Butter chicken rice and bagara baingan in thr back
Marisa M.

So happy we stumbled on this place. We were in the mood for warm and comforting Indian food and we found it here! They have a couple of tables outside where we sat. We were brought water - water bottles to be exact (no charge!) right away. I got the butter chicken and my boyfriend got bagara baingan. We also got naan stuffed with potatoes. The bagara baingan is an eggplant dish with rich spices and it was so good. He really enjoyed it and I actually liked it more than the Butter Chicken. My butter chicken was a bit too spicy for me and some pieces of chicken where chewy. It didn't stop me from eating it though and still dipped plenty of rice in the sauce. They also brought us more rice when they saw it was low. Customer server is 120%. The owner/manager I believe served us and he was so kind. He also brought us out the chutney my boyfriend asked about and didn't charge us extra. The naan has such a good flavor and was crispy and had a thin perfect layer of potato filling. Will definitely come back and eat outside again or order food. Come and try!

I had the shrimp and noodles and they were yummy

Chicken Tikka

I was super hungry today and wanted to try something new in my area. I was excited to finally have some authentic Indian food, rather than my usual go to- Taste of India at Newport mall. I ordered the chicken tikka, and I was expected to be blown away by flavors as I usually am when I eat Indian food. (Also, I think it is important to mention that I have had a good enough variety of Indian foods growing up, as my mom's boss is Indian and would usually treat us to food.) I paid around $20 dollars which I did not mind... I came home thrilled to eat my food and my first bite was sooooo sad. Oily. Dry. Flavorless. (This sounds so dramatic but I need you to feel what I feel lol). This chicken is so under-seasoned, the cilantro sauce was alright, but the worst part about this is that half of my food was burnt. It seems as if the cooks were in a rush as closing hours were approaching when I came in. I waited for 20 minutes for some burnt chicken. No matter who your clientele is, or the hour of the day, you should give 100% into whatever you are cooking. After not eating all day I am high-key mad that I wasted 20 beans on this when I could have gotten some Taco Bell.

Saag Paneer

Came here on a Saturday night and was able to get seated immediately. Service was friendly and quick. We ordered: Lamb rogan josh: tender pieces of lamb in a tangy curry sauce. I was told the chef cooks the lamb for 3-4 hours to achieve that level of tenderness. However, the curry sauce was a little too oily for me. $17 Saag paneer: my favorite out of everything we ordered. Smooth spinach in big chunks of paneer. $14 Chicken tikka masala: chicken breast marinated in a creamy and delicious tomato based sauce. I could drink the sauce by the cupful! $15 The food is quite pricey, especially compared to what you can get at journal square. However, they have a $40 Groupon deal (dine-in only, not valid for lunch buffet), which made the prices comparable to JSQ.

Delicious Indian food!! I'd normally just order regular samosas, but instead opted for an open faced samosa dish (blanking on the name right now) which had crumbled pieces of samosa topped with chickpeas, tomatoes and some sort of crunchy topping. So unique and definitely something that I'd order again. For our mains my fiance and I shared chicken bryani and chicken tikka masala. Tikka masala is always my favorite and this was no exception. The sauce was thick and creamy and there was a generous portion of chicken. The bryani was good but I wish there was a little more chicken and less rice. These dishes were similar so next time I'd probably order one of their seafood or veg dishes - the menu had a ton and they all sounded great. Fair prices, friendly service and BYOB so make sure to bring your favorite bottle of wine. The space is large and inviting with beautiful decor. When you walk in there is a large glass case with enclosed flames. Solid Indian food in Jersey City - I'll be back for sure!

Chicken Tikka Masala Garlic Naan Lamb Biryani

Everything we had was absolutely amazing! One of the best Indian place I've been to. Will visit again for sure! The garlic naan is to die for!

SO MUCH POTENTIAL: So I order from mantra often via seamless. We love their food but lately there is a reoccurring thing that I hope Mantra fixes. We love their chicken tikka but for $17.00, I opened up our takeout container and i sifted our the chicken and counted nine (9) pieces of small cut pieces of chicken and majority of the rest was sauce. It's like they throw all that sauce in there only to cover how much chicken they threw into it. Mantra, If you're reading this, you have so much potential because the food is delicious but consider making sure the costumer gets what they paid for.

With that in mind, I don't say this lightly: this restaurant delivers the best Indian food I have ever had. The highlight of the evening was, without question, the lamb chops. Perfectly cooked, exquisitely spiced, and unbelievably tender--they were quite simply the best I have ever tasted. Every bite was a masterclass in balance and flavour, elevating a familiar dish into something truly unforgettable. What makes this place exceptional goes beyond the food alone. The service was warm, attentive, and genuinely thoughtful--striking that rare balance between professionalism and personal connection. From the moment we arrived to the time we left, every detail was handled with care and pride. The ambiance only added to the experience: elegant yet welcoming, with an atmosphere that encourages you to relax and fully savour the moment. It felt less like dining out and more like being hosted. In every respect--food, service, ambiance, and that all-important personal touch--this restaurant operates at a world-class level. A truly outstanding experience and one I will be returning to again and again.

