Authentic Dak Galbi restaurant in Ktown! I came here with two friends on a week night and our experience here was pretty good. We ordered two orders of the spicy stir-fried chicken with cheese and it was good! The dish consists of dark meat chicken with rice cakes and veggies all tossed in a spicy sauce which you can choose based on your heat preference. The servers cook the stir-fry in front of you. For two orders, the portion size was good for our group of 3. The chicken was meaty and juicy. I also liked how it wasn't fatty. My only critique is I wish the chicken came pre-seasoned/marinated. The chicken itself wasn't that flavorful and the only flavor came from the saucy coating. I also loved the rice cakes in the dish which had a soft and chewy texture, but there wasn't too many of them. We also added on a cheese which is a must. The cheese was melty and rich and meshed all the ingredients together. Once you finish a good amount of the chicken, they also give the option to make fried rice with the leftovers. It was pretty good and the rice soaked up all the flavors and textures of the Dak Galbi. They also provide refreshing and cool banchan which was a good balance to the rich and spicy Dak Galbi. The interior and service gives a very mom and pop shop feel. It's comfy and when we went there weren't too many people which was nice. For parking, there's a small parking lot outside with limited spots. Overall, I enjoyed my experience here. The value for the food was good, so I would come back again in the future.

I have no complaints about this place at all! Not only are their portion sizes huge, but they give a perfect amount of chicken & veggies with their Dakgalbi. They also cook the food in front of you & you can request them to adjust the spice level. It almost feels like a hole in the wall spot because it is slightly hidden, but I do think it receives the recognition it deserves. I highly recommend going here when you go to ktown.

I am so surprised that I never see this place listed on Reddit for LA eats/korean food. This definitely makes it seem like it's more of a hidden gem compared to the other highly raved Korean restaurants. There was no wait (arrived about an hour before closing on a sunday) and the waitress we had was so much fun and efficient! Food came out quickly and it was entertaining to watch how everything was cooked and when different ingredients were added. I highly recommend paying additional for the cheese (you can request to have it added on just one side!) and the fried rice at the end!

My friend took me here on a Friday night and I am always in the mood for some hearty Korean food. When we walked in it wasn't busy at all but by the time we ended dinner at about 8 PM the line was out the door. It is small inside and it feels like a hole in the wall. The menu is simple and they're known for their dak galbi so we got that. This place tastes very authentic and the portion was generous. The chicken to cabbage ratio was perfect. You can also control how spicy you want it. And the best part? The price was great! I'd recommend this place if you want to try more authentic dak galbi. Come hungry!

Best dak galbi in LA. Very satisfying meal. Amazing cooking, helpful staff, cozy atmosphere.

This is a dak-galbi place (think a Korean style chicken stir fry) located in a slightly more low key part of Koreatown, which means we were easily able to find 2 street parkings right by the restaurant at 7 pm on a Friday night (something miraculous in and of itself. We did not make reservations (and I don't think they offer as we looked into it) but were able to easily be seated upon arrival. This place is frequented by Korean tourists and I have no doubt it's popular on Naver restaurant reviews. Dak Galbi w/ extra veggies, rice cakes, and cheese: 4/5, okay so admittedly our fault I think what would have made this a 5/5 was if we asked for it to be made spicy. We decided as a group to order no spice and while it was still well seasoned and flavorful, it was missing that extra oomph.

real baddies know what's up dakgalbi is literally comfort

I first found about this place a couple years back, and I come at least once a year every year since. I first found it because I wanted dakgalbi, as I was missing Korea and this had been my favorite dish from when I lived there and I looked for a spot and I found this place, and I love it! You won't regret it, and make sure to leave some chicken there for when they come to mix the rice and seaweed

Solid chicken bbq place. I love how you can customize your meal with the spice level, adding extra veggies, cheese and noodles. My favorite part at the end is when they add the rice and mix it with dried seaweed. Additional perks: free parking, the ladies cook your food for you, and you can request bibs if you don't want your clothes to get dirty.

Got the chicken dak galbi and it was amazing! A little hot to eat but makes perfect for Korean comfort food. It's a very Korean place, so I love the old school vibes I get from here as a Korean American - it makes me feel like I'm at home~ it's a good place to come at night if you just want to relax and chill. I don't drink, but I imagine this would go really well with a couple drinks for those who do. Parking is tight so you have to find street parking most likely, which shouldn't be too bad! I'm giving it the rating I do based on what type of genre this place is.

food? * dakgalbi (4.8/5): comes with rice cake, sweet potatoes, perillla leaves and plenty of chicken. 2 servings fed 3 people (two college guys and one girl LOL). seasoning was well done, and can be adjusted to how spicy you want it to be. note: minimum 2 orders per party! * fried rice: rice and seaweed gets added at the end. crispy if you wait a bit, and very filling! vibes? not a lot of tables, but very hole in the wall vibe. parking lot is small and street parking is hard to find, but worth the food here. good for sharing! come back? yes! homey vibe.

