Went here after it popped up as one of the best places to grab a sandwich! Lunch crowd gets pretty busy. They ask if you want hard or soft bread (there's a difference!) so I went with hard bc yeah never been asked that. I could barely like chew the hard break. 4/10 for me on the bread for sure. Idk if it was like too hard or idk stale but like obv sandwich ruined. I'll have to go back and try the soft bread. Wish they had a bit more toppings. Got a turkey sandwich and may have to run the visit back.

I thought this sandwich was fine. Ordered over the phone for pick up. It was ready pretty quickly. I think the prices are good for what you're getting. I did feel like the added way more onions then I would've liked and they also went a little heavy on the oil and vinegar which made my bread a little soggy. But all and all it gets the job done and the bread tasted fresh.

Someone recommended this sub shop, I didn't actually go in , I pulled up while someone went inside. I got the Italian sub with lettuce, mayo , tomato and onions. I also wanted vinegar and oil. The person forgot to add the vinegar and oil when placing the order and it made a difference on my sandwich. The bread and meat was fresh it was decent I just couldn't get the hype probably because it didn't have the vinegar and oil s d it was too much mayonnaise on my sandwich. I do want to go back and order the sandwich myself.....to be continued.......

Not a good experience at Mangialardo. While I do like a cold cut with with bread that absorbs the oil and vinegar, this one leaned on the soggy side and I do not know why because I didn't get much oil and vinegar taste. I was disappointed in the fact I ordered and paid for extra meat which I did not receive. I also received the some of the core of the lettuce which was hard and old. Overall, an experience which left me wanting more. I might give them another try if in the area.

Tried Mangialardo for the first time on 3/31/26 as a recommendation from a friend ...ordered the G man on a soft roll (Ham, salami, mortadella, pepperoni, fontina cheese, provolone cheese, oregano) - it was absolutely delicious- just the right amount of seasoning, meat proportion & toppings. Service was quick and friendly....Sub was good for two meals . I will definitely return

It took me 39 years to try this place. You really have to pay attention to their hours. What i love is when you walk in you can smell the fresh rolls. They have soft rolls and hard. I opted for soft turkey sub. Nothing spicy, just plain. I absolutely loved how simple it was. I think i was most excited about how soft the bread was. It's a very basic sandwich but that's exactly what I was looking for. The sub was about 13 bucks and to me it was worth every penny. I personally would love this with jalapeño chips inside.

Mangialardo has some of the best subs in DC. This is a staple. I haven't been here since the pandemic. My go to sub is the turkey and cheese on a soft roll. And baby it's fire. The price for the subs is great and you get a lot for your money. The service is always top tier. You can go right in order and be out before you get ticketed for being double parked . I ran in yesterday because I had went to work late and wanted a sub sooo bad. Was afraid I wasn't going to be able to make it but I did. It's always been clean here. The art work and the badges of fire departments, police stations and more is nice too. Check them out if you haven't.

I had this place bookmarked for years and finally got a chance to try it today. Man, was I underwhelmed! I ordered "the big g" and it was just not good. The meat looked like it was purchased from the refrigerated cold cuts section from Safeway a la Oscar Meyers pre-sliced meats. The soft roll was awful as was the choice to include fontina cheese. Also, instead of shredded lettuce, there was just a huge piece of iceberg. This sandwich literally tasted like one I could make at home-- the je ne sais quoi that makes a good Italian sub as delicious as it is was absolutely missing. Let down!

Is there a park nearby with picnic tables or some other place where we could eat the subs? With Litteri's subs we take them to the Arboretum, but that's a haul from Mangialardo's. Thanks

Lincoln Park doesn't have picnic tables but does have benches and lots of grass to spread out a blanket

