Absolutely delicious - my friend was not a fan of her matcha, so wonderful Maria whipped up what I ordered since it was so yummy! Food wise the herb cream cheese is so good and salty especially on a bagel. Good spot to stop by for my coffee fans who want to try more local spots. read more

Major disappointment. Most of the items we attempted to order were out/not available despite ordering at 11am prior to any major lunch rush. We ended up ordering a kids grilled cheese meal that was $6 and equated to half a sandwich on thin bread with a single slice of cheese and smothered in herb butter, despite the menu not stating it was a half sandwich or the herb butter. My $11 Greek salad was mostly the white stalky bits of iceberg lettuce, and minuscule bits of onion and cucumber sparsely added; with bits of lettuce and cucumber being ends/refuse that should not have been served. The hummus and pita side was the driest, sandiest hummus I've ever had in a restaurant, with sparse pita cut unevenly and thrown on the plate. The last member of my party ended up not even ordering as the 3 different items they attempted to order were out/not available. We won't be ordering food here again. Beware. read more

Really cute and quaint corner coffee house is hard to pass up. There is plenty of room to laptop your way with work and windows around to people watch. A section of snacks for your pooch and even ice cream in a variety of flavors for the kiddos! You can even pay it forward by paying in advance for a stranger to have a coffee on you... from your favorite neighborhood teacher or yoga instructor to the stay at home mom out for a stroll with the children to someone right there in the shop. The staff is friendly and everyone has a smile for you here! The menu selection has an array of choices to offer...even for the Vegan! Need a little CBD... there's a few fruit flavors of the carbonated kind to tickle your palate! The noise level is low enough to have a phone conversation without everyone hearing what you said! What a fantastic place my family and I are traveling from San Diego California cross country. We were so excited when we found this place, which has healthy options and organic coffee. My son Enjoyed the chai tea latte my wife loved the cinnamon roll latte and I had a double espresso, all was fantastic. We also really enjoyed the food a wonderful oasis on our long journey we enjoyed the smothered buffalo chicken burritos, and the ham and cheese burrito. All were fantastic and the people were wonderful. We also loved participating in the pay it Forward board where you can buy coffee for someone in the future, that alone left us feeling fantastic. read more

I liked them okay though I found the hospitality to be somewhat mildly pretentious and on another visit mildly quarrelsome with some other elderly customer. Was off putting, really, watching some self important "barista" quibble with an older women. So, I'm no coffee snob though I try to visit two or three different mom and pop coffee shops a week everywhere, wherever I go, which is pretty much all over the country, since about 2009 or so. Sad to report that with the new name (Maplewood deli) the food seems to have declined. I ordered the bucko burrito and it was grossly under seasoned. I don't think salt was used. Too heavy on the black beans that lacked any flavor, bland scrambled eggs that seemed like they may have been made in the microwave(?), and it was super sloppy, with filling spilling out both ends. I was there for some time getting work done and nothing coming out of the kitchen looked all that good. Nice space and the goo ball I got as a treat later on was delish, but I'd skip this spot if you're looking for a meal [with flavor]. That said - staff is incredibly friendly, tasty selection of teas, and bright atmosphere for conducive to productivity. read more

