Recently ate here and was disappointed with the overall experience compared to previous visits. The food was good, although definitely overpriced for the amount of food you get to eat. Also, apparently there is no longer complimentary bread and it now costs $4, which I've never had to pay for at any other restaurant. The sodas are surprisingly small and you only get one free refill before being charged as well. Service was subpar and was just an overall unsatisfying dinner. I don't expect to eat here again in the future unless some changes ate made as the food doesn't outweigh the prices and underwhelming service with so many other quality offerings in the area. read more

Food was good. Don't take big parties they won't split your check, in which case if it was my family I completely understand, but it was all coworkers and what a hassle it turned out to be. I then said I won't be returning to which the waitress responded "oh well"! Really that's how you feel about your customers. I'd like to speak to you manager to which the waitress never brought out. Therefore whenever we go to lunch I will never return. I can not believe how the waitress spoke to me! On another note there are apps out there to send money to each other which would could of done if everyone was in agreement. But I work with a variety of people. Portions have improved Finally(!) for the price. But the food is marginal. If you don't ask for pasta, they give you over cooked potatoes and a few carrots and green beans which are pretty much the cheapest vegetables one could sell. Pasta is cheaper than over cooked potatoes. But the prices for these dishes are way up there. My family likes a few of the entrées so they continue to buy from them occasionally but, from my perspective, it's not worth the money. read more

I had to try their pizza after someone declared it the best pizza in Frederick on the message board (so my expectations may have been a little high to begin with). My brother raves about this place but I don't know, it was ok. It's nice to sit outside on a nice night and drink a glass of wine and dine on some good italian food. I had the pasta with the sausage and sun dried tomatoes. The tomatoes were super salty which was kinda a turnoff but the rest of the dish tasted fine. When we dropped into a neighborhood Italian restaurant one cold winter afternoon, we were expecting to feel the hospitality of a warm, sunny Italian cafe and got the chill of an unhappy employee. We were not really welcomed, but she sat us at a table and left...nothing said. We sat there for about 5 to 10 minutes, chose our entrees and then waited to give our order. I finally got up and said, "we are ready". The rest of our meal was very uncomfortable. Not a word. No checking back on us, just complete disregard. This was probably the worst restaurant experience we had had in a long time, even considering all of the pandemic woes. I found out later through another employee that the person waiting on us was the manager! I really hope they have addressed her problems because she may run off more customers than just us. I seriously doubt we will return. There are so many other places that really want your business. The food was pretty good but a little overpriced for what we got. read more

We have been going here since before Covid. What a disappointment . Went with family expecting a great dinner. It was NOT! Prices have gone up way more than expected and food quantity and quality have gone done. Now they charge 4.00 for a small basket of bread that used to be included with dinners. My Grandson order Ravioli. Price was out of line and there were only 5 small raviolis, Disgraceful. The other meals were less than satisfactory for taste or quantity. So this was our last time there. So excited that I got introduced to this gem. Our first visit was with a group of 6 adults and 4 kids. Everyone really enjoyed their meals and the service was great. Visited again with a smaller group and again, the food was delicious and service was great. Both times we started with the garlic bread which is super yummy. Both times I got the salmon dish and subbed out the potatoes for pasta (I mean its an Italian restaurant-gotta have pasta). I also got a side of spinach which was some of the best spinach I've had. Kids love the pizza and hubby enjoyed his rigatoni and sausage meal. Sister got tortellini with a bolognese sauce that melted in your mouth. My only small complaint was that we asked for sangria which wasn't on the menu and they were $12 each Would have just gotten a a glass of wine. The atmosphere is cute, cozy and rustic. Its big enough that both times we went it didn't feel crowded. And like I said...the service is always great! Any time I crave Italian this is where I'll be going! read more

If I could give 3.5 stars I would. My husband and I dined here on my birthday in April. It was a Monday night so not busy, we were seated right away. I will say it took a bit longer that I think necessary for our orders to get taken. The food was tasty and there were suffici vegetarian options for me and my husband to choose from. I ordered rice balls appetizer. For my entree I had the pistachio ravioli which was covered in a cream sauce. Not too creamy or overpowering. My husband ordered his usual fav the eggplant parm, which did not disappoint either. It's hard to mess up egpplant parm. The staff was friendly and courteous. I'll definitely be back since it's one of the only Italian restaurants in the area that I've noticed. Hoping to to give more stars next time. read more

