, but I guess that's better than over seasoned, right? As other reviews have mentioned, the won ton soup was great. Not the best (Americanized) Chinese food I've ever had, but in my experience it's pretty good for Philadelphia. Very solid place. Been here a few times, and most things are pretty good. When it's a Tuesday or Wednesday and you don't feel like spending $20+ at Jane G's or Dan Dan, Mandarin Palace is a pretty good balance between cheap, crappy Chinese places, and the higher end places in the area that are generally overpriced for basic things like General Tso's. Everything tastes fresh and doesn't make me feel sick. The General Tso's chicken and large hot and sour soup for under $18 is a pretty good deal for the area. It's actually one of the better General Tso's I've had. The hot and sour soup is pretty mild. Just a warning, they put mushrooms in the hot and sour soup for some reason (I don't like mushrooms). The food is ready in around 10-15 for pickup. The tangerine beef and sesame chicken are also both pretty good. The only thing I had there that I didn't like was the roast pork noodle soup. I was craving noodle soup and didn't feel like walking to Chinatown. It was pretty mediocre compared to the numerous excellent places in Chinatown. I haven't tried their Thai or Malaysian cuisine, but I imagine it's pretty good too. The bottom line is that this is a good takeout place for quick, fresh, moderately priced, solid Chinese. read more

My boyfriend got the chicken lo mein which was also quite good (I sampled it) and he said his egg roll was good too, which is unusual because most egg rolls around here are pretty average. He also really liked the crispy noodles they included with the order. They neglected to include flatware or the usual sauces with the delivery, but other than that it was a good experience. I just had such a delicious lunch at this place. I was in the mood for sushi and the impulse didn't come until after 2pm when, in my experience, a lot of places for Asian cuisine stop serving.
