Date of visit: July 15, 2025 A friend read that they were doing salsa dancing lessons and wanted to go watch so we walked here from our hotel near Canada Place and I appreciated getting to see a little Vancouver that was not seaplanes and high rises. Unfortunately staff was not very friendly. The woman at the front counter that asked for IDs could not have looked any less interested and waved us in dismissively as though it was inconceivable that we would think she is a hostess. Staff inside was marginally better, though the decor inside is quite nice and we enjoyed the food we had. My husband found the wings to be amazing, and I enjoyed my quesadilla, though it was definitely spicier than I am used to! The salsa dancing was interesting, though I think they went a bit too fast for many of the couples so I am glad that I did not participate! read more

The booking service was terrible she told us 12 people for table service of $300 then we Got Overcharged at the door. The table service took more than 30mins to bring us drinks considering they knew it was a birthday party. Horrible service and they didn't listen to what we wanted and we had to remind them. Whoever owns this establishment need to retrain the employeees and professionalism cause they clearly don't know how to do there jobs correctly. This place has barely any fans going and no AC it's not worth the price we paid or anyone else in the future pays. I was invited to go here for a birthday dinner and was very underwhelmed by the food. The pico and chips had zero flavor and didn't have the fresh tomatoes flavor that is expected with pico de gallo. The chips were a bit stale and lacked a crunch. I ordered the birria burrito and the dish arrived beautifully presented but really lacked flavor. All in all, don't come here for the food - do come for the drinks and free salsa lessons on Thursday night. read more

We love Mangos Kitchen Bar so much. They have great weekly deals (Taco Tuesdays) and on Tuesday nights they have salsa lessons and social dancing. Easy to find street parking along Howe, and close to major bus lines and transit; so it's really easy and accessible to have a fun night on the town. Recently we had hosted a small birthday party there- and the staff were super attentive, organized, and very happy throughout the entire evening. We highly recommend this place for birthdays, celebrations, and if you plan on having a fun night out with friends, get to Mangos early on a Friday or Saturday night and be prepared to have a heck of a party night. Bring a phone charger - you'll be snapping pics all night. I can't wait to suggest Mangos for our next birthday party or corporate event! read more

Ok,Ok, So so was at the Hotel next door and made a quick decision to come here for Nachos with my family. No reservations but they recommend you do. I was super surprised. Super nice staff. Very nice servers, decent food... but terrible service We waited more than 10 minutes between dishes being served and had to ask for napkins/utensils. Giving all utensils and napkins from the get go would alleviate some of the pain of waiting time - it would let the table share food more easily as they wait for the slow ass kitchen. However, the dance floor was super cute and line was HUGE to get in after 9pm. Food: ceviche and tacos birria definitely take the cake out of our orders. They absolutely stuff the tacos with beef and cheese, and the ceviche is done really well. My sister liked the beef stew but I thought the meat was a bit dry. Honey garlic wings were very disappointing - they were more like a teriyaki sauce, and i was expecting a slightly drier rub. However, they were acceptably juicy. read more

Now that things are almost back to normal it's time for happy hours and drinks with friends again! I have to admit I have been out of the happy hour game for a while so had to do some research to see where to go for a great happy hour. We came to Mangos because it was one of the only happy hours downtown that goes past 6pm, 2-7pm to be exact which is perfect for an after-work get together. Coming on a Tuesday early evening there was no reservation needed for 3 of us. We were able to grab a seat at the shaded patio on the right, really cool spot to be outside but still staying cool at the same time out of the sun. There were some happy hour specials like quesadilla and chips and salsa, but we were able to score some taco Tuesday specials with $9 for 3 tacos (no substitution, sorry!) because we ordered a few drinks - delicious margaritas at $8 a pop, so refreshing on a hot hot evening! They were a little short on servers but our server was super sweet and helpful, even though she was the only one around with 8-9 tables. The tacos were decent, great portion and definitely enough for a meal! There were a lot of options so definitely ask for the Taco Tuesday special if you can. With 2 margaritas and 3 tacos it was just about $30 with tips for one person, which is such a steal in Vancouver with some cheerful cheap eats and drinks. I'm excited to come back again with more people because, everybody loves cheap drinks and tacos and what more can you ask for for a lovely get together with friends after spending so many months apart. read more