Had some time to kill before a meeting in Maplewood recently and grumbles in my tummy guided me to Foundation Grounds Coffeehouse & Cafe. I had heard of this coffee shop many times, but never had the opportunity to check them out, so this seemed like the perfect opportunity to grab a bite and some caffeine to take me through the rest of my workday. Foundation Grounds Coffeehouse & Cafe is located on the main strip in Maplewood's business district. Parking can be somewhat tricky, and I'm not going to dock them a star for the crazy drivers who zip up and down Manchester. Be cautious when you're opening your car doors, drivers go entirely too fast and pay little attention. I personally like to park on side streets when heading to any Maplewood location (Missouri drivers are preeeeetty bad.) The interior of Foundation Grounds Coffeehouse & Cafe is pretty much what you'd expect from an independently owned coffee joint. Nothing flashy. Nothing over the top themed or anything. It felt like a great place to bring a laptop and get work done or meet with a friend for a laid back lunch. The customer service was out of this world. The baristas were so friendly and so accommodating. I feel that in the coffee world, baristas feel pressured to be grumpy or arrogant. That was NOT the case at Foundation Grounds Coffeehouse & Cafe. The woman who took my order complimented my fun shorts. As I stood in their cafe waiting for my order, I overheard her also paying other customers compliments. It felt very genuine and added to the experience for sure. I ordered a ham sandwich which came with chips. It was good! Felt like the ingredients were fresh and high quality. My companion and I stopped in on a Tuesday morning to try the coffee and food, and left feeling satisfied in both the food and drink areas. The food was very comforting and filling, even if it wasn't the best black bean burger and breakfast sandwich ever, it hit the spot and we would both be willing to visit again. However, if I went again I would order a different coffee, I tried their Sundust turmeric latte but did not care for it. I'm not sure if it had espresso in it either which is what I wanted anyways. However my husband's dirty chai latte was very good so I think they make good coffee drinks, I just didn't like the sundust! This is my new favorite STL cafe! I had the sweet potato burrito, and my husband had the biscuits and gravy. Both were excellent and SO well-priced. We also had flavored cold brews. I got the honey-cardamom and he had the mocha. Also delicious. There were a variety of delicious looking pastries on display that I can't wait to come back to try. They even had free in-house made dog treats. We snagged one for our puppy, and he loved it. The atmosphere of this coffeehouse is fantastic. There is outside seating for patrons who want to soak up some sunshine or bring their furry friends. Inside, there is a decent amount of seating and access to wifi. I spent a couple of hours working here and felt so much happier and more productive than I would be at home. A nice little corner coffee shop in the heart of Maplewood. My daughter and I stopped in on a Saturday afternoon and enjoyed cups of coffee and muffins. The staff was patient and helpful as we made our selections. The space is clean and inviting and a nice place to hang out for a while. She had a mocha latte and I tried a seasonal special that day: an apple butter latte. She had a blueberry muffin, and I enjoyed a vegan pumpkin muffin (which was delicious!). I ordered a honey-lavender late and a breakfast sandwich. They were both prepared quickly. The late was made beautifully, however it was too lavender-y for me. Next time I will order a regular late. Updated Review: The manager and owner were very responsive to my previous review about my expectation of iced lattes. I learned that they have been using cold press toddy for 9 years as their standard due to customer preference and lower acidity levels/smoother taste. I brought up my concerns about them not advertising this for someone who is not one of their regulars and they validated and listened to my concerns. For those of you wanting a traditional latte you will need to continue to request espresso since this will continue to be their standard. I'm happy to go back and try it again with espresso this time. I appreciate the craftsmanship that goes into pulling the perfect espresso shot. And absolutely make sure you pair that with one of their pastries. Be adventurous and try one that's vegan even if it's not your style you won't be disappointed. read more

