I've been wanting to try Manresa Bread for awhile now and finally got the chance to go on a Sunday morning. I ordered online and headed over. The farmer's market was happening, so I found parking in a garage and walked over. There was a long line snaking around the inside, but there are signs for pickup/online orders to the left of the space. There wasn't anyone at that side, so I had to wait a bit before being helped. They also make the drinks upon arrival. There were plenty of people eating inside and out. I opted to sit outside and tried the chai latte, which was okay. Slightly sweet, not very spicy. The sausage, egg, and cheese breakfast sandwich was massive as the biscuits were tall and flaky! I loved the soft egg that was almost fluffy, along with the cheese crisp on it and the melted cheese under it! It was a decadent breakfast. This came with a side of smashed potatoes that were alright. I think if they were smashed more, they could've gotten a better crisp outside. Portions were very generous though. I also had a ham and cheese brioche that I saved for the next day, and it was delicious! I loved the seeds on top and the addition of mustard inside. Yum! I dropped in with my Husband today for a coffee and right away we were greeted by one of the most friendliest person we've met in a while! I've been a longtime fan of Manresa and Manresa Bread, and their pretty little Campbell cafe is no exception. They are an occasional treat for me but I love their pastries... particularly the savory scones, biscuits and the simplicity of their plain croissant. The kouign amman is also delightful, as are their sourdough breads and brioche. See, this is why it's occasional... I will eat ALL THE BREAD if you let me. For lunch during shelter in place I ordered the pork belly banh mi and it was a force to be reckoned with. Generously sized and rich with creamy pate and crisp, meaty, unctuous pork belly... plus plenty of fresh, cool vegetables to add a palate cleansing crunch. I almost wished for a little more tang in the accompanying vinaigrette but I'm not sure. May need to revisit. Ha! I also picked up a produce box while I was there, during the height of pandemic distress, and it was absolutely lovely.. full of fresh fava beans, kale, salad greens, spring onions and more. If they continue to offer it, and you're a fan of surprise vegetables to have fun with, do take advantage of it and get creative with your home cooking. read more

It's unfortunate that Manresa bread seems to have lost their quality. The pastries are not great quality and the service is terrible. I got an almond croissant today that tasted a few days old....the almond paste was gluey and the croissant was dry. It took over 10 minutes to get a cup of black drip coffee, I finally went up to the counter and asked for it..... The staff in both Los Gatos & Campbell are consistently unfriendly and they have the audacity to ask for a minimum 15% tip for counter service?? For what, they don't even bus the tables...... Came here for brunch the other day and we were able to get a table right away. This time I ordered the hash. It was good, but definitely not worth the price. It might've been OK if they would've given a piece of toast with it, but it was somewhat ordinary. Don't get me wrong, the food is good. But $15 for a small piece of avocado toast seems excessive. I really wanted to like this place. Their drinks, pastries and sandwiches looked top notch. The inside dining space was bright and had some seating available. Not too busy for the middle of the week. However, the service was not anything special. That really makes it or breaks the experience. I ordered a couple pastries "for here" and they were not warmed up (and they did not offer to do so). The breakfast potatoes were the best breakfast potatoes on this planet. They have not been available for the last year thus reducing Manresa to a 4 star experience. I still happily eat here. This review is for the croissants. I live nearby and have been coming here since it opened, specifically for the 100% whole wheat bread, which continues to be amazing, and the croissants. Tragically I have noticed the croissant quality going downhill in the last year or so. First, the almond croissant started tasting more like lemon than like almond (!?). Then the plain croissants became super sized and tasteless like everywhere else. Croissants should be buttery and flaky, not giant, overproofed and bland. Why did you change the recipe?? read more

IMHO Was in the neighborhood after dropping a friend off to work, and hoped we'd find street parking available. We scored a spot right across the street shortly before 11 a.m. I knew exactly what I wanted to buy...two kouign amanns ($5 each) and I added a last second splurge on a huge WW chocolate chip/walnut cookie ($4). I think I was lucky to have walked in with no crowds or line waiting to order. This was my first visit here and I definitely will be back, maybe for lunch! I was so excited when I walked by Manresa today after breakfast. I thought, "YUS, I don't have to go to the farmers market tmrrw, I'll just buy a baguette here." I walked in, ogled the decor and the pastries on display and got so excited. I bought my baguette and a kouign amann and made my trip home, daydreaming about slicing that baby up. So I get home and sharpen my bread knife, bc who likes cutting anything with a dull knife? I attempt to slice it and the knife I just sharpened barely made a dent in the crust. I practically had to jump and use my entire body weight to cut through the top layer of crust. I get to the bottom of the bread and it's like the blade is cutting through concrete. Again, I have to use my body weight to cut through this dang crust. For a place that sells shirts that say "All My Friends Are Bread," they must not treat their friends well if they're all rock hard. I wasted the $6 on this bread and I still have to go to the farmers market tmrrw. read more

