Orders: Sizzling Bangus Milk Fish Sisig-flavorful mashed fish w/a side of garlic rice is the perfect combination. Crispy Pata-fried pork knuckle was so juicy in the inside & crunchy on the outside no wonder everyone orders this. Chicken & Beef Skewers- nice chunks of meat w/4 skewers. Looked tantalizing but I didn't try it. Egg Rolls-a great appetizer to start with Other items we order but I didn't try. I absolutely love it! It's one of the best authentic Filipino restaurants in the East Bay. You absolutely have to try their Inihaw na liempo and sisig--it'll bring you right back to home. I brought my hubby & our non filipino friends here for first time. The best was the crispy pata (5/5), Beef caldereta was good (4/5) Kare kare was ok (3/5) no bokchoy. We really like the inihaw na liempo and bangus ala pobre - both are 5 stars for us. Today we tried the grilled baby squid, adobo, fried chicken, spaghetti, and calamansi pie. The squid was cooked perfectly but the marinade was a little too sweet for me. The adobo tasted more like paksiw/asado with a sweet gravy-like sauce, which I don't like. The fried chicken was just ok. The spaghetti was surprisingly good - nice and saucy, which I like since some places skimp on the sauce. The calamansi pie was soooo sour! I love key lime pie and I've had delicious calamansi pie in Hawaii, but this was just too sour for me. I also found it funny that the garnish was a slice of lime. Hmmm... okay. Came by on a rainy Sunday around 2 PM, and the place was fairly empty--which was actually quite nice. The restaurant is spacious and well-suited for family gatherings or parties. On top of that, the food was solid overall. I ordered the Crispy Pata and the Sizzling Bangus Sisig. The Bangus Sisig wasn't quite to my liking; I've heard the Pork Sisig is much better, so I'm looking forward to trying that next time. The Crispy Pata, on the other hand, was excellent--super crispy, with meat that was tender and not dry at all. Parking was also very convenient in the plaza. I've been to this place for the past 20+ years, since 2010 when i learned about it from my yelp friends. i always come back during the weekend for the live music. i brought many other friends and families to share my enjoyment of live music & food. food is mediocre, fusion. presentation looks nice but tastes okay, nothing spectacular...but then again, i go there for the vibes. besides the food. my recent visit brought a sour taste. pun intended. i never look at my receipt after i pay. i looked this time because they're doing a 70 anniversary celebration and each receipt that spend over $50 gets to enter the drawing for prizes. anyhow...to get to the point...the suggested Tip Guide on the receipt for 18%=$13.50 and my Total Tips charged was $14.95. the difference amount is not alarming but there shouldn't be any difference periodt. if they have done this to me, and everyone else who hadn't noticed. it's so wrong. someone explain to me why this is? needless to say. i feel scammed. i will check out Tribu Grill. i heard they offered similar vibes. goodbye Gerry's. it's been nice. i won't go there again unless someone twist my arms. *photo attached* read more

On our trip here we got the sizzling pork sisig and the bangus (milk fish) sizzling sisig. The obvious choice was going to be the bangus, very flavorful. We also picked up some garlic rice. Unfortunately, my gripe with this place isn't the food itself but more of the portion size for what you get. I felt like we got 80% of what their picture on the menu is for the food. Both dishes came out way smaller than what I thought for $22 each? Huh? I will say that this place is a chain, but there's much better options in my opinion for food especially in this range. I used to frequent this place often, because of the portion size, and the live weekend bands after a long day at work. I was having an adobo craving, so me and a friend popped in afterwork on Thursday eve. It was a slow night, so service was quick and fast. I ordered the chicken and pork adobo, with adobo rice. Been here twice with my family to celebrate special occasions such as Mother's Day (which was the most recent visit). If you're someone who's not been to the Philippines or tried authentic home cook Filipino dishes, this can be consider a good place to visit. This disappoints me as I'm looking for its usual meaty taste. I'll give it maybe (3.5/5) Their grilled baby squid tastes like the pork barbecue (maybe because they use the same sauce???) The pork barbecue is a must when you visit as it reminded me a bit of how the pork barbecue usually tastes like back in the Philippines. I'll give it (4.5/5). However, I was a little disappointed with the baby squid as I'm looking for more smoky flavor which is something usual when you eat something grilled. I'm still going to give it (4/5) as I like to eat squids and the barbecue sauce is still taste good. Service was okay for a busy Sunday. I was a little confused with our server because I'm not quite sure if she's asking us if we're doing okay or telling us we're okay. My family were considering on ordering dessert but our server just told us that the kitchen is closed while the other server of the table behind us asked if they want any dessert as the kitchen will be closing soon. So did the server decided that we don't need to order dessert anymore. I had the halo halo and the texture of the shaved ice was to my liking, soft and slushy. I also had the liempo and the cuts were thick that you had to cut it like steak. I haven't been to Gerry's Grill in a long time, so I must say it has gotten even BETTER with how much their food is packed with flavor! First, let's start with our excellent server who is Vietnamese and knows the menu very well and impressed us with the Tagalog words she knows! To start, she recommended the calamari, extra crispy, and she wasn't kidding! The batter was perfect, not greasy, and went well with the sweet and salty creamy dipping sauce. We also ordered our fav beef kare-kare, bulalo soup, and pinakbet, all of which we have enjoyed many times in the past. Their bulalo isn't fatty, which we appreciate, and it's packed with beef and veggies like cabbage and green beans. Their bulalo is food for the soul! My family ordered chicken ba-mi (pancit Bisaya) and after my first forkful, OMG, the noodles and mix of flavors made my palate so happy that I paused and soaked in all of the flavors, before exclaiming, "WOW! This is now my favorite pancit!" I had bangus ala pobre for the first time and this fish was filled with such strong flavors, that capture the uniqueness of Filipino cooking and each bite was flaky. The aroma and beauty of this dish brought me back to similar bangus cooking from my grandmother and mother and my palate and belly were so happy with my mother ordering this dish