Took my friends out to dinner. Wait staff was very accommodating. They were quick to refill water and replace drinks & bread. Fried Calamari chewy. Food is good but had a bad experience with the billing and management. My aunt ordered a $35 dollar bottle of wine and somehow they brought out a $75 bottle(waiters mistake). They gave us a big problem with it. They use some sort of numbering system. She order 113 they brought of 115 and I guess she didnt pay attention. Just had an early dinner here. The service was quick but our server was not pleasant. She didn't check in on the app or our dinner. She seemed like she couldn't be bothered waiting on us. Our appetizer was ok, it was zucchini stuffed with ricotta and beer battered. They give you two small pieces and charge about $15 for it. The price wouldn't be an issue if they were amazing but it was just ok. For dinner I decided to just have a Caesar salad with grilled chicken. The dressing had a strange taste to it (hint of honey mustard) and they served the chicken steaming hot on top of the salad. My fiancé had ravioli which he said was good (hard to mess up), but it was the sauce that made the dish. I am not sure that I would return, maybe just for pizza or quick take out. read more

We were overcharged for the food we received and the owner would not change the bill. We ordered chicken parm, which came with a side of pasta @ $25.90. Penne with pink sauce was our choice. The bill showed $25.90 listed as "chick parm entre penne pick sauce." No problem The next line stated "1/2 pasta spaghetti pink sauce 14.90".?????We asked our waiter for an explanation and was told the extra charge was for the pink sauce, which he told us was one of the sauce choices. They, the waiter and the so-called owner, refused to adjust our bill. The rest of our food was OK, but certainly have had better in the area. I won't take the time to list them. Also when we arrived we were served stale hard bread of a few different varieties. Terrible. We asked for a different bread basket and received one. Not a word of apology, sorry, nothing. (It May have been sitting around from the lunch crowd). Needless to say we will never return to Manninos. I caution others to check their bill carefully. With all the great Italian restaurants in the area one would think they would try to do the right thing to retain customers rather than turn them away. Shame on you. read more

I've been going to Manninos for about ten years since we moved here, they use to be very small friendly and accessible. We now with there multiple locations and renovations the ability to get your take out is just impractical. I ordered a Greek salad and a slice and waited 20 minutes. While the whole time it was just sitting getting cold. They take your order, your money and forget about you. Staffing needs to re-train or train their counter personnel. I took my wife here for dinner Friday evening. We had fried calimari as an appetizer, very tender & nice sauce. I had Chicken Portofino  Breast of chicken sauteed w/artichoke hearts, roasted tomatoes in a port wine sauce topped with fresh mozzarella. Upon arrival for a 4pm reservation everything seemed fine. The waiter was very courteous and made sure we always had a drink. Out of the 5 dishes, 4 were good. The 5th was not. The "special" which one of my party ordered was the Rib-eye with shrimp. Well, after the shrimp were eaten they were not good at all. The steak was ordered "medium". A medium steak consists of a thick band of pink in the middle. The steak was not cooked to order. It was instead almost well done with no taste and difficult to chew! The party member tried not to complain as it was mothers day and did not want to make an issue. Well, after the steak was pretty much unbearable to eat we decided to inform our waiter. After discussing with him he took the steak back. Well, after a few minutes the owner of the restaurant appeared at our table. Instead of apologizing to use and asking what could be done to make things better he instead attacked us verbally. He said he cut the steak and there was a line of pink and it was delicious. After I told him there was no red in the steak, he rolled his eyes and walked away. We never heard from him again and the 35 dollar meal was still on the bill! The owner should know how a medium steak is cooked and should realize that is not how you speak to customers. My family and I will never go to this restaurant again. I will never step foot in that restaurant again and will inform everyone I know how this owner spoke to my family and I on mothers day! read more

Takeout pizza good, fried calamari was rancid. Wife called to complain politely and owner twisted it around saying we waited too long to pick it up. It was 20 min from time I ordered as the girl told me 20 min or so. I live 2 min away. Poor attitude by owner who has a bad rep. Not the only game in town, he wil never see me again. I've been a patron of the Commack Manninos for 10 years. My husband and I went there on our first date and to celebrate our engagement. We've always been treated nicely and enjoyed our food immensely. We decided to try the Smithtown Manninos and we're less than satisfied with the management. They charged an extra $3.00 to substitute cheese in the salad and he claimed the cost of mozzarella cheese is much higher than gorgonzola. He was extremely rude when we questioned the sharing charge and claims the Commack Manninos has an even higher sharing charge. Overall, the food was fine but the attitude and demeanor of the manager was disgusting and we will not return back to the Smithtown Manninos. read more

The owner of this business is so rude that I will never go back. The food is decent but nothing special. But since we were trying to be cost effective & it is local we were thinking about booking a party there. This has to be the only place that charges you per head for unlimited soda. After meeting with owner & telling him we would think it over, he jumped up & said you are not booking it right now???!!! He then went off & just left us standing there. This was the most rudest & unprofessional behavior I have ever seen from a business owner. I will never go here again! Worst customer service! The food at Mannino's is either hit or miss but we did enjoy the pizza. However, because of a recent incident we will not be going back. My husband was kidding with the owner and gave him a few suggestions which apparently he did not appreciate and responded with a crude ethnic hand gesture in front of his staff and other customers. My husband was in total shock. What a horrible role mode for his employees and well as for his new son. He is very arrogant and moody, speaks to you or ignores you when he wants. He should never be let out of the kitchen, he is not a front man. My neighbors and friends could not believe it. We will not be going back unless it changes owners. read more

