The reason for my 3 stars only is because of their sushi and customer service. They should stop making Japanese food and sell only Chinese food. I ordered through Eat24 to be delivered at work and in order to reach their minimum of $15 for delivery I ordered some sushi. $8.75 for a frozen rice, old salmon, like disgusting sushi. Seriously!! But they Chinese food was amazing, I ordered the Kung Pao Three, that comes with beef, chicken, and shrimp, and I loved it. I requested a change from the white rice to their fried rice, which no one ever call me before sending out the order to let me know why they would not send my fried rice, the white rice was ok. I will go back, but only for pick up and Chinese food. :p read more

I ordered two dinner plates, the pineapple fried rice, a large miso soup, and two beverages. I had never been here before and was pleasantly surprised! I called half an hour before they closed and by the time I got there to pick it up it was perfectly warm. The food is really good and the woman who helped take my order was very sweet. Their lunch specials are awesome, but be warned that their Thai tea is in a can and not very good. My favorite home delivered Chinese food in LA! Fast, tasty and consistent! I love their Szechuan chicken and vegetable fried rice, but my new favorite is their Chow Fun noodles. For those who expect their kung pao to taste different than their spicy pepper chicken or any other chicken dish for that matter, keep away because trust me I have tried them all and they all taste the same...yikes! read more

Food had very little flavor. The Vegetable Mushu had no egg in it which is usually the best part. The edamame were severely over cooked. The Bao was dry. The sushi did not taste fresh and the spicy tuna roll was not a typical spicy tuna roll. My daughters beef and broccoli was the only thing that was good...oh and the canned Thai iced tea was also a hit. We will not order from here again. read more

Called 40 mins later to check status and this rude lady picked up. Despite all of the bad reviews, we decided to give it a try anyway, and were very pleasantly surprised at how good it was. Ok, this isn't gourmet food, nor was it the best Chinese food we've ever had. But for decently priced take out, it was definitely above average. We ordered: Assorted Appetizers Seaweed Salad Spicy Garlic Shrimp Steamed Rice Everything was fresh and tasty. The appetizer plate did have some grease, but deep fried food like egg rolls & fried wontons usually do. The ribs & paper chicken were quite good. Seaweed Salad tasted like it should. The Spicy Garlic Shrimp had a generous amount of good sized shrimp, and the sauce was very good. We ordered for delivery at about 8:30pm on a Sat evening, were told it would be 30-40 minutes, and the doorbell rang in 20. The food was hot, and we were also treated to 4 fortune cookies. There were no napkins or utensils (not even chopsticks), but as we were at home, this was not a problem. Would definitely order delivery again. read more

I haven't ever felt the need to vent my frustrations about bad restaurants but this place just defies logic. Bar none, this place is gross. Ordered delivery-- spicy tuna roll had zero flavor. I mean, it wasn't even fishy, it was just completely, indescribably devoid of any/all flavor. How is this fish? It can't be. Inedible. Ate one and threw it out. Next was the shrimp tempura roll. Also didn't taste like anything, and it was drenched in teriyaki sauce...like guys, seriously, the roll was BLACK. The rice didn't even taste like rice...i can't even fathom--- how is that possible? Not trying to be funny here, it just defies logic... Also ordered the kung pao chicken...and...big surprise...didn't taste like anything! I mean, come on guys, gimme some fat, some salt, some MSG, jesus, anything! So it tastes like something! Gave the leftovers to my dog (seriously she eats anything) and she couldn't finish it. Worst customer service. i went in to pick up an order I phoned in. I walked up to the counter and nothing. Guy behind counter making salads. Nothing. Guy comes from the back to talk to guy behind counter. Nothing. He looked at me then used his IPhone to get on Facebook(not kidding). Looked at me again. Nothing. Third guy who was sitting at a table eating, finished his meal said "excuse me" because he needed to get by me to get to the back. Nothing. So, finally I said, "I'm here to pick up a phone order." Only then did the conversation begin. The food is a little oily like lots of chinese food but the taste isn't bad. If you don't care at all about customer service and if you don't mind being in a place that is a little too unclean to sit in, then check it out. possibly the worst chinese food i've had in Los Angeles. Cold by the time it was delivered. Tasted like CRAP. Hot and Sour soup was neither Hot nor Sour. We've never eaten at the restaurant, only ordered. I found it easier to order online through Yelp than calling on the phone. We've ordered about 10 times already and their delivery service has been great 9 out of the 10 times. Our favorites are the Crispy Walnut Shrimp, Mongolian Beef, Young Chow Fried Rice, Shrimp Tempura and Vegetable Egg Rolls. I know there are a ton of bad reviews of this place on here, but I just have to disagree. Granted I have never dined in the restaurant, but I have been getting take out from them on a regular basis, and I have not had one bad meal. I only get the chinese side of the menu, so I can't speak for their sushi. Coming from the east coast, I am very particular about my chinese food...especially won ton soup. I have been searching all of southern california for 8 years and have been unsuccessful in finding anything remotely akin to the won ton soup I am used to, until I discovered Mandarin! It is the closest thing I have found to east coast won ton soup out here! I have been eating it almost every day. I have a problem...I need a twelve step program....I just can't get enough of this soup! It is perfect...not too doughy, no ginger in the pork inside of the won ton....it's just delicious. I've tried some lunch specials, and all have been good, and cheap. Their fried won tons are also delicious, and their bbq pork fried rice, while it is very greasy, is still delicious. Even when my gig ends over on this side of town, I am positive I will still be frequenting Mandarin for sure! read more