This is Manresa's third location, and their first café. The breakfast is phenomenal. I love the earthy, fresh flavors. My Macro Grain Bowl w/ Egg was amazing- I'm not sure what type of "mixed grains" they used, but it had a soft cous-cous like texture but despite feeling healthy was extremely yummy. My husband liked his Croissant breakfast sandwich- I wasn't a huge fan of the bell pepper based sauce. We also had the Avocado Toast which came with a mountain of Avocado on amazingly fresh wheat bread. I had my latte with almond milk which was very good. The only thing was they don't quite have the service down. The place was busy on a weekend morning and I found myself bussing the table before us to get a seat. Food and drinks were kind of slow. Finally it's here! Manresa Bread Café is the new kid on the block, and I feel like we've been those people with their faces pressed up to the windows chanting, "Open, open, open..." for months every time we were in Downtown Campbell! After the last Euro café (La PanotiQ) sadly closed up shop, my husband and I wondered what would take its place and were crossing our fingers that it would still be a fresh coffee shop/bakery type place since this little town needed one. Lo and behold our wishes were granted, and not with just any old coffee shop/bakery, but local legends MANRESA BREAD! *jumps for joy* Over the years, those who know have been coming to Downtown Campbell Farmers' Market on Sundays and waiting in line to grab their favorite baked goods, but now you can just walk across the street from where their booth always was and order in or to-go. The new cafe is a bright, casual space with plenty of seating (hooray for them keeping the countertop table facing the windows, and adding a tall community table!). So what's the best thing to go with your favorite baked good? Why, coffee of course! Again in keeping with high quality and supporting great local companies, they're partnered with Verve Coffee Roasters from Santa Cruz (also one of my faves)! You can also buy bags of Verve coffee beans here and a myriad of Manresa branded merchandise. We were told their weekend brunch menu would begin in January 2019. In the meantime, you can just fill your bellies with all their classic baked goods, toasts (yes, they have avocado toast...but be prepared to fork over $12 for one piece of toast!), and various breakfast menu and "After 4pm" offerings. You should also know that they serve wine, beer (on tap and bottles), kombucha, and juices here too! Pretty pricey in general, so maybe more of a once-in-a-while treat, rather than a daily or even few times a week stop, but nonetheless, happy they're here! read more

Manresa...they have the most delicious baked foods going on! I've stopped in the cafe for to go items like bread and chocolate croissants as well as stayed for some light bites. When dining in I've enjoyed avocado toast and monkey bread. The avocado toast has some amazing toppings and I usually add an egg to turn it into more of a meal. The dining room is a tight squeeze and can be hard to grab a seat so come early or ready to pounce on a table. read more

I've been here a couple times. The wait has never been long. I liked the croissants a lot. Specifically the ham and cheese croissant is probably the best I've ever had. It has me liking my lips wishing I had ordered a second. The almond croissant is sweet and has filling. The breakfast tacos are delicious, the portion just right for a light breakfast. The avocado toast looks beautiful though needed a little acidity (squeeze of lemon) and perhaps salt. Its somewhere in between savory and sweet (the pomegranates and syrup push it to sweet, though seemed odd with the sage and other toppings on it). The special ... persimmon ricottato with cracked pistachios was good. The persimmon spread was not too sweet or tart and a great consistency. The ricotta was creamy, though wish it had more tang. the bread though is to die for. next time I'm going to order bread and butter, with a latte and keep it pure :) read more

Quaint little coffee shop in Downtown Campbell- I have come on days that I go to the Farmers Market and it's always a busy spot! They are never empty, there is always someone in line and lots of customers hanging out inside. There isn't always a lot of seating on the weekends because of how busy they get but if you wait long enough, something frees up. I usually order a matcha latte- they are good, but can be a little bitter so I like to add honey to mine for some sweetness. Great Sunday morning coffee stop! read more

I've been meaning to check out Manresa Bread in Los Gatos but every time I passed by I missed their hours by a very short period of time or they sold out of their baked goods I wanted to try. So glad I came earlier and they had a good selection left at their Campbell location! Everything we got tasted amazing! A seasonal Kouign Amann flavor included peppermint hazelnut which tasted amazing with a sweet but not too sweet center. Another really baked good is their monkey bread. I ate their baked goods cold and if it's that good cold imagine if you wait at home to heat it up maybe haha. They also serve Verve coffee here so if you want more than just baked goods they've got you for a good cup of joe too. I haven't tried their cafe food like their avo toast or other meals but that was pre-Covid era haha. So glad I finally stopped by. It's pricy and hard to get due to their short hours of operation (plus they sell out of their baked items often) but it's so worth it! read more