Restaurant is cute with what appears to be a nice outdoor patio so definitely has the potential to be great; however, it's incredibly overpriced for what you get. No complimentary bread (you can opt to pay $4 for a basket of bread), no side with your entree, only 1 refill on soda - seems they are nickel-and-diming. The Spaghetti Del Nonna was $15.99 and the Chicken Parm was $22.99, both were mediocre at best. Also noteworthy, after placing the order, the food arrived at our table within 5 minutes (how is that possible?). All in all, a disappointing experience. read more

This place has a surprisingly great location, though you wouldn't know it by looking at a map. Though it's in a strip mall location, it's an end unit, tucked back away from the road, so it's quiet and has a cozy and welcoming feel both indoor and out. Their menu provides a wide array of options, which was a pleasant surprise, though it doesn't stray far from classic Italian dishes like chicken Parmesan and various pastas. They do run monthly specials with more unique and memorable offerings, though I didn't actually order them at my visit. We stuck with pretty traditional dishes: eggplant Parmesan, salads, and a chicken entree wrapped in prosciutto and cheese. I don't think any of us were wowed, but we went home full and satisfied. Their service staff was pretty great. They were likely over-staffed from a business perspective, but, as a patron, I was happy to be well attended to, with prompt service and a friendly face from start to finish (hostess, server, and food runner). The business and staff did a great job of creating a light and relaxed atmosphere, which our group really appreciated. For that reason alone, I'll likely be back. read more

Came here on a whim on the way home from DC after taking an exit to get gas. Since it was dinnertime, we decided to try this Italian place in this cute little shopping center. I didn't have any expectations, but as soon as we walked in, the atmosphere was so cozy and the place was decorated in the cutest and best Halloween/fall decor!! It's been a while since I've been to a restaurant that made me want to go back during this season (of fall) just because of the fall atmosphere, without even trying the food yet..that's huge!! We ordered pizza and penne al la vodka. The pizza was very good, very cheesy and the dough is made in house daily! The penne al la vodka was good too, not the very best I've had but still good. We came at a quiet time on a rainy Saturday afternoon. We just went to Italy a few months ago so I guess our taste buds were expecting more. The restaurant has a nice atmosphere and a rustic feel, but the food was lacking in flavour. I ordered the minestrone and my boyfriend got the mangia e bevi pizza. I was very hungry and the soup did it's job, but it was very salty and looked as if it came out of a can. The vegetable cuts were perfect though on the pizza and in the soup. The pizza was filling, but lacking in flavour and bland and uninspiring. It just needed something else! A millennial-age server dumped water on my daughter's boyfriend' back at lunch for a very special event and it took back 'staff' to have him come back out and apologize. Stopped in for a Friday night dinner with my wife. We started with the calamari which was under seasoned and mostly flavorless. For dinner, I had the Penne Vodka and she had the Chicken Parmigiana. Our offices are about to move to the Urbana area, so we scoped the area out today for restaurants. We settled on Mangia e Bevi, and we're so glad we did. They greeted us warmly and seated the 7 of us quickly. For appetizers, we had garlic bread (so fluffy and warm!), calalmari (perfectly cooked, well seasoned, with a slightly spicy sauce), and the Porcini croquettes. I really loved the croquettes--they gave of an awesome fresh porcini aroma when broken open, and the rice filling was creamy and smooth, almost like a risotto. It was delicious. Everyone on the team ordered something different, and everyone enjoyed their entrees. I had the chicken al limone, and it was heavenly. The chicken was thin and moist, and the sauce was a tasty blend of lemon, artichoke and capers. Some places will make al limone so lemony that it's nearly a parody of itself. Thankfully, that wasn't the case here--the sauce was pretty much perfect. I'll be eating here again and again once our offices make the move. read more