Paccis looks like a small family owned Jersey Italian spot tucked inside a classic Capitol Hill brick home so of course you gotta try it. You and your girlfriend sit down and immediately the couple in the corner seated next to you pipes up about good timing because you just missed the sunset glaring through the window. This fella keeps flapping his jaw the whole time. Even to the elderly couple cross the room. Ok so maybe I was part of the problem but whatever. Anyway it feels like home. They eat there all the time, so that's a good sign. Good people. Which is good because the food is good too and You don't want bad ambiance to detract from a great meal. Oh and did I mention the couple who sat next to us after that were speaking Italian and sharing pizza and pasta? Paccis is certified FOOD: So oh yeah they serve food here too right. Let's talk about it. Me and the girlfriend love to share everything because why come to a delicious restaurant and only try one dish? Fuggedaboutit! We're sampling over here. She starts with a Hugo spritz that apparently is a "girliepop fave" which I might deserve jail time for typing those words but whatever sue me she liked the drink ok? Antipasti: We tried the eggplant fritti which was delicious. Also shared the beet salad. Also delicious. But I will say that we eat a lot of arugula salads and dry arugula even with all the toppings can be a little rough and I'd love if it was lubed up with a tiny bit of olive oil. Anyway don't hesitate to try either of these. Entrees: Buccatini alla carbonara was awesome. Creamy/cheesy, nice bite through the pasta, and that cured meat or whatever it was. We also had the chicken Marsala which was delicious but if you don't already know, don't ask how it's made so delicious because it's basically all butter and cream. Anyway pasta and sauce and chicken we're all delicious. Desert: Especially in an Italian restaurant this is almost always an automatic tiramisu for me but this time we decided to go with something different. The girlfriend loves a lemony dessert so we tried the limoncello cake. She loved it and I liked it. I would say get it if you're a lemon fan. And bada boom bada bing that's your review. Highly recommend!

This restaurant…read morewas recommended to me by a colleague so I decided to make the walk from where I am currently staying. Let me start by saying that the atmosphere in this restaurant is one that is so welcoming the minute you arrive. I approached the hostess stand to inquire if there was bar seating available to which the polite hostesses provided a gentle hand gesture and oral direction to the bar. While walking to the bar area, I encountered what I presume to have been a server who was likely standing watch from a distance over his service area, who apologized as our paths met. (There was no reason to apologize, very polite nonetheless) I found a seat at the bar and was greeted by Paul. Paul was an exceptionally pleasant and answered all my immediate questions while preparing my initial cocktail during happy hour. We discussed the menu and he provided great insight which helped finalize my decision for the evening . In the meantime, bar manager Laura stopped by to ensure that I was taken care of to which I informed her that Paul and I spoke and he is making a beverage for me. For the food...the Caesar Salad is #1. I am a food snob and this salad HITS!! While enjoying my salad I inquired about their cast bourbon selection. The staff was very knowledgeable and provided a price list to coincide with their higher end selections. My 40 layer lasagna arrived some time in the midst of the conversation where Paul extended a courtesy sampling of a wine that he recommended that pairs nicely with my meal. It was perfect. I closed out my meal with an espresso type martini, at which time Paul and Laura further extended and offered me a sampling of one of the bourbons I was looking at. I cannot say enough about this establishment. I can't wait to go back and have already recommended via phone conversations to three people and I just left. The evening and encounter was more than just pleasantries with a customer, rather I felt as if I was the only one. If the owner or manager is reading this, Paul and Laura are 10+ and I will be back. Thank you so much for the best meal I have had in DC over the last 2 weeks. Can't wait to do it again!!!

Not saying that dining companions are distracting, but I felt like I could fully experience the flavor of both the Taglioni Neri and Gnocchi, both half portions at $10 each, better on my own. When the dishes came, I saw that the sauces were both red and feared they would taste too similar. After one fork full of each, they are quite clearly distinct. The standout in the Neri were the shellfish for me. Even though they were small bits, the pieces tasted fresh. In the Gnocchi, the saltiness of the prosciutto, though not overwhelming, paired well with the basil sauce. I finished a little more than half of each plate before boxing it up for a small lunch the next day. The service was great and the tall ceiling and windowed dining room provided a nice atmosphere. It was a cloudy and rainy Memorial Day, but I wondered what the sunlight looked like shining through those high windows. How lovely a space they have created to enjoy fine Italian dining in.