After an hour of waiting for our food, the three tables around us who arrived after us already got their food and were nearly done with their meal. We ask about this twice, and each time the owner says all three tables "pre-ordered" their food. I was confused and asked every table if this was true and obviously it was not. Before leaving, we confront the owner about the inconsistencies in his story, but he just double downs on his lie, alleging that we don't understand how a restaurant is run. For some reason, he even started to yell at the busgirl who was trying to get him to apologize? In addition to holding us hostage for an hour and continued lying, he tries to make the racist point that Indian food is more sophisticated and takes longer to prepare than other types of Asian food. I feel there are certain standards in the NYC service industry given the competition, and this was a confusing and unacceptable experience. The food was admittedly good, but not good enough for them to have the attitude they had.

We finally got to try it out and I really loved the beautiful design, elaborate lighting and nostalgic pictures inside. Even the bathrooms were tastefully decorated to match the very Indian theme. Amritsari Chole Tikka Murgh malai tikka Mutton sukka with butter naan and garlic naan Achari chicken with basmati rice Rabdi with lychee. Everything was beautifully presented and had so much flavor. The butter naan and mutton were some of my favorites. I am not someone that can handle a lot of spice and I found the food very spicy but I had to eat it because it was so good. My friends are Asian and seemed fine with the spice level. The rabdi dessert was the perfect ending to the meal. This was so creamy and delicious. I would return just for this dessert alone. The only shortcoming were the drinks. They looked very cool but the flavors were just not good. The delicious food and ambiance made up for the drinks. However, we never really got to it, having been busy exploring the Semmas and Bungalows of the city. On a cold Saturday evening my partner and I decided to give Indian Accent a shot - got rather last minute reservations over the phone. They were kind enough to accommodate us for a 7 pm slot, and once we got there we were seated immediately. We chose the four course menu, and found each course to be better than the one before! The shorba (soup) and garlic kulcha amuse bouche was a nice touch to get things started - loved the tiny terracotta mugs. Proceeded onto the shakarkandi chaat and the chilly pork roti - the former reminding me of the delectable street food in Delhi winters with the latter being a very good Indian rif on birria tacos. The star of the show for me was the Tofu medu vada - so unique and flavorful and melt in the mouth! I've not had anything quite like it before. My partner had the wagyu kebab that he said was excellent! For mains we had the chicken malai and the paneer - both tasty, but by this point we were already so full, and had to get most of the mains to go. But because there's always room for dessert, for our final course we scarfed down doda barfi with ice-cream and sticky toffee banana pudding - both of which were finger licking delish! Our service was great too - Ty our server was so nice and had the best recommendations. I'd have never gone for the tofu medu vada among all the other options and he urged me to, and it really turned out to be the highlight of my meal. The cocktails were good too. All in all, I think this is such a nice upscale Indian dining spot for a night out in the city. Having tried most of the other trending newer spots, i think Indian Accent sits right among the top! I'd highly recommend and cannot wait to be back!

Surprisingly quiet for a Saturday. $46 for a 2-course brunch is a great deal for an elevated meal, especially since the two courses come with a side ("accompaniment"). Quick heads up if you've been to the original in New Delhi, while they share a name, the New York experience pales in comparison. New Delhi is a full tasting menu with bold, unique flavors and presentation. New York is much more westernized, a fusion fit for the American palate. Service was consistent throughout, though not the most helpful when it came to menu questions - don't expect much guidance if you're trying to decide between dishes. They start you off with a tiny mug of pumpkin soup, creamy and delicious. The burrata comes as a big ball of cheese with crispy lotus root for scooping. The dal with naan as your accompaniment is a generous portion and the dal is beautifully flavored. The tawa paneer has a lovely presentation but the flavor didn't stand out. Coorg black pork was moist and paired perfectly with the cracklings. Best part of the meal was the Truman Bazaar cocktail - Truman vodka, suze, and tomato foam. Sweet, bitter, and spicy all at once - a genuinely unique combination.

Our goal was to avoid anything too spicy, and we were able to do that while still getting a lot of flavor. *Eral Thokku (Tiger prawns): Recommended by several people at the restaurant. The prawns were cooked well, and the sauce was rich with a bit of texture and some spice. *Gunpowder Dosa: The most fun dish of the evening. A big portion, crispy on the outside with a very soft, curry flavored potato filling. Comes with a variety of sauces that makes it easy to keep eating. *Roadside Kalan (Mushrooms): Another strong dish. Fried battered mushrooms on top with a spicy mushroom stew underneath. *Annasi Pazham Scallop: Good, but one of the less memorable dishes of the evening. *Valiya Chemmeen Moilee (Lobster Tail): Very rich and flavorful, similar to a curry sauce. We were quite full by the time this came, so it was a bit hard to fully enjoy it. Service was very friendly and helpful. They walked us through the menu in detail, which was especially useful since we were not familiar with many of the dishes. We also had to wait a bit longer for our table, and they brought us glasses of champagne, which was a very nice gesture. The ambiance is fun, lively, and comfortable.