Went recently for lunch, ordered their Ceasar salad and chicken parmigiana. The salad dressing was watered down tasted horrible and instead of giving me a side salad they charged me six dollars for a huge salad I ended up sending back. The chicken was ok but the sauce was watery and had very little flavor, Ragu wouldve tasted better. The bread was fresh however and was great. The service was also lacking. We are regulars at this great restaurant and pizza place. We go for dinner all the time in the dining room, and I stop by frequently for pizza at lunchtime, I especially love the eggplant slice. It gets busy on Friday and Saturday nights, but the quality of the food never goes down. I especially love the shrimp fra diavlo, the stuff veal chop, and the pear salad with grilled chicken when we go for dinner, and my husband loves the branzino fish and any pasta dish. OMG!!!!! My New Favorite Place!!!! I used to go to Manninos way back in the day when it was on Commack Road. I used to order a dish called Chicken Verde which should be on the menu now!! I called the owner to ask if they still make this dish, he said he would be "Honored " to make it for me. Well I was the one honored OUTSTANDING EXPERIENCE!!! The food was i think the best Italian I have ever eaten! Our server Reinaldo was stellar he catered to our every need without being over bearing. Any thing we asked seemed to be his pleasure. We ordered Stuffed Squash Flowers that were so perfectly cooked when you bit them they were crispy with a warm melty center ,The Soft Cheese Salad was awesome the cheese was creamy and the dressing was a perfect accent to the dish. My husband got Frutta Di Mare which my husband said was served in a boat it was so fresh and delicious. I of course ordered the Chicken Verde and it was outstanding the chicken was succulent and juicy the cheese is so high quality so its gooey yet creamyas it melts and the sauce is just addictive. This is based solely on a regular slice and a margarita slice. Ok so first off I got those two slices and a water for $9. That's insane and considering there water is not even name brand that's even more absurd. Secondly the regular slice tasted like it came from a digiorno box it was thick and chewy and the cheese tasted fake. The margarita slice was odd. It had an amazing tomato sauce but than a "fresh" mozzarella which was way too thick and not seasoned. The margarita slice was good though mostly because again the sauce was truly great. Could have been a bad batch or a different cook but I've truly had better regular pizza out of a ellios box read more

I have been a loyal customer to Bueno sera here in Smithtown so I feel horrible that I cheated on them lol. However, I was my bank & heard them talking about a great Italian place thinking they were talking about Bueno! They told me that I had been missing out all these years in Smithtown by not trying Manino's and they were right. They have excellent pizza "thin crust" and perfectly crisp. Next I tried their rice balls when I called on the telephone I believe I was speaking to the owner who said that they were normal in size in his opinion and I was heading out the door when a patient of mine called & told me he was sitting in the same parking lot so I asked him to go pick up 5 for me. He arrives with a pizza box and hands it to me I almost dropped it as it was a lot heavier than I thought. I opened the box and the rice balls are gigantic and delicious beyond belief! Not too cheesy and was not overwhelmed with peas. I plan on trying more items on the menu although I will still do business with Bueno sera. I have to admit though Manino's pizza is the best pizza in town read more

Two of us went into Mannino's on a Saturday evening, around 6:30pm. We chose it, because it was nearby, and we wanted something quick, like pizza. With lots of choices within the block, this was a good one! (I also like the retro signage on the front!) The place was packed with families and loud with conversation! There wasn't a seat to be had, but, we figured we'd get a couple of slices (which we could see in the back adjacent to the counter/cashier), and eat in the car. Turns out that we didn't have to, because, directly across the counter were two empty and clean bar-style seats and shelf. We grabbed them, then chose two different slices from the counter display (I chose a veggie combo and my friend chose a thin-crust plain slice). The cashier/countergirl popped both into the pizza oven, and we waited a couple of minutes. After selecting drinks from the customer-accessible 'fridge, we sat and were very impressed! I could taste every veggie, yet they all combined, perfectly! My friend said it was the best thin-crust she has had in a long time! All the waitstaff smiled as they passed us and the tables, and two asked whether we needed anything (it was obvious that we didn't, but, it was nice to be asked). Glancing at the tables in front of us, the dinner meal portions were HUGE, but, they're a bit on the pricey side, with our two slices and drinks costing a hefty $12 with tax (we noticed from the leaflet menu that everything was a little more than I'd expect to pay for meals, sandwiches, etc). I deducted 1/3 star for that, another 1/3 for a messy men's room, and a final 1/3 because, despite eating the pizza scant moments after it came out of the oven, both were on the tepid side. We were in a hurry, and the place was jumping, and, as I said, the pizzas were incredibly delicious, so, we didn't bother with re-heating (and, unless they had a microwave oven, it probably wouldn't be sanitary to do so; I did mention it to the cashier, and she acknowledged it, but, otherwise, didn't seem to care (as I said, it was busy, and, besides, it's Noo Yawk (!), so I let that tiny bit of rudeness slide!). Despite those tiny faults, I heartily recommend Manninos, Smithtown! read more