My man and I enjoy ordering brunch from here occasionally. It's pretty pricy , but the quality of food is noticeably higher end. My man enjoys the MB burger (currently not on menu) as well as the Chicken Pesto sandwich. His go-to drink is the drip coffee. I love the Salmon Tartine here, but sometimes it's a miss! Either really small portion, or the salmon is sharper than normal. I really like the salad and pickled veggies they put on top! I always get a vanilla latte , classic but oh so good here as well. Am I the only one that's not a big fan of the pastries here? They are either really sticky or hard! Overall, we will continue returning as our wallets allow. read more

When you're addicted to coffee and rarely try baked goods then decide to try it at Chromatic Coffee (in San Jose) to learn that the baked goods all come from Manresa Bread life is almost complete (life would be much more compete if they served Chromatic Coffee here). I tried their danishes (at this point every flavor) and each time the bread is flaky and melts in your mouth. Butter never tasted so good! The fruit filling for each danish has always been smooth and well blended. The monkey bread was ok. Could use a a bit more cinnamon. It's always loud here because of the abundance of people, coffee magic making, and music so it may not be ideal for studying, but it is perfect for a meet up with friends or families. The customer service here is top notch! I have never had a bad experience here even when I made a mistake with my order. They were always very willing to remake my drink. Shout out the your staff here for how nice they are! I can never take a picture of the baked goods here because I eat them before I remember. (It's that good!) read more

There are so many reasons why Manresa does not get a good review - Underwhelming Chocolate croissant: If you suffer from an addiction to chocolate, go to manresa- the croissant feels and tastes like homeopathic medicine. Underfilled chocolate with an unpleasant eggy smell on the top layer- yech! Yes I no longer like chocolate, thanks to manresa! I dropped 4 pounds! Ice cold pastries- no options to warm up a simple almond croissant. It feels dense . Enjoy eating a brick standing near a construction site on a cold wintery morning? Weird staff- While ordering, I was asked "do you have a name?" Darn, I am an immigrant I get it- but well I think universally even in the remotest parts of the world a human would typically name even their farm animals. Heck even elon musk who is from outer space named his daughter e2d2xalpha. So I did not have a name to give him unfortunately. Bag shortage- I urge you to experiment: after ordering two pasteries and awarding a mind bending 30% tip, they WILL MOST DEFINITELY put two pastries in a single paper bag, with a 99.999% probability, while staring you and your partner down. We Are Not Cows. We cannot eat our pastries from the same bag. I know you guys working the registers are young, but please at least bother to put in the effort to think about the practical approach to eating food. Coffee quality and wait times- it looks to me like they have second hand espresso machines picked up from somewhere. I have tried numerous times at their campbell and flagship location- Espresso is sour, yech. If you're charging so much money, pls dial in the shots. Or put a disclaimer- espresso quality not guaranteed. I've waited nearly 25 minutes for a cortado. Not worth it guys. We've came to Manresa twice during covi19 and it's amazing both times! It's easy to order online and schedule for the pick up ready in half an hour. The first time we came to pick up some sandwiches for a late lunch around 1:30. We ordered the pork belly banh mi and the Italian sandwich when we were on the way and by the time we got there - it was ready for pick up! How convenient! The sandwiches were huge! And OMG delicious!! The bread is so fresh, crunchy on the outside and soft on the inside and all the flavors were complex and go super well together. We both devoured our sandwiches sitting in the car....perfection! The second time we came for breakfast before a hike. We ordered the bacon egg and cheese biscuit and a slice of the quiche. The biscuit was heavy but in a really good way especially if you're about to go on a 10 mile hike! An awesome breakfast sandwich all around. The quiche was also very well made. Hit or miss for me. I mainly only come here for coffee, but ive only had a really good coffee here once and I'm not quite sure what kind of concoction was made as the barista took the initiative to try and please my pallet. I tend to like my coffee strong (espresso really) with a splash of milk and light sweetness. Lattes usually don't cut it as they tend to be more on the milky side, so I guess that's a me problem but I do appreciate that the baristas do try to meet my expectations sometimes, and like I mentioned, sometimes it's a miss. The flavor is really good tho when they do get it right. One item I really do like is their avocado toast. The time I had it, it came with arugula, some seeds, and I think some sprouts and tomatoes if I remember correctly and it was sooo delicious. It was a little on the pricey side however. I've also had their bread and croissants which never disappoint but for that, I'd recommend ordering online as the wait/line can be pretty long sometimes, especially on weekends. read more
