Mangoes was our first place to hang out on Duval Street and the place was not that busy on a Saturday afternoon at around 1 pm. They have a beautiful outdoor space/patio which is where we hung out. They also have a wonderful bar equipped with 2 TVs to watch sports. The staff here is very welcoming and friendly and Juan, Theo, and Martina took really good care of us while we were here 2 days in a row. We didn't try much of their food, but they have some really good food menu options as well. We did however try 1 of their starters which was a very delicious Chorizo Empanadas ($13). The Cumin Lime Crema was very tasty! More importantly their cocktails and ice cold draught beer was very refreshing to enjoy on the 2 really hot and humid days that we were on Duval St. They also have a fun "Hook-me" game by the tree in their patio which is a lot of fun! My 2 year old enjoyed spinning that one and there was enough space in the patio for him to run around. We stopped here for a quick drink and appetizer as well as watch the wrap up of The Masters at the bar. The bartenders were all great and the area was so beautiful. There was also some great music...not too loud and perfect songs. We tried the cauliflower hummus appetizer and it was wonderful...the grapes make it! We came to Mangoe's since it was so highly recommended. We decided to start with the Tajik roasted cauliflower. It was lovely. I had never thought of serving red grapes with hummus and roasted cauliflower. My husband even enjoyed the roasted cauliflower and he doesn't like cauliflower. For the main course we ordered the Torigashi tuna steak, pan seared rare, and the braised short ribs. The blackening on the tuna steak allowed the flavorings to come through perfectly. The braised ribs fell apart as my hand was eating them and he thoroughly enjoyed the broccolini. The food was food. Service was good but it felt a bit rushed. Stopped here during a food tour in Key West and it definitely has a cool vibe. Large patio area that is perfect for brunch or dinner. During the food tour we had the conch fritters which were like fish hush puppies. So good! Not sure exactly what the dipping sauce was but it was also good. Fritters underdone Service painfully slow Long I've never been to key West before but we visited in August and happened upon mangoes where we were able to get our relatively large party sat. Well I realized and appreciate due to covid low amount of servers blah blah blah when you have a large party it would behoove you as a server to pay attention to your table. I about did calisthenics trying to get somebody's attention so I could get a drink as the rest of our table was ready to murder somebody just sitting there for 15 minutes. Now generally when people sit down and you ask them for their drinks you can also ask them they're interested in possibly getting an appetizer as people are normally starving to death would like something to nosh on while they're going over the menu. So one of the first things we got were conch fritters. Our service was painfully slow as was the delivery of our food. When the concert is finally came out they were underdone to the point they were doughy still on the inside. Keep in mind operating a fryer isn't rocket science but apparently they had the rookie man the fryer today. If you are 40 minutes into your service and your batting zero for four there's a good probability that the meal isn't going to be much better. I hate being right on things like this however for what seem to be a high and restaurant on the stripping key West the food was no better than Applebee's. Now our server, realizing the errors of his ways, attempted a recovery towards the end of the meal all of a sudden remembering that customers that get good service will tip accordingly unfortunately for this fellow who spent more time flirting with a couple of the fellas at the bar then serving us, his tip was appropriately adjusted for his inattention and lack of service. What an awesome place. We got into town at 10pm on a Sunday night and went out looking for a late dinner. The friendly hostess greeted us and sat us down right away even though the place was hopping. We were very happy to get our hummus plate and conch fritters at this late hour, and they were tasty. The real selling point was the wild dancing by some of the patrons and the live music. The crab cakes are not good(lots of breading and I couldn't taste any crab meat at all. I had the Cesar salad with lobster. One 1/2 of the lobster tail had a really good flavor. However, the other side was very bland. The salad had a tart taste. My kid ordered the shrimp scampi . The shrimp were gross, and the entire plate was bland and oiley. My other kid ordered the jerk chicken. I like the jerk flavoring on top of the chicken. The chicken itself was very bland. The jerk seasoning could not save it. The server was nice, and the overall atmosphere is cool. The manager came to our table soon as the food came out to see if we're enjoying our meal. But we had not started eating. Of course, she never came back. I think she was strategic with that, lol. Overall, the bill was over $200, and if I was paying for the initial presentation, well, I guess I got my money's worth. Mangoes is right on Duval street and has a massive patio that is perfect for brunch, lunch, or just cocktails! Our service was great and the food was even better. We came here to celebrate while in Key West and I would recommend it if you're looking for a more upscale place to eat. The services in KW is usually on the poorer side; however, Mangoes was the only restaurant we ate at that had good service! We ordered wine, Champaign and several appetizers before our entrée. I highly recommend the restaurant if you want to sit for a while and slow eat apps and have some good cocktails or wine. There was live music playing, but soft enough you could make good conversation and have even better people watching (requested a seat by the road/Duvall). Here's a rundown: Conch Fritters - good, but not the best on the island. Chorizo Empanadas - good, small, not what I was hoping for. A bit overcooked. Pork Belly - Out of this world amazing - we ordered 2! Porkbelly was super flavorful and enough to share with 2 people. Tostones and Crispy Pulled Mojo Pork - Outstanding! Great flavor. Taco Salad - Came in a crispy chip bowl. What you would expect for a taco salad and good. Paella - Left us dissapointed. Not the most flavorful and very brothy. Flavors didn't blend well together and there wasn't enough seasoning. Ahi Tuna - You could tell it went from frozen to cooked very quickly. The tuna was a weird shape (probably from being frozen) and the overall texture was really strange. The Ahi was overcooked (asked for med rare) and was flavorless. I would strongly recommend not getting this dish. Braised Beef - This one was a hit! The mushrooms were super tasty and the beef was tender and fell apart. The fries were among some of the best I've had, super crispy outside, hot, and soft on the inside. The Baja fish tacos and the soup were decent. They did the job but nothing crazy spectacular. The cheesecake in my opinion wasn't the best. As a huge cheesecake connoisseur, this was more sour than anything which brought down the rating (it's cheeseCAKE supposed to be sweet) The vibes in the restaurant were good and the price was okay. It's a tourist attraction after all. So considering the tourist inflation fee, it's about average. Service however was on the lower side.
