Ambiance: Upon first glance at the establishment, you wouldn't know that this is a New Orleans style restaurant. It is a well-kept property, and the outside of the building is neat and clean. They offer valet parking so you see a buildup of vehicles waiting to be parked. Which makes the parking lot seem contested. When you walk into the restaurant, you're greeted by friendly staff and the aroma of spices. There is a bar on the left that is well kept. Service: The service staff was very friendly and inviting. We were seated and attended to very fast. They offer a paper menu of food, drinks, and desserts. I came with a party of 33 and we were seated in various tables in no particular order. Food: Now to the main event. We tried the cornbread, fried green tomatoes, red beans and rice, bbq shrimp, burnt ends, southern fried catfish, bread pudding, tres Leche carrot cake, and the beignets. The cornbread was great, and it came with two different types of butters one sweet and one savory. The portion was large. The fried green tomatoes were tasty as well. The red beans and rice were okay. It was a little dull as far as expected flavor. But manageable. The bbq shrimp was paired with grits. It was also okay. There was something a little off as far as how the plate came together. It was more sweet than it was bbq but again manageable. The burnt ends said they were cooked for 17 hours, and I find that hard to believe. They were paired with cabbage and grits. The cabbage had a strong vinegar taste. That's not what I was expecting at all. The best dish on this plate was the grits. The catfish was paired with dirty rice, some kind of slaw, and an orange colored sauce. The slaw followed the cabbage flavor with vinegar. It almost tasted pickled. The dirty rice was spicy but dull on the flavor. I didn't enjoy the sauce and felt like it touched everything on the plate, so I was forced to consume it with every bite. The catfish was delicious and probably the highlight of the night. I ordered it fried hard, and it came out so crispy. The bread pudding was delicious. It was a decent size portion. The carrot cake was lacking in many areas. There was an overwhelming taste of liquor, I'm guessing rum. The candied pecans were tasty, but there was no flavor of the milks in this dish. It was disappointing. Beignets are a staple dessert in New Orleans. At this restaurant, they were violated. They were flat and crispy. It's almost like a cracker with sugar on it. It reminded me of an Italian donut from olive garden but worse. Much worse. Bottomline, if you're looking for a taste of authentic New Orleans, you're not going to find it here. read more

Made an afternoon ressie at the bar for two. Had to place a $10 deposit to do so. If it bothers you then you should probably be looking elsewhere. Zero issue on our side. Food, newer menu release was fantastic. Tried the Pitmaster gumbo. Recommend putting a chunk of their specialty cornbread in to mop up the broth toward the end. Brussels sprouts were tasty not as spicy as we were expecting. Entrees were DELICIOUS. Smoked pork chop and Burnt Ends w Polenta. Finished w Beignets and an off menu drink (Creole Coffee). I have been wanting to go to the Maple Tree Inn since they were at their old location. The place has a great ambiance that has some character which is always a plus. The drinks are flavorful, I had a monk's swizzle which was delicious and boozy. To start, we shared the beet salad and cornbread, the salad was nice and fresh and the cornbread was hot, melting the flavored butters. For our entree, I had the redfish étouffée and she had the bbq shrimp. Both yummy dishes but when I go back, and I definitely will, I will try something else, possibly the burnt ends. read more

Amazing. If you are vegan, there is a very thoughtful and tasty menu for you! Gluten free? No problem! There's a menu for you! Omni? Guess what?! You can eat everything! The drink menu is ever evolving, but you can't go wrong. Everything tastes fresh and well curated. We had the vegan voodoo nuts which were so flavorful. The spice in the "sausage" was perfect, as was the texture. The vegan cornbread muffins fell apart, but half the fun was picking up the pieces using the sweet potato butter as a glue. I had the vegan boil which had so many vegetables! Again, the seasoning was perfect, and the portion was huge. The service was fantastic. They even asked about any food allergies up front! The music was very complimentary to the restaurant. A mix of Motown (nice to hear in a different state being played so much!), brass band and good old New Orleans jazz. We chose Fried Green Tomatoes, Hickory Buttered BBQ Shrimp, and the Crabcakes appetizer. All were amazing. I went with the Burnt Ends and I'm not sure which part of the dish I loved the most. Husband had the Fried Chicken, and WOW. That was the most tender, juicy chicken I've ever had. Dessert (we indulged, sure) was Banana Foster, Peach Bread Pudding, but the BEIGNETS & CHOCOLATE PECAN PIE totally stole the show. First time going and I ordered a few different things. Everything was very good overall. The Fried Catfish was extremely tasty! Didn't care for the Grits too much. Ribs were very good. This review is based on just two items, the greens and the seafood gumbo. I slowly cook my greens with onions, garlic and smoked meat, usually turkey or ham for a couple of hours, All they did with these greens was throw in a bunch of garlic, and cook it for about 30 minutes. They were dry and tough with no broth. Honestly Popeyes are wayyyy better. I like my gumbo with a dark Roux shrimp, scallops or crab meat. This had a very light Roux with shrimp and a lot of muscles which i think are nasty. Hopefully the entrees will be better when I go back for second visit. read more

I have been going to Maple Tree Inn since they were in Old Blue Island and "the Walrus" was still in the kitchen. My experience last night makes me question if I'll ever go back. We had a big party due to a small conference. In fairness we had a reservation for a week to dine inside the restaurant on Thursday, October 15th. However due to an emergency, we had to reschedule. I went on Opentable to schedule for next day. What I didn't realize was that the outdoor reservation was for outside the restaurant. Emily, the manager, called us to inform us there might be rain at 6:30pm. I asked her if we came earlier could we be seated inside. She gave us the impression that this was possible. We arrived at 5:30pm and were escorted to the patio, where it was cold and started to rain. I could have dealt with that, but the cherry on top was when Emily came over to our table to tell our party that she didn't say anything about sitting inside and she hopes we stay for the server's sake. We left after appetizers. Emily showed no concern for us or accommodating our party. Her comments to us came off as self serving. If you were going to keep us outside there should have been heaters and umbrellas, or you should've comped us something. The only thing colder than last night's weather was the customer service. Our first visit to maple tree. Service was excellent. It's a Cajun restaurant. I had the shrimp boil which was very tasty and just the right heat. My wife had the vegan jambalaya which she really liked. This is one of the very few restaurants in the area with an actual vegan menu so props to them. We will definitely be back! read more

Restaurant has amazing ambience, the waiters we're extremely nice and for most part food was good, drinks too. However my steak while I ordered medium it was tough and my sister n law rice was over cooked. To be fair, they did give her new rice which was much better and I didn't send my steak back because it was close to closing time and I didn't wanna be to much of a nuisance.