Our server saw us a total of 2 times at most. We ordered the minute we sat down, it took over 30 minutes to bring out the birria tacos, and it was semi-average. The shells were super soggy and the onions and cilantro were not in the taco. I had to open it up separating the cheese (causing it to lose its meltiness) to put the onion and cilantro in it. The meat was good though. One girl did stop by our tables to bring water and slammed it on the table and pretty much bolted away with her head turned (we didn't interact with her at all, not even exchanging hellos so I don't think it was something we did). The restaurant was not busy. There is no option to custom tip. It was either 18%, 20%, or 25%. You can most definitely find better birria tacos and service elsewhere. read more

It was taco Tuesday and we just came upon Mangos! We are just walking around Vancouver after a long trip didn't want to travel too far. Took a chance on taco Tuesday and it proved to be delicious. The fish tacos are different than the ones we have in California they're sort of deep-fried in a ball. They tasted great I'm not a big fan of corn tortillas so I didn't eat eat them. I had a great margarita, make that too and we were very happy and satisfied. Very pleased I found this little spot. read more

This place is a JOKE. they act like they're a NYC nightclub. my friends made resos at 8pm I was running late I get there at 9 to meet them. they made me pay a $20 cover because apparently after 830pm there's a cover charge. I said but I'm with a reservation who are both here I just had to run late. They made me pay the $20 (plus $3 credit card charge) still. My friends found out and got mad as they already had issues from the start with them and the shit seats by the door they tried to give them. They offered me one measly crappy drink to make it up. But between the lame crowds , the horrible BO smells,the horrible food (one of my two friends who ate got food poisoning!! thank God I lost my appetite and didn't eat their garbage food) I strongly suggest you don't waste your time or money here. We've been here a few times now and the drinks are always amazing. The atmosphere in here is super lively and fun, the music is great and the staff are really nice. We sat at the bar both times and Esteban who was our bartender were absolutely amazing. His service was quick and he made sure all our drinks / food were to our liking. He was super kind and definitely made our experience enjoyable. We had the Birria Tacos, Baja Fish Tacos, Nachos, Coxinhas and Churros and they were all so good. Where we had to dock 1 star was due to the kitchen staff. We expressed we cannot have cilantro on a few items due to an allergy, and while it was observed for the nachos, and the garnish on the baja fish tacos, it was missed for the pico which contained cilantro on the fish tacos. Our server took it very seriously and made a note of everything and the cilantro still showed up, and unfortunately my wife had some and it caused a very upset stomach and cut our visit shorter than planned. We got the item comp'd and we really appreciated the effort and the severity that Esteban took to made sure we were taken care of, however the unprofessional and mistake made by the kitchen staff cannot go ignored thus the 4 start instead of 5. The rest of the service was great and the food did taste good and the drinks were good which made up for everything. The kitchen staff should be very lucky that this allergy was not anaphylactic. We will be back though and hopefully this will not be an issue in the future! read more

Pretended to have salsa dancing: A few weeks ago (July 2021, after covid restrictions were relaxed in Vancouver) I saw their guest list on the Vancouver latin fever website. Up until then there was no gust list as dancing was not allowed, so I thought "oh great, this is allowed again!", I signed up, showed up on time only to find out that this is their way of luring customers in and there was no salsa dancing (which makes sense given covid was still a threat). Told the waiters about this, they claimed they did not know about the gust list being open on the website. There was another guy there who had also assumed there was dancing for the same reason, travelled far to get there and was as disappointed and annoyed as I was. I decided to write this today because they posted on facebook today pretending they have salsa dancing ( so now I am 100% sure they are doing this on purpose to lure people in) Poor service: I had travelled an hour to get there so I decided to stay and order food. After half hour of sitting there it turned out they completely forgot my order. This was shocking because there was a total of 10 customers in the restaurant at the time (8 of them were at the same table and had already been served, so really just 2 customers). I ended up reordering the food, the burrito finally came half hr later and it was okay. They completely ruined my night, I went home annoyed and feeling cheated. I'm never going back but I hope they learn and improve. read more