    Suhyun K.

If you are in the mood for dak galbi, this is your place in ktown. You can adjust the spicy limit (just tell your waitress), and they cook fried rice at the end for you with a couple of banchan. Its honestly a hole in the wall, so parking is super limited.

    Dakgalbi. Looks so good

I wanted give this place 3.5stars but dakgalbi for 4star!!! Reason why I gave 3.5star from total experience. Interior or something. This is my first time here and I love this place. Dakgalbi was my favorite menu in Korea but I couldn't find any of good place to eat and finally I found this place :) I went to here around 9pm and I thought we need hurry to eat but they didn't push us or didn't made uncomfortable while we eating. Emo was really kindly and asking to us need something and spicy level. We wanted order extra vegetables but emo kindly said to us don't have to order extra because enough vegetables. This place interior was old and nothing modern or not a cozy place but Dakgalbi was good and I thought best place in K-town for Dakgalbi. If you looking for Dakgalbi, should go this place!!

I really wanted authentic Korean food that was not kbbq and not tofu and this place delivered! This restaurant is in a small strip mall. The strip mall has other Korean food options. They have a valet parking system of sorts but we didn't pay, we self parked. The attendant told us we were fine. It was approx 9pm when we arrived and also a week night. I have no idea how much valet parking is here. We were a small party of two. Upon arrival, we were notified they were out of RICE. Um..what?? That's a good problem (for them to have) but not for consumers. I feel this really limited our options to just soup. I honestly didn't want soup but there wasn't much else we could order. The bowls were large and came out piping hot. It was a satisfying meal and not too heavy. The price point was on the pricey side. Our waiter told us business has not been the same post covid. Some dishes are between $40-$60. I asked for a soup and they were able to make it less spicy. My friend got a soup with dumplings in it. He put a good amount of soy sauce to give the broth some life. Also, the banchan is on point. We asked for a refill and devoured the second portions. If you wanna impress friends with Korean food, bring them here! Its a casual place.

From the moment the Korean-style spare ribs arrived at the table, it was clear this was a dish worth savoring. Each rib bore a beautifully charred exterior--deeply caramelized without a hint of bitterness--offering that irresistible smoky aroma the moment it was placed before us. The glaze was nothing short of spectacular. A perfect balance of sweet and spicy, it clung to the meat with a glossy sheen that promised flavor in every bite. There was just enough heat to make your taste buds sit up and pay attention, but it never overwhelmed the deeper, richer notes of the sweet components. But what truly set these ribs apart was the texture. Beneath the charred surface lay meat so tender it practically fell off the bone with the gentlest tug of a fork. Each bite was juicy and succulent, the result of careful cooking and a respect for quality ingredients. Ham Ji Park, you will be missed. Thank you for the memories. Thank you for the food.

If you're searching for some of the city's best pork, then those in the know will bring up Ham Ji Park. For 2 decades, generous platters of pork ribs and pork neck stew decked every table. Now, our Korean friends lament the loss of their favorite pork joint in the city. The Koreatown proper location is located in the Royal Plaza mini-mall, just a few blocks off bustling Wilshire. Discounted parking is available in a lot across the street from the Chevron gas station. From the street, the entrance is flanked by potted plants and an enclosed street-ery. Inside, stainless steel chairs are pressed up against wooden tables, each outfitted with a metal grill. Oppressive fluorescent lighting shines down on the stone grey walls, which are left undecorated apart from a few flatscreens. Multi-lingual chatter blends with the sizzle of platters. I visited with some friends for a weeknight dinner, and about half of the tables were occupied. We shared a spread of grilled platters and sizzling soups. The meal began with a carafe of barley tea and a mostly standard spread of banchan. Across our food, the best dish was the signature Charbroiled Pork Spare Rib. The ribs were flavorful without feeling gamey, and the meat was complemented by sweet caramelized onions. The pork ribs handily outdid the good-not-great Charbroiled Beef Short Rib. Lastly, the Milt and Cod Rose with Vegetables stew was fishy and briny, appropriately flavored for the Korean palate. The service was appropriately attentive, although I would've appreciated more intentional refills of our banchan ramikens. The rib plates cost upward of $35 each, while the soup was just under $30. The portions were hearty; a single entree platter could reasonably feed 2 moderately hungry bellies. It's a shame to hear that Ham Ji Park has closed; I'm kicking myself for not trying their pork neck stew earlier.