I spent an entire day here at Fogro on a Sunday from open to close. Sunday is the day to come to people watch, get some work done, and take advantage of the non-metered parking plus no 2 hour limit! Pros: 1) Loyalty points from Square Up 2) Bottomless Coffee 3) Loose-leaf Tea 4) Delicious Scones (lots of vegan options) and after 2pm-close, HH and half off scones and cinnamon buns 5) Chicken Salad sandwich. There isn't a lot of mayo and the bread is delicious. You can choose a side of chips, fruit, or a side salad. I love the side salad dressing. 6) They are really well-known for their honey lavender latte. I could even get it with almond milk. I liked it even though I'm not a huge fan of lattes and lavender. 7) 2 bathrooms! 8) Lots of seating that is inside and out. Although - it does get busy and can easily fill-up. 9) Stella customer service 10) Large menu of drinks, juices (love my veggie juices, bakery items, and real food! Con: 1) The wifi is fine, but somethings it just needs to be rebooted. This problem happened twice in a day. Fogro is awesome. Wow! So I have been hearing and reading about this place and I've been very excited to give it a try. This morning, I happen to be in the neighborhood and saw ample parking in the area so I decided to stop by and check it out. There were a fair number of people enjoying their morning caffeine and breakfast but someone took my order right away. I decided to try a 20oz mocha latte with almond milk and something off of their Brunch Burrito menu: Ben's Ham and Cheese. I wanted it to go because I only live about 3-5 minutes away and I just wanted to get home to my dog. He asked me if I wanted some sour cream and salsa so I said yes. I usually skip the sour cream altogether but I have had a busy morning (considering it's my day off!) and I figured, I should live a little. The drink came fast enough. I tasted it and was blown away. I love coffee and I am in constant search for great coffee, mocha, cappuccinos and what-have-yous. In fact, I always order my coffee online from the islands just because I get used to certain things and decide that I can't live without them. Now that I have had Foundation Grounds, I don't think I can live without! Okay, perhaps I am exaggerating and I might struggle to live without it for several years but it would be torture. All I can say is, great mocha. I will definitely be craving this and will have to come back for more! Now on to the food. I came home and unboxed my burrito excitedly! It was neatly wrapped in a foil wrap and on the side of the box are the sourcream and salsa containers. They gave me enough of everything and even some napkins and plastic utensil. Very thoughtful. Had I been heading to work with my food or somewhere I will have no access to utensils, it definitely will come in handy! My burrito was still warm and when I cut it in half, all the gooey melted cheese started dripping off of it. It was quite scrumptious and the ham, cheese, egg ratio was wonderful. I was definitely getting a good proportion of ham, cheese and egg in every bite. It was even better with their fresh-tasting salsa and sour cream which has been infused with some herbs. I'm on a gruesome diet right now so I went in for a coffee fix and was tortured by the tantalizing muffins, granola balls, quiche, salads, quesadillas. I ordered the 16oz Lavender latte with almond milk ($5 and some change) which was delicious. This place has plenty of seating and gives off a hip-eco-chic-mom & pop type feel (if that makes any sense). Kinda reminds me of The Mud House. Was looking for a cold brew coffee and fell in love. The staff at Foundation Grounds really worked with us, talking through options and recommendations. My friend had done her homework on cold brew coffee and was able to talk at length with the staff. I ordered a 16oz cold brew Moonstone iced coffee. I also has a biscotti with lavender- yum. What a wonderful little cafe in the heart of Maplewood! They serve breakfast dishes like quiche, a variety of lunch time soups, salads, sandwiches, pastries, coffee, teas etc. The decor is very comfortable, inviting and homey. (In a good way) The business puts great importance on organic food, fair trade coffees and teas, recycling, and using locally sourced products. I highly commend that! This day my friend and I were on a quest for cold pressed coffee as that has become my go-to summer time drink. The counter staff was extremely knowledgable about the cold-pressed coffee they sell. One worker took the time to explain the difference and the process. It was quite interesting and he was a doll for answering all my questions (yes, I've got a bit of a barista crush now). I fell into this place by accident (was desperate for WiFi and air conditioning) and I'm so glad I did. It's right on the corner in a neat part of Maplewood, with ample free parking behind the building. It's super cute inside; feels very cozy - like you've entered someone's living room or apartment. I got a blueberry smoothie which was three simple ingredients (blueberries, banana, apple juice) and was so perfect after walking around in the heat. I was also stoked to see a ton of vegan pastry options in their bakery case, so I also got a slice of vegan lemon poppyseed loaf which was also delicious. I stumbled upon this place looking for good chocolate chip cookies. I peeped the menu and was even more excited that they had pesto paninis so I wanted to give it a try. I went and decided to get the chicken pesto panini to go and a chocolate chip cookie. The sandwich was a bit smaller than I had imagined but for the price point, I guess it was reasonable.
