The best bagels in all of Los Angeles. I used to live a short walk away from here, and would go here at least twice a week. Bagels are fresh EVERY time. Nothing like taking that first bite out of the breakfast sandwich, put together by a Phenomenal works bagel. My mouth is watering just thinking about it. It's SO easy to order off of their mobile app, as you just walk in pick up the food and head out. Employees are always so friendly and easy to work with. One time they accidently put cheese on the order when I specified no cheese, and made remade my order immediately. If you are looking for good bagels or food, go elsewhere. The service is incredibly slow, with lines barely moving at times and you wonder how long it takes to make a bagel with cream cheese. The bagels, bread and overall food used to be good here but have fallen significantly in quality, where the dough is sometimes undercooked and the bagels are flat. For the price you pay, you should expect way higher quality, timeliness and service attitude. You are treated like a chore and it looks like even the staff are overworked. Go to Tommy and Atticus's for bagels - which are so much better and the service is top notch. Or even Noah's bagels, as that is what this place competes with now - which is a tarnish to the original brand of Manhattan Beach Bread and Bagel. One of the all-time gems in the South Bay. I breakfast or lunch here at least once a week, most weeks more. The freshest bagels and the most like NY bagels. Great hand made cream cheeses. They make fresh sandwiches and salads. They cater. Kinda do it all. My go-to breakfast is either the egg and bacon on toasted onion bagel. DIRTY FILTHY PLACE. Ordered chicken sandwich with pesto that was just ok. I got a sourdough Togo. It was stale and bland. My girlfriend had bagel with cream cheese that was very good. We found every table very dirty and trash on floor. Employe gave us a rag to clean ours No napkins. After asking 3 employees, the napkins were finally given and placed in containers. I also used the men's restroom that was also filthy with Tp On floor, full trash can, and nothing to dry hands. Both at the bargain price of 11 and change. There was a wait which I didn't really care about. My goodies were made to order. And I had time. And then... surprise! This is probably the biggest order of bagel and salmon I've ever had. They were quite generous with the amount of salmon. The amount of red onions were just enough not to overpower the fish or the light cream cheese. Beef tomatoes were really fresh and the capers also upped each bite. This one order is good enough for two. Did I mention it's YUMMY!?!?!?!?!?!?! FOOD: 5. SERVICE: 4. (Friendly. Swift.) VALUE: 5. PARKING: Private lot. Shared. Not a problem at opening hour. I absolutely love stopping at Manhattan Bread and Bagel when I'm in Manhattan Beach! They have pretty good bagels, breads, cookies and rugala. MBB has a very large selection of bagels with lots of different toppings. I absolutely love all their sweets and pastries! The sugar cookies with sprinkles on them are some of the best cookies I have had. I think a Sprinkle cookies are even better than Susie cakes' sprinkle cookies. I also purchased a gingerbread reindeer cookie. The Molasses taste was a little too strong for my liking. The chocolate chip cookie and peanut butter cookie we're just okay. I really need to try one of their sandwiches. I just Can't say enough about this place! Never had a parking issue. Usually they have plenty of parking right out front. Awesome selection with super reasonable prices! I can get a hot cup of coffee and a delicious scone for under $5!!! What I only recently discovered are their sandwiches - wow! Fresh baked with super fresh ingredients. And again, the prices are excellent - a fully stuffed sandwiches, a side of pasta salad and an orange slice for $11-$12. I'm currently without a kitchen so I will order a sandwich for my daughter - 1/2 for breakfast and the other 1/2 wrapped up for lunch! I've been coming here off and on for many years. It had been a while so today I stopped in around the lunch hour. I don't know what has changed but it was a bad experience. My coffee was room temperature and when I pointed it out the clerk said she'd make a new batch. My caprese sandwich was flaccid and dry. I finally left without receiving my coffee as I got no indication from the clerk that it was imminent. I took an almond croissant home and bit into it to find it stale and dry. Yummy soft bagels...Hubby and I wanted to do brunch and our initial choice which was temporarily closed so I looked for somewhere to try in the area and settled for Manhattan Bread & Bagel. We arrived around noon and arrived to find a moderate size line to order. The bagel side registers were closed so there was only one area open to place an order. It took about 10 minutes to place our order. I would say the bagel sandwiches are a little higher in price but fair prices for the area. Our food was ready in about 5 minutes. The cream cheese does not come with bagel sandwiches so a small smear was about $2. I was happy to pay this for it. The shop is a good size for a bagel place the tables and seats were clean. The person on the register wasn't that friendly and hospitable but she did her job and wasn't rude. I would come again when in the area and looking for a yummy soft bagel or pastry.
