I can't believe how small the portions have gotten before they used to be way bigger
Maria A.

I have done a review on this place before and it was a good one. The price was spot on with the portions. Know, the prices went UP and the portions went DOWN. Literally my half the size but the prices went up. I went yesterday with my kiddos and I was in shock and disbelief to see how smaller the portions are. They literally are half the size as I used to remember, but the prices were higher. Don't get me wrong. The pastries are delicious, but not at that price definitely not at that price not worth it at least for me.

We came here to try out the viral fruit shaped desserts, however they didn't have any when we came we ended up getting a spread of different desserts to try. Honestly, they were okay. Nothing too special for how pricy they were. The inside is extremely small, only 2 small tables. The service however, outstanding. The staff was SO friendly & offered suggestions! Parking can be tricky depending what day/time you come. I don't think we would come back as we didn't enjoy the deserts as much as we hoped to, however the staff there truly were amazing!

Unfortunately, I think this place is overhyped, or at least it's not worth the prices they charge. I spent almost $100 on 5 desserts, and here's the breakdown, including from some of the desserts my friends got: Strawberry - 7/10 - some lemon juice would have brought it up to an 8, as it was very one note Date - 6/10 Orange - 7/10 - it started as an 8, until you get to the very center. The very center tasted like they blended the peel and water together and froze it, because it was pretty bitter. Croissant - 7/10 Mango - 6/10 - you can barely taste the mango Pineapple (not pictured) - 8/10 Service was great, and it has a dark cozy ambience if that's your thing, but overall, it was a nice one and done.

Strawberry, coffee bean, eclair, blueberry macron.
Sticky M.

While the creativity is excellent, unfortunately I'd say the taste on the strawberry was just ok, I'd say the overall size it rather large for it being a lot of cream. I feel that if they shrunk the size of the strawberry it would make for a better dessert overall and they couldn't need to change anything else. The coffee bean was extremely overpowering for me and I usually like coffee flavors desserts - however my husband loved this one so go at your own discretion. The eclair was also just ok in my opinion the pate a choux was a bit waxy. The blueberry macron didn't really taste like blueberry, just like sugar but it was cute because of the color. Unfortunately I feel it's more of a instagram post than a memorable meal.

Aurora has the most beautiful desserts in LA. They are also delicious and not too sweet. My favorites are the Mango Madness and Passion Fashion Cake. The staff were super friendly and offer suggestions if you're not sure what to order. Ambiance is cozy and hip. Parking on the street is metered only. Highly recommended!

Passion Fashion Cake and Mango Madness

I stumbled upon this place as I was shopping just down the block and was looking for a quick afternoon dessert. Besides being Instagram photo-worthy, the desserts I had were quite good. I tried the popular Mango Madness and I can definitely see why this is so popular. The outer chocolate shell is so thin that it does not overpower the taste of the mango mouse inside. This was a perfectly balanced dessert. I also had the Passion Fashion cake which was light, fluffy and had the tartness of the passion fruit come through. I took a start off my experience because I asked for these as dine-in and I heard my server tell the staff the same. However, they still packaged this up for takeout so I had no plate to eat these at the table.

Mayra S.

Aurora exceeded expectations in both presentation and flavor. Each dessert felt like a piece of art. The raspberry shaped mousse and mango dessert were visually stunning and incredibly well executed. The mousse in every piece was flawless: light, silky, and consistent in quality. The chocolate pastry was rich with a smooth finish, and nothing felt overly sweet. It is definitely a bit pricey, but the craftsmanship and overall experience justify it. This is one of those places where every item impresses. Service was good can't complain.

Van L.

I tried an assortment of their desserts but my favorite was the banana one! The inside was creamy with a nice chocolate mousse, thin layer of chocolate cake, and a nice banana puree covered in a layer of banana flavored chocolate! This place is popular for good reason! They tend to sell out towards the end of the day so go early if you want a specific dessert but the line moves quickly!

Orangimum

This review is only based on the popular "Orangimum" dessert that my colleague brought me from this bakery. Location This pastry shop is located on La Brea Ave, at the southwest corner of W 2nd Street and La Brea Ave -- literally right next to Valvoline (the oil change place). I've heard about this spot many times over the past year -- people always mention how pretty and delicious their cakes are -- but I never had the chance to stop by and try it myself. My colleague gave me one of their signature "Orangimum" dessert cake, and it was delicious! Not too sweet, with just the right hint of orange flavor. I'll definitely visit in person to try more of their cakes when I get the chance. Thank you for creating such a beautiful and tasty dessert!

On the way into SD for my bf and my 2 year anniversary we stopped by Aurora Bakery! It's just as beautiful as described. The aesthetic is very elegant and the service is quick. I went once on the way into SD and once one the way back home from SD, I highly recommend this beautiful pastry shop if you love delicate or rich sweets. Out of all of the pastries I ordered; my favorite is the chocolate raspberry & Napoleon (:

This was a place that my friends wanted to try out. I guess it's big on social media. I had never heard of it, so after they told me we were going to go, I started doing research and, of course checking out Yelp reviews. Everything looks so beautiful, definitely a work of art. I had my eye on the Lavendar Mine; I love anything lavender. My friends have been there previously and they stood in a long line by the time they made it up there, there was nothing available. So we made sure to get here earlier. There was a line of maybe six people ahead of us. So not bad, and they had a lot to choose from. It's cool to watch them in the window making the items, so time seemed to go pretty quickly . I went ahead and got what I had planned, plus I got a 12 pack of macaroons to take home. In our group, quite a lot was bought between everybody. We were able to snag a table out front, very limited seating. The lavender Mine was delicious: light and airy, and the lavender was not overbearing. It was heavenly. I got to try a bite of everybody else's items, I did like mine the best. This is definitely a one-and- done for me. It was a neat experience, but I don't necessarily need to go back. The guys working behind the counter were overwhelmed. It didn't seem like they had a good system going. The guy helping at the counter would put things on a nice tray and set it in the counter behind him. There were two guys behind there to put things in the boxes and arrange them beautifully. They didn't have enough boxes made, and I could tell they were completely overwhelmed. I'm not sure if everybody was new or what the situation was, definitely needed to be organized better. * My advice is to bring a cooler if you are going a longer distance. We had a long day ahead of us, so we brought a cooler that plugs in in the back kept things nice for the day 7/28/25

Fun to try & eat. These remind me of an expensive Whole Foods dessert, I don't know why but it gives me Whole Foods vibes. Came here on a Sunday afternoon, the banana, orange & giant raspberry was sold out already. Opted to the macaron with raspberries (favorite), the mango, lemon & hazelnut. I love how they have some type of fruit inside of them that's nice & cold. I enjoyed the fruity flavors combined with the fresh cream & chocolate. The hazelnut one was a no for me, it was wayyyyyy too sweet & I felt like it was missing a crunchy texture inside. Overall, fun to try.

A few friends and I decided to check out Aurora after seeing tons of reviews and videos all over social media. The desserts looked incredible online, so we were pretty excited to try it out. Unfortunately, the experience didn't quite live up to the hype. For starters, the selection was surprisingly limited. I was expecting more variety, especially given how popular the place seems online. The shop itself is cute but really small. They do offer both indoor and outdoor seating, which was convenient. The biggest letdown for me was the pricing. $12 for a lemon dessert and $15 for a mango one felt outrageous, especially considering how underwhelming the presentation was. The fruit-shaped desserts weren't very well-formed either. I've had similar ones in a dessert shop in New York that were much more detailed, realistic, and honestly tasted better too. This just didn't compare. As for the service, there's not much to say. It was quick and efficient. We didn't have to wait in line, ordered right away, paid, and found a place to sit. Would I go back? Probably not. It felt like a one-and-done kind of place. The desserts weren't bad, but they weren't nearly as good as I expected and certainly not worth $12-15 for such small portions. The flavors were fine, but weren't lacking in flavor in my opinion.

The Burbank location has at least four savory options to choose from. Still, their croissants are so good - huge and perfectly flaky. When it comes to desserts, I always get a Napoleon ($9) since it's my favorite and they make it well. I tried the Tropical Mango ($11) and Framboiselle ($9.50) for the first time and they were really good! They have both become a new favorite of mine and I will order them again! Service was great as well. I just wish that they would carry more savory croissants at this location.

We've seen all the viral fruit pastries online, and were so excited to try them. When we got in, we were able to see all of the options on display and they had a big menu telling you exactly what was in each one. You order off of a kiosk, which makes it incredibly easy to order. Almost all of our pastries were ready before we had even left the kiosk, which was great! I went with the mango and the peach, both of which were fantastic! The shortbread cookie underneath both was delicious, the mango mousse and filling tasted so fresh and amazing. The peach had an Earl Grey cream and fresh peach chunks as well. Both were in the classic white chocolate shell. These are so cute, fun to eat, very refreshing, and not overly sweet. The shop itself is adorable, plenty of seating, great decor and the staff was super friendly and very nice! Where do I even begin with the magic of this place?!…read more This has become one of my absolute favorite spots and every single time I go, I end up finding something new to obsess over. The Paris Roma sandwich is chef's kiss. The bread is the perfect mix of soft on the inside while still being beautifully toasted. The tomatoes and cheese taste incredibly fresh, and whatever magical spread they put on it... I need the recipe because WOW. This is a refreshing sandwich! The Sea-trus salad is another favorite. It somehow manages to be light, refreshing, and still filling. The lox and veggies are unbelievably fresh and everything just works together perfectly. Love the lightness of the dressing. This will not disappoint! If I'm in the mood for something a little heartier, I go for the tomato soup and half truffle grilled cheese. I LOVE this combo. The truffle flavor is spot on and not overpowering at all. Comfort food done right. Now for the best part... dessert (my personal weakness). The canelés are my obsession. I actually buy multiple little bags of the mini ones to have with my morning coffee. They remind me of the perfect cross between crème brûlée and French toast. Crispy outside, soft center, absolute perfection. The St. Honoré is a little pricier, but worth every penny and I usually order more than one. The cream is light with a subtle vanilla flavor and those little pastry puffs on top are pure magic. This is more of an elegant, delicate dessert rather than something rich and intense. And then... yesterday I tried a chocolate dessert for the first time and I wish I remembered the name because I have not stopped thinking about it. It was a chilled circular chocolate mousse covered in chocolate with hazelnut and it was honestly PERFECTION. I don't even know how to describe it properly. Rich, smooth, balanced... I had it with coffee and it was one of those desserts you immediately plan on ordering again before you've even finished it. This is more of a rich dessert! Beyond the food, the owner and staff are incredible. They are warm, welcoming, attentive, and genuinely make this place feel special. You can tell they care deeply about the experience, not just the food, and it shows in everything they do.
