What an awesome place. We got into town at 10pm on a Sunday night and went out looking for a late dinner. The friendly hostess greeted us and sat us down right away even though the place was hopping. We were very happy to get our hummus plate and conch fritters at this late hour, and they were tasty. The real selling point was the wild dancing by some of the patrons and the live music. Chose this place because it had indoor seating...not a lot of places in Key West do and it was a super hot day in June. Service was good. Ok, let me start by saying the food was presented very well on each plate. We ordered the jerk chicked, Ceasars salad with lobster, shrimp scampi, two orders of "crab" cakes, and the Conch Fritters. I'll start by saying i had to brush my teeth immediately after this dining experience!!!! Everything was very underflavored!! The crab cakes are not good(lots of breading and I couldn't taste any crab meat at all. I had the Cesar salad with lobster. One 1/2 of the lobster tail had a really good flavor. However, the other side was very bland. The salad had a tart taste. My kid ordered the shrimp scampi . The shrimp were gross, and the entire plate was bland and oiley. My other kid ordered the jerk chicken. I like the jerk flavoring on top of the chicken. The chicken itself was very bland. The jerk seasoning could not save it. The server was nice, and the overall atmosphere is cool. The manager came to our table soon as the food came out to see if we're enjoying our meal. But we had not started eating. Of course, she never came back. I think she was strategic with that, lol. Overall, the bill was over $200, and if I was paying for the initial presentation, well, I guess I got my money's worth. We came here to celebrate while in Key West and I would recommend it if you're looking for a more upscale place to eat. The services in KW is usually on the poorer side; however, Mangoes was the only restaurant we ate at that had good service! We ordered wine, Champaign and several appetizers before our entrée. I highly recommend the restaurant if you want to sit for a while and slow eat apps and have some good cocktails or wine. There was live music playing, but soft enough you could make good conversation and have even better people watching (requested a seat by the road/Duvall). Here's a rundown: Conch Fritters - good, but not the best on the island. Chorizo Empanadas - good, small, not what I was hoping for. A bit overcooked. Pork Belly - Out of this world amazing - we ordered 2! Porkbelly was super flavorful and enough to share with 2 people. Tostones and Crispy Pulled Mojo Pork - Outstanding! Great flavor. Taco Salad - Came in a crispy chip bowl. What you would expect for a taco salad and good. Paella - Left us dissapointed. Not the most flavorful and very brothy. Flavors didn't blend well together and there wasn't enough seasoning. Ahi Tuna - You could tell it went from frozen to cooked very quickly. The tuna was a weird shape (probably from being frozen) and the overall texture was really strange. The Ahi was overcooked (asked for med rare) and was flavorless. I would strongly recommend not getting this dish. Braised Beef - This one was a hit! The mushrooms were super tasty and the beef was tender and fell apart. The cheesecake in my opinion wasn't the best. As a huge cheesecake connoisseur, this was more sour than anything which brought down the rating (it's cheeseCAKE supposed to be sweet) The vibes in the restaurant were good and the price was okay. It's a tourist attraction after all. So considering the tourist inflation fee, it's about average. Service however was on the lower side. All 4 of us ordered the lobster salad roll - special of the day. I think they had enough to make 2 sandwiches, 2 of the sandwiches had almost no lobster in them. This place is cute! I came here with a friend and there's the option of sitting inside or outside. We chose to be outdoors because it wasn't too hot and we were surrounded by beautiful green scenery toward the back (toward the restroom area). Came here this evening for dinner after a snorkeling excursion. Was intrigued by the key west loaded pineapple. Was looking forward to it but it's really not worth $29 (with pineapple). The chicken was lukewarm and overall just didn't have a lot of flavor. Has the potential to be a really good dish...but again needs more flavor. My friend got the mojito which was watered down. He got the house salad with chicken. It was dry but the chicken was perfectly cooked. Had to flag down the waitress for more dressing. We popped into Mangoes for a quick lunch while walking Duval street, as I imagine most customers do. We had exceptional service, delicious food, and heavily enjoyed the atmosphere. Our inside table was a refreshing break from the heat outside, and the patio/garden areas were great scenery with crawling vines and string lights hung. My fish tacos were incredible, each ingredient was represented very well and made for a memorable dish. They had fresh bouquets of roses everywhere which only added to the experience. The good: Great venue. Appetizers were terrific. Drinks were good. The bad: Service was delinquent. It took an hour and a half for my food to come out. I could wait, but my young children started getting antsy at the 45 minute mark. I was so annoyed at the delay, that I can't even remember anything about the main course. I did order appetizers, and those came out promptly. The waitress then forgot to submit my order afterwards and when she did, I was behind a large table. Of the five tables around me, four ordered, got there food, paid and left before I got my food. The order debacle was a mistake that the waitress admitted, but other than the admission, nothing was done to make amends. The service staff needs to advocate for their tables or at least attempt to. I can't quite recommend this place because of the food delinquency. I feel bad because the wait staff was trying, but not trying enough. read more

Just had lunch here with my husband during a rainy day in Key West. Delicious Conch Chowder which is tomato based rather than cream based. Also had yummy Key Lime Pie which I'd never had before. This is an upscale place with entrees in the upper 20's and 30's, but they also have very filling-sized apps and $5 speciality drinks. We LOVE this place and come here most years. This year we each had the quesadilla app. One chicken, one steak. Each was now 5 good-sized tasty, mouth-watering slices. We especially loved the mushrooms. The shrimp bisque was perfect! We thought we should try a new place instead of going to the same ones we always do. This was our 3rd choice because we could not get reservations at our top 2. We sat outside, and when I picked a seat in front of the fan, the host recommended we move further back because it was too much air and we appreciated that. There is plenty of outside seating and air conditioning inside if you want it. Jameson was our server and he was knowledgeable and friendly. I ordered the Mangorita which was perfect. We were disappointed they did not have grouper so we both ordered the blackened cobia. We started with the pork belly appetizer with soy sauce, pineapple, and kimchi slaw which was delicious. The cobia was large and cooked perfectly. It was supposed to have a shrimp and potato hash but it only had basic potatoes and asparagus. Our first food stop in Key West. They were selected because they looked clearn, busy and also had an air conditioned dining room avaialable. All things considered, the food was pretty average and un-remarkable. I had their smash burger which was done to perfection and had the optimal balance of toppings. My wife had a caesar salad with white fish(my guess is grouper). My wife said it was good and it looked decent. Just sort of average. Nothing beyond what was ordered. The server checked back on us a time or two but I'd really say that the atmosphere was decent, the food was ok but the best thing was the air conditioned patio. read more