I made a reservation a week and a half in advance, and when we got there, our table was a piece of wood on a railing, with two very uncomfortable bar stools. Our "table" had a huge plexiglass thing right down the middle of it almost in our faces, we had to push it back and keep it there with the water they had at the table. We asked to be seated at a table, but they were all reserved. Then as the night went on, they brought out another table for people who had just arrived. So that left us kind of feeling not cared about. The food came, and it wasn't hot. My friends ordered was incorrect, and while they corrected the order, we weren't impressed with the food. We couldn't tell who worked there, because every employee was wearing regular clothes, in an already packed place, which made it hard to differentiate who was a worker and who was a customer. Highly unprofessional and service oriented nightlife staff. 13 of my friends and I went here for my friends birthday and received the WORST SERVICE EVER!! We were on the guest list and arrive a few minutes after the time limit and they wouldn't let it slide even though it was her birthday. Once we got into the club and tried to pay for cover etc. One of their bouncers handled a situation with the birthday girl a very unprofessional and aggressive manner shoving her out of the club. I have NEVER seen club staff handle a situation in a worse, unprofessional, and rude manner. If you are thinking of going out for a good time with your ladies, I WOULD NOT GO HERE, unless you want to get aggressively physically assaulted and pushed out of the club for no reason by a bouncer who can't handle his temper because he is jack on steroids. read more

Visited Vancouver for a long weekend with my wife, who loves to go Salsa dancing. She researched it and Mangos appeared to be the best option (read: only option) for Salsa on a Saturday night. They advertised it as "Vancouver Salsa Saturday" and that "Salsa Music will be the main topic during the night." That didn't turn out to be true.... We were there from 9ish to 11ish. I think they played 2 salsa songs, a bachata song, and maybe a merengue song. It was basically club music focusing on Latin pop, mostly reggaeton. It was a DJ, not live music. There was a wooden dance floor, but it was very small and packed. Definitely not a lot of room to comfortably dance salsa. If you are looking for Latin club scene, it is fine. If you looking for latin dancing like Salsa and Bachata, this is NOT it, at least not on the night we went. The space itself is fine. They had seating, tables, and a bar to sit at. Cover was $15, which was too much for what it was. The bouncers and staff were all cool, no issues. It did take a while to get a drink, but nothing unusual for a crowded bar on a Saturday night. The beer selection was boring, just the standard Mexican beers (Corona etc). They had 1 local craft beer on the list, but I tried to order it and they were out. So not a single IPA, Pale Ale, or anything interesting. Ordered a mojito instead. It was good, but very sugary. The bartender was nice. I did get overcharged for the mojito by a dollar or two, but when I pointed it out, he fixed it quickly. He said something about ringing up a premium or something like that. Seemed like a genuine accident, but I'd probably check my tab if I ordered drinks there again. Overall, we won't be going back. There are plenty of better places in the city to spend the evening. read more

If I could give zero stars I would Absolutely appalling service 20 minutes to get just drinks the rudest bouncers I have ever come across. Everything is very overpriced 75 dollars for 2 drinks and plate of nachos. Had a huge group at this place was promised a discount for our large party which never happened. And to top it off they double billed us on food, a few people left early and cleared their bill only to have it redivided amoungst the rest of us. Very rude staff, I am double vaccinated and I was dancing with my girlfriend and I got kicked out after paying my bill, they said I wasn't allowed to dance after I paid my bill in full and gave them a hefty tip, seriously? I live with my girfirlfiend and I can't dance with her? I got kicked out because I was dancing with her. I will never go back there, they kicked me out after I paid them. read more

I had the most awful experience at this place. The bouncers were very aggressive pushed my husband just because we were deciding if we wanted to pay the cover charge to get in. It was advertised that the entrance was free before 9:30 which was not the case. This place takes advantage of their clients and treats their guests with total disrespect. I would never step foot in this establishment again. There are so many friendly music venues around Vancouver, check out those places instead!!! read more