I just finished one of the best Chinese meals I have had in years! I grew up in a neighborhood with all Chinese people, Monterey Park and I can honestly say its like a home cooked meal by one of my friend's mom. I did the delivery service and it came to my door 25 minutes later steaming hot! I have never had any delivery come to my door that hot. Amazing. The food was fresh and tasty and not greasy at all. I ordered from their menu, but the man who took the order rushed me so much that I had to call back three times to make sure it was right. Okay, Christmas night...what's open? Chinese of course. The kids wanted Chinese but the grown ups were craving Sushi...well I guess sushi might be open but, something tells me not. But wait! So we look through our delivery menus and found this place. Lo and behold the ultimate combo Chinese and Sushi. Ya, I know, reminiscent of those Chinese and Donuts shops, right? Okay...we were desperate. So we spun the Roulette wheel and the food was reasonably priced and came nice and warm...the Chinese anyway. Well, I have to say the Orange Chicken was delicious and tender with big chunks. The ribs were actually tasty with the sauce but, pretty dry. We also ordered from the Sushi dept: Rainbow Roll and spicy tuna roll. The Sashimi was little dry and not as moist as it should be but, seemed fresh. All in all it tasted okay and satisfied our craving. So the next time you have a hankering for Sushi and Chinese - this is the place. See you next Christmas. :) read more

This hole in the wall is always full of Chinese eating from a separate menu. It's relatively authentic in its spotty service & lack of awesome costumer service too. The prices are decent and while I have not tried the whole menu, my friends and I have never had a bad experience. Expect a notch above the usual inexpensive thai/Chinese delivery and there will be no surprises. Often the quality is on par with the much pricier Wokcano. I often order the steamed options and custom order a salmon/cucumber roll which is always good. The usual noodle or chicken dishes and appetizers have always been fine as well. Sometimes the delivery arrives in 15-20 min and sometimes 1 hour plus. 30 minutes late is an inconvenience especially with no offer of a free egg roll or some such happy making platitude. On the other hand when they arrive 20 min early and I'm not home yet, they guy waits without being a nutcase about it. Tip your drivers; they work for hard and for tips and this isn't a high earning job for them. The guy who was underwhelmed that the delivery had simply parked omits the rest of the sequence of events that results in the food arriving! read more

I ordered shrimp fried rice, with no vegetables. I watched as the guy scooped up rice in a take out container, went in the kitchen, came back, presto my rice was ready. Took my rice home and found it was white, steamed rice, added soy sauce and some shrimp on top. That wasn't bad enough, I called to complain that it was not fried rice, and after I had to explain 3 x's why I was calling, he said sorry and hung up on me. Horrible. Just horrible. I ordered food for delivery and they took 1:20 to arrive. I was staying 5 blocks from the place. Called 3 times to ask and they kept saying 10 minutes. The food was mediocre at best. Ordered potstickers. They were fine. Wor wonton soup. Zero flavor. Kung Pao chicken. It was chopped up celery and whole peanuts smothered in some grocery store "ethnic" sauce. The chicken was ok, I guess. But the whole thing together was so bad. Don't order from here. Just don't. Chinese food is not the most difficult or scrutinized cuisine but at the very least it should be edible. Tonight's order consisted of General Taos chicken, lo mein and egg flower soup. The generals chicken was a soggy bland mess with the attempt to season with large amounts of red pepper. Panda Express could make better generals chicken if only it was on the menu. The lo mein was bland pre-made processed garbage. To conclude the egg flower soup was more closely resemblant of boiling hot water with rotten egg whites. Do yourself a favor and order from another restaurant or cook the Chinese food yourself. read more
