Came here for my friend's bridal shower recently and I was surprised at the size of the place. I didn't do any stalking... I mean research, before I arrived so I was expecting something a little bigger. It seems like a local bar/casual dinner spot. Apparently there's more space upstairs but I wasn't up there so I have no comments on that. The brunch menu looked pretty good to me. Omelettes, burger, salads, pita.... it all sounded delicious. I kept it simple (I do have a dress to fit into next month!) and went with the grilled chicken salad. I'm glad I did. It was (to me) a dinner sized portion and it was very good. Fresh mozz, roasted red peppers, well seasoned chicken... I definitely recommend it. Given that The Manor is in Staten Island it's highly unlikely I'll ever be back, but for those in the area, it's a good spot for brunch or a small party. read more

Went after Mass because, well, it's close. So here's how I like to eat: I'll start with the least interesting thing on the plate and work my way up to the top. What that says about me psychologically, I leave to more learned people. Invariably, the vegetable are the first to go because they can be pretty boring. I ordered the short rib special because short ribs and was presented with nicely plated broccoli, ribs and garlic mashed that they took the time to pipe out. So off to dispatch the broc and holy geez are they good! I mean perfectly cooked cooked and seasoned and tossed with garlic breadcrumbs. Too many times, veggies are either undercooked to preserve their color or cooked to within an inch of their life. These were perfect, crisp without being raw and vibrantly colored. I was actually sorry to see them go. The short rib itself was perfectly cooked - fall off the bone tender without being mushy and served with a classic wine reduction sauce that walked a fine line between sweet and sour. Paired with the mashed potatoes, it made one of the better meals I've had in a long time. Here's the thing though: the Manor is one of those well-entrenched neighborhood places and for good reason - they have a well earned reputation for serving good, solid food. They could get by serving the same old safe standbys (and you can get those if you want) and not try as hard as they do. They could easily do that, but they don't as evidenced by this meal. Clearly, everyone here, from the friendly and attentive front of the house staff to the clearly talented back of the house is trying just a little harder than everyone else. It shows. read more

We have been going here on and off for years, food is always great and portions more than filling (usually cant finish and take home). However, big difference in service between the staff at the bar and the waitress/waiters. The Bar staff is friendly, helpful and makes the experience overall pleasantry. In contrast the waitress/waiters (some not all) appear to have an attitude as is they entered into indentured servitude, as if they find reasons not to be serviceable. We asked to move our table from an area next to a window that had a constant chill. We were told that we could not be accommodated despite several other (more than 4) tables which were empty. We were forced to eat an otherwise perfect meal with our coats on. Do all your ordering at the bar, you'll truly enjoy the Manor Restaurant. read more

Did outdoor dining last night and it was great! The Asian calamari was crunchy, with a sweet and sour glaze but not too much that it softened the crispiness. I had the Salmon Blanca and the portion size was just enough without getting too stuffed! I had the Manor Coffee to finish up my meal. My daughter had the shrimp and scallops special. So here on a date night, total disaster. They have a party upstairs. Now every dine in customer has to has unaccebtable wait times. Now to boot my food off the special menu was total crap. Over cooked pasta, ruined dried out chicken. Waitress was really not good either. Never paid attention to our empty drink glasses. Money best spent elsewhere. Every time we get food or visit the Manor, we are always satisfied! The food and service is exceptional. We never felt rushed to order and our food came out perfect. For a picky eater with a food sensitivity, my orders tend to be annoying but the staff reassured me that I was not a bother and my food came out exactly the way I ordered it. In the past we have had Sabrina and Lisa take care of us, and couldn't have been more satisfied. The staff at the Manor goes above and beyond. read more

Delicious food but horrible service! Our waiter Frank seemed to be the host, waiter, busser, and cook. We ordered Fried Calamari and after waiting 35 minutes, it finally came to our table. The portion was huge and it seemed fresh. The sauce was delicious and I usually don't like anyone else's sauce but my mothers. After another 45 minutes of waiting, our food was thrown at us by 4 different servers (finally, Frank was relieved of all his tables). We had 2 Kobe burgers, 2 salads, and cheesesteak. The food was great! Everything was fresh and hot, which makes us think that our waiter really WAS the cook. A great place if you're looking to be annoyed. I'll order take-out next time. Have eaten here many times through the years. I have had the same experience as another reviewer when arriving later in the evening. The staff is very angry and unpleasant when you arrive anywhere close to closing time for the kitchen. But I have also been there on an afternoon when a manager has gotten so loud and abusive with staff that a young waitress (who was waiting on my table) quit on the spot. My 92 year old mother was with me at that time and was rather distressed. I have also been there many lunch times when there was only one waitress. She was an older woman who simply cannot handle all of the tables. The food can be quite good so it's a shame that the management and the staff are so distressed. It's not everyone...some of the staff bend over backward for you....but others are obviously unhappy! read more

If there are flies in the dinning area what does the kitchen look like? Owner needs to do a complete cleaning over haul. Wouldn't say that this place was memorable for either positively or negatively. We had the lunch special each and it was $12 for soup/salad , entree, dessert and coffee/tea. I'm not sure if it was worth it to get the special since the only good quality was the entree, which is important but meh. The soup was Manhattan clam chowder, but it seemed more like tomato potato soup-- hey not complaining because I love potatoes hah. The penne with meat sauce was a bit more sour than the usual tomato based sauce and it strangely had carrots in it. Coffee was horrible, but what did I expect for restaurant coffee. (They really should end that assumption that restaurants have coffee that tastes like gasoline). The rice pudding dessert was very tasty, but the whipped cream was so overpowering. The price for the entree was worth it because it was 2 serving sizes...I had it for dinner after I brought it home to eat! read more

Went here for a family party so the menu was only three choices. Everything was average except for The steak which was phenomenal for a non steakhouse. I was told they are known for their steaks. I have been to the Manor Restaurant many times and it has always been excellent. The menu is great and a nice change from the many Italian restaurants on Staten Island. You can get a burger or pizza or a gourmet entree or a good steak. You can get a draft beer, great cocktails, wine and persecco. I have brought many friends to the Manor Restaurant and was never disappointed. The staff is always excellent, especially Jill and Kelly. On many occassions the owner was present and he was alway friendly and welcoming to everyone. The prices are reasonable. Some nights they are very busy so I would highly recommend making a reservation on a Friday or Saturday. read more

Food is absolutely delicious! There hot antipasto is to die for. We kept asking for more bread to dunk in the mussels. Came out fast and hot out of the oven. Staff was very friendly and very attentive. The pizza crust was baked perfectly it wasn't to thin and not to thick and had a nice crisp to it. My favorite part of the evening was the dessert I love Reese's and they had a Reese's peanut butter pie that I could have licked the plate clean it was that good. This is a regular haunt for me, my family and friends. The food is consistent, the drinks are awesome. The staff is great. Sunday brunch with Jenn is a great deal, always packed so make a reservation especially if you have a large party. The chicken wings are off the hook. Crispy and well done. Always a big hit. Just ask for hot sauce on the side. The brunch burger is fantastic. Eggplant parm hero on garlic bread is a must. Just make sure you like fresh garlic. Salads are always fresh and delicious. Came here for brunch one Sunday with a few girl friends. The food was just 'ok' , but the bottomless drinks made it all worth it. Our waitress was not nice at all, almost seemed like it bothered her that we were asking her for things. We were pretty much the only table there so I can't see what the problem was .