I was hoping for some true Italian dishes that I can't get elsewhere, like gnocci or a real carbornara. But it was not to be. The atmosphere was good,and so was the service. We had quite a few vegetarians in our group and they all found something the liked. This is a good surprise. I think, because the atmosphere is good and the name is smart I was expecting it to be a more upscale offering, but it is actually a really good pizza and sandwich place. We decided to try Mangia e Bevi the other night based on all these positive reviews on Yelp. Big mistake.. Most of you must have just ordered the pizza. I ordered the flatbread for an appetizer- bland. Hubby ordered the stuffed green pepper- mushy, no flavor. Main meal: I ordered the Alfredo and had them add some grilled shrimp. Absolutely NO flavor..NO seasoning. I was so disappointed. My husband ordered the Veal Parma- substandard veal and we've tasted better sauce in a jar. They do not let their tomato sauce develop, which takes hours and you can tell. You know you're in a "Americanized" Italian restaurant when they give you a shake bottle of parmesan cheese. It didn't even smell like parmesan cheese. The $$$ of this meal does not justify going back for substandard Italian food. Maybe they should just stick to pizza. PS: Bring a pillow from home to sit on if you decide to eat in. Chairs are wooden and very uncomfortable. read more

The do go out of there way to make sure you're happy, for when we went up to the counter before leaving to see if they had mints we were greeted by the owner who insisted on bringing us up some from the kitchen! They kindly replaced the sauce for me. It was delicious. They seemed handmade. We also had the caprese salad which was very fresh. My date had the rockfish. Very good. I wanted to really like this place because it is close and I love good Italian--but after eating there three times I have decided I will only go back for pizza and dessert--both of which they do very well. I was disappointed with every entree and appetizer that we ordered (group of 4-6 people each time we went and I had a taste of everything that each person ordered--food was bland, bland, bland and veggies always, always over cooked.). The prices are really quite high for their entrees (average 15-25 dollars), this made me even more disappointed. All 3 stars I gave are for the pizza which I would give a 4 to 4.5 out of 5---very good crust, good sauce and good cheese. Reasonably priced as well. And the desserts which were all great. The pumpkin cheesecake was AMAZING!!! Have gone back twice now just for pizza and pumpkin cheesecake :) If I could give 5 stars for only that combo I would do so! read more

After wanting to try this place for a year but never thinking about restaurants in Urbana when we're making dinner plans, we have now ended up eating here the past 2 Saturday evenings! We liked it so much 2 weeks ago, that we came back with 2 other couples the next weekend and all 6 of us really enjoyed our dinner and are planning to return. We were all in agreement that the bread was amazing - definitely some of the best bread that I have ever had in a restaurant! Some of the favorite entrees at the table were the Rigatoni can Salsiccia with Italian Sausage, Mushrooms, and Sun-dried tomatoes & the Chicken Saltimbocca with prosciutto (not on the online menu as they have added some delicious looking items that haven't been updated online yet). I ended my dinner with a delicious cappuccino that capped off a great meal! The service was a little slow, as their outdoor dining section was open that night, so the servers might have been a little swamped, but as long as they kept the bread coming, we were happy! They used to be better, but I fear they are sliding downward. The appetizer ordered was never brought out and staff didn't come near the table so we could let them know. The entree was ok, but that might be because it was drowned in butter. I was offered the appetizer after my entree, at no charge, but I requested a dessert instead--which wasn't free. Finally, I asked for the tiramisu, but they said they were all out. We hung out for another 10-15 minutes with a coffee, just long enough to see the table next to us get a tiramisu. I would give this restaurant the equivalent of a C plus. We ate here this afternoon for the first time. We rarely head to Urbana but ended up here on the way home from Frederick. On the plus side, the service was excellent and the Calamari, which I don't eat, was close to perfect according to my husband. As to the negatives, well first I found the prices quite high. And since when do you have to pay extra for bread in an Italian restaurant? In addition, my side salad was drenched in dressing that I swear came out of a bottle. My husband's pesto serving was small and my "crab" appetizer was salty, weird, and not very tasty. Our servers were great; they kept refilling our drinks. I doubt we will be in Urbana again anytime soon but either way, I wish the food had been better. The restaurant is cute and I was expecting more. The only restaurant worth eating at in Urbana. I would highly recommend this place if you like a solid New York style pizza. The pasta dishes and salads are ok, but over priced and nothing that will wow you. I love this spot to go with family and drink wine. They have a great wine selection.