for me to try, so I could experience the Gerry's Grill version. I highly recommend this bangus ala pobre! As a final act for this savory feast, we had room left our bellies to share halo-halo. Their halo-halo is made with soft, snowy ice, topped with creamy ube ice cream and leche flan. The snowy ice made it especially enjoyable and fun to eat! SERVICE: 2/5 We often go during busy hours, so we encounter longer wait times. A few times, we've shown up between 5:30 and 7:00 PM, and it usually takes about 15 minutes to be seated. The servers are prompt with taking orders, but it can be a little difficult to catch their attention if you need anything additional due to how busy they are. It might be helpful to have a little more staff on hand during these peak hours. AMBIANCE: The ambiance is lively and could be quite noisy due to the band. Came here on a weekend afternoon and the place was packed with families celebrating birthdays, TVs playing sports, and a line at the door. They have an electronic check-in system that texts you when your table is ready, which made things easy. The vibe is very Filipino bar and grill with loud energy and big groups everywhere. When we sat down, the waitress asked if I had ever been to a restaurant like this before and if I needed help with the menu. I get curiosity, but it felt more like she assumed I would not understand it. I am Black, not confused about how to order pork and fish. Later I ordered a martini made with reposado tequila instead of vodka, and she called it weird but said she would ask if they could make it. The drink did not come until after I finished eating, and when the bill arrived, they had charged me for two tequila shots even though the martini prices on the menu match single shots of vodka. No one mentioned the price difference ahead of time. The food was good, prices fair, but the service gave an odd vibe. It felt like she just wanted to get us in and out without much care. This restaurant was clean and modern with a lively setting when I came by to order a late dinner to go this past weekend. According to a poster on the wall showing the entertainment lineup for this past month, apparently they have a few bands that regularly perform live music here. Altered Native was up on stage during my recent visit, playing covers like Everybody Wants to Rule the World by Tears for Fears and Madonna's Borderline... which would have been cool, except the volume was really loud, creating a deafening noise combined with the echoey chatter among guests, I couldn't even hear myself think... so it wasn't exactly pleasant. Even though the place was quite packed, I had no problem placing my order with the hostess not too long after I arrived (around 8pm). I was quoted 25-30 minutes for takeout, which I thought was reasonable for a single item on a busy weekend. However, this SLOWLY turned into an absurd wait time of almost an hour... for ONE entree!! I waited longer than dine-in customers waited for seating, that is ridiculous! They obviously don't have an effective system for getting orders out, or the staff working on Saturday night was incompetent. It wasn't until I told the hostess that I had to leave, that she finally went to the kitchen in the back and grabbed my order. It was all wrapped up ready to go, so I wonder how long it had been sitting there. I'm appalled that they couldn't at least quote a more accurate and honest wait time... so unprofessional. Plus the small portion for the bistek pinoy dish was definitely overpriced. The taste was decent, with flavorful sauce, meat, and onions, even if a tad too garlicky. But definitely not worth the wait, especially when everything else about this place sucks... the crowds, the service, the lack of a logical system for helping customers, all of this a reflection of the management so that must suck as well. Came her with my husband's family on a Saturday night and there was a live band that was singing, they sounded lovely but I would probably say to maybe lower the volume a little bit as it was kind of hard for us to speak with one another on our table and sitting close to the band. There was just miscommunication when husband spoke to a young kid in charge of cleaning the utensils to ask for boxes to go. Then the kid said " i dont speak tagalog" when he spoke to him in full english. So my husband got mad at him for not listening and told the other staff that he is mad at my server named Ann because she was busy with other when we need boxes. So i was confused why Ann kept apologizing. Nothing really to over the top. I normally don't like going to big corporation Filipino restaurants like Gerry's Grill. If I wanted Filipino food, I would rather have a home cook meal or go to a mom and pop restaurant, at least I know it makes me feel like my own family made it. My family and I went here because they wanted to see why their coworkers loved this place. The food was ok and service was ok as well. The sisig could have used a little bit of kick to it. Maybe Gerry's does chop up jalapeño in theirs but this was the first place that didn't. I remember it used to have more flavor before Gerry's became huge. We love our sinigang, but this one was not really all that sour, nor did it have a lot of soup. My photo shows that there is a lot of soup, but that is because the pork pieces underneath were in kind of huge piece. Some people might want more of the meat, but sinigang is known for that sour soup base. When asking very nicely if we could get more of the soup base because when we all split it evenly, there was barely any soup i our little bowls. Our server told us, no because it is measured. I get it, if everyone kept asking for more soup then there will be a lot more of the meats, but they could have said it in a much nicer tone, or at least say sorry we can't and then explain why. Nothing special about the squid. It was good, a bit chewy, but it might be because the big squids like that are more on the chewy side. My cousin loved it though. The best part of our meal was the chicharon. Nothing to complain at all with that dish. It was nice and crispy. Food is decent, but that is only because I am Filipino. I am used to regular evaporated milk . The Service was slow because one guy was doing everything. Thankfully we came early because it got packed!!! It was a treat because there was live music that night. We ordered drinks and then ordered some food. Pancit Palabok....one of my faves. And ya gotta order lumpia. Being filipino, both were yum. Paired nicely with our drinks. Heck the whole menu sounded yum. As people ordered, I was eyeing their plates because it all looked so good. One toilet leaks internally and the door to the stall with the broken toilet seat is now locked so nobody can use it. The Wife reports one women's toilet leaks to the floor. C'mon Gerry.
