I've been coming to this bakery for cream puffs for years and years and they are STILL the best I've ever had. They used to be 50-60 cents each when I first started going and now they're a $1 each but absolutely worth every cent!! There's another location in Garden Grove so Ktown or Garden Grove whatever's closer for you. The custard filling is rich, dense, creamy and perfectly sweetened. It's also filled all the way through unlike some places where they skimp out and it's a lot of dough/air. Just the teeniest bit of crust to hold the filling and it's basically just pure custard... soooooo so good. No frills bakery. Not here for the aesthetics just good cream puffs. They sell bread and cakes too but we are loyal cream puff enthusiasts. 50c charge for using credit card if you don't hit $10 I think but... 2 bags of cream puffs and you're good to go. I cleared these so quick. Buy more than you think you're going to need and ESPECIALLY if you plan on sharing!! These cleared out in SECONDSSS before we even got the freeway back home. Easy parking. There's only 1 row in front and usually taken (since they're right next door to BCD) but there's the whole rest of the plaza to park in so don't even worry. read more

Very good service. We recently ordered a whole cake from the place, as I'd heard that their cakes are really good. The rumor was right. They may not be the fanciest or the prettiest of cakes out there, but everything tasted so fresh -- we ordered the fresh fruit cake. Everyone in the group was surprised by how good it was. I really enjoyed going to manmi bakery over the weekend. Manmi is a local bakery that specializes in korean bread/baked goods/cakes that seems to be run by a family. Sweet potato Bento Cake: 8.5/10 - soft not too sweet. They have a variety of different Korean breads sold here for a fair price compared to all the other cafés around Koreatown. I also bought a green bean bread just to see what it tasted like and was surprised because the taste wasnt too sweet and had a great balance of flavor and sweetness to it. I would rather buy the bread here rather than some other places because some other places are too sweet or too expensive for what it is. Reminds me of the older days. Nostalgic memories. Staff is run by what it seems to be a family and they are so nice and attentive. They have like two tables outside to sit if you wanna dine in. I've never heard of this place nor have I ever been there. But I did go to my wife's grandmas 90th birthday party over the weekend, and her birthday cake came from Manmi. I couldn't believe how delicious this cake was! It was a mocha cake with the best tasting white frosting I've ever had. I brought leftovers home and ate this cake for breakfast three days straight My birthday is next week. I hope my wife gets me a cake from here too. Soooo gooood!!! read more

Really a great store! I had to go in early in the morning to pick up a cake for later that night and needed something that would hold. They suggested the cheesecake cake (cake on the bottom, cheesecake on top). It was beautifully decorated. They provided the plastic knife, candles and matches too! Very very complete and thoughtful. Great lil mom-and-pop bakery! Service is great and has a large shared parking lot. This is a no-frills kind of bakery. Generally, what they offer aren't fancy but are solid basic korean-style pastries. I especially like their white bean pastry. And my goodness, they do not skimp on their fillings! Just that alone will have me coming back. Haven't gotten their cakes but they look nice and are fairly priced. They also sell coffee and korean shaved ice, which I'll have to try one day! I saw it was a fairly small bakery, but the cake selection was p good! it had a nice quaint feeling of a local bakery which I appreciated. there were also freshly baked breads that were individually wrapped for sale but I was in a bit of a time crunch. there was only one lady working there who was v sweet and patient with me. i took a while to decide since I wasn't sure which flavor to get at first. I ended up choosing the sweet potato one since it was such a unique flavor and it was a hit! the size was perfect and the flavor wasn't too sweet (which is appreciated for asian desserts). the price was fair considering it's a small business and was a decent size (8 slices!) there were also bits of sweet potato in the cake which I surprisingly enjoyed overall a great experience and I would love to support them again when I'm in the area! read more

My experience with this bakery was hit or miss. Once we ate a slice of very nice tasting custom celebration cake at someone's big 80th birthday party and got to know this bakery by asking where they got the cake from. First cake purchase went great. We asked for the freshly made sweet potato cake, and they had one which tasted great. Second time was not so great. The decoration looked very nice just like the first one, but as we cut it, cream was hard and crackling, and when we tasted it, the bread part tasted sour. That was my birthday cake my mom got for me. We brought it back to the bakery, and the baker who said they only sell the fresh cakes tasted it and spit it out. We got our money back. This bakery lost my trust that day. I told mom that I did not want a replacement from the same bakery, so we went to 85 to get a fresh cake. Despite having a previous bad experience with this bakery, my mom went again and got another old cake for someone else's special day. She asked for the fresh cake and was asked to wait outside while they make a new cake. She waited 20-minutes in the car. She got disappointed when she tried the slice of it though. She said that the cream was moist but the bread part was very dry unlike other fresh cakes she had purchased from this bakery. We suspect that they replaced the cream part only. She stopped going to this bakery after that experience. Dear the owner of this bakery, The reputation of the business is very important in the long run than instant profits. People can easily tell whether the cake is fresh or not. One does not have to be a baker to tell that. read more

Their cream puff were so bad. Dry on the outside and thick paste like cream on the inside. It's a heavy snack. The filling def taste like there were thickeners to prevent the cream puff from getting soggy from being in the fridge for a while. It also tastes like a fake vanilla flavor.. im sure they have other great breads but I wouldn't go for their cream puffs. I called a few bakeries in KTown to look for what I want.. since I don't speak Korean, a lot of them were impatient borderline unhappy with me, 1 bakery simply hung up lol. The lady at Manmi was exceptionally nice from the start. Not only did they have a 6in cake which is what I was hoping for, when I asked her to set a cake aside for me, she said they make it fresh! I called at 11am they had it ready at noon, an hour later! Crazy :O she was so patient, so kind, so helpful. The mocha cake i got was absolutely delicious, not too sweet, beautiful, and you can tell it's made with attention to details. I won't go anywhere else from now on for cake, seriously. The service was beyond what I could have hoped for as they were extremely accommodating. I was trying to help out my girlfriend with a last minute bday cake request for her daughter. I was pretty sure I was going to have to bake one myself but called a few places to see what my options were. I called them at 10:30 am and explained I needed a cheesecake with some custom decoration. Furthermore, I needed it by 3pm. I was pleasantly surprised when I was not laughed off the phone but they gave me multiple options and let me choose the time to pick it up. Additionally, the price was more reasonable than any other bakery that I had called for whatever was on hand with no customization. After having the bday plans pushed up on me, I called to see if there was anyway I could pick it up an hour early. I was flabbergasted when they said it was ready and I could pick it up right away. I arrived within 10 minutes and it was packaged in a beautiful and convenient box that was very easy for me to transport. They even threw in a box of bday candles and the icing on the cake (pun intended) was that they stopped me from rushing out the door to give me three free cream puffs! I could not recommend a business more, they were extremely warm and friendly Finally, and perhaps most importantly the cheesecake was a hit with everybody and tasted as good it looked. I went close to closing time so they were sold out of a lot but I did try the Chestnut Pie which was delicious. I was expecting something like a crunchy pecan pie but the crust was soft and bread like. The chestnut was finely chopped and crisp like an apple so it was a nice mix of texture.
